[OVERVIEW]
Fairy
========
Thanks to its ability in Huge Power and Aqua Jet, Azumarill can act as a powerful physical attacker for Fairy teams. It can run either a sweeping Belly Drum set or a Choice Band set to wallbreak. Azumarill can remove items and hit Pokemon like Aegislash and Slowbro with Knock Off. It can also damage Steel-types like Melmetal and Ferrothorn with Superpower. Due to its low stats and reliance on Aqua Jet, Azumarill gets revenge killed easily by any Pokemon that doesn't mind Aqua Jet, like Zarude or Tapu Lele. Its Speed leaves it slower than some defensive Pokemon like Rotom-W and Mew, letting them burn or cripple Azumarill.
[SET]
name: Belly Drum (Fairy)
move 1: Belly Drum
move 2: Aqua Jet
move 3: Knock Off
move 4: Substitute / Brick Break / Play Rough
item: Sitrus Berry
ability: Huge Power
nature: Adamant
evs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
[SET COMMENTS]
Belly Drum Azumarill is an effective sweeper with its STAB Aqua Jet, which lets it pick up KOs on threats like Thundurus-T, Nihilego, and Zeraora that would otherwise OHKO it. Knock Off can OHKO targets that comfortably tank Aqua Jet, like Amoonguss, Aegislash, and Gastrodon, after a Belly Drum. It also has the added utility of removing items, like Toxapex's Black Sludge or Mantine's Heavy-Duty Boots. Substitute is used to avoid status conditions and set up on defensive Pokemon like Torkoal, and defensive Aegislash when Azumarill is behind Light Screen. Brick Break can also be used, as it hits Pokemon like Melmetal for more damage. Play Rough is an option for targets that survive both Knock Off and Aqua Jet, like Hydreigon. 4 HP EVs allow Azumarill to trigger its Sitrus Berry after a Belly Drum every time. Its Speed EVs allow it to outpace most defensive Pokemon like Aegislash and Celesteela. It is a good idea to set up Belly Drum with dual screens active or in front of a passive Pokemon, since Azumarill usually only gets once chance to use it. You also don't want to use Belly Drum if Tapu Lele's Psychic Terrain will still be active, since it prevents Aqua Jet from being used.
Klefki is an invaluable teammate because of its dual screens—allowing Azumarill to set up more easily, Spikes, and Steel typing providing a Poison immunity and resistance to Ice. Spikes support is incredibly important for Azumarill, allowing it to always OHKO Pokemon like Toxapex and Ferrothorn after a Belly Drum. Clefable's utility options in Stealth Rock and Knock Off cripples foes and makes it easier for Azumarill to sweep as well. Tapu Bulu is great because it can beat Electric-types like Rotom-W and Alolan Raichu. It can revenge kill threats like Zapdos and Thundurus-T with a Choice Scarf, or break through defensive Pokemon like Ferrothorn and Toxapex with Substitute + Swords Dance. Tapu Koko is a great offensive pivot that provides STAB Thunderbolt and Dazzling Gleam to hit troublesome Water- and Dragon-types like Mantine, Toxapex, Latios, and Kyurem for Azumarill. Tapu Lele can beat Poison- and Dragon-types like Nidoking, Hydreigon, and Latias with its STAB Psyshock and Moonblast. Nasty Plot Togekiss can remove troublesome Poison- and Grass-types like Toxapex, Galarian Weezing, Ferrothorn, and Rillaboom. Other dual screens sweepers like Bulk Up Grimmsnarl and Swords Dance Mimikyu can work together with Azumarill and break down the opposing team. Both are excellent in the Ghost or Psychic matchup with their STAB, super effective, attacks and priority attacks.
[SET]
name: Choice Band (Fairy)
move 1: Liquidation
move 2: Aqua Jet
move 3: Knock Off
move 4: Superpower
item: Choice Band
ability: Huge Power
nature: Adamant
evs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
[SET COMMENTS]
Choice Band Azumarill's immediate power lets it act as an effective physical wallbreaker. Liquidation hits Pokemon like Hippowdon, Heatran, and Mandibuzz. Aqua Jet allows Azumarill to occasionally revenge kill Pokemon like Excadrill, Nihilego, and Victini. Knock Off can remove items like Leftovers or Heavy-Duty Boots from opposing Pokemon, and also beats the likes of Slowking and Aegislash. Superpower lets Azumarill deal hefty damage to Steel-types like Ferrothorn and Melmetal.
Klefki is an incredible teammate, providing dual screens and a switch-in to Ice-, Grass-, and Poison-type attacks, as well as Spikes, which Azumarill heavily appreciates to pick up KOs more easily. Clefable's Stealth Rock and Knock Off are equally helpful for Azumarill. It also has access to Magic Guard, letting it act as a status absorber for Azumarill. Its Rocky Helmet allows it to chip down Pokemon like Celesteela, making it easier for Azumarill to break past them. Tapu Koko's U-turn can help Azumarill find opportunities to break through the opposing team. Choice Band Azumarill and Tapu Koko form a good offensive core, as Azumarill can beat Ground-types that come in on Tapu Koko, like Hippowdon and Excadrill, and Tapu Koko beats troublesome Dragon-, Water-, and Flying-types, like Hydreigon, Mantine, and Corviknight. Tapu Lele and Azumarill can break many defensive cores together with their powerful attacks. Tapu Lele can handle Poison- and Dragon-types like Dragalge, Toxapex, and Latios, while Azumarill can beat targets like Ferrothorn, Aegislash, and Slowking. However, Tapu Lele's Psychic Surge can sometimes prevent Azumarill from using Aqua Jet. Tapu Bulu enjoys Azumarill revenge killing Pokemon like Volcarona and Choice Scarf Blacephalon. In return, Tapu Bulu can beat Electric-type Pokemon like Rotom-W and Tapu Koko. It also beats Water-types like Mantine and Seismitoad. Togekiss beats Grass's and Poison's defensive cores with Substitute + Nasty Plot, that Azumarill has trouble breaking through. Bulk Up Grimmsnarl and Swords Dance Mimikyu are other great dual screens attackers that help beat Ghost and Psychic.

Other Options
=============
Fairy
--------
Azumarill can run a Jolly nature to outrun Pokemon like Adamant Azumarill and Rotom-W. Play Rough is an option with Choice Band too, since it hits Dragon- and Fighting-types like Kingdra and Keldeo, but is usually outclassed by a move like Knock Off, which hits more important targets.
Checks and Counters
===================
Fairy
--------
**Haze**: Pokemon like Mantine can remove Azumarill's Attack boost from Belly Drum with Haze. Unlike other setup sweepers, Azumarill usually only has one chance to set up, since it costs half of Azumarill's health.
**Status**: All status conditions greatly hamper Azumarill's ability to make progress. A burn renders its attacks much weaker, paralysis lets Pokemon like Melmetal outrun it, and being poisoned forces Azumarill to take even more residual damage on top of entry hazards and often Belly Drum.
**Revenge Killlers**: Pokemon that can outspeed Azumarill and also survive or nullify Aqua Jet, like Kyurem, Tapu Lele, and Tapu Bulu—which aren't OHKOed even at +6—are able to revenge kill Azumarill easily.
**Psychic Terrain**: Psychic Terrain from Azumarill's common teammate, Tapu Lele, prevents it from using Aqua Jet, a key part of its arsenal. This leaves it unable to KO Pokemon like Nihilego, Victini, and Nidoking.
