[1v1] Blastoise [QC 3/3] [GP 0/1]

lmni 1v1

Banned deucer.

Overview
Though Mega Blastoise seems to have underwhelming stats but it is still able to beat many threats in the 1v1 metagame including Mega Gyarados, Donphan, Kyurem-Black and many more with the help of its great bulk allowing it to take a hit from almost any non super effective attack, its great typing which limits the amount of super effective hits it takes and a great ability in Mega Launcher accompanied by an excellent movepool which consists of good coverage as well as many of them being boosted by Mega Launcher such as Dark Pulse, Aura Sphere, and Dragon Pulse allowing it to secure KOs on bulkier foes. Fake Out allows it to get past Dragonite's Multiscale and Sturdy Pokemon such as Aggron, Donphan, and Golem. Hydro Cannon is Mega Blastoise's hardest-hitting STAB move which is powerful enough to grab KOes against most non-resistant foes. Though it comes with the recharge drawback but it matters much less in 1v1. However Blastoise's weakness to electric and grass gives it trouble against Tapu Koko and Mega Venusaur, both of which are very prevalent in the 1v1 metagame. Additionally, many other pokemon carry electric or grass coverage such as Mega Charizard Y, Metagross, and blastoise will most likely lose due to the opponents having these moves. It also loses to Choice Banded or bulky variants of Kyurem-Black carrying Fusion Bolt. Due to Blastoise's dissappointing speed tier it relies on its bulk to survive hits and KO the opponent, knowing this blastoise struggles to survive any boosted move without proper investment. Given all of these problems Blastoise has to face, it is still a notable special atracker capable of bringing teams together by patching up its weaknesses

Moves

Fake out is one of the most important moves as this allows blastoise to get damage of on Sturdy Pokemon and KO them with the appropriate move. Hydro cannon is the preferred stab move as this KOes most Sturdy Pokemon such as Aggron, Donphan, and Crustle after fake out damage and can also KO other pokemon that doesnt resist such as Mega Aggron, Mega Mawile, Mega Lopunny, and Mega Pinsir. Dark pulse is used as a move to hit Ghost- and Psychic-types most notably Gengar and Mega Slowbro. Dragon pulse is there so blastoise could beat Dragonite, Garchomp, and Kyurem-Black with ease, like dark pulse it is also able to act like a strong coverage move to be able to hit many things neutrally. Aura sphere can also be used to hit the likes of tyranitar and to get a strong hit on ferrothorn.

Set Details
Maximum special attack and modest nature make it so that blastoise could hit as hard as possible aswell as to ensure it KOes Dragonite and Choice Scarf Kyurem-Black. The 112 speed investment is to ensure that you outspeed all Sturdy Pokemon exept timid magnezone. 144hp EVs are in place because it enables blastoise to take some strong hits such as one scarf Kyurem-Black fusion bolt and ko with dragon pulse. Its ability Mega Launcher allows all of its pulse moves boosted allowing it to have reliable coverage options capable of grabbing KOs on Pokemon that take super effective damage.
Usage Tips
This set function as a great sturdy and multiscale answer thanks to the move fake out which is capable of braking Multiscale and Sturdy, while preventing any damage being done on the first turn. This may also function as a kyurem black check though not reccomended as kyurem black is capable of running a variety of sets such as choice band and weakness policy. It is also not recommended to send blastoise out if you see a powerful electric type such as tapu koko as you risk getting OHKOd by these pokemon. It is advised to mostly use Fake Out at the beginning of the battle even against Non-Sturdy Pokemon and Dragonite to get additional damage which in turn helps it in letting it KO other Pokemon with ease and by not being too reliant on damage rolls. However, avoid using Fake Out against Pokemon like Garchomp as the Rough Skin residual damage may prove to be a fatal mistake and will put it in range of one of Garchomp's attacks. Use hydro cannon with caution against faster Pokemon such as Mega Charizard X, Landorus-T, and Mega Pinsir as they may use substitute to block the move and proceed to KO it with one of their moves so predict accordingly and use Hydro Cannon at the appropriate turn. You may also consider not using Fake Out in certain matchups to bluff running counter which will make your opponent think twice about clicking their attacks.
Team Options
Allies such as donphan, golem and landorus will benefit blastoise grealtly because they threaten strong electric based attackers. Allies with speed control such as Mega Blaziken, Mega Pinsir, and Magnezone can patch up for Mega Blastoise's lackluster speed and are able to beat Mimikyu and Jumpluff which beats blastoise. Pokemon that beat Mega Charizard Y such as Tapu Koko, Tapu Fini and Nihiligo would also be a big help as Mega Charizard Y has the ability Drought which lowers the effectiveness of your strongest hitting move Hydro Cannon and Drought also gives MegaCharizard Y a one turn Solar Beam which easily 2HKOs or OHKOs Mega Blastoise. Pokemon like Charizard appreciate Mega Blastoise beating Mega Lopunny, Mega Pinsir, and Sturdy Pokemon
Other Options
Aqua Jet would be a good option especially if the atrack you went for didn't ko the opponent aqua jet can be used to pick off the severely damaged foe. Counter would be helpful against strong and bulky physical attackers such as bulkier variants of Kyurem-Black which does not get KOed by Dragon Pulse, but for Counter you will have to sacrifice Fake Out. Mirror coat could also be used to great effect against Pokemon like Mega Charizard Y which are bulky enough to take any of Blastoise's attacks. Icy wind with 92 speed EVs would also be an alternative option for sturdy users as icy wind lowers your opponents speed which then allows you to invest in more bulk allowing you to survive stronger hits. This would also make the Landorus-T match up completely on Mega Blastoise's side as it does not have to risk Hydro Cannons being blocked by Substitute. Furthermore and most importantly it also helps Mega Blastoise by serving as a speed control move against Pokemon like Mimikyu which could Curse and stall woth Protect and Substitute otherwise.
Checks and Counters

-Electric-types: Strong electric types such as tapu koko and magnezone, these pokemon generally outspeed Blastoise or ohko it with their powerful stab moves

-Bulky Water-types: such as Primarina, Tapu fini and swampert take blastoise's attacks pretty well and can easily beat blastoise thanks to their neutral stab moves

-Grass-types: Pokemon such as Venusaur and Kartana could easily soak up any of Mega Blastoise's hits and stall it out or OHKO with a powerful STAB move

-Specially Defensive pokemon: such as chansey and blissey are able to comfortably take any of blastoise's attacks and recover off the damage and stall out blastoise with seismic toss

-Strong wallbreakers: Specs porygon z, bulky kyurem black have enough power to power through blastoise's bulk and ohko with one of their attacks

Hey! Before you get the first 2 QC checks the analysis should be in bullet point form. Please change to that, keep the same sentences just make them bullet points. Also in Checks and Counters when mentioned Electric and Water types give examples of each.

-144hp evs in place because it enables blastoise to take some strong hits such as one scarf kyurem black fusion bolt and ko with dragon pulse it also allows blastoise to survive a +1 mega gyarados crunch/outrage and retaliate with dragon pulse.

Usage Tips
-This set function as a great sturdy and multiscale answer thanks to the move fake out which brakes sturdy and multiscale and sturdy while preventing any damage being done on the first turn.

-It is also not recommended to send blastoise out if you see a powerful electric type such as tapu koko as you risk getting OHKOd by these pokemon.

Team Options
-Blastoise generally has trouble with fast and stong electric types such as tapu koko and alolan raichu as these pokemon can outspeed and ohko blastoise with their powerful electric attacks.

-Allies such as charizard and landorus which threatens electric based attackers will benefit blastoise greatly.

-Allies with speed control such as mega blaziken, mega pinsir and magnezone are able to beat mimikyu and jumpluff which beats blastoise.

-Pokemon that beat charizard y such as tapu koko, tapu fini and nihiligo would also be a big help as charizard y has drought which lowers the effectiveness of your strongest hitting move hydro cannon and drought also gives charizard y a one turn solar beam which easily 2hkos or ohkos blastoise

Other Options
-Aqua jet would be a good option especially if the atrack you went for didn't ko the opponent aqua jet can be used to pick off the severely damaged foe.

-A countercoat set would also do blastoise well because its typing leaves it vunerable to only two types allowing it to use protect to scout for a move and survive the hit and use counter/mirrorcoat accordingly.

-Water pulse would be an alternative stab option with no recharge and perfect accuracy though this is highly not recommended as hydrocannon generally has more damage output.

Checks and Counters

Fast electric types: Such as tapu koko ans alolan raichu, these pokemon generally outspeed Blastoise and ohko it with their powerful stab moves

Bulky water types: such as Primarina, Tapu fini and swampert take blastoise's attacks pretty well and can easily beat blastoise thanks to their neutral stab moves

Mega Venusaur: Venusaur is easily able to soak up any hit blastoise goes for thanks to its typing and bulk and stall it out with leech seed and synthesis
As always, I underlined the pieces of text I refer to in my comments.

- Blastoise actually can beat Timid Magnezone so the notion that it can't should be removed
- Write SE as Super-Effective.
- Typo spped teir -> speed tier (I know this isn't grammar check but it's hard to read for future QCs)

Team Options
Please format Team Options as follows:

- [Pokémon name] is a good teammate for Blastoise because [reason]

Just put the first 2 points together and you'll be fine

Other Options
- Split Counter and Mirror Coat and explain individually what they are good for
- After doing this, add to the Counter section that you cannot have Counter and Fake Out on the same set
- Add Icy Wind for optional speed control

Checks and Counters
- Change formatting to bulletpoints like the rest of your analysis and remove the bold.
- Add Chansey/Blissey since they take on blastoise all day

Not giving QC 1/3 until implemented

- Dark pulse is used as a move to hit ghost types most notably aegislash and thanks to mega launcher it is able to get a strong hit on many things that resist hydro cannon. there aren't really many relevant mons that resist hydro cannon and can't take dark pulse (venu eats, altaria eats, dnite you have dragon pulse, gyara resists, etc.) so i would remove this bit
-Dragon pulse is there so blastoise could beat dragonite and kyurem black with ease, like dark pulse it is also able to act like a strong coverage move to be able to hit many things neutrally.
-Aura sphere can also be used to hit the likes of tyranitar and to get a strong hit on kartana and ferrothorn. remove kartana from this, 1) it kills u 2) hydro OHKOes

Team Options
-Allies such as charizard x and landorus will benefit blastoise grealtly because they threaten strong electric based attackers i wouldnt say zard x scares electric-types, considering zard is flying-type and might actually invite them in
-Allies with speed control such as mega blaziken, mega pinsir and magnezone are able to beat mimikyu and jumpluff which beats blastoise.
- mons like zard appreciate blastoise beating lop, pinsir, donphan

Other Options
-Aqua jet would be a good option especially if the atrack you went for didn't ko the opponent aqua jet can be used to pick off the severely damaged foe.
-Counter would be helpful against strong and bulky physical attackers such as bulkier variants of kyurem black which doesnt die to dragon pulse, by using counter you are sacrificing using fake out
-Mirror coat could also be used to great effect against pokemon like charizard y which are bulky enough to take any of blastoise's attacks
-Water pulse would be an alternative stab option with no recharge and perfect accuracy though this is highly not recommended as hydrocannon generally has more damage output. id remove water pulse. it's so weak and not worth over hydro cannon which has only 10% less accuracy. recharge usually isn't a problem anyway
-Icy wind would also be an alternative option for sturdy users as icy wind lowers your opponents speed which then allows you to invest in more bulk allowing you to survive stronger hits.
Checks and Counters

-Strong electric types such as tapu koko ans alolan raichu, these pokemon generally outspeed Blastoise and ohko it with their powerful stab moves raichu is pretty bad, replace it with like magnezone

-Specially Defensive pokemon such as chansey and blissey are able to comfortably take any of blastoise's attacks and recover off the damage and stall out blastoise with seismic toss

add strong wallbreakers like specs pz, zard y, bulky kyub, etc

put this in the correct format, should look something like this

Team Options

Other Options

-Aqua jet would be a good option especially if the atrack you went for didn't ko the opponent aqua jet can be used to pick off the severely damaged foe.

Icy Wind also makes the Landorus-T matchup completely on Mega Blastoise's side as Mega Blastoise doesn't have to risk Hydro Cannon being blocked by Substiute. Fake out is one of the most important moves as this allows blastoise to get damage of on Sturdy Pokemon and KO them with the appropriate move. Hydro cannon is the preferred stab move as this KOes any sturdy Pokemon Magnezone begs to differ. Change this to most Sturdy users and then list some examples ie Crustle, Donphan, and Golem. after fake out damage and can also KO other pokemon that doesnt resist such as Mega Aggron, Mega Mawile, Mega Lopunny, and Mega Pinsir.

Add a line about not revealing fake out to Turn 1 in certain match-ups to bluff carrying counter.

Very well done! My few comments are in bold above. Make sure to have all Pokemon names capitalized and all forms hyphenated (Kyurem-b and Landorus-T)
