[OVERVIEW]

Heracross possesses a great Attack stat, making it one of the best physical attackers in the metagame. With its fantastic offensive typing, two very strong STAB moves in Megahorn and Close Combat, and access to coverage moves such as Stone Edge and Knock Off, it can be extremely hard to switch into. Due to its wallbreaking capability, Heracross has an excellent matchup against more defensive teams. Although Heracross's typing is amazing offensively, it isn't great defensively. Heracross's huge weakness to Gale Wings and Pixilate users such as Staraptor, Lucario, and Entei really hurts it, especially due to how common these Pokemon are. It can also be considered one of the most predictable Pokemon, usually running a Tough Claws set. Lastly, it has a lackluster Speed stat and mediocre bulk, which means it has a hard time performing well against more offensive teams.

[SET]

move 3: Knock Off
move 4: Swords Dance / Stone Edge / Facade
item: Life Orb / Lum Berry
ability: Tough Claws
nature: Adamant / Jolly
evs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Megahorn and Close Combat are Heracross's two strongest STAB moves and receive a boost from Tough Claws, heavily denting even walls that resist them. Knock Off hits incoming Flying- or Ghost-types such as Skarmory, Zapdos, and Doublade, crippling them by removing their item. Swords Dance boosts Heracross's Attack to massive levels, further augmenting its power in conjunction with Life Orb and Tough Claws. Although it isn't boosted by Tough Claws, Stone Edge can be used to hit Flying-types, most notably Zapdos. Facade can be used in case Heracross gets burned, paralyzed, or poisoned, giving it a very strong Normal-type move for neutral coverage.

Set Details
========

Life Orb gives Heracross a nice boost to its power and lets it switch to any of its great coverage moves at any time. Lum Berry is a nice alternative that gives Heracross a one-time immunity to status ailments from the likes of Mew and Breloom. An Adamant nature with maximum investment in Attack and Speed allows Heracross to hit as hard as possible while outspeeding as many Pokemon as possible. Tough Claws gives a boost to all of Heracross's contact moves.

Usage Tips
========

Heracross should be used as a wallbreaker due to its insane Attack stat in conjunction with Tough Claws. Try to always keep entry hazards off the field, as the Life Orb recoil already wears down Heracross relatively quickly. Never keep Heracross in on potential Gale Wings users such as Skarmory and Braviary, as it will instantly get KOed due to its 4x weakness to Flying-type moves. Using one of Heracross's main strong STAB moves may not always be the best idea depending on the team matchup. If the opponent has an obvious switch-in, it might be wise to choose Knock Off to cripple the foe. Never switch Heracross in directly, as its lackluster defenses will force it to take a ton of damage even from a resisted attack.

Team Options
========

Heracross really appreciates Pokemon that resist Flying-type attacks such as Aegislash and Doublade, as they can combat Gale Wings users. It can also benefit from having bulky Intimidate users such as Hippowdown and Zapdos to handle Flying-types. Sweepers and cleaners such as Lucario and Staraptor appreciate Heracross's ability to break down defensive cores. Entry hazard setters such as Deoxys-D and Deoxys-S make Heracross's job as a wallbreaker a bit easier. Conversely, entry hazard removers such as Skarmory and Mandibuzz prevent Heracross from being worn down as easily. Wish passers such as Umbreon and Vaporeon can keep Heracross healthy and give it a free switch with Baton Pass. Bulky Flash Fire users such as Heatran and Doublade can take on Fire-types; in addition, these two can switch into Refrigerate and Pixilate users such as Victini, Entei, and Lucario. Lastly, Heracross also appreciates the help of Electric-types such as Zapdos and Thundurus, as they can take on Pokemon that Heracross has trouble with like Suicune and Skarmory.

[SET]
name: Choice Scarf
move 1: Megahorn
move 2: Close Combat
move 3: Knock Off
move 4: Stone Edge / Earthquake

evs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Close Combat and Megahorn are Heracross's best STAB moves, hitting even Pokemon that resist it very hard coupled with Tough Claws. Knock Off is used to cripple incoming switch-ins such as Intimidate users like Zapdos and Mandibuzz. Either Stone Edge or Earthquake can be used for the last slot; although they aren't boosted by Tough Claws, they're still very strong and useful coverage moves, with Stone Edge hitting Flying-types and Earthquake hitting Poison-types, neither of which Heracross's STAB moves can hit effectively.

Set Details
========

Choice Scarf allows Heracross to become an effective revenge killer and cleaner if the opponent's team is weakened. Tough Claws gives all of Heracross's contact moves, including its main STAB moves, a nice boost. Tinted Lens is a great alternative to hit common switch-ins very hard without having to predict at all. Lastly, a Jolly nature and maximum investment in Speed and Attack allow Heracross to outpace as many threats as possible while maximizing its damage output.

Usage Tips
========

With a Choice Scarf, Heracross becomes a reliable revenge killer, so it should be used as one once a teammate faints. Never keep Heracross in on potential Gale Wings users such as Skarmory and Braviary, as it will be instantly OHKOed. Try to keep Heracross for the late-game, as it's also a great cleaner when equipped with Choice Scarf.

Team Options
========

Entry hazard setters such as Deoxys-S and Deoxys-D are great teammates for Heracross, as extra damage on the foe makes the job easier for any cleaner. Switch-ins to Flying-type moves such as Aegislash and Doublade are also great teammates, as any Gale Wings user will OHKO Heracross before it can move. Wish passers such as Vaporeon and Umbreon can keep Heracross healthy for the late-game even if entry hazards are on the field. Bulky Flash Fire users such as Heatran and Doublade can take on Fire-types; additionally, these two can beat Refrigerate and Pixilate users such as Victini, Entei, and Lucario. Heracross also appreciates the help of Electric-types such as Zapdos and Thundurus, as they can take on physically bulky Pokemon that are troublesome to Heracross like Suicune and Skarmory.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
========

Choice Band could be used, but Heracross usually needs to be able to switch to a coverage move on a non-Choice Scarf set, so it might not be the best option. Mega Heracross could be used with Illusion, Download, or Magic Bounce as its first ability, but Life Orb Heracross usually outdamages its Mega Evolution, making it a better stallbreaker.

Checks and Counters
========

**Priority Users**: Gale Wings users such as Skarmory, Staraptor, and Braviary can threaten out Heracross at any time with their Flying-type priority moves. Other priority users such as Pixilate Lucario and Entei can OHKO Heracross as well.

**Flying-types**: Flying-types such as Staraptor, Honchkrow, and Skarmory can all KO Heracross easily with their STAB moves.

**Intimidate Users**: Intimidate users such as Hippowdon, Zapdos, and Skarmory are excellent checks to Heracross due to Intimidate coupled with their great physical bulk and typing.

**Faster Pokemon**: Faster Pokemon like Victini, Latios, and Gengar can easily come in on a Choice-locked Heracross and KO it with any of their STAB moves due to how low Heracross's defenses are.

**Fairy-types**: Physically defensive Fairies such as Clefable and Sylveon can come in on any attack Heracross has to offer and threaten it out with their STAB moves.

This is QC ready I believe. I was debating adding a Mega Heracross set but I felt that it wasn't popular/viable enough so I just added it to OO

Overview
  • Heracross' speed stat should probably go into the negatives since it's outsped by most of the offensive metagame.
  • Also mention that this means it has a harder time pulling its weight against more offensive teams thanks to the aforementioned speed issue and its mediocre bulk.
  • No need to mention the actual base stats since those are available in the dex entry, just say it has a great attack stat and relatively low speed stat.
  • Mention that Heracross is one of the best wallbreakers in the metagame, and that it has an excellent match-up against defensive teams.
Set
  • Put Life Orb as the main item and slash Choice Scarf afterwards. I've tested both Choice Band and Life Orb quite a bit, and while Choice Band's instant power boost and lack of recoil are very useful a Life Orb + Swords Dance set has a far easier time breaking down defensive cores.
  • Slash Swords Dance as the main option in slot 4, and remove Earthquake. Ground-type coverage is pretty redundant with Fighting-type STAB for the most part, and Poison-types aren't common enough to merit running EQ
  • Slash Stone Edge before Facade for the omnipresent Zapdos.
  • Slash Adamant before Jolly since Heracross already outspeeds most walls and going Jolly doesn't really outspeed anything significant when using LO.
Moves
  • Like the stats in the Overview don't mention the base power on the moves here since they're directly available, and instead say that their high Base Power in conjunction with Tough Claws will allow Heracross' STABs to heavily dent even resists.
  • ...Skarmory, Zapdos, or Doublade, potentially crippling them with the loss...
  • The rest looks good, but don't forget to update this section for the moves on the main set. (And mention that Swords Dance should be used in conjunction with Life Orb specifically)
Set Details
  • Revamp this section due to the changes on the main set, and don't forget to note that Jolly is the nature of Choice when using a Choice Scarf and Adamant with Life Orb.
  • No need to compare Tough Claws with Life Orb, just saying it provides its contact move a power boost is fine (Also TC is a 33% increase while LO is 30%).
Usage Tips
  • Mention that should Heracross be running Life Orb that you should try to keep hazards off the field as much as possible, as hazards both Life Orb and hazard damage wear down Heracross very quickly.
Team Options
  • Mention Wish + Baton Pass users such as Vaporeon and Umbreon that can both keep Heracross healthy and give it free switch-in opportunities.
  • Expand Special Attackers to sweepers and cleaners which benefit from Heracross' ability to remove defensive cores.
  • Fully physically defensive Skarm can't stand up to Heracross, GW Skarm takes a gargantuan amount from Close Combat, and Doublade just can't be trapped since it's Ghost-type, so remove mentions of Magnet Pull here.
  • Mention entry hazard users such as Deo-S to facilitate wallbreaking.
  • Mention Defog, Rapid Spin, and Magic Bounce users for the Life Orb variant to remove / prevent entry hazards on your side of the field for the same reason in Usage Tips.
Other Options
  • Remove LO and SD since they're now on the main set.
  • Add Band and EQ since they're no longer on the main set.
Checks and Counters
  • Mention Fairy-types, since when physically invested they can come in on pretty much anything Heracross has to offer and strike back with a super-effective Moonblast.

I know Kl4ng told you to do this and I hate to say this but LO and Choice Scarf play completely different, one being used as a wallbreaker and one as a cleaner. In my opinion they really do need to be seperated into two sets. It also looks better as right now it would imply Choice Scarf + Swords Dance is a good option lol. On the bright side, this does look pretty nice so if you do that it won't be long before you get the second stamp !_!

Overview: EQ is not on the set so don't mention it here.

UT: 'Using one of Heracross's main strong STABs may not be the best idea at all times. It's best to use Knock Off early game if its obvious that Heracross will force a switch.' While Knock Off is nice to wear down switchins, what move you should use completely depends on the opponents team so reword this a bit.

OO: Give examples of Poison-types EQ hits. Mention why Mega Heracross is usually not advised. Also Tintied Lens isn't too shabby.

C&C: Instead of Gale Wings mention Flying-types as a category because they all do a good job at taking Heracross on. Just give Gale Wings a shoutout in that category. Intimidate users, while technically decent answers, can be a lot of Pokemon including those that actually lose to Heracross so make sure to say that only a select few bulky users take it on. Also Hippo loses to SD which is the best move in the last slot. Faster Pokemon beat non-choiced sets too.

I split it into 2 sets and implemented everything. Most of the sections sound similar to the other set's sections but I tried to make it sound different. But yeah, let me know how they look!

Overview
  • add onto gale wings that heracross also suffers a weakness to pixilate, which means even with a scarf, struggles to handle certain offensive pokemon like entei, lucario, and arcanine.
Set Details
  • slash lum berry on Life orb set.
  • add tinted lens to scarf set
Moves
  • slash pursuit on scarf set over Stone edge
Team Options
  • mention something to handle entei, which both threatens hera with espeed, while also potentially crippling a switchin with a burn.
  • hera also appreciates electric types like thundurus for their ability to take on suicune and skarm, both of which can either cripple, or outright KO hera.
Other Options
  • remove everything about mega hera being slower, and a "sub par ability" in skill link(its not bad, it would prolly be its best set if it wasn't for tough claws, they both destroy stall just as effectively to be honest and speed doesnt matter for a wallbreaker) and instead mention that life orb hera simply outdamages it, making it a much better stallbreaker
Checks and Counters
  • give gale wings its own catigory, and add on pixilate into it, and mention that every common ate/gale wings user also can also semi-safely switch in on one of heras STAB moves.

Oh oops, I thought I had done this already.

I still think you should mention Flying-types in C&C because they prevent it from spamming its STABs and obviously have no trouble knocking Heracross out.

Got nothing else to add actually so 3/3.

I presume it's good neutral coverage, but you should clarify that).

Heracross really appreciates the help of Pokemon that resists Gale Wings Brave Bird Flying-type attacks such as Aegislash or and Doublade, as they can combat Gale Wings users. [OVERVIEW]

Heracross possesses a great Attack stat, making it one of the best physical attackers in the metagame. With its fantastic offensive typing, two very strong STAB moves in Megahorn and Close Combat, and access to coverage moves such as Stone Edge and Knock Off, (AC) it can be extremely hard to switch-(RH) in(remove space)to. Due to its wallbreaking capability, Heracross can has an excellent team match-(RH)up against more defensive minded teams. Although Heracross's has great qualities, it also possesses some flaws as well. Although it does have great offensive typing is amazing offensively, its isn't great defensively typing isn't the greatest. Heracross's huge weakness to Gale Wings and Pixilate users such as Staraptor, Lucario, and Entei really hurts it, especially due to how common these Pokemon are. It can also be considered one of the most predictable Pokemon, usually running a Tough Claws set. Lastly, it does have has a lackluster Speed stat and mediocre bulk, which means it has a hard time performing well against more offensive minded teams due to this speed and its mediocre bulk.

Megahorn and Close Combat are Heracross's two strongest STAB moves, each with a huge base power, (a tad redundant) and in conjunction with receive a boost from Tough Claws, (AC) can even heavily denting even walls that resist them. Knock Off is for hits incoming Flying- or Ghost-types such as Skarmory, Zapdos, and Doublade, crippling them with the loss of by removing (subjective) their item. Swords Dance boosts Heracross's Attack to massive levels, further augmenting its power in conjunction with the Life Orb and Tough Claws. Although it isn't boosted by Tough Claws boosted, Stone Edge can be used to hit Flying-types, most notable being Zapdos. Facade can be used in case Heracross gets burnt burned, paralyzed, or poisoned, giving it a very strong Normal-type move (what exactly does a Normal-type move do for it? I presume it's good neutral coverage, but you should clarify that).

A Life Orb gives Heracross a nice boost to its power as well as and lets it switch to any of its great coverage moves at any time. A Lum Berry is a nice alternative that gives you Heracross a one-time immunity against to status ailments from the likes of users such as Mew or and Breloom. An Adamant nature with maximum investment in Attack and Speed allows Heracross to hit as hard as possible while outspeeding as many Pokemon as possible. Tough Claws is Heracross's ability of choice as it gives a boost to any all of its Heracross's contact moves.

Usage Tips
========

Heracross should be used as a wallbreaker due to its insane Attack stat in conjunction with Tough Claws (I really don't like this section but it's technically not incorrect...). Try to always keep entry hazards off the field, as the Life Orb recoil and hazard damage already wears down Heracross relatively quickly. Never keep Heracross in on any potential Gale Wings users like such as Skarmory or Braviary, as it will instantly get KOed due to its 4x weakness to Flying-type moves. Using one of Heracross's main strong STAB moves may not always be the best idea at all times depending on the team match-(RH)up. If the opponent has an obvious switch-in, (AC) it might be wise to choose Knock Off to cripple the Pokemon foe. Never pivot into switch Heracross in directly, (If you send Heracross in off of a pivot, it's usually not gonna take any damage) as its lackluster defenses will allow it to take a ton of damage even as from a resisted attack.

Team Options

Heracross really appreciates the help of Pokemon that resists Gale Wings Brave Bird Flying-type attacks such as Aegislash or and Doublade, as they can combat Gale Wings users. It can also benefit from having Bulky bulky Intimidate users like such as Hippowdown and Zapdos to handle the birds Flying-types. Sweepers and Cleaners cleaners such as the aforementioned Gale Wings users are great teammates as they (list some SPECIFIC sweepers and cleaners) appreciate Heracross's ability to break down defensive cores. Entry Hazard users like hazard setters such as Deoxys-D or and Deoxys-S are great teammates as they make Heracross's job as a wallbreaker a bit easier. Hazard Conversely, entry hazard removers for Heracross's Life Orb set such as Skarmory or and Mandibuzz are great teammates as they prevent Heracross from being worn down fairly as easily. Wish Passers passers such as Umbreon and Vaporeon can keep Heracross healthy as well as and give it a free switch-in with Baton Pass. Bulky Flash Fire users such as Heatran and Doublade are great teammates for Heracross as they can take on Fire-types; in addition, these two can switch into, (RC) Refrigerate, (RC) and Pixilate users such as Victini, Entei, and Lucario.

Moves
========

Close Combat and Megahorn are Heracross's best STAB moves, hitting anything very hard coupled with Tough Claws, including Pokemon that resist it. Knock Off is used to cripple any incoming switch-ins such as Intimidate users like Zapdos and Mandibuzz. Either Stone Edge or Earthquake can be used for the last slot;.(SC) although they aren't boosted by Tough Claws, they're still very strong and useful coverage moves, with Stone Edge hitting Flying-types and Earthquake hitting Poison-types, neither of which Heracross's STAB moves can hit effectively.

Set Details

Choice Scarf allows Heracross to become an effective revenge killer and cleaner if the opponent's team is weakened. Tough Claws gives all of Heracross's contact moves, including its main STAB moves, a nice boost. Tinted Lens is a great alternative to hit common switch-ins very hard without having to predict at all. Lastly, a Jolly nature and maximum investment in Speed and Attack allows Heracross to outpace as many threats as possible while maximizing its damage output.

Usage Tips
========

With a Choice Scarf, Heracross becomes a reliable revenge killer, so it should be used as one once a teammate faints. Never keep Heracross in on any potential Gale Wings users such as Skarmory and Braviary, as it will be instantly OHKOed. Try to keep Heracross for the late-game, as it's also a great cleaner when equipped with Choice Scarf.

Team Options
========

Entry hazard setters such as Deoxys-S and Deoxys-D are great teammates for Heracross, as any extra damage on the foe makes the job easier for any cleaner.

Other Options
========

Choice Band could be used, but Heracross usually needs to be able to switch to any of its coverage moves, so it might not be the best option. (isn't this a strange thing to say on a Scarf set?) Mega Heracross could be used with the Illusion, Download, or Magic Bounce as its first ability, but Life Orb Heracross usually outdamages its Mega Evolution, making it a better stallbreaker.

**Intimidate Users**: Intimidate users such as Hippowdon, Zapdos, or and Skarmory are excellent checks to Heracross due to Intimidate coupled with their great physical bulk and typing.

**Faster Pokemon**: Faster Pokemon like Victini, Latios, and Gengar can easily come in on a Choice-locked Heracross and KO it with any of their STAB moves due to how low Heracross's defenses are.

**Fairy-types**: Physically defensive Fairies such as Clefable and Sylveon can come in on any attack Heracross has to offer and threaten it out with their STAB moves.
you use "any" 13 times and it makes me uncomfortable. i didn't really do anything (heh) else though, so STAMP for Threw

GP 2/2

Due to its wallbreaking capability, Heracross can has an excellent matchup against more defensive teams.

Moves
========

Swords Dance boosts Heracross's Attack to massive levels, further augmenting its power in conjunction with the Life Orb and Tough Claws. Although it isn't boosted by Tough Claws, Stone Edge can be used to hit Flying-types, most notably notable being Zapdos. Facade can be used in case Heracross gets burned, paralyzed, or poisoned, giving it a very strong Normal-type move for neutral coverage.(AP)

Set Details
========

Usage Tips
========

Heracross should be used as a wallbreaker due to its insane Attack stat in conjunction with Tough Claws. Try to always keep entry hazards off the field, as the Life Orb recoil already wears down Heracross relatively quickly. Never keep Heracross in on any potential Gale Wings users such as Skarmory or and Braviary, as it will instantly get KOed due to its 4x weakness to Flying-type moves. Using one of Heracross's main strong STAB moves may not always be the best idea depending on the team matchup. If the opponent has an obvious switch-in, it might be wise to choose Knock Off to cripple the foe. Never switch Heracross in directly, as its lackluster defenses will allow force (subjective/connotation) it to take a ton of damage even from a resisted attack.

Team Options
========

Conversely, entry hazard removers for such as Skarmory and Mandibuzz prevent Heracross from being worn down as easily.
