Magma Storm is a strong STAB move that traps and wears down switch-ins like Landorus-T and Tapu Fini, which help teammates like Ash-Greninja and Kartana break past them in the long term; it also allows Heatran to trap and eliminate Pokemon such as Toxapex and Chansey, denying them to safely pivot in. Earth Power is crucial for hitting opposing Heatran and Toxapex, all while pressuring Victini, Volcarona, and Mega Diancie. Toxic lets Heatran wear down checks such as Gastrodon, Mega Latios, and Kommo-o, allowing Heatran to beat them over the long term. Firium Z from Magma Storm provides Heatran with a 100% accurate nuke that lets it eviscerate even neutral targets such as Gliscor and Mega Sableye, as well as score the OHKO on specially defensive Magearna. Using Firium Z also lets it use an extra utility move such as Toxic, Taunt, or Stealth Rock. Solar Beam in conjunction with Grassium Z, however, allows Heatran to immediately eliminate Gastrodon, Rotom-W, and Tapu Fini, common would-be stopgaps to it. Furthermore, if boosted by Grassy Terrain, Heatran's Bloom Doom is capable of OHKOing the likes of Garchomp, Gliscor, and Mega Tyranitar. Flash Cannon combined with Steelium Z allows Heatran to chunk Tapu Fini and Kommo-o, as well as soft check Calm Mind Clefable. Corkscrew Crash also allows Heatran to net consistent KOs on Garchomp and Mega Tyranitar, which it would normally require Grassy Terrain to do with Grassium Z, while also allowing it to break through Mega Latios, which the other Z-Moves are unable to do. However, as Heatran is often forced out by these Pokemon, the Heatran user needs to make aggressive plays such as using the Z-Move on the switch-in. Heatran is a great Stealth Rock user, as it can beat the best Defoggers in the tier in Tornadus-T, Mega Latias, and Kartana, as well as Rotom-W and Tapu Fini depending on the Z-Move it is using. Heatran also finds multiple opportunties to set entry hazards due to the numerous switches it forces. Taunt prevents Heatran from being setup fodder for the likes of Calm Mind Clefable, Substitute Serperior, and Substitute Volcarona and prevent the use of recovery moves from Chansey, Toxapex, and Clefable.

Set Details
========

A Timid Nature can be used to outspeed Pokemon that EV to creep Modest Heatran, although it cuts into Heatran's offensive prowess, namely missing out on the OHKO on Gliscor with Inferno Overdrive and on Garchomp with Corkscrew Crash.

Team Options
========

Heatran works best on teams that appreciate its ability to check potent threats like Volcarona, Magearna, and Mega Scizor, as well as force obscene progress due to its ability to trap and remove key Pokemon and nuke others with its Z-Move. Tapu Bulu and Heatran possess amazing defensive synergy, with Tapu Bulu checking Ground- and Water-types like Gastrodon and Ash-Greninja and Heatran dealing with opposing Fire-, Flying-, and Ice-types like Tornadus-T and Volcarona in return. Furthermore, Tapu Bulu also provides Grassy Terrain, which boosts Heatran's Bloom Doom, provides a source of recovery to boost its longevity, and weakens Earthquake. The latter allows Heatran to remove the factor of prediction versus the likes of Landorus-T, Gliscor, and Garchomp, as it can now survive Earthquake from them. Due to Heatran's low Speed stat, faster teammates like Mega Lopunny and Mega Alakazam work well with it. Furthermore, strong pivoting support from the likes of Landorus-T, Tapu Koko, and Tornadus-T is useful, as it allows Heatran to preserve its HP to break further on in the game. Other Steel-types like Ferrothorn, Magearna, and Mega Scizor are also solid teammates, as Z-Move Heatran is unable to solely check threats like Tapu Lele and Shift Gear Magearna. Ground-resistant and -immune Pokemon like Landorus-T, Tornadus-T, and Zapdos are mandated alongside Heatran to make up for its terrible 4x Ground-type weakness. Lastly, Fire-types like Mega Charizard Y and Victini further exacerbate Heatran's wallbreaking capabilities, with Mega Charizard Y's sun boosting the power of Heatran's Fire-type STAB, forming a potent Fire-type spam offensive core.

OVERVIEW]

Z-Move Heatran is a potent breaker on teams, trading defensive utility and longevity for near unmatchable breaking power by utilising a new tool in Z-Moves. Heatran has a wide array of options to choose from, with Firium-Z, Grassium-Z, and Steelium-Z all allowing Heatran to overcome would be checks. This degree of unpredictability make Z-Move Heatran a tier-defining breaker, eequiring teams to have multiple forms of counterplay to it. Heatran's access to multiple utility moves in Toxic and Taunt means most of its checks can easily get worn down over the long term, However, Heatran faces conpetition from other breakers due to its low Speed stat, meaning it is much easier to be revenge killed compared to Kartana, Ash Greninja, and Mega Diancie. Furthermore, Heatran is extremely reliant on its Z-Move to break past its checks, which makes it easily checked if the Z-Move gets baited. Lastly, Heatran's lack of recovery often means it is a poor defensive check to the likes of Mega Scizor, Tapu Lele, and Magearna.

Magma Storm is a strong STAB move, with the unique property of trapping and wearing down switch-ins. Does this wearing down have any practical long term effects? This allows Heatran to trap and eliminate Pokemon such as Toxapex and Chansey, denying them to safely pivot in. Earth Power is crucial for Heatran to not be walled by opposing Heatran, as well as consistently eliminate Toxapex, while pressuring Victini, Volcarona, and Mega Diancie. Toxic lets Heatran wear down checks such as Gastrodon, Mega Latios, and Kommo-o, allowing Heatran to beat them over the long term. Solar Beam in conjunction with Grassium Z, however, allows Heatran to immediately eliminate Gastrodon, Rotom-W, and Tapu Fini, common would-be stopgaps to Heatran. Furthermore, if boosted by Grassy Terrain, Heatran's Bloom Doom is capable of OHKOing the likes of Garchomp, Gliscor, and Mega Tyranitar. Flash Cannon alongside Steelium-Z lets Heatran net consistent KOes on Garchomp, Mega Tyranitar, and Gliscor; which would normally it require Grassy Terrain to KO. Make it very clear this only works on the switch-in, though. Numerous of these Pokemon outspeed and kill it so you pretty much have to make some aggressive plays to net the KOs It can also also chunk Tapu Fini and Kommo-o, as well as also soft check Calm Mind Clefable and KO Mega Alakazam. In general this is a really wordy pair of sentences especially with the Z-move being in the equation. I think organizing it by Flash Cannon as an offensive move by itself and then Flash Cannon as a Z-move is important, then talking about major targets. Heatran is a great Stealth Rocker, as it can beat the best Defoggers in the tier in Zapdos and Tornadus-T. Talking about the switches it forces to find pretty solid Stealth Rock setting opportunities is really important too. Taunt allows it to prevent it from being setup fodder from the likes of Calm Mind Clefable and Mega Alakazam, as well as prevent recovery from Chansey, Toxapex, and Clefable.

Why is there no discussion of Firium-Z in here?

Maximum Special Attack and Speed allow Heatran to maximise its offensive capabilites. A Timid Nature can be used to let Heatran outspeed Pokemon which EV to creep Modest Heatran, although it cuts into Heatran's offensive prowess. In what examples does this show to be a problem?

Team Options
========

Heatran works best on teams that appreciate its ability to check potent threats like Volcarona, Magearna, and Mega Scizor, as well as break holes in teams. Break holes feels a bit too general considering that Heatran can abuse its powerful Magma Storm and force obscene progress by trapping and eliminating key Pokemon; that's likely worth emphasizing moreso, though it being able to chunk other Magma Storm switch-ins is obviously still a very nice and major caveat. Tapu Bulu is a fantastic partner with Heatran, as they possess amazing defensive synergy, with Tapu Bulu checking Ground- and Water-types, while Heatran deals with opposing Fire-, Flying-, and Ice-types that threaten Tapu Bulu in return. Any major examples of Pokemon they check for one another? Furthermore, it also provides Grassy Terrain which boosts Heatran's Z-Solar Beam, provides an source of additional recovery to boost its longevity, as well as weakens opposing Earthquakes. Does weakening Earthquake let it secure any extra KOs/pressure anything else in particular? I think the fact that it lets Heatran not have to predict against Gliscor/Lando/Chomp's switch-in is really big esp when you may just otherwise want to throw off a Magma Storm/keep your Z-Move obscure Due to Heatran's low Speed stat, faster teammates like Mega Lopunny, Mega Alakazam, and Shift Gear Magearna work well with it. Other Steel-types like Magearna, Mega Scizor, and Skarmory are also solid teammates as Z-Move Heatran is unable to solely check threats like Tapu Lele and Shift Gear Magearna. Ground-type immunities and resists like Zapdos, Tangrowth, Landorus-T, and Tornadus-T are mandated alongside Heatran to make up for its terrible 4x Ground-type Weakness. Lastly, Fire-types like Mega Charizard Y and Victini further exacerbate Heatran's wallbreaking capabilities, with Mega Charizard Y's Sun boosting the power of Heatran's Fire-type STAB, forming a potent Fire Spam offensive core. Really think there should be mentions of pivoting support in here, considering how important Heatran's health can be when wanting to secure traps against things like Fini, Kommo, and Ground-types under terrain

Other Options
=============

A Choiced set can be used in dedicated Sun teams alongside Eruption provides immense power, being near impossible to switch into defensively. However, it is extremely reliant on its HP for power, and Choice Specs sets are easily revenge killed due to its low Speed, and Choice Scarf sets are very easily pivoted around. Protect allows Heatran to sneak out an extra turn of recovery on Grassy Terrain, and also allow it to give Mega Lopunny, Hawlucha, and Mega Medicham a second thought before clicking High Jump Kick, lest they want to risk losing half their HP. Will-O-Wisp lets it avoid the 50/50 with Mega Mawile and Bisharp's Sucker Punch, as well as punish Garchomp, Mega Sableye, and Mega Tyranitar.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Water-types**: Bulky Water-types such as Gastrodon, Rotom-W, Manaphy, and Tapu Fini can consistently pivot into it over the long term, with the latter two being immune to Toxic. However, Rotom-W and Tapu Fini dont have consistent recovery, and all 4 of them are unable to switch into a Bloom Doom. The likes of Ash Greninja and Crawdaunt struggle to switch into Heatran, but can force it out.

**Dragon-types**: Due to resisting Magma Storm, the likes of Kommo-o, Mega Latios, and Dragonite can pivot into Heatran and force it out with a coverage move. However, they all greatly dislike being crippled by Toxic or a Corckscrew Crash and the latter two require a coverage move to force Heatran out consistently.

**Ground-types and Ground-type coverage**: Gliscor, Garchomp, and Mega Swampert can pivot into Heatran multiple times and force it out with their STAB moves, and Gliscor's recovery allows it to recover off the damage dealt. However, all 3 are unable to switch into a Grassy Terrain-boosted Bloom Doom, and the former two hate a Corkscrew Crash and Inferno Overdrive. Landorus-T and Excadrill can force Heatran out but are unable to switch into it. Ground-type coverage from Pokemon like Volcarona, Mega Diancie, Mega Latios, and Kyurem-B mean they can all consistently pressure Heatran out.

**Fighting-types and Fighting-type coverage**: Pokemon such as Mega Lopunny, Hawlucha, and Mega Medicham can pressure Heatran out with their STAB options, although due to their frailty they are unable to switch in, and they also must be wary of a protect. Pokemon that Heatran would usually check can also carry Fighting-type coverage such as Tapu Lele, Magearna, and Tornadus-T which can lure and chunk Heatran.

**Chip Damage**: Due to Heatran's lack of recovery, it is easily worn down by constant hazard pressure as well as chip damage from the Pokemon it aims to check, which means can often be killed before it can break properly.

Currently this reads as if flash cannon can be used without z steel — I would reword it to something along the lines of:
Flash Cannon combined with Steelium Z allows Heatran to chunk Tapu Fini and Kommo-o, as well as soft check Calm Mind Clefable. Corkscrew Crash also allows Heatran to net consistent KOes on Garchomp and Mega Tyranitar and Gliscor, which would normally it require Grassy Terrain to KO
+ mention how it's the only z move that can remove Mega Latios

However, as Heatran is often forced out by these Pokemon, the Heatran user needs to make aggressive plays such as using the Z-Move on the switch-in. Heatran is a great Stealth Rocker, as it can beat the best Defoggers in the tier in Zapdos and Tornadus-T, Mega Latias, Kartana, then if you want, you can mention rotom/fini/gliscor depending on the set as well as having multiple opportunties to set rocks due to the numerous switches it forces. Taunt allows it to prevent it from being setup fodder from the likes of Calm Mind Clefable and Mega Alakazam (I'm iffy on this; this is a desperate attempt since z tran is ohkod by zam. It might be better to mention sub serp or sub lefties volcarona), as well as prevent recovery from Chansey, Toxapex, and Clefable.
