[SET COMMENTS]
Toedscruel's main appeal over other Spikers is its ability Mycellium Might, which allows it to use Spore against Gholdengo, Garganacl, and Hatterene, as well as preventing Magic Bounce from blocking its Spikes. Leaf Storm OHKOes foes like Great Tusk, Greninja, and Rotom-W while hitting Ting-Lu for a good amount as well. Rapid Spin is useful because Toedscruel is faster than every Stealth Rock setter in the tier besides Garchomp and Iron Treads, letting it switch in late-game to clear entry hazards if needed. Earth Power is an alternative over both moves, as it hits Clodsire, Torkoal, Kingambit, Iron Moth, and Glimmora while also chipping Dragapult. The combination of Earth Power and Rapid Spin allows Toedscruel to be a great lead into Glimmora, as it can use Earth Power to take Glimmora down to its Focus Sash, then Rapid Spin to remove the entry hazards that were set. Both of its STAB moves hit Garganacl quite hard, another common Stealth Rock setter, which hyper offense teams appreciate being scared out. Another great application of this combination is against spin blockers such as Ceruledge, Skeledirge and Gholdengo, which are all threatened to Tera or switch out by Earth Power, letting Toedscruel Rapid Spin. Tera Ghost allows Toedscruel to block Rapid Spin against Iron Treads and Great Tusk in a pinch.
Lead Toedscruel is only seen on hyper offense teams, as it guarantees a critical layer of Spikes or a slept foe, regardless of abilities such as Good as Gold, Purifying Salt, and Magic Bounce, assisting in the late-game; the former is helpful for damage rolls and breaking Focus Sash, while the latter gives setup sweepers free turns. With that in mind, great partners include setup sweepers like Roaring Moon, Iron Moth, Iron Valiant, and Kingambit, the latter of which also appreciates Toedscruel fainting early-game, giving it a Supreme Overlord boost. Some threats to this set include Meowscarada, which is incredibly annoying because Taunt shuts down Toedscruel's entry hazards and Spore, and it cannot punish this, as it resists both Leaf Storm and Earth Power. Kingambit is a great choice for dealing with Meowscarada, as it resists Leaf Storm and Knock off and can threaten it with a powerful Low Kick or Iron Head without fear of Taunt. Hydreigon is also quite troublesome; its resistance to Leaf Storm and immunity to Earth Power allows it to set up a Substitute without fear of being put to sleep due to Mycelium Might causing Spore to move second. Dragapult serves as a great teammate, as it can threaten Hydreigon behind Substitute. Choice Band Dragapult is bothersome, as it OHKOes Toedscruel with Dragon Darts, but it is easily taken advantage of by Fairy-types like Azumarill and Iron Valiant if it OHKOes Toedscruel. Gholdengo is also a fantastic teammate, as it blocks attempts to clear Toedscruels's entry hazards and takes advantage of Spore by setting up with Nasty Plot.
