An old favourite of mine that has received a great buff this Gen is Mamoswine. I hope by now that we have all heard of Freeze Dry Mamoswine. Mamoswine draws physical bulky waters like no other Pokemon, such as Rotom-W, Gyarados, Quagsire & Slowbro, and smack them to pieces with Freeze Dry (hopefully on the switch). Now this set was first thought of as a gimmick when it first started appearing but it has some great utility, removing a teams bulky water is a great thing indeed, not only that; Mamoswine can also choose to run Stealth Rocks or even Icicle Spear turning it into a perfect match up for Sash Lead Breloom beating it one on one every time.
Mamoswine @ Life Orb
Ability: Thick Fat / Oblivious
EVs: 64 HP / 252 Atk / 16 SpA / 176 Spe (Naive) or 240 Atk / 16 SpA / 252 Spe (Naughty)
Naive / Naughty Nature
- Earthquake
- Ice Shard
- Freeze Dry
- Icicle Spear / Stealth Rock
First let me explain the EVs and Nature I have chosen, specifically the Naive Nature with that crazy EV spread. First of all 16 SpA on both spreads will guarantee the 2HKO on Physical Defensive Rotom-W (after Stealth Rocks). When running 176 Speed EVs and a +ve Nature you out speed +ve Base 70 speed Pokemon (think Breloom & Bisharp). The rest is dumped onto Attack on both sets, and the leftover EVs on the Naive set into HP for some extra bulk. You can also choose to run extra speed on the Naive Set in order to out speed specific threats, such as Timid Heatran, with 232 EVs in Speed.
This Mamoswine is an incredibly difficult Pokemon to switch into - if played correctly. It disrupts most Sand Offence Teams which are all the rage on the ladder (Tyranitar, Breloom, Thundurus, Landorus, Latios, Latias & Garchomp are all threatened) and causes issues for other team archetypes with it's massive damage output in general.

Mamoswine is a great Pokemon that is incredibly difficult for common OU Pokemon to switch into but, this set does have counters and for that reason I would like to suggest some team mates. Incredibly bulky Pokemon such as Chansey & Skarmory trouble this set greatly, therefore, a stall breaker works well with this set. Bulky Fighting types that can take an Earthquake can beat Mamosine 1v1 and Mega-Scizor can set-up all over it.
Mega Charizard X doesn't mind having Quagsire removed as well as Gliscor/Landorus-T.
Thundurus serves as a back up Pokemon for Bulky Waters as well as threatening Keldeo & Azumarill.
Bulk-Up Talonflame also gets a special mention, Mamoswine threatens it's common counters (Tyranitar, Rotom-W & Rock Coverage Heatran). Bulk Up Talonflame, in turn, can beat (Quagsire-less) stall & Baton Pass - bar Zapdos (something Mamo threatens).
I must apologise as I had forgotten to save some decent replays, but please do try this set for yourself and have fun.
