  • They're not mine, I just Google Image searched for some pictures. :)

I don't actually own any of the third gen games, so I was just going based on guesswork, sorry if I confused people...
I loved the article about zero-tolerance! I don't know if you read my edit, but that policy is basically fucking me in every possible way, and then it's making sure that I can't do anything better with my time except do drugs. On the bright-side however, I passed the cocaine part of my second drug-test about four hours ago :)
"With a bit of care, you don't want to break it, or yourself if it's a large one. Just like any other fossil ;-)"

    Wow, that was amazing.
There would be some great opportunities if they did, but a blank box and/or party slot in the 3rd generation really is pretty much blanked out. I never looked at it in 4th gen, but it would be pretty easy to see what happens when you export an empty slot with pokesav.
"Are we sure the uncopied bits are actually set?"

Yes, we are. Well, at least I am.
Sorry for replying super late, but:

"Normally, when you catch a Pokemon, data for its IVs is copied from the "wild" data slot to the "box/party" data slot.

However, on a roaming Pokemon, the copying messes up, copying only the last eight bits instead of all 30 of them. The uncopied bits are all set to zero.

The last sentence is my query. Are we sure the uncopied bits are actually set? What if they're instead left as what was previously in the memory location? And what happens when you deposit or release a Pokemon - is the relevant data all zeroed out, or is only some of it changed? The point is, might it be possible to have the legendary appear with IVs of what previously occupied its party or box slot, instead of the usual zeroes?"

I don't think your proposal would work, since the legendary is always sent to an empty slot. To create an empty slot in the box/party, one would have to deposit/withdraw/move anything in the slot, thus setting the values in that slot to zero.
    614 Atk vs 548 Def & 354 HP (960 Base Power): 288 - 339 (81.36% - 95.76%)

That's how much damage the fifth Rollout does to max/max+ Steelix with Defense Curl, no Metronome boost, and no Huge Power. The next fifth Rolout has a chance to OHKO Steelix (since Metronome gives it a x1.1 boost). Reflect would cut this down to 2/3, but you'd still have the problem of making sure it's down when you use the last Rollout (unless you get a critical hit which is the goal after all) and it would still kill you outright with the higher boosts. Therefore, I think using Endure+Rest should be able to keep you alive through most of it and you'd probably only end up with one or two dead Steelixes at most.
I didn't realize it was fifty Rollouts. If Rollout uses one PP at the begining you should be alright but if it uses one on each attack, the only way you could possibly keep it up is Fling+Recycle. Also, like I said before, you should Skill Swap Huge Power not Pure Power to keep the same effect (I think).
Oh, okay, makes sense to me now. I thought Icy Rock was the ice boosting hold item so I was like...what? It's funny because it's not as useful as Life Orb? -__- hahaha
A Natsci hey, we may have met but i doubt it as like i said i was ARU and not CU but like you say maybe on/by the river. I still play ice hockey for cambridge uni (second team) got the varsity tomorrow whcih should be intresting to say the least.
I used to be a student but i'm now a resident. I saw your user name on the thread. Are you a (ex)student or a resident yourself ?
would you like to sub into the tournament? you would have to take a bye for the first round, but you'd get four games after that...
