Magnezone's pull on the BW OU metagame has grown more attractive with the prominence of Steel-type Spikers, in Ferrothorn and Skarmory. With the ability Magnet Pull, Magnezone is able to remove both of these Spikes setters which also serve as strong walls as well, opening the game up for threatening attackers. On this particular set, Air Balloon allows for Magnezone to always remove Choice Scarf Excadrill and potentially trap other Excadrill variants if you are able to avoid an Iron Head flinch; Air Balloon + Magnet Rise also allows you to make quick work of the rare Metagross, Bronzong, and Earthquake Forretress. Sunny Day makes it possible to dispose of Ferrothorn in rain without allowing three layers of hazards to be set-up or risking losing to Leech Seed variants, allowing you to derail the entire gameplan of common Rain teams. Oftentimes paired with strong Dragon types, which appreciate Steel-types being removed, on a playstyle informally labeled "DragMag", Magnezone is an enabler of many offensive options, one of the few anti-Spikes measures in the tier, and the premier trapper in the BW OU metagame currently.
