Moves
========
Kommo-o is an effective Stealth Rock setter, as its defensive niche allows it to force some switches and it can pressure a lot of entry hazard removers such as Tornadus-T and Excadrill with Toxic or Drain Punch. Toxic alongside Protect is fantastic for racking up chip damage on the likes of Landorus-T, Mega Alakazam, and Tornadus-T that would otherwise get a free switch in on Kommo-o. Protect is multifaceted; aside from the above application, it also gives Kommo-o an extra turn of Leftovers recovery and allows it to block Z-Moves and scout Choice-locked Pokemon. Drain Punch provides Kommo-o with some extra recovery and pressures Pokemon like Ash-Greninja and Heatran.
Set Details
========
140 Speed EVs are ran in order to outspeed the likes of Timid Magnezone and Adamant Tyranitar. Bulletproof is Kommo-o's most useful ability, immunizing it against a number of moves, with the most notable examples being Gyro Ball from Ferrothorn, Sludge Bomb from Tangrowth, Mega Venusaur, and Amoonguss, and Shadow Ball from Blacephalon.
Usage Tips
========
Use this Kommo-o set to switch into Pokemon like Ash-Greninja, Heatran, Rotom-W, and Magnezone, and use the free turn to set up Stealth Rock. Due to Kommo-o's lack of reliable recovery, it can be worn down throughout the game. Try to avoid scenarios that will exacerbate this issue, such as Kommo-o's Leftovers being removed by Knock Off and switching it into entry hazards, especially Spikes and Toxic Spikes, repeatedly. If the opponent has a Pokemon that totally shuts down Kommo-o, such as Gliscor or Tapu Fini, try not to let them in freely; you can double switch into a Pokemon that can take advantage of them. However, this isn't always needed—by getting up Stealth Rock, Tapu Fini and Defog Gliscor will often be forced to remove them, giving you a free switch into a Pokemon that can take advantage of them.
Team Options
========
Specially defensive Kommo-o fits best on bulky offense, as compressing a Stealth Rock setter, a Heatran check, and an Ash-Greninja check in into one teamslot is very beneficial for the archetype. Steel-types like Magearna, Celesteela, and Mega Scizor are good teammates, as they can check Psychic-types like Mega Alakazam, Mega Latias, and Tapu Lele and Fairy-types like Magearna and Clefable for Kommo-o. In return, Kommo-o can consistently switch into Heatran, arguably the biggest threat to Steel-types in the tier. Tyranitar also works well as an answer to both Flying-types like Tornadus-T and the aforementioned Psychic-types. Additionally, it has the extra benefit of being able to Pursuit trap and potentially remove these Pokemon. Rotom-W and Tangrowth are great teammates for Kommo-o, as they can take advantage of counters to it, particularly Gliscor and Tapu Fini.
