Welcome to the NEW Pokemon Platinum/HGSS Battle Frontier and Diamond/Pearl Battle Tower discussion thread! With the previous threads locked away in Greatest Hits, the purpose of this thread is to provide a new hub for people to discuss and declare records for the various facilities of the 4th Generation Pokemon games.

Want to chat about the Gen IV Battle Frontier? Visit the Battle Tree Discord Server: https://discord.gg/QrsE2ep (courtesy of turskain)

General Tips and Leaderboard Requirements

  • All of the regular Smogon and Orange Islands rules apply.

  • Feel free to discuss just about anything about the teams and strategies you use, the enemy Pokemon and move-sets you encounter, any interesting AI behaviours you have noted, and your streak successes and failures. Theorymoning is encouraged as well. Free form discussion is really helpful, so don't be shy, even if you're posting about a very early loss or a poorly optimized team.

  • The following minimum win streak requirements have been set to qualify for inclusion of any NEW streaks:
    • Battle Tower:
      • Single and Double Battle modes of Battle Tower (all versions) - 100 wins
      • Multi modes - 49 wins
    • Battle Factory (all modes and levels) - 28 wins
    • Battle Hall (all modes) - 170 wins
    • Battle Castle (all modes) - 49 wins
    • Battle Arcade (all modes) - 49 wins
    • These are subject to change. I have not set minimum requirements for "dead"/niche formats at this time (Wi-Fi, Tower speed-runs, etc).

  • To submit a streak, please state the length of your streak (this will be the number of consecutive wins in most cases), the method of play (retail vs. emulator) and the facility/mode in which you achieved the streak. Also include details of your team. If possible, it would be useful to include a screenshot displaying your win streak and/or a recording of your losing battle. However, the best proof you can provide for a streak is simply to demonstrate your knowledge of the game and how your team works: discuss your team, including your team building process, general strategies, and known threats and how you play against them. War-stories are also a great thing to include in a write-up if you have any interesting battles and/or close calls from your streak you want to share.

  • Records on emulators are eligible as well as any Pokemon obtained from an emulator. Records on emulator will be marked differently so that other interested parties wanting to replicate a leaderboard team can recognize the differences at which each team can be played. Due to how easy it is to cheat streaks on emulator, having concrete proof such as recorded videos or detailed write-ups is heavily encouraged. I reserve myself the right to ask for any additional recorded footage if I do not trust your streak enough in order to add it as leaderboard material.

  • Streaks must be done on legitimate copies of the game. Emulator streaks must be done on unedited ROMs without any patches. Bootlegs, ROM-hacks or fan-translations will not be allowed.

  • The various facility threads rely on a system of trust. As such, I ask that you don't give into any temptations you may have to cheat just to get on a leaderboard. It should go without saying that backing up your save files and the like to artificially extend your streak is not allowed. I reserve the right to exclude any streaks deemed to be suspicious.
    • Update (Dec 2022) - most hacked and "illegitimate" Pokemon are now permitted as along as the sets themselves are perfectly legal and can be obtained legitimately on cart. Further details are below:
atsync said:
Announcement: with these new streaks that have been posted since my last update, I have felt the need to reconsider some of the rules in place for streaks to be eligible for listing in the first post. I have tentatively decided to relax the rule banning streaks that utilize "legal" hacks. If the Pokemon you are using has a completely legal move set, it meets the criteria to be listed here - the origin of said Pokemon need no longer be a concern.

For the sake of clarity, things that are eligible include:
  • Hacked Pokemon with completely legal move sets (Pkhex, etc.)
    • Note that this includes legal PID/IV combinations. For those unaware, due to the way that the RNG works in 3rd and 4th gen, there are certain combinations of natures/genders/abilities/etc. and IVs that can never be generated in-game on wild Pokemon. This is irrelevant for breed-able Pokemon, but for Pokemon that can only be caught in the wild (e.g. legendaries), there are certain PID/IV combinations that they are unable to use. It is ultimately your responsibility to ensure that your Pokemon have legal PID/IV combos when submitting streaks.
  • Pokemon sourced from emulators and transferred to your cartridge
  • Pokemon historically sourced from the now defunct Pokecheck
  • Pokemon sourced from Wi-Fi events that are "officially" closed but are now re-accessible from Alt Wi-Fi, etc. (e.g. shiny roamers, Eruption Heatran)
  • Pokemon obtained with glitches, or with move sets constructed with glitches (e.g. 4th gen Rage glitch, Glitzer Popping)
The ONLY exception I have to this at the moment is regarding the 3rd gen Wish Egg event that gave players access to Wish Chansey, Farfetch'd, Drowzee, Exeggcute, Lickitung and Kangaskhan. The main purpose of this rule change is to subvert the tediousness of obtaining things that are realistically obtainable within the games. The Wish Egg event was an obscure event that ran for a few weeks in 2005 - flawless and "optimally-natured" variants of these Pokemon don't exist as far as I know, so I don't think allowing hacked variants of these things is appropriate given that they are literally only obtainable through illegitimate means, even if they are technically "legal". This might seem a bit arbitrary but I don't think it's all that big of a deal since it only affect access to a small group of Pokemon that I doubt would be tearing up facility play anyway.

In terms of legality, I only really care about battle-based things - I'm not going to scrutinize dumb stuff like place of capture or whatever. Otherwise, it is your responsibility to ensure that the Pokemon you use have completely legal move sets, and I reserve the right to reject streaks on this basis.

Finally, I want to make it clear that this should not be taken as an invitation to ask for help with hacking. Under no circumstances should you be using this thread for asking for links to hacking tools, ROMs, emulators, etc.

To override level, type the desired level into the box above the Singles/Doubles toggle at the top of the field section. To override IVs, type the desired IV value into the IV Tier box located under the Type/Gender/Level section of the Pokemon. These overrides are most useful for the Battle Hall where the levels and IVs of opponents are usually different from other facilities.)

I'm unfortunately on emulator, so I won't be reporting a streak, but I will be following this thread. I got all the symbols years ago, but there's a team for the Battle Tower that I want someone to test.

Basically a Cress lead to disable the opponent lead to allow Salamence to set up. T-wave, flash, skillswap for volt absorb and clear body users. Kasib Berry to guaranteed tank shadow balls from Gengar. Enough speed to outspeed 115s, such as Jynx who can put you to sleep. Skarmory to phase any physical boosters, provide torment support and check dangerous grounds in Flygon and Garchomp.

Mence is a simple spread of near max attack and near max speed( hits 151 speed) to out speed +base 85's (Kingdra, Heracross), with the rest dumped into hp. 156 attack evs are the bare minimum for 2koes against steels, but you ideally want 244 for getting the damage rolls.
https://pokepast.es/97fdd01227d12637

Damage Calculations
+6 156+ Atk Salamence Dragon Claw vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Rhyperior: 441-519 (101.6 - 119.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO
+6 156+ Atk Salamence Dragon Claw vs. 252 HP / 252 Def Skarmory: 171-202 (51.1 - 60.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
+6 244+ Atk Salamence Dragon Claw vs. 0 HP / 252+ Def Hippowdon: 196-232 (107.1 - 126.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO
+6 244+ Atk Salamence Dragon Claw vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Metagross: 123-144 (65.7 - 77%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
+3 244+ Atk Salamence Dragon Claw vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Swampert: 207-244 (100 - 117.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO
+5 244+ Atk Salamence Dragon Claw vs. 0 HP / 252+ Def Lapras: 222-262 (108.2 - 127.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO
+2 244+ Atk Salamence Dragon Claw vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Vaporeon: 229-271 (96.6 - 114.3%) -- 81.3% chance to OHKO
+4 244+ Atk Salamence Dragon Claw vs. 0 HP / 252+ Def Slowbro: 156-184 (91.7 - 108.2%) -- 50% chance to OHKO

https://pokepast.es/269c9aec39b744db- Fast Mence.
https://pokepast.es/adbcbbeed1c77d64- Bulky Mence (88 hp for 16+1 leftovers number and good overall bulk, speed ties with Lucario )

Potential Threats
Ground types- esp Flygon and Garchomp. Gonna need to stall them out or phaze if they lead.
Regirock 1 calc- +6 252+ Atk Salamence Dragon Claw vs. 0 HP / 252+ Def Regirock: 255-300 (84.7 - 99.6%)
The team hates status and potential trick users
Bulky water types with ice beam- can get frozen
If you don't get the debuffs off to safely let Salamence set up, you lose, so play carefully.

You don't know how happy I am to see a new forum that I am actually here for not reading 11 years after things were posted. When HeartGold came out I was playing gold, just gold. Since that time I have played multiple games through generation 6. I spent much time on emerald failing miserably on the battle tower.

A few months ago I restarted and played through HeartGold and just last week received my first colored print. Since, I now have 2 colored prints, one in the tower and one in the arcade. I think I am going to try to get castle and battle hall before I push through the tower and see how high I can get. I will be posting things later about my team builds and strategies used.

Got my first Gold symbol in Gen IV frontier at Battle Castle! Here's the scoop.

I decided to go for 2 Drag + 1 Tran, a strategy I saw in the subway thread ages ago. Latios and Salamence are complementary offensive mons, absolutely wrecking the early rounds and allowing me to farm tons of CP from leveling up the opponent. As for Salamence's moveset, this comes from me lacking BP and taking what i can get. Luckily with this gold run I have accumulated a fair amount of BP to where I can start using tutors, so Outrage and Aerial Ace are in my future. The Heatran is from my old 2009 Platinum cart and is based on a Smogon set from back in the day. The EVs are optimized for Gen 4 OU (when it was current gen), so they have no specific purpose here. I just went with what I had available to me and didn't change the moves. Believe it or not, all of those moves have found usage (Metal Sound comes in clutch more often than you might think), but I will probably dump Torment for Protect. I basically use it as a pivot to take Ice attacks and weaker offensive moves so I can keep Latios and Salamence as healthy as possible.

By the time I reached round 7, I had amassed 356 CP. I checked opponent 1's team: Whiscash, Hippowdon, and Froslass. It looked a bit too haxy for me and I was hungry for the gold. After some discussion with the dudes on discord, I passed on the first six battles and went straight for the brain. I was able to level down two of Drarach's mons, so I went with Empoleon and Gallade since Entei was pretty much helpless against my whole team -- I even thought about leveling that up, maybe I should have in hindsight. My lead was Salamence and Drarach led with Gallade. I stomached the Stone Edge and Dragon Claw'd for the 2HKO. Earthquake was a OHKO on level 45 Emoleon, and Entei went down in 3 hits due to Shuca.

I'd like to thank all the usual suspects in the old gens facilities discord for putting up with my bitching and answering endless questions. This gen's frontier is still very fresh for me. I haven't looked at any of the spreadsheets due to spending so much time breeding, RNGing, and level-grinding. Now that I have a few mons and some BP on my hands for Power items and Tutors, I can start going with purposefully crafted movesets and teammates. This should free me up to start digging into those spreadsheets.

Finally, Hax Lopunny and every Lapras set can choke. Seriously. Proof of gold and streak below.

So I wanted to wait until I had a more impressive streak but I figure I will just do it now because I can't wait. I have currently have a streak of 63 on the battle arcade. One reason why I feel I was held back in emerald was because suicune is my favorite Pokemon and I refuse to not use it on my team for the battle frontier progress. (I will probably not use it in the battle hall :P) anyways here's my team and I will talk about the strategy at the end.

Garchomp
Nature: Adament
EVs Hp: 4 Attack: 252 Speed:252
Moves:
Outrage
Crunch
Swords Dance
Earthquake

The moves are a little out of the ordinary seeing as how I am missing fire fang or substitute. I have crunch because my team feels like it lacks psychic coverage. Used to have it partnered with a Tyranitar who had fire fang. Everytime I think to change it, it seems I use it so then I second guess myself. Overall the inspiration came from Jumpman. Yes, I know wrong nature too.

Suicune
Bold
EVs Hp: 252 Defense: 252 Special Defense: 4
Moves:
Surf
Ice Beam
Calm Mind
Rest

There it is. I freaking love this set. I loved it in emerald and will forever swear by it. I know nothing is perfect. This set is tanky and can get rolling in a pinch, vital to my strategy.

Scizor
Technician
Adament
EVs Hp: 200 Attack: 252 Defense: 4 Special Defense: 52
Moves:
Wing Attack
Swords Dance
Superpower
Bullet Punch

So I can't remember where I got the inspiration for this one, I'm sure whoever has a scizor on the leaderboard could be credited. I know wing attack isn't normal and usually substitute is here again I just can never seem to find good times to set up a sub like Jumpman or the other greats do. (Yes, I know they use trick leads and what not.) I love bullet punch and this has allowed me to invest in bulk.

Anyway my strategy has been so far to always give myself the type advantage. Basically if Garchomp is in and I know the other Pokemon has an ice move, Suicune will come in. If the opponent has an electric Garchomp comes in. If grass then Scizor. Then if fire, Suicune or Garchomp comes in. Obviously this isn't perfect but I love the versatility of battling this way. I haven't heard anyone really mention this except for pvp battles.

I have already had 2 close calls. One was at 62 and one before it. The one that was really close was garchomp took out the first Pokemon and out comes Gliscor. I figured why not outrage, not too much he can do to me. Gliscor counters for a kill on Garchomp. Ok Suicune, Gliscor is faster hits guillotine. Scizor hits bullet punch, guillotine misses. Scizor kills Gliscor then kills Shuckle.

Anyways here's my proof:

Battle 68... First up I see Aerodactyl followed by wailord then Porygon 2. I can't remember what I was aiming for on the board but I burned my team, that was the first step in my downfall. So Garchomp against Aerodactyl. I decided that I should just outrage and do damage then when Garchomp dies switch into scizor with bullet punch. (Exactly that happens) out comes wailord, ok switch to Suicune and takes a hydropump to the face. Suicune uses rest, wailord's fissure misses. Suicune asleep and wailord's fissure misses again. Ok I am thinking do I take a chance on the last fissure or sacrifice scizor. I decide to keep suicune in and calm mind while wailord for some reason uses hydropump... Ok? Calm mind again and wailord's fissure hits! Wtf! It's like they knew I was thinking about switching and tried to smoke scizor with a hydropump. Ok Scizor comes out and I swords dance while I think wailord hits with the last hydropump and leaves me with maybe 20% HP and burned. I superpower wailord to half health and die to his last attack. Streak ended at 67 wins.

Oh wow, didn't notice someone made this thread...

Currently still attempting Factory lv 50. This is as far as I've gotten. Despite not reaching Gold Thorton yet, apparently this facility is where more people struggle so I'm posting this record. I don't remember exactly which mons I used, I got a pretty bad first selection and I lost inmediately. I will beat this dreaded place someday...

For R3, Magneton is Triple S tier, if I get it there's a high chance I beat Silver Thorton. Magneton, Huntail and Gabite/Gligar/Sandslash is my ideal trio. Seriously considering training a Magnezone for the rest of the challenge...

PS. I once got a FREAKIN DRAGONITE IN R3!!! Don't know how I did it but it carried me to victory pretty easy.

Hi, this is average fella, also known as "the guy who spammed a discord channel attempting to get Hall Silver with Ditto". I had the bright idea in 2018 of trying to get Hall Silver with each and every mon in this order, including pre-evos, https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/List_of_fully_evolved_Pokémon_by_base_stats , and proceeded to fail Ditto and get to Unown because I had to devote over 40 hours to this thing called "school". Now that I don't have to commute and only dump 40 hours a week into sustaining myself, I started to grind through watching the poker monsters make funny moves on my pink DS Lite screen. Here's a sheet with some of my streaks: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Nv0qedCdqAYYlcPj1Ire7WtroYhHtIpoND6nlCot7-0/edit?usp=sharing

I momentarily entertained getting 170 with a few things, like Butterfree (has to get lucky like 5 times with sleep turns and has to hit 97.5% sleep powder in like 20 crucial moments), Plusle (must avoid a few mons and you need to have like 3 Plusles with different HPs and weird movesets, also must dodge a problem mon as late as battle 90), and Minun(same as Plusle, except I got really lucky on my first try and got like 120), but I knew that the first mon I would come across that had honest-to-God 170 potential without an ungodly amount of time devoted to it would be Medicham, which seems like cheating, since I'm using an actual good mon between Sudowoodo and Bibarel.

In Hall, Fake Out is really, really good. If you remember things that have Inner Focus, you can rack up some free damage against like 85% of the Hall, which can result in a much easier time with 1v1s, you will usually get at least 3 hits in if you use another priority move(the thing that vaulted a shitmon like Spinda to 120). Gen 4's greatest flaw is that you can't put Psycho Cut-Fake Out-Bullet Punch on the same Cham, Spinda can get Fake Out+Psycho and Hariyama can get Fake Out+Bullet. I decided to just concede and use Zen Headbutt rather than not having the ability to use 3 moves if they can ohko me. The levels 38 are jump points and i cba to grind 12 more levels.

My order went like:
START WITH FIRE PUNCH ON COVERAGE
Cover Ghost, Cover Bug, HEART SCALE THUNDERPUNCH ON COVER IN LIEU OF FIRE, Cover Dark, STAB Fighting, STAB Fire, Cover Psychic, Cover Water, STAB Electric, STAB Ground, Cover Grass, STAB Normal, Cover Flying, STAB Poison, Cover Dragon, STAB Ice, STAB Steel, STAB Rock

For post-170, I used STABCham first and just did all the STABcham types in order, then let Covercham do the same to the coverage types, with the difference that i did Psy after Bug, and never used any heart scales. I finally lost on Volt Absorb Lanturn with Covercham.

Fake Out's spare 20-40% damage doesn't result in an instant win, I do have enemies:
- The fact that it's annoying to get more Heart Scales. like, it's emerald cloning, but i dun wanna :[ if i optimimzed this fully i would do bug way later, but this minimizes heart scale use to 1 per run instead of 3 per run [fire-thunder instead of fire-thunder-fire-thunder]
- Zen Headbutt. Missing it vs rank 10 Gengar did indeed make me consider switching to non-BP, but I eventually just decided that i cba to breed a third Medicham for this thing that should be reasonably simple.
- Getting parahaxed by Electric. Virtually everything has this problem besides Chomper, but I don't like it all. Remove paralysis.
- Any Ghost. Inner Focus isn't as huge a concern, seeing as everything with it buckles to one move from Cham and a Bullet Punch.

Fails included various ghost fails, Rank 10 Poison Gengar dodging a zen headbutt, Argenta2 bringing a Yanmega and having the nerve to give it Speed Boost instead of Tinted Lens for devastating unresisted Reversal action, Infernape choosing to Fake Out, Argenta2 bringing Cresselia, and an unfortunate quick claw proc. Not nearly as eventful as Ditto or Wurmple.

thanks to the facilities discord for expressing wonderment at my dumb runs with shitmons and tolerating my commentary of them. also i got 181 with garchomp but who cares

Pretty unhappy with this run but here we go, for archival purposes!

Reporting a completed streak of 80 in the Battle Arcade.

(sorry, I was too upset to remember to save a battle video)

Team
Note, first of all, that items are removed from both sides in the Battle Arcade. This means, notably, that opposing Pokemon are no longer able to hold luck-generating items like BrightPowder, Lax Incense, Quick Claw, Scope Lens, Razor Claw, King's Rock, and Razor Fang (and a whole host of other annoying items, like Focus Sash and Salac Berry on Endure/Reversal sets). This gives the player potentially a ton more control over how the game goes -- subject, of course, to misplays on the roulette board. (This streak lost to the roulette board in a pretty sad fashion.)

Since the main source of losses in the Battle Arcade is the roulette board, the team focuses on mitigating bad luck from there. The most notable way it does this is by having double Natural Cure users; it means that accidentally hitting a Freeze or Sleep tile has a 2/3 chance of having essentially zero effect, and hitting a Paralysis tile always has basically zero effect since Garchomp is also Paralysis-immune. (this is subject to how easy switching around is, I guess, but it hasn't been much of a problem for me.)

With these measures in place on the team, observe that it's generally not necessary to hit the optimal square on the roulette every single time; it's usually sufficient just to not get the hit catastrophically wrong (Item into Lagging Tail, Trick Room when your team is fast, Swap Teams). In fact, I've won out before in two of those three scenarios I just listed, so the roulette isn't even that bad. All of this sums to a surprisingly large amount of control over the game in a facility all about "luck".

This team was RNG'd for me (along with a bunch of other stuff!) by the wonderful Valentino23, so thanks to them!

Garchomp
Ability: Sand Veil
Level: 50
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Outrage
- Earthquake
- Brick Break / Dragon Claw??? / Aerial Ace?????
- Swords Dance

Typical SD sweeper Garchomp; I used Brick Break as its 3rd attacking slot in this streak but never clicked it a single time. I'm genuinely not sure what else to put in that slot, though; Dragon Claw could be nice maybe, for not being forced to lock into Outrage against every Ground-resisting opponent -- it seems a bit weak, but so is Brick Break, I guess. Now that I'm writing this, I think Aerial Ace is probably a nice option for covering Heracross, which otherwise gives the team a bit of trouble (Starmie can't OHKO it).

Blissey
Ability: Natural Cure
Level: 50
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Spe
Bold Nature
- Seismic Toss
- Toxic
- Substitute
- Soft-Boiled

There are probably only two moveslots on this Blissey worth commenting on, so I'll just go over those.

Toxic might be kind of an extraneous slot on this set in the sense that all it really does is speed up wins against already positive matchups (like against Pokemon with recovery, most special Ghost-types, etc.) but I think it's probably worth a slot just for the fact that it lets you deal damage to opponents without having to actually spend the turn doing damage. i think losing Leftovers recovery is quite significant for Blissey, and being able to go between Soft-Boiled and Substitute without having to weave in just really helps to solidify matchups. Having games not take an eternity and a half to complete is a bonus.

Substitute on Blissey seems to be very much a modern choice; most of the other sets I've seen from the records appear to run something like Flamethrower/Counter/Aromatherapy in its place. I've found it to be rather useful in assuring wins against OHKO sets, which appear to be one of the last lucky-heavy elements left in the Arcade, as well as in preventing random freezes and paralyses against various special Pokemon. Substitute definitely works better on faster sets; I would invest more EVs in Speed but I don't think I actually can, since this Blissey is Level 100 and can't gain EVs except through vitamins (so using berries to drop its Def EV to 100 would result in a spread of 252 HP / 100 Def / 56 SpDef / 100 Spe, which isn't great by any means).

Starmie
Ability: Natural Cure
Level: 50
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Surf
- Psychic
- Ice Beam
- Thunderbolt

Typical SPIT Starmie. I find that Starmie's damage output has been fairly lacking without an item like an Expert Belt or a Life Orb; it can't even guarantee some KOs like the 0/0 Heracross sets and it completely misses some others like the 252/0 Mamoswine sets. Fortunately, though both of these Pokemon are pretty significant threats to the team, the "team preview" feature in the Arcade means that I can sort of plan my win conditions better around them, so this ends up mattering less.

(An interesting anecdote: Starmie did end up carrying the team hard this one time when I accidentally hit an Item square on battle 2 of a set, only for the item to be Choice Specs. That's right, Choice Specs Starmie carried Choice Specs Garchomp and Choice Specs Blissey through 6 battles. Very epic Pokemon.)

Loss
Ironically, after all that thought about losing to uncontrollable circumstance, I lost to a completely controllable circumstance. The human brain works in mysterious ways; when I observed the board for battle 81 vs Jolteon/Hypno/Ampharos, I noticed there was a Swap Teams square. Obviously this is an instant-loss square especially in this case, but my brain didn't really note it as such, and I kind of forgot it was there. Even more tragic is that I actually already had a lowered board speed, and in my attempts to aim for some completely trivial board space (I've forgotten what it was now, something dumb like opponent -HP probably lol), I ended up hitting the Swap Teams square. As far as I'm aware there is literally no way to win from there, so I didn't.

Anyway, in the time it took me to write up this post I've already gone and won 28 battles in the Arcade, so I'm well on my way back. Hopefully I'll be able to post a better Arcade streak sometime, since I actually quite like it as a facility :)

These are my achievments from years ago, my best tower streak is 190 in platinum and my hall streak is 274 with Raikou, I can post and show more about my strategies if people want :)

I used the crown event shiny raikou, I soft reset for hours to get it with good ivs max speed and hp ice 70, and with aura sphere and shadow ball its coverage is insane, I gave it choice specs for obvious reasons and it is a powerhouse, the loss is pathetic tbh, it was a faster gengar that used hypnosis and then just ate my dreams to death lol.

Jeez this place is dead :(
If you would like to discuss the gen 4 frontier I would highly encourage you to come to the facilities discord: https://discord.gg/QrsE2ep. You find that the discord is a far more active avenue for discussion than this thread likely ever will be.

I have chosen not to add your claimed records at this time as, in my view, you have not provided a particularly adequate explanation or evidence of your streaks, especially given said Hall streak would rank second on the current list were it to be included. At the very least, I would like to see a picture showing your records, along with more specific information about IVs/EVs, the reasoning behind your move/item selections and said EVs, what level your Hall Raikou was at when you played, any notable threats in the Tower/Hall that you have identified, any interesting battles you may have had, etc.

Just to make sure I'm interpreting this right, are you saying you died to Dream Eater Gengar?

Posting this here to prevent it from getting lost - basically just a compilation sheet of some but not all of the resources in the OP (the ones I had csvs of archived) + René's trainer cheatsheet, in Google Sheets. Originally made since many of the original links went to Greatest Hits, which was inaccessible without being logged in, and original .csv links being dead. It's still not complete but a start and the sheet I've been using personally for the Frontier.

I hastily copypasted it together some years ago to have an easily linkable set of Frontier resources for Discord.

Hello! I've made a Generation IV Lookup function; this is basically an augmentation to the pre-existing Frontier data sheets available in the OP of this thread (or in the post above this one). You can access my sheet here. (Most of the sheets from the main collection might appear missing in my copy, but they're just hidden for neatness' sake; you can restore them from the menu via View > Hidden sheets.

Operating the sheet:
  • Recommended way of operating sheet: go to File > Make a copy in the menu in order to make a clone of the sheet that you can edit.
  • To use, look at the opposing trainer's name when you begin a battle. As they send out Pokemon (or if you've seen them in team preview, like in Arcade), you can enter the Pokemon species in any of the boxes.
  • Under the tab entitled Color Warning Settings, you can set two levels of warning status: red and orange. Placing any item or move in one of the two columns will cause it to appear in that color every time it's on a possible set.
Important notes:
  • The speed tier stat does not take items into account. This is because in the Arcade, opponents do not carry items, and multiplying Speed by 1.5 for a Choice Scarf is easier than dividing it.
  • Only trainers beyond battle 49 are represented here. I would love to add the rest of the trainers but I do not have information for them formatted in an appropriate manner (ie, one that does not require me to do hours of manual labor to transcribe roster information). If you happen across any pre-49 trainer information, please feel free to drop me a message (here or in the Battle Facilities Discord server).
  • I've used this sheet a few times and haven't come across any bugs, but probably not enough to constitute significant playtesting. Hopefully there are somehow no significant bugs in the sheet, but if you come across one, please let me know. I hope I don't accidentally ruin a significant streak with a bug :(
I have a few more features in mind for this sheet but I definitely do not have time to code them in right now, so I'm just dropping this as a sort of "alpha build" of the sheet in case there are people who would find this useful. Hope this helps people!

Yes I did sadly lol, was an irritating way to lose such a streak.

So I am not really good at writing long bios but I will try my best.

I will start with my battle hall record, So like I said I used the crown event raikou and managed to get a streak of 274 it is surprisingly powerful with its great coverage and stats, id say worst match ups were earth which I covered first and dodged the worst ones luckily, Cant remember what argenta used as it was so many years ago all I remember is losing to that silly gengar that used hypnosis and ate raikou's dreams for like 3 turns while he took a long nap lol.

Raikou event shiny
Nature rash
Ivs 26 15 22 27 27 31 Hp ice 70
Evs 6 hp 252 sp atk 252 speed
Item choice specs
Attacks, thunderbolt, hp ice, aura sphere shadow ball

Right moving on to battle factory

This place still gives me nightmares, in platinum I was insanely lucky and the rng haxed in my favor all the way through round 7 when many times I should have lost, like this time against a cresselia when it was maxed on doble teams and my heracross still hit with megahorn before dying then my last pokemon moltres came out and not only hit with flamethrower but also crit hit finishing off the battle and winning for us, then again in another battle when I was down to moltres with low health and they had alakazam who could easily finish me off but it chose to use focus blast and miss and moltres finished it off with flamethrower winning again, finally the battle against Thornton was a scary one, he led with suicune, not a pokemon you even want to see in the frontier, luckily heracross killed it with 2 megahorns, then came out the nasty focus sash mismagius that uses destiny bond and it killed my heracross and destiny bonded my moltres so we were both down to our last pokemon, mine was special garchomp his was umbreon, it was long battle of earth powers and moonlights till the time came to use draco meteor and end the game which it did.
However I was never this lucky ever in soulsilver the game has always haxed me to death in the most twisted and cruel ways, to the point it will use quick claw get a crit and freeze all in one move and stuff like this happens to me all the time, im not kidding it took me over 4 years to finally get the gold print from soulsilvers factory, not 4 years non stop lol, came back to it now and then, tho I had lost hope of ever getting it, but then I discovered it was alot easier to get further in level 50 so kept trying there, and one day with this awesome sceptile in round 7 it basically crit hit its way through most the round with its high crit atks and scope lens, against Thornton she told me leaned towards psychic types so I made the scary move of trading machamp for raichu, which later was glad I did as all 3 of his ended up being psychic meaning machamp would have done nothing, my awesome little team consisted of sceptile lanturn and raichu and his was cresselia hypno and slowking, the battle was not to hard and raichu ended his slowking for game, raichu is actually my fav pokemon so to complete my final challenge with my fav pokemon was such a beautiful way to end my journey.

Right onto the battle tower

Anyone who knows me will tell you I have no time for long winded fancy strategies, toxic spikes all that stuff bores the hell out of me, I am a straight to the point kinda guy and like to win fast and quickly or If I lose then lose fast to dont want to drag out the torture lol, my platinum tower team is exactly that its brutally fast strong has great coverage and insanly powerfull stab moves, very few pokemon can wall this team

Lead is infernape
Nature naive
Ivs 20 29 15 29 17 26
Evs 252 atk 6 sp atk 252 speed
Item focus sash
Moves
Fake out
U turn
Close combat
Overheat

Garchomp
Nature adamant
Ivs 10 31 31 31 31 31
Evs 6 hp 252 atk 252 speed
Item choice scarf
Moves
Outrage
Earthquake
Fire fang
Stone edge

Latios
Nature hasty
Ivs 7 14 28 25 11 28
Evs 6 hp 252 sp atk 252 speed
Item life orb
Moves
Draco meteor
Psychic
Grass knot
Ice beam

Pretty straight forward team hit to kill and move on lol, it works really well with great synergy and near perfect coverage

Thanks for reading this and feel free to ask any questions :D

Atem91 thank you for providing more information regarding your streaks.

This puzzles me a bit because Dream Eater Gengar does not exist as an opponent in the Battle Hall. Gengar's Hall set is:

H386 | Gengar | Timid | Razor Fang | Shadow Ball | Sludge Bomb | Hypnosis | Nightmare | Spd/SpA

So you can't have lost to Dream Eater.

Having played around with Raikou briefly in the Hall before, I do think that the various moves it got from the event (particularly Aura Sphere but also ExtremeSpeed) makes it a rather effective choice in Hall, and I can definitely see merit in running Choice Specs on it since it does grant it additional 1-2HKOes that other sets can miss, but if you really managed to get that far using only that set then you must have been absurdly lucky. The extra power is great and all, but you really are playing on the edge because using Choice Specs comes at the cost of the protection provided by the more standard Focus Sash, and just eye-balling your set against some of the potential opponents, your Raikou is just a single crit or activated side effect away from a loss against numerous things. Take this guy for example:

H341 | Whiscash | Quiet | Lax Incense | Earth Power | Water Pulse | Future Sight | Blizzard | SpA/SpD

In my experience, Whiscash is one of the most common opponents in Ground, so much so that I believe being able to beat it as reliably as possible is sort of important in the long run. I still don't know what level you played at, but assuming you played at level 100 (in which case all of the post-170 rank 10 opponents would be level 96 with IV=26):

252+ SpA Choice Specs Raikou Aura Sphere vs. 0 HP / 252 SpD Whiscash: 153-180 (44.7 - 52.6%) -- 22.7% chance to 2HKO
252+ SpA Whiscash Earth Power vs. 4 HP / 0- SpD Raikou: 230-272 (72.5 - 85.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

So more often than not you lose, since you have a low chance to 2HKO while Whiscash can 2HKO back consistently and might even OHKO with a crit. If you play at a lower level than 100 then the match-up is even worse since you lose the ability to 2HKO completely - you'd have to crit it yourself to win. There are numerous other things I could list here as well. (This includes Gastrodon, who has virtually the same set as Whiscash. Anecdotally speaking, Whiscash and Gastrodon collectively account for more of my opponents than any other Ground-type.) I imagine that if I tried to replicate that streak with the exact set you used I would be haxed out fairly early tbh.

Having said all that, you provided the information I asked and I have tentatively added your streaks to the leaderboard. In doing so, I hope you'll be encouraged to have another go at streaks, and I once again direct you to the discord if you are seeking a place to discuss teams and strategies since it's the most active place for that right now.

Could have sworn it was dream eater but must have just been hypnosis and shadow balls then .... as far as what you said is all valid but after taking out earth and waters you only have 2 chances out of every 17 battles to face them and quite frankly I Didnt find sash worth it since raikou is quite bulky and rarely gets 1 hit in the hall and the extra power from specs ensures you can 1 hit many pokes, I didnt make it on the first try but like anything if you keep trying soon or later you will get through.

Also what you quoted to me applies to the guy with the garchomp streak, I got the gold prints with Garchomp but never got further than 180 due to weavile always coming out, so id argue he was luckier than I am as at least my strategy had a chance of beating anything whereas using garchomp relies on weavile never showing up, not trying to put anyone down just pointing out the fact that we all rely on some of kind of luck to do anything in games XD
