First use Protect to see what Iron Bundle is going to do. If it uses U-turn, tera and then Shell Smash; after Shell Smash and Weakness Policy, you can probably outspeed and OHKO whatever it switches to, and you can definitely outspeed and OHKO Iron Bundle if it comes in again. If it uses anything but U-turn, tera and Mirror Coat; no matter which of its other attacks it clicks, you will survive and OHKO it.

Your sets will be added to the Hall of Fame shortly. For this week, we've got the evil brother of the Water Samurai, Hisuian Samurott!

:sv/samurott-hisui:

Samurott-Hisui @ Assault Vest
Ability: Sharpness
Tera Type: Poison
EVs: 172 HP / 252 Atk / 84 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Ceaseless Edge
- Razor Shell
- Aqua Jet
- Knock Off

Assault Vest Hisuian Samurott is a very good choice for teams looking to both get entry hazards up and deny dangerous attackers like Choice Specs Dragapult from easily breaking through. Ceaseless Edge sets up nigh-unblockable hazards, while Razor Shell deals major damage to Pokemon weak to it. Aqua Jet lets Hisuian Samurott revenge kill dangerous threats like heavily chipped AoA Zamazenta and Iron Boulder. Finally, Knock Off is a move that forces progress if either the opponent has reliable hazard removal or 3 layers of Spikes have been set up. Tera Poison lets H-Sam dodge Fighting-type attacks from the likes of Great Tusk and AoA Zamazenta. How will you fell this samurai?

Submissions end on Sunday, April 7th.
You may submit up to 1 check and 1 counter.

Meowscarada is a check to H-Samurott. It can take any hit from samurott, and respond back with a powerful flower trick to ko it. If it decides to tera poison, then meow can 2 hit ko it with protean boosted Triple axels. It does have to worry about two razor shells into an aqua jet, but meowscarada can check H-Samurott as long as it stays at full health.

Quaquaval is a counter to H-Samurott. With max hp investment, quaq can take any hit from h-samurott and roost off the damage. From there, it can either rapid spin to remove the pesky spikes H-Samurott has set up, get a speed boost from aqua step to outspeed samurott, or ko it outright with cc. Even if hamurott decides to tera poison, it's still 2hit ko'd by aqua step. Hamurott can't really make any progress against quaq, and is an easy spin opportunity or set up opportunity for quaq.

Banned to UUBL cause it's too strong for UU. 2.686% Usage in OU cause it's too bad for OU. Garchomp must be rather sad.

It can still beat Hamurott though. Garchomp is faster then this version of Hamurott. There are two ways to win this 1v1:
Earthquake and Earthquake.
Swords Dance and Earthquake (or Scale Shot if Hamurott did not use Knock Off)

Tera Type: Water
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Ivy Cudgel
- Power Whip / Horn Leech
- Encore / Play Rough / Knock Off

Ogerpon-Wellspring is a check. Its ability allows it to switch in on Samurott's Water moves basically for free, Wellspring Mask prevents Knock Off from being boosted, and since Samurott lacks Swords Dance, it can always tank at least one Ceaseless Edge from full. Once Ogerpon switches in, it can swiftly obliterate Samurott with its Grass STAB of choice. Tera Poison does prevent that, but afterwards Samurott risks a 2HKO from Ivy Cudgel, especially if Ogerpon manages to boost up with Swords Dance. If Ogerpon switches in on a Water move, an opportunity to do so can easily be gained with Encore.

Heatranator already did Quaquaval and your set isn't different enough so you should submit a different counter :)

Heatranator I'm unfortunately not going to be accepting this as a check, since the Tera Poison rolls don't work in your favor:

252 Atk Meowscarada Flower Trick vs. 172 HP / 0 Def Tera Poison Samurott-Hisui on a critical hit: 92-108 (25.2 - 29.6%) -- guaranteed 4HKO
(keep in mind that this removes Protean!)
252 Atk Meowscarada Triple Axel (120 BP) (3 hits) vs. 172 HP / 0 Def Tera Poison Samurott-Hisui: 142-169 (39 - 46.4%) -- approx. 3HKO

In return,
252+ Atk Sharpness Tera Poison Samurott-Hisui Ceaseless Edge vs. 0 HP / 0 Def (Grass-type) Meowscarada: 205-243 (69.9 - 82.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ Atk Tera Poison Samurott-Hisui Aqua Jet vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Meowscarada: 42-51 (14.3 - 17.4%) -- possible 6HKO

You end up losing to two Ceaseless Edges unless you predict extremely well and hit it with a Triple Axel as it Teras into a Poison-type, but even then:
252 Atk Protean Meowscarada Triple Axel (120 BP) (3 hits) vs. 172 HP / 0 Def Tera Poison Samurott-Hisui: 212-253 (58.2 - 69.5%) -- approx. 2HKO

And while Ceaseless can most certainly low-roll, Triple Axel also has a pesky miss chance that dooms you if you only hit once or twice on any Triple Axel. With the necessary prediction as well as the inconsistency of Triple Axel playing a big part in this, I am again going to have to reject this as a check.
chuggachuggachooo This is technically a counter according to the Smog's definition:

Pokémon A checks Pokémon B if, when Pokémon A is given a free switch into Pokémon B, Pokémon A can win every time, even under the worst case scenario, without factoring in hax.

Pokémon A counters Pokémon B if Pokémon A can manually switch into Pokémon B and still win every time, even under the worst case scenario, without factoring in hax.

And in this scenario, Kommo-o can manually switch into Hisuian Samurott and still win every time, even under the worst case scenario (without hax), as you proved with your calcs. I'll allow it as a check since denying it now would be rather cruel and I didn't give you proper early notice (sorry on my end), but just something to keep in mind.
