Welcome to the 1v1 Banhappy Tournament!

Tournament Rules:
  • General tournament rules and regulations can be found here.
  • The banlist for this tournament is the same as the US/UM 1v1 ladder on the Smogon University server of Pokemon Showdown, and can be found here.
  • Best of five, single elimination.
  • If metagame changes occur during the middle of a round, they will take effect in the subsequent round.
  • Battles must take place on Pokemon Showdown!.
  • Do not make baseless activity posts; get in contact with your opponent and report missed times / scheduling issues only.
  • Replays are required.
Special Rules:
  • In your signup post, you must also include one single thing that you'd like banned for the tournament.
    • Note: Bans last for the entire duration of the tournament
    • Bans can only be a single entity: e.g. one item, one ability, one move, one pokemon, etc. NOT an entire category, like Fire types, Berries, Z-moves, etc.
  • With each round you win, you must also post another ban for the next round.
    • After taking into consideration the chaos of ban changes that occurred during signups, bans are now final as soon as I add them to the list, in the interest of not allowing people to change their bans at the last minute before deadline.
  • Not adhering to the banlist will result in that battle being counted as a loss, or a tie if both players ignore the banlist.
    • If a game in a series is ruled as a tie, then the players involved will be required to reschedule in order to replay the tied games, adhering to the banlist this time.

The deadline for Round 1 is July 5th at 8 PM EST/EDT Time (GMT - 4)
(The Round is longer than a week in the interest of allowing players time to teambuild, on account of the special rules in place.)

  • With each round you win, you must also post another ban for the next round.

For everyone who is struggling at making sure your team is legal, here's a copiable banlist that you can put into a groupchat tour to help validate your teams and make sure they are legal.

To do this, all you need to do is:
  1. type /makegroupchat [chat name] on Pokemon Showdown
  2. in the newly made groupchat, type /tour new, gen71v1, elimination to make a tournament
  3. copy and paste the tour rules command with all the bans copied
  4. voila, you should now be able to use the tournament validator to see if your teams are legal for the Banhappy Tournament

hi! I did an updated VR with all mons that were banned, or heavily nerfed by bans crossed out. I probably missed a lot, I was using the 1v1 Sets as a reference since I dont know all the mons and what they do by heart, lol

Note: Salient did the big confuse and changed his ban again after having already changed it, this time without posting that he changed it.
Choice Band is now re-banned, in place of Leftovers now being freed.
The ban change took place prior to 1PM, so I'll let it slide, but be sure to shame Salient as brutally as you'd like-

Since the rules of this tour are very particular, I need replays in order to verify that the banlist was followed.
E: you also didn't post a new ban for R2 like you were supposed to, smh

Predictions for round 1. I am not in the tour, so I am about as unbiased as it gets, Predictions are based off of tournament results if available and if none are available replays. There are notes on how I made my predictions. If I missed something or am just an idiot please feel free to correct me.

Ayedan is one of the best tour players I have met, however seeing as there is no way to scout opponents beforehand alive might be able to finesse a win, overall I still favor ayedan.

Aqh, but this is another match up that is hard to predict because of the lack of replays

I think Jamez155 is slightly favored but these are 2 excellent tourny players, and I would not be surprised to see a Freddy Kyogre come out on top in game 5, regardless this is a game to watch.
