Hey, Smogon. I had a great battle earlier in the day with Light underneath my Olympic Glory account on Shoddy, and thought it would be fun to make a war story out of it. I use this format to make it easier to read, so follow the key, please.

Key:

Anything bolded, size twelve font is the battle log.
Anything size ten, green, bolded and italicized has to do with Olympic Glory.
Anything size ten, blue, bolded and italicized has to do with Light.
Anything size ten, italized and in red are comments by spectators.
Anything in size ten and in purple is my commentary on the match.
Anything in size ten, not bolded nor italicized, and within parentheses are my comments on the spectators
Anything in italics and in size ten is people entering or leaving the battle room

Just for additional perspective, I'll add the teams each of us used here.

Olympic Glory's team:

Light's team:

As you can see, both of are using very offensive teams...yet are generally still able to take hits well.

Rules: Evasion Clause, Freeze Clause, OHKO Clause, Sleep Clause, Species Clause

Olympic Glory sent out Salamence (lvl 100 Salamence ?).
Light sent out Gyarados (lvl 100 Gyarados ?).
Salamence's intimidate cut Gyarados's attack!
Gyarados's intimidate cut Salamence's attack!

So it’s pretty late, and I’m bored. Light asks me if I would like to battle…and I say yes. We’re both going to use teams that we have used against each other before, and this is very unfortunate for me, as even though up until this point I am 2-3, those 2 wins only came due to “hax.” So essentially, my prospects aren’t looking too bright here. However…I have a little surprise for Light…

evlJunior has entered the room. (Our good friend Junior)
The_Atheist has entered the room. (Our friend The_Atheist)

Salamence used Draco Meteor.
Gyarados lost 84% of its health.
Salamence's special attack was harshly lowered.
Salamence lost 10% of its health.
Gyarados used Ice Fang.
It's super effective!
Salamence lost 124% of its health.
Olympic Glory's Salamence fainted.
---
zaksam has entered the room.
Olympic Glory: ahh!
SlyTy has entered the room.
-Logic has entered the room.
Tyson57 has entered the room.
Olympic Glory: I thought without defensive evs that was a ohko :( (I’m intelligent)
Syn has entered the room.
Light: Yeah, it is.
Light: Unfortunately, I am a fucker who uses defensive evs. (Light is not a fucker :P)

I used to start with T-tar, and I had Gyarados instead of Salamence. What would happen there is that I would switch to Gyarados on his waterfall, and then be in a flux with him switching Zapdos in, as a Dragon Danced Stone Edge is not a OHKO on his Zapdos (I found this out painfully in one of our previous matches.)

So basically…that surprise? Yea, it was Mixmence instead of Gyarados, and in the lead in place of T-tar…so much for my surprise…

I’m now down 5-6, and my prospects are looking about as favorable as my previous experiences in the early game against Light.

Olympic Glory switched in Tyranitar (lvl 100 Tyranitar ?).
Tyranitar's Sand Stream whipped up a sandstorm!
A sandstorm brewed!

So, basically, Ice Fang doesn’t ohko after Intimidate unless Gyarados is banded, so I switch to T-tar.

TheNumbers has entered the room.
Pinguster has entered the room. (Ahh, enter my hater.)

So now I’m thinking, well, I know his team. I know he has 4 ice weaknesses + T-tar…but he is going to be switching T-tar in against what he knows will be a 70% damaging Stone Edge. So I Ice Beam.

Light switched in Garchomp (lvl 100 Garchomp ?).
Tyranitar used Ice Beam.
It's super effective!
Garchomp lost 62% of its health.
The Yache Berry weakened Ice Beam's power!
Tyranitar lost 10% of its health.
The sandstorm rages.
---

Score! Not…it had Yache…Crap…As a side note, in all 3 matches that Light was victorious in, his damn Yache Swords Dance Outrage Garchomp had done the damage. I immediately thought I stood a chance again, and I began to gain confidence. Granted, it wasn’t the ohko I was hoping for…but it was enough.

zaksam: uau (your guess is as good as mine)
Olympic Glory: not in my house
dragon88 has entered the room.
dragon88 has left the room.

So now I’m stuck with the knowledge that this is a Swords Dancing Chomp…and that my T-tar is going to die against a 359 Attack, STAB SE Earthquake at 90% health. However…I also know that Light knows me, and I know he is thinking that I am thinking about his EQ, so instead of the risky, immediate action switch (which would be Gengar), I go with the safe one.

Olympic Glory switched in Shuckle (lvl 100 Shuckle ?).
Garchomp used Outrage.
Garchomp went on a rampage!
Shuckle lost 38% of its health.
The sandstorm rages.
Shuckle's leftovers restored its health a little!
Shuckle restored 6% of its health.
---

My Shuckle is a great transition switch, as it supports and allows me a safety net…Anything that can switch into SpecsMence and Garchomp is very impressive. I’ve also ev’d the thing to be 4hko’d by a 359 atk Chomp’s Outrage.

Pinguster: yache berry ftw (start the brown nosing)
zaksam: yache berry sux. (Thank you zaksam)

Garchomp used Outrage.
Shuckle lost 35% of its health.
Shuckle used Stealth Rock.
Pointed stones float in the air around your foe's team!
The sandstorm rages.
Shuckle's leftovers restored its health a little!
Shuckle restored 6% of its health.
---

The beauty of only being 4hko’d is that I can set up Stealth rock…and effectively eliminate his Gyarados while hurting his Zapdos a lot. The 12.5% damage also comes into extremely important relevance later ;).

SlyTy has left the room.
Pinguster: yup (Um, what? Didn’t you just say yache berry ftw?)

Garchomp used Outrage.
Shuckle lost 37% of its health.
Shuckle used Rest.
Shuckle fell asleep!
Shuckle restored 98% of its health.
Garchomp's rampage ended.
Garchomp became confused!
The sandstorm rages.
---

I rest because after the outrage it has at like 2% health…And his rampage ends, so I assume, in hindsight idiotically, that he is going to switch to Zapdos to try and set up his sweep.

Olympic Glory switched in Tyranitar (lvl 100 Tyranitar ?).
Tyranitar's Sand Stream whipped up a sandstorm!
Garchomp is confused!
Garchomp used Swords Dance.
Garchomp's attack was sharply raised.
The sandstorm rages.
---

O crap.

Olympic Glory: ah!

Olympic Glory switched in Shuckle (lvl 100 Shuckle ?).
Garchomp is confused!
It hurt itself in its confusion!
Garchomp lost 30% of its health.
The sandstorm rages.
---

Some may call that hax, but as you’ll see, it doesn’t make a difference at all. I was sending in Shuckle to be sacrificed anyway, and he was outraging.

evlJunior: wun moar (Zaksam and Junior should start a club)

Garchomp is confused!
Garchomp used Outrage.
Garchomp went on a rampage!
Shuckle lost 70% of its health.
Shuckle is fast asleep!
The sandstorm rages.
Shuckle's leftovers restored its health a little!
Shuckle restored 6% of its health.
---
Garchomp snapped out of confusion!
Garchomp used Outrage.
Shuckle lost 75% of its health.
Olympic Glory's Shuckle fainted.
The sandstorm rages.
---

Sacrifice, complete. And if I didn’t have my patented fast pokes, ownage complete. It is now 4-6 in Light’s favor, and this isn’t looking too good…Thankfully, the way my team is structured, a potential 5-0 loss can instantly turn into a 1-0 win due to the ability to deal massive damage quickly.

Pinguster: pwnt (he does this throughout)
Olympic Glory: it isnt a thang but a chicken wing! (Quote of the century)
Pinguster: ... (wtf do you want?)

I can switch in Gengar or Lucario, and I choose Gengar because I want to avoid having Celebi come into the battle for now. I also pray that Sand Veil doesn’t own me and my future children.

Olympic Glory switched in Gengar (lvl 100 Gengar ?).
Gengar used Shadow Ball.
Garchomp lost 51% of its health.
Light's Garchomp fainted.
The sandstorm rages.
Gengar is buffetted by the sandstorm!
Gengar lost 6% of its health.
---

Whew. 4-5 Light. Advantage is still in his favor, but I have eliminated the biggest threat to this team.

Light switched in Tyranitar (lvl 100 Tyranitar ?).
Tyranitar's Sand Stream whipped up a sandstorm!
Pointed stones dug into Tyranitar.
Tyranitar lost 12% of its health.

Opposite of whew. I have no safe switches…But I knew that when I made my decision to keep Celebi out by bringing in Gengar.

zaksam: lol OU vs OU is funny.. (Best commentator, ever. Imagine the NFL with him instead of Madden)
evlJunior: I think Light has this in the bag (We’ll see about that)

Olympic Glory switched in Tyranitar (lvl 100 Tyranitar ?).
Tyranitar's Sand Stream whipped up a sandstorm!
Tyranitar used Stone Edge.
Tyranitar lost 68% of its health.
Tyranitar lost 10% of its health.
The sandstorm rages.
---

Here was a point that could have potentially game breaking for either side. Hmm, T-tar has so many options. With Crunch/Stone Edge, I can safely switch Lucario in…though with Light’s propensity to sacrifice his pokes, I would be wary of Swords Dancing into an Earthquake, and if I Close Combated into his Celebi, it would be a waste of 10% health. So, I chose to sacrifice T-tar.

Light: Bitch (lol)
Olympic Glory: lol
SkyPirateCoud has entered the room.
Pinguster: lol (No)
zaksam: both sides have sandstorm teams.. >_< (Nvm…he also states the obvious…)

Tyranitar used Crunch.
It's not very effective...
Tyranitar lost 24% of its health.
Olympic Glory's Tyranitar fainted.
Tyranitar lost 10% of its health.
The sandstorm rages.
---

Sacrifice complete. 3-5 Light…All I have are Lucario, Gengar and Garchomp…coincidentally, the hardest, fastest hitting of the bunch. So even though I am down, I am certainly not out.

Pinguster: pwnt (hmm…)

Again, I could choose to bring Luke in…But I choose to hold off on that. Celebi’s potential to make Lucario essentially useless is too dangerous right now.

Olympic Glory switched in Garchomp (lvl 100 Garchomp ?).

evlJunior: Light's isn't an SS team I don't think (Ugh, Junior…he has Ttar…)
Olympic Glory: do you use luke? (Sometimes, I think aloud in battles…got a problem?)
Gmax has entered the room.
Light: I don't. (Sometimes, my opponent obliges my curiosity)

Garchomp used Earthquake.
It's super effective!
Tyranitar lost 115% of its health.
Light's Tyranitar fainted.
Garchomp lost 10% of its health.
The sandstorm rages.
---

If I was facing another person, I would have Swords Danced. I was facing Light, so I didn’t take any chances with Ice Beam and I killed him off right away. Now it was 3-4, and even though the momentum was decidedly in his favor previous to this, it was starting to even out a bit. My Mence, T-tar and Shuckle were gone, and his Garchomp and T-tar were gone. We’d both lost valuable assets to our respective strategies…but I feel like his loss was a bit greater than mine.

zaksam: lol both sides have same team.. >_> (Well, Chomp and T-tar are the same…)
evlJunior: Luke is awesome (? Where did that come from…)

Light switched in Rhyperior (lvl 100 Rhyperior ?).
Pointed stones dug into Rhyperior.
Rhyperior lost 6% of its health.

I am not expecting that switch at all. I thought for sure it would be Zapdos. I realize later why it is not…but at that point it confused the hell out of me.

Olympic Glory: what in the dirty hells is this (Hell is dirty, right?)

Garchomp used Earthquake.
It's super effective!
Rhyperior lost 62% of its health.
Garchomp lost 10% of its health.
Rhyperior used Earthquake.
Garchomp lost 50% of its health.
The sandstorm rages.
Rhyperior's leftovers restored its health a little!
Rhyperior restored 6% of its health.
---
evlJunior: alawls (Seriously, these two need to start a club)
Pinguster: wall'd (please stop speaking)
zaksam: lol I wonder what can wall dragons except cloyster.. (lol…)

Light switched in Gyarados (lvl 100 Gyarados ?).
Gyarados's intimidate cut Garchomp's attack!
Pointed stones dug into Gyarados.
Gyarados lost 25% of its health.
Light's Gyarados fainted.
Garchomp used Earthquake.
But there was no target!
The sandstorm rages.
---

Thank you, Gamefreak, for implementing the broken idea of Stealth Rock. 3-3 Now. Aldaron has Garchomp, Lucario and Gengar; Light has Celebi, Zapdos and Rhyperior.

Light switched in Celebi (lvl 100 Celebi).
Pointed stones dug into Celebi.
Celebi lost 12% of its health.

Anyway…now that the prospective intimidate from Gyarados is gone, I feel more confident with bringing Luke into the mix. And now Light switches in the Pokemon I had been avoiding at all costs before. This is a pivotal part of the battle. Gengar matches well against Celebi…but if it is leech seeded, I can be walled by recover and hurt by 12.5% + 6.25% each turn. So I voluntarily introduce the one match up I was dreading this entire game…Lucario vs. Celebi.

Olympic Glory switched in Lucario (lvl 100 Lucario ?).
Celebi used Leech Seed.
Lucario was seeded!
The sandstorm rages.
Celebi is buffetted by the sandstorm!
Celebi lost 6% of its health.
Lucario's health was sapped by leech seed!
Lucario lost 12% of its health.
Celebi regained health!
Celebi restored 8% of its health.
Celebi's leftovers restored its health a little!
Celebi restored 6% of its health.
---

Well, Luke has taken the Leech Seed. Now he can stall me out, or switch to set up his strategy. Either is fine for me, as I am bringing in Gengar regardless.

Olympic Glory switched in Gengar (lvl 100 Gengar ?).
Light switched in Zapdos (lvl 100 Zapdos).
Zapdos is exerting its pressure!
Pointed stones dug into Zapdos.
Zapdos lost 25% of its health.
The sandstorm rages.
Gengar is buffetted by the sandstorm!
Gengar lost 6% of its health.
Zapdos is buffetted by the sandstorm!
Zapdos lost 6% of its health.
Zapdos's leftovers restored its health a little!
Zapdos restored 6% of its health.
---

He opts to set up his sweep, and I have poor Scarf Gengar up against Zapdos. It’s alright though. Also, that Stealth Rock damage, again, is absolutely key.

Gengar used Shadow Ball.
Zapdos lost 45% of its health.
Zapdos used Agility.
Zapdos's speed was sharply raised.
The sandstorm rages.
Zapdos is buffetted by the sandstorm!
Zapdos lost 6% of its health.
Gengar is buffetted by the sandstorm!
Gengar lost 6% of its health.
Zapdos's leftovers restored its health a little!
Zapdos restored 6% of its health.
---

Great, he agilitied…I am looking at a hurting Zapdos (around 30% health) and the possibility of him switching to Rhyperior. At this point, also, Gengar, is very close or already into Thunderbolt ko range…so I just keep him in. If he switches to Rhyperior, I have nothing to worry about; if he kos me, I have Luke’s extremespeed..

Zapdos used Roost.
Zapdos restored 50% of its health.
Gengar used Shadow Ball.
Zapdos lost 48% of its health.

Taking the safe route by letting Sandstorm bring me into a more comfortable KO range. That’s ok. I’m not going anywhere.

boeing has entered the room.
boeing has left the room.
Olympic Glory: I might be wrong though
Light: Tbolt will kill Lukey.
Olympic Glory: o wow that was dumb lol (Turns it, it helped me win the game…)

Now, even though I had seen Zapdos use Roost, Thunderbolt and Agility…it didn’t quite click to me that it didn’t have HP Ice and that Garchomp was actually the perfect switch in. So, expecting the HP Ice, I switch to Lucario…

Olympic Glory switched in Lucario (lvl 100 Lucario ?).
Light switched in Celebi (lvl 100 Celebi).
Pointed stones dug into Celebi.
Celebi lost 12% of its health.
The sandstorm rages.
Celebi is buffetted by the sandstorm!
Celebi lost 6% of its health.
Celebi's leftovers restored its health a little!
Celebi restored 6% of its health.

Ah, the mental aspect of the game. Light, being the intelligent fellow that he is, thought that I knew he didn’t have HP Ice, and that I would stop a potential Rhyperior sweep by Outraging. So he did the intelligent thing and switched to Celebi. However, I was not thinking properly, and I switched to Lucario…which essentially was the gamebreaking point. The final momentum shift, of sorts.

zaksam has left the room.
Olympic Glory: why did you switch...
Olympic Glory: you had agility... (I had my intelligence cap on at this moment)
boeing has entered the room.
I’m still being stupid. Light later tells me himself lol.

Celebi regained health!
Celebi restored 8% of its health.
Celebi's leftovers restored its health a little!
Celebi restored 6% of its health.
---

Light really has no options here. If he switches to Zapdos, the Stealth Rock damage + Extremespeed finishes it. If he switches to Rhyperior, the Close Combat is the killer. So he leech seeds.

Light: It matters little.
Light: But I'll tell you.
Light: It's a BPer.
puggy has entered the room.
puggy: Crowded
evlJunior: Thanks to Aldy

Celebi restored 8% of its health.
Celebi's leftovers restored its health a little!

I have to Swords Dance twice…because it is only then that I have a chance to deal around 85% to Celebi, and it is sitting around 98% right now.

Syn has left the room.
puggy: Only if you pay me (I think he assumed that Light asked him something?)

Light switched in Rhyperior (lvl 100 Rhyperior ?).
Pointed stones dug into Rhyperior.

Lucario used Close Combat.
It's super effective!

I was asking myself why he switched Rhyperior in. Close Combat still wasn’t a guaranteed ko if Celebi had some defensive evs, and I thought he should have Grass Knotted again. Regardless, Rhyperior was down. 2-2.

Pinguster: shut up Light knows best (The brown nosing never stops)

Light switched in Celebi (lvl 100 Celebi).
Pointed stones dug into Celebi.
Celebi lost 12% of its health.

puggy: Yes sir
evlJunior: Another suck-up =\
Light: Does this kill? Probably.

Lucario used Close Combat.
It's not very effective...

Light's Celebi fainted.
Lucario's defence was lowered.
Lucario's special defence was lowered.
Lucario lost 10% of its health.
The sandstorm rages.

And this is where Stealth Rock, again saves the day. Celebi was at around 98%, and now it is at around 85%. I later asked Light what his ev’s were, and discovered that after 2 swords dances, Life Orb Lucario only does around 86% on average…Thank you Stealth Rock. 2-1, Aldaron.

Pinguster: hey I aint a suck up (Really?)
Light: Just enough.

Light switched in Zapdos (lvl 100 Zapdos).
Zapdos is exerting its pressure!
Pointed stones dug into Zapdos.
Zapdos lost 25% of its health.

puggy: By that logic shouldn't he leave as well (Who the hell are you talking to you?!)
evlJunior: warstory'd! (How wise you are, Junior)
Olympic Glory: this was actually a solid battle
Light: Junior, apparently you don't get the meaning of "stfu" (Maybe not.)
Pinguster: hah
puggy: Burned (I actually like Puggy, a lot)

And that’s game, and a great game it was. 2-0, Aldaron. In hindsight, I realize that even if Light had Grass Knotted when I used Close Combat, it wouldn’t have made a difference, as Garchomp would have came in for the Outrage sweep. Overall it was a wonderful match, with both sides making few errors (and mine actually helping me win the game), no hax, and a great momentum shift.

Olympic Glory: gg

Pinguster later, in the main chat, left us this, wonderful remark: “OG just goes to Smogon and takes their sets because he can’t make one by himself.” Why such hate…and o yea…Who the hell are you?! I don’t remember speaking to you…ever…

So anyway Smogon, take your shoes off, pour a few nice, cold drinks, and enjoy this story!

And thanks for those sets!

Interesting battle, I don't think I've ever seen Shuckle do so much outside of UU.

And yes, Pinguster is like the most random person ever. He used a Brave Bird/Hypnosis Crobat against me in a UU battle.

That was a pretty darned nice battle and great moves on both sides, IMO. The spectators were annoying though.

Perfectly put together warstory , not confusing and easy to read, good job on the win , and wow a shuckle , i never see him these days ....

and gosh that was a lot of people watching , when i get like 3 , lololol

That was an awesome match. I liked your formatting quite a bit, and your team was pretty solid. I'm glad that I'm no longer the only Shuckle user on the face of the planet.

Making comments on the comments by the spectators was quite funny too, I would've totally tore that Pinguster guy down. What an annoying little kid. Probably a 13 or 14 year old.

I've faced you before, but we seriously need a rematch, because my Yanmega had the Tinted Lens glitch when we were facing each other and it's gone now, so we need a rematch fair game.

Great warstory. :]

Awesome battle I remember battling you it was fun. Shuckle was a bitch to take down anyways congrats on the win :D

This warstory is one of the more entertaining ones I've read in a while. Great job on the win! (And now I finally know who Olympic Glory is on Shoddy...)

I hate spectators like that.

It was a very good battle though, it was the first warstory that I actually read every turn of in a long time.

Good game, Aldaron. Very interesting match, glad to see that your mistakes worked well for you. The format was really well done, so kudos on that.

We've actually played on Shoddy before, during a ladder match. Atheist came in and harassed you for losing, i think. I'm SwordsDance.

But anyways, good warstory. Definitely the best i've seen since the last archived one.

Aww...I missed this battle. It was a good one too.

What was a surprisingly good play at the end was when zapdos switched to celebi instead of baton passing the agility to it. At first I wondered why light switched instead of passing the speed, but then I realized that celebi had a better chance of recover stalling if it was slower by recovering immediately after every hit. Had it been faster, it would have succumbed to close combat followed up by extremespeed from full HP without the chance to recover.
Regardless though, as you said it wouldn't have mattered because garchomp was coming in for the outrage sweep.

Anyway, good battle and good warstory.

Also new found hate for pinguster lol. I just remembered he was the one who kept arguing with me after I told him that NFEs belonged in the same tier as their fully evolved form. He was all like magneton and dusclops are UU.

Nice match. It was interesting to see Shuckle doing something, and Stealth Rock really does make a huge difference.

Haha, I saw the Ending of that conversation, and when people were claiming sets as their own, and Smogon being "Set Stealers", I had to Laugh.

Really did enjoy the warstory though ^_^

Hope to see more :D

Well written, well presented and a great Warstory too.

I don't know why the ending was given away before the actual ending.

RICK DANGEROUS

not nearly as dangerous as advertised
Note that I am being censored in this battle (why didn't you censor Pinguster too?) as always. And I don't "harass" anyone in their battles. That's just an illusion. I only provide useful comments.

Also note that Junior is going to lose to me at Go again. Now that Aldaron has cemented his No.1 position on ShoddyBattle, I expect to see him defeating Colin at Go soon too.

Heh, this was actually a pretty good warstory. Teams were good, the spectator comments were by far hillarious, props to Light for using Swords Dance + Outrage Garchomp, and finally props to Aldaron for using Swords Dancing Lucario. Haha.

And also, good layout. For once in a long while it didn't hurt my eyes.

Nice warstory. It was a pretty interesting and suspenseful battle, the formatting made it easy to read, and the spectator comments were funny.

Also. I think I battled you last night or the night before under the name of wongeeto, which I think I won with alot of hax in the end with Discharge from my Magnezone paralyzing your Tar at the absolute worst moment, although I could be confusing you with someone else, but anyway, it was a well-played battle and a well-written warstory, good job.
