1v1 Mend My Team
Approved by DripLegend bo_bobson27 and Itchy. Co-hosted by kenn
Welcome to Mend My Team, the project where you're presented with 2 Pokémon, and are tasked with finding a perfect third. There are no requirements for the third, so let your creativity go wild while trying to build the perfect team.

Rules
Let's set some rules, mostly stolen from lost heros and his BMT project
  1. Please be respectful of others on this thread.
  2. When submitting a Pokémon, include a basic analysis of Pokémon the core loses to, and how your submission covers those weaknesses
  3. You may copy a list of threats to beat from someone else, if you give them credit for it.
  4. Please only one submission per post, but a singular person can submit more than one Pokémon per cycle.
  5. Cores can come from anywhere! Every 4 weeks there will be a submission from the 1v1 Project Cycle, but other than that you may submit cores of 2 Pokémon to me whenever you want.
  6. Every cycle will last for one week, even if there isn't one planned the next week. This is better for my workload.
Good luck and I hope you enjoy!

With CLC concluded it's now time for the first MMT of the 1v1 Project Cycle. Thank you very much for laddering with the core of 2 Pokémon, and thanks to The God of 1v1 ❄ for providing the sets for this MMT.

Week 1
:ss/Hoopa-Unbound:
Hoopa-Unbound @ Assault Vest
Ability: Magician
Tera Type: Psychic
EVs: 248 HP / 12 Atk / 240 Def / 4 SpA / 4 Spe
Brave Nature
- Knock Off
- Gunk Shot
- Psychic Noise
- Focus Blast

:ss/Ursaluna:
Ursaluna @ Flame Orb
Ability: Guts
Tera Type: Ground
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 76 Def / 176 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Protect
- Facade
- Headlong Rush
- Avalanche
Due to real life obligations I'm unable to provide a detailed outline of this team's matchups and the benchmarks for these sets. For future MMTs I'll be sure to put in more of an effort to give you as much information to work with as possible.
In order to line up better with the following BMT cycle, the deadline for this MMT will be Saturday April 6th at 5AM UTC.

All right, the bad matchups for this core are as follows (in rough order of importance):
Ogerpon-H and -W, Regidrago, Meowscarada, Chien-Pao, Iron Hands, Corviknight, Urshifu-Single-Strike, Urshifu-Rapid-Strike, Baxcalibur, Offensive Iron Valiant, Haxorus (you never see this on ladder), Volcarona, Gouging Fire w/ Substitute, Klefki, Offensive Annihilape, Basculegion, Zarude, Conkeldurr, Iron Leaves, Slither Wing, Lilligant-Hisui (technically, but only two people even have this in their builder), Torterra (somehow)

For the purposes of choosing a third, I’m going to executively ignore substitute Gouging Fire and everything below as too uncommon. I’ll pull that back in later, but they’re not primary considerations.
As such, our list is:
Ogerpon-Hearthflame
Ogerpon-Wellspring
Regidrago
Meowscarada
Chien-Pao
Iron Hands
Corviknight
Urshifu-Single-Strike
Urshifu-Rapid-Strike
Baxcalibur
Iron Valiant
Haxorus
Volcarona

252+ Atk Normal Gem Sneasler Fake Out vs. 248 HP / 240 Def Hoopa-Unbound: 68-81 (18.7 - 22.3%) -- possible 5HKO
252+ Atk Sneasler Close Combat vs. 248 HP / 240 Def Hoopa-Unbound: 235-277 (64.7 - 76.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
I'm going to say we just outplay endure. Should we try? I don't know, but this threatlist is already brutal.
252+ Atk Choice Band Urshifu-Rapid-Strike Close Combat vs. 248 HP / 240 Def Hoopa-Unbound: 352-415 (96.9 - 114.3%) -- 81.3% chance to OHKO
252+ Atk Choice Band Baxcalibur Outrage vs. 248 HP / 240 Def Hoopa-Unbound: 382-450 (105.2 - 123.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ Atk Protosynthesis Great Tusk Headlong Rush vs. 248 HP / 240 Def Hoopa-Unbound: 307-363 (84.5 - 100%) -- 6.3% chance to OHKO
I’m counting this as acceptable, and I won’t be considering banded Great Tusk since it’s already uncommon enough.
252+ Atk Choice Band Sword of Ruin Chien-Pao Giga Impact vs. 248 HP / 240 Def Hoopa-Unbound: 370-436 (101.9 - 120.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ Atk Life Orb Okidogi Close Combat vs. 248 HP / 240 Def Hoopa-Unbound: 304-359 (83.7 - 98.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ Atk Choice Band Glastrier Icicle Crash vs. 248 HP / 240 Def Hoopa-Unbound: 271-319 (74.6 - 87.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ Atk Choice Band Donphan Earthquake vs. 248 HP / 240 Def Hoopa-Unbound: 279-328 (76.8 - 90.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ Atk Life Orb Blaziken Flare Blitz vs. 248 HP / 240 Def Hoopa-Unbound: 289-341 (79.6 - 93.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
0+ Atk Choice Band Adaptability Basculegion Wave Crash vs. 248 HP / 240 Def Hoopa-Unbound: 342-404 (94.2 - 111.2%) -- 62.5% chance to OHKO
I don’t know what sets Basculegion runs outside of choice band and kill everything, but I’m assuming they run more than 0+ attack and a little bit of speed, meaning this is a loss.

252+ SpA Pixilate Sylveon Hyper Beam vs. 248 HP / 0 SpD Assault Vest Hoopa-Unbound: 306-362 (84.2 - 99.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ SpA Choice Specs Adaptability Porygon-Z Hyper Beam vs. 248 HP / 0 SpD Assault Vest Hoopa-Unbound: 294-348 (80.9 - 95.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 SpA Life Orb Volcarona Bug Buzz vs. 248 HP / 0 SpD Assault Vest Hoopa-Unbound: 421-499 (115.9 - 137.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO
24 SpA Diancie Moonblast vs. 248 HP / 0 SpD Assault Vest Hoopa-Unbound: 114-134 (31.4 - 36.9%) -- 70.1% chance to 3HKO
12+ Atk Hoopa-Unbound Gunk Shot vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Azumarill: 346-408 (85.6 - 100.9%) -- 6.3% chance to OHKO
0 SpA Hoopa-Unbound Focus Blast vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Assault Vest Urshifu: 276-326 (80.9 - 95.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
4 SpA Hoopa-Unbound Psychic Noise vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Diancie: 91-108 (29.9 - 35.5%) -- 23.8% chance to 3HKO
If we had psychic…
4 SpA Hoopa-Unbound Focus Blast vs. 248 HP / 36 SpD Wo-Chien: 206-244 (55.2 - 65.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
Leech seed Wo-Chien is not used. Wo-Chien isn’t either…but leech seed isn’t even a set.
4 SpA Hoopa-Unbound Focus Blast vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Zarude: 286-338 (81.4 - 96.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
4 SpA Hoopa-Unbound Psychic Noise vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Conkeldurr: 368-434 (88.8 - 104.8%) -- 31.3% chance to OHKO
…Why though?

252+ Atk Choice Band Haxorus Close Combat vs. 4 HP / 76 Def Ursaluna: 420-496 (104.4 - 123.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ Atk Life Orb Scizor Close Combat vs. 4 HP / 76 Def Ursaluna: 333-393 (82.8 - 97.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after burn damage
252+ Atk Choice Band Huge Power Azumarill Aqua Jet vs. 4 HP / 76 Def Ursaluna: 212-252 (52.7 - 62.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after burn damage
252+ Atk Choice Band Arcanine-Hisui Close Combat vs. 4 HP / 76 Def Ursaluna: 350-414 (87 - 102.9%) -- 18.8% chance to OHKO
I am going to consider this, along with the similar Bando-T hammer arm roll acceptable and leave both pokemon off the threatlist.
+2 252+ Atk Tinkaton Gigaton Hammer vs. 4 HP / 76 Def Ursaluna: 354-417 (88 - 103.7%) -- 25% chance to OHKO
Counting this as a win for Ursaluna since Façade -> Headlong Rush obviously KOs.
252 SpA Life Orb Swarm Volcarona Bug Buzz vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Ursaluna: 355-419 (88.3 - 104.2%) -- 31.3% chance to OHKO
Subs a few times, we take some burn chip, and then Bug Buzz drops.
+2 24 SpA Diancie Moonblast vs. -1 4 HP / 0 SpD Ursaluna: 381-448 (94.7 - 111.4%) -- 68.8% chance to OHKO
252+ Atk Choice Band Garchomp Outrage vs. 4 HP / 76 Def Ursaluna: 288-339 (71.6 - 84.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after burn damage
252+ Atk Guts Ursaluna Facade (140 BP) vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Azumarill: 478-564 (118.3 - 139.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO

252+ Atk Guts Ursaluna Headlong Rush vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Scizor: 340-402 (98.8 - 116.8%) -- 93.8% chance to OHKO

252+ Atk Ursaluna Headlong Rush vs. 252 HP / 208+ Def Diancie: 254-300 (83.5 - 98.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
This is…an unfortunate calc. We can’t afford to proc guts because Diancie trick rooms turn one and can encore us in to protect. However:
252+ Atk Ursaluna Facade vs. 252 HP / 208+ Def Diancie: 37-44 (12.1 - 14.4%) -- possible 7HKO
252+ Atk Guts Ursaluna Facade (140 BP) vs. 252 HP / 208+ Def Diancie: 110-130 (36.1 - 42.7%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
The fact that Diancie is forced to take a turn encoring means this is a win for Ursaluna (s/o happysh)
Okay, with that in mind, I propose the following teammate:
:Weezing-Galar:
Weezing-Galar @ Choice Specs
Ability: Levitate
Tera Type: Poison
EVs: 100 HP / 128 Def / 252 SpA / 28 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Sludge Wave
- Strange Steam
- Overheat
- Fire Blast
252+ Atk Choice Band Protean Meowscarada Giga Impact vs. 100 HP / 128+ Def Weezing-Galar: 250-295 (84.4 - 99.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 Atk Choice Band Haxorus Iron Tail vs. 100 HP / 128+ Def Weezing-Galar: 250-296 (84.4 - 100%) -- 6.3% chance to OHKO
252+ Atk Choice Band Urshifu-Rapid-Strike Surging Strikes (3 hits) vs. 100 HP / 128+ Def Weezing-Galar on a critical hit: 216-255 (72.9 - 86.1%) -- approx. 2HKO
252+ Atk Choice Band Sword of Ruin Chien-Pao Giga Impact vs. 100 HP / 128+ Def Weezing-Galar: 237-279 (80 - 94.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ Atk Choice Band Hustle Lilligant-Hisui Giga Impact vs. 100 HP / 128+ Def Weezing-Galar: 243-286 (82 - 96.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
+2 252+ Atk Life Orb Torterra Stone Edge vs. 100 HP / 128+ Def Weezing-Galar: 191-226 (64.5 - 76.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ Atk Iron Hands Supercell Slam vs. 100 HP / 128+ Def Weezing-Galar: 133-157 (44.9 - 53%) -- 26.6% chance to 2HKO
252+ Atk Choice Band Baxcalibur Icicle Spear (3 hits) vs. 100 HP / 128+ Def Weezing-Galar: 153-183 (51.6 - 61.8%) -- approx. 2HKO

252 SpA Choice Specs Weezing-Galar Overheat vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Meowscarada: 214-252 (73 - 86%) -- guaranteed 2HKO (You overheat in case of triple axel since sludge wave doesn't OHKO. If they giga, you KO on the recharge turn.
252 SpA Choice Specs Weezing-Galar Strange Steam vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Haxorus: 444-524 (151.5 - 178.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 SpA Choice Specs Weezing-Galar Sludge Wave vs. 240 HP / 0 SpD Ogerpon-Hearthflame: 362-428 (100.2 - 118.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO
How convenient.
252 SpA Choice Specs Weezing-Galar Strange Steam vs. 252 HP / 252 SpD Assault Vest Urshifu: 472-564 (116.8 - 139.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 SpA Choice Specs Weezing-Galar Strange Steam vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Urshifu-Rapid-Strike: 498-588 (146 - 172.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 SpA Choice Specs Weezing-Galar Overheat vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Torterra: 362-428 (109.3 - 129.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 SpA Choice Specs Weezing-Galar Strange Steam vs. 16 HP / 0 SpD Iron Hands: 456-536 (100.6 - 118.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 SpA Choice Specs Weezing-Galar Strange Steam vs. 252 HP / 252 SpD Assault Vest Iron Hands: 222-264 (43.3 - 51.5%) -- 8.2% chance to 2HKO
If they're max/max AV, you win because you're faster and therefore will KO first with the third strange steam.
252 SpA Choice Specs Weezing-Galar Fire Blast vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Corviknight: 308-364 (77 - 91%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 SpA Choice Specs Weezing-Galar Strange Steam vs. 160 HP / 52 SpD Baxcalibur: 354-416 (86.1 - 101.2%) -- 6.3% chance to OHKO
Haxorus is still a very difficult matchup since adaband OHKOes Weezing-G. The team also struggles with pressure stall and maranga Corviknights. If you run into many of those, I would recommend putting smack down on Ursaluna over Avalanche. Weezing-G should beat Lando-T anyway unless they themselves have smack down. This team also doesn't really beat Volcarona and the matchup against bulky banded Baxcalibur comes down to icicle spear hits. Another significant short-coming of this trio is the forced set-guess on Iron Valiant since Weezing-G will lose to encore/disable variants but Hoopa-U and Ursaluna beat those. Finally, Gouging Fire with substitute 3-0s since it 2hkoes Weezing, beats Hoopa-U, and can subspam on Ursaluna to get burn chip and the -1 defense.
Overall, this core is really carried by Hoopa-U. Both Hoopa-U and Ursaluna are, of course, very good pokemon. However, Ursaluna isn't given the opportunity to shine here. I think a bulky set, maybe a bulky banded set, could be better in this context. It's less susceptible to being cheesed by Gouging Fire and would have better matchups against, notably, Haxorus and Volcarona, while not being rolled by things it really should be beating consistently like Bando-T (albeit, no one runs Hammer Arm Bando-T these days).
Nevertheless, it's a solid core and was decent to work with. The long and diverse threatlist it left is as much a symptom of the SV meta as it is of the core's failings.

Gonna post a set here right before closing out.

First instinct I had with this core is "damn I need a Fairy-type" and yea looking at the threatlist Armaldo provided, that still seems pretty accurate.

We've got Regidrago, Mewoscarada, Chien-Pao, Iron Hands, Urshifu - etc

Anwyays here's fezandipiti. I did this really quickly, so it's probably not optimal.

:fezandipiti:
Fezandipiti (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Toxic Chain
Tera Type: Poison
EVs: 244 HP / 68 Atk / 196 Def
Adamant Nature
- Gunk Shot
- Play Rough
- Double Kick
- Dual Wingbeat / Quick Attack

It's bulked to live Adamant Choice Band Chien-Pao and OHKO unbulked Chien-Pao back with Double Kick. It's good against the Ogerpons, Regidrago, Iron Hands, Urshifu etc. Still struggles with some of the other threats like Corvi, but still pretty decent imo.

The deadline was already supposed to have passed, but for personal reasons I'm going to extend it until 3.5 hours from this post. No reason to pass a deadline when I'm not around for the next step. Any last minute posts like lost heros' are still welcome.

The cycle has ended. Thank you to armaldlothearmaldo and lost heros for submitting pokemon. The finished team will be decided in the 1v1 room over the next 4 hours.

As of this post, kenn is officially co-hosting MMT. He'll help out handling MMT from now on.

The next MMT will start Sunday night next week, that's Sunday April 14th. In order to give a little bit more flexibility to MMT, kenn and I intend to change a few of the rules of MMT, stay tuned for that!
