Rules:

On Deadline & Match Completion
All players must complete their matches by Sunday 13th of February 23:59 PM EST. Any incomplete matches by that time will be subject to activity decision (MAKE SURE YOU POST ON YOUR OPPONENT'S VM WALL); otherwise, the game will be dead. NO Extensions will be granted.

On Substitutions & Lineups
Managers, if you wish to make any substitutions, you must post here tagging both the player you're subbing out, the player you're subbing in, the manager and assistant manager of the opposing team, the substitute's opponent, and myself. This is to assure that everyone is in-the-loop and that the OP is updated accordingly to reflect the new match-up.

Managers, when you send in lineups, please send it in with the tier and Smogon username of each player fully written out for ease of transcription.

So many similarities between the two it's nice to see them face off. I'm bolding Urf cause trash is prep heavy and urf brings a lot of unconventional stuff. good shit
BW: berryalcremie vs Zen this is unironically a MU I'm looking forward to, berryalcremie is a BW newblood that has been very into the meta building with a lot of cool sets. Their team compositions are a bit lackluster but that's easily fixable with teammates support. I'm curious to see how they'll fare against a more solid tours player with trashuny support
Multigen: Elo Bandit vs XSTATIC COLD same as Nalei you'd be somewhat insane to predict against XSC so early and against an opponent like Bandit. But I wouldn't be outraged to see a different result. Bandit has been secretly improving recently and his attitude is the winning one. XSC on the other hand didnt have the hottest performance in mg seeded really, losing somewhat early despite his #1 seed. XSC's Classic performance is of course not to be forgotten but Bandit still has the upper hand in DPP which could make it or break it. Somewhat hype matchup

SM: Freddy Kyogre vs Bopher freddy's a player that you kinda need to take by the hand in these times given how past his prime he is, it's very likely that he'll bring old teams if he doesn't have anyone to properly help him, and I don't think Rosa is able to give that degree of support. Besides, Bopher has some heatah techs that will catch freddy off guard very easily.
ORAS: OM vs Leru hype mu, Leru was an insane value 8k pick and he'll always be absurd with crucify support. Potato has been very high on OM and he claims proper support will make him a monster. We'll see
BW: Fakee vs Maki proxy jacob vs proxy william, I think only because it's the first week crucify is still very fresh, and Maki is a more experienced player that has done extremely well before, fakee will not be able to hold up well enough
Multigen: Potatochan vs eblurb as potato once claimed: "I have solved every single player's picking except eblurb's", so you would think eblurb has the advantage here. The deterrent is that the backlash that would occur if jacob were to lose to eric blurb and start off 0-1 after being paid 22.5k is just way too high for him to not win. He has to. Anyway, that said:

Metro Bomin' Megarays (6) vs (2) Drive-by Dragapults
SS Bo7: zioziotrip vs dogknees (55-45) : Surprising to see zio here, but he can do pretty much anything, and while returning-from-the-dead dogknees is a fantastic player as their best, zio's got the grind and building playing in his favor. Still think it's close tho.
SS: smely socks vs Here Comes Team Charm! (51-49) : two very solid swsh players with great buildings skill, may go to a g5 but I do think smely has what it takes to clutch the win away from hctc. HL.
SS: Yami vs pqs (52-48): Overall, I'd say this is a mu pqs would win more often than not. But we're in PL and pqs just often tends to crumble under pressure in a high stakes match like this, reason why I'm bolding Yami. Still wouldn't get surprised it ends up the other way around tho.
SM: Boat vs rumia (35-65): Boat's clearly not the worst SM player out there, but that's not sufficient to claim a win over rumia, who's been one of the top SM players for years now.
SM: LBDC vs Lancer Fr (55-45): Always hurt to see the French battling each other, but it has to be this way I guess. Moving on to the h2h, we've got 2 very solid SM players with lots of team tour experience. If I were to choose a winner tho, I'd go with LBDC, who's arguably proven to be the best SM player around. This will be a very exciting series to watch. HL.
ORAS: Inkreativ vs pj (60-40): Inkreativ's just a really solid player when he does play, and I don't see pj's clicking skill matching up with his.
BW: Itchy vs Sanshokuinsumireko (40-60): Despite Itchy being a decent BW player, sansho's the most experienced player of the pool by a significant amount and, while unexpected losses may happen, I'll likely bold them every week of pools phase.
Multigen: neomon vs Mubs (60-40): neomon might be back from the dead, but I still think he's got the clicking ability to win that one, backed up with one of the best possible supports in DEG's. Mubs is no joke of course, just don't think they've got that one.

Hyperspace Horrors (4.5) vs (3.5) Hellfire Heatrans
SS Bo7: IPF vs DenisTheMenace (30-70): Surprised to see IPF get thrown on the battlefield that is SS Bo7, moreover facing Denis week one. The Italian is an absolute top threat of the format and shouldn't have too much trouble to win this.
SS: Aliss vs Fragments (50-50) : "top 3 SS player" Aliss faces some good competition here in Fragments, a player basically able to defeat anyone in the pool on a good day. I just can't decide of a winner here, could really go either way depending on the circumstances. While team support may give the upper hand to Frag, Aliss has proven she can just do as well on her own. Imo, that's a HL.
SS: RTM vs ncalathes (55-45) : While SEU support is a very strong asset to have, RTM is the better clicker
SM: Squirtell 1v1 vs STABLE (55-45) : Stable keeps his gen-traveling journey going, and ends up in SM this time, facing historic player Squirtell. And it hasn't been succesful every time, honestly. Facing other gen specialists is no easy of a task, and I don't see Squirtell crumble here. I have to admit I'm kinda puzzled by heatrans opting for SM stable and MG close, while the opposite seemed at the bare minimum just as good.
SM: torterraxx vs gorilaa (65-35): torterraxx's an all-around solid player in all gens, facing a gorilaa whose strongest gen by a fair margin is SS. I just don't see the SEU support filling the gap between them in this gen, thus bolding torterrax.
ORAS: DezShizzels vs Joker 1v1 (45-55) : Both usually do well in ORAS and I expect a balanced series. This said, Joker often tends to pop-off in big team tournaments, and I expect him to take the win, if he doesn't bring magikarp teams mid-series that is.
BW: PA vs AOPSUser (60-40) : First BW series without an actual BW main on the field... and there'll be more. Bolding PA over the "tournament scene players that clicks well" here based on general 1v1 knowledge and experience.
Multigen: Jamez vs Close (45-55) : Quite a juicy MG mu here, with classic champion Jamez facing former runner-up Close. Jamez definitely has a shot in winning this, but Close's, well... Close... about as solid as you can get both clicking-wise and building-wise, he should take this. HL.

RPS Rhyperiors (1) vs (7) Playful Panchams
SS Bo7: Blanched vs Nalei (35-65): Nalei truly is someone you don't want to face in bo7, being only rivaled by a select few in this slot. Can Blanched pull the upset ? There's a world in which it happens I guess, but I don't see it happening here.
SS: Gym Socks! vs Mishlef (47-53): Well... that's tough to choose. Both are very good players and have done well by the past in team tours, with good building skills as well. Despite Gym being the reigning 1v1 circuit champ, I kinda feel like Mishlef'll get the upset, but it will be close for sure.
SS: Murman vs Scraftionite (40-60): Underestimating Murman can lead to unfortunate consequences, but former circuit champion Scraftionite's got the better clicking skills of the two, alongside high quality team support.
SM: TheShadowClaw vs Jabiru (55-45): We should see some quality SM gameplay here, and while both players've got a fairly similar skill level, I'm feeling tsc on that one, as it's someone who usually does well in team tours with a big focus on SM.
SM: lei vs Tol (30-70): Can't really hide my surprise to see lei slotted in SM week one. While Tol's surely not the strongest SM player around, he does his stuff, and I consider lei's big lack of experience in high level play to be too large of an issue to win that one.
ORAS: Urfgurgle vs Trashuny (40-60): I haven't seen much of oras Urf, but I'm still confident in bolding oras cup finalist Trashuny who likely has a better gen knowledge and team support than his opponent.
BW: berryalcremie vs Zen (45-55): Damn, the bw pool really is dire this year. berryalcremie's dedication in grinding bw in order to get drafted is one thing to consider, yet Zen just seems to be one of those tournament scene players who click well enough to warrant their team a handful of wins here and there.
Multigen: Elo Bandit vs XSTATIC COLD (30-70): Bandit sure is a good player, however, doesn't sound too much of a stretch to say xsc is a level above them in almost every gen of MG.

SS Bo7: tears vs crow crumbs (65-35): tears's just another of the bo7 monsters, making it just a rough mu for crow crumbs. Having crucify support can sometimes grow wings but I wouldn't say tear's one to come underprepared either. Therefore, expecting a Thwackey win here.
SS: nolenot vs crucify (30-70): NOLENOT PLAYING PL WOA. Joke aside, nolenot is a nightmare to play on ladder but just not someone I'd consider to have a chance vs crucify, surely one of the most solid players of the bo5 pool.
SS: D2TheW vs Rellia (49-51): It's fair to say both players can easily win this. 17k D2 on a good day is a SS powerhouse, and rellia's got the ability to get wins over pretty much anyone. Bolding them in regards of the team support : with crucify and bopher on the team, it's not ludicrous to think it can make the difference.
SM: Rosa vs Satanic Beast (52-48): Rosa's one of the cornerstones of competitive 1v1 play, and can basically beat anyone when she decides to. On the other hand, Edgar's no slouch either, having countless sm achievements under his belt. I won't be lying by saying the outcome will be decided by details, and respective motivation. I'll bold Rosa as she usually performs the best when we don't expect her to, but it could go either way. Definitely a HL.
SM: Freddy Kyogre vs Bopher (45-55): There are things that hint towards a Freddy win, such as him playing sm since basically prehistoric times or the fact that bopher's coming back from a 6 month break away from 1v1. This said, I'd rather bold his fellow CONE player tho, as he's made waves in sm by the past, such as a respectable PLV performance and winning the roa tour back in 2020. Bopher's usually really motivated when it comes to team tours, so I'm eager to see what he has in store this time.
ORAS: OM vs Leru (40-60) : OM seems to have some kind of subscription to the oras slot, and usually does alright without being incredible. They've got one problem tho : Leru clicks well. Remarkably well. So well that they're likely to get the upper hand over most of the pool if given good enough teams. They'll get these quality teams somehow, thus I don't think they'll drop that series.
BW: Fakee vs Maki (30-70): Maki's an insane clicker and has the shadow realm support to back it up, don't see them lose here.
Multigen: Potatochan vs eblurb (60-40): Hype mu but potatochan's been grinding multigen so I see him take the dub, while eblurb hasn't been doing too hot lately.
