{OVERVIEW}

  • One of the Tiers Premiere Offensive Pokemon
  • It packs a Great Speed Tier, Serviceable Special Attack Stat with Broad Coverage options
  • Rapid Spin / Anti-Hazard Control
  • Facilitates Teams that need Hazards removed as it Performs well on mainly Offensive Builds

{Set #1}
Name: Offensive Rapid Spinner

Move 1: Hydro Pump / Surf
Move 2: Thunderbolt / Psyshock / Grass Knot
Move 3: Ice Beam
Move 4: Rapid Spin

Item: Life Orb / Leftovers / Air Balloon / Expert Belt
Ability: Analytic
Nature: Timid
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe

{Set Comments}
  • Hydro Pump is main Starmie's STAB attack hitting Neutral Targets hard and still puts a charge into most Resists like Latios. If Accuracy is preferred over Power then Surf is a good Option to use.
  • Thunderbolt hits other Water-types in the Tier for Super-Effective Damage expect Gastrodon and Seismitoad while Rotom-Wash is hit Neutrally by Electric Attacks. Psyshock is Starmie's secondary STAB as its a nice Effective tool to use against Water-types like Keldeo and Tentacruel while Jellicent gets hit with reasonable Damage cause of its Weaker Physical Defense and Rotom-Wash also gets hit hard as it commonly runs Special Defensive Sets. Grass Knot also hits Water-types for Neutral to Super-Effective Damage and OHKOs most, if not all Gastrodon and Seismitoad as Grass Knot serves a Purpose of a nice Measure against them which otherwise sponge Attacks from it since they have Water Absorb or Storm Drain respectively.
  • Ice Beam is 99.98% required on this Set beause how good Ice-type Offensively as it hits Grass, Flying and all of the Dragon-types for Super-Effective Damage, expect Kyurem-Black which is Neutral to Ice.
  • Lastly, Rapid Spin is also near Required as its Starmie's important Feature. It can clear away Hazards like Stealth Rocks and Spikes away, only being Stopped by Spinblockers, Mostly known as Ghost-types since they are Immune to Rapid Spin and Hazards will not be Cleared out.

{Set Details}
  • Max Special Attack and Speed allows Starmie to hit as Hard and be as Fast as it can, basically the Standard
  • Alternative EV Spread can be 32 HP / 252 SpA / 224 Spe with a Timid Nature. This Spread still allows Starmie to Outpace like it can do with the Standard Spread like Tornadus and Latios but losing the Opportunity to Speed Tie with other Starmie, but you gain Extra Bulk into HP and allows it to live a Thunderbolt from opposing Non-Life Orb Starmie's.
  • Life Orb is a option as it boost Starmie's Power and hampers its survivability by losing 10% of HP when it attacks. Leftovers gives Starmie longevity against resisual Damage like Sand Chip negates that Passive recovery. Air Balloon is a fun tool to not only to avoid Spikes layed by the Opponent, but to give it a immunity to Ground-type Attacks, especially Choiced-Locked ones as Ground-type Attackers are very Popular within the Metagame like Landorus-Therian, Garchomp and Excadrill. Expert Belt is used to boost the Super-Effective hits it puts on the Opponent and doesn't require HP Loss unlike Life Orb.

{Usage Tips}
  • Starmie primarily function as a Offensive Spinner that removes Hazards and is Capable to revenge Non-Choice Scarf Offense like Latios, Garchomp, Landorus-Therian etc.
  • Starmie do have Cons, With its hazard susceptibility and frailty and often struggles to take Strong, Neutral Attacks. It should always be switched-in safely mostly for the Reason of getting rid of Hazards mainly to help with its own Teammates that are weak to the ever-present Stealth Rocks.
  • Starmie also has a Weakness to Dark so Pursuit-trappers like Tyranitar is a obvious Problem for Starmie as its Water STAB struggles to OHKO it as Tyranitar can OHKO it back with its STAB and being easily revenge killed by other Scarfers outspeeding it made worse by its Frailty is also a Problem, be cafeful around Scarfers especially the Common ones like Latios and Landorus-Therian.

{Team Options}
  • Starmie fits commonly on Fast-Paced Offensive Teams
  • Dangerous Sweepers like Dragonite or Volcarona like being paired up with it because it fills the role of Rapid Spinning fairly well and getting rid of Stealth Rocks makes them even more of a Threat because with Hazards away, they don't need to worry about losing HP upon switch-in.
  • Tyranitar is still a problem for Starmie so Boosting Wallbreakers like Breloom and Scizor can work as they are more effective at Dealing with Tyranitar with Super-Effective Attacks than Starmie can. They both pack Powerful Priority Attacks boosted by their respective STAB and Technician Ability.
  • Then a Stealth Rocker alone is enough to help get its Attackers succeed to get kills so a Offensive Stealth Rocker like Garchomp or even Sash Terrakion can work.

{Other Options}
  • Choice Specs / Choice Scarf
  • Bulky Mie
  • Dual Screens
  • Hidden Power Fire / Signal Beam
  • Recover on Offensive Set(s)
