NU Xatu

:ss/xatu:
Xatu @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Magic Bounce
EVs: 252 HP / 240 Def / 16 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Psychic
- Heat Wave
- Roost
- Teleport

This totem bird foresees victory in NU! The combination of Magic Bounce and Teleport makes Xatu a fantastic defensive pivot that can come in on offensive and defensive threats alike. Magic Bounce allows Xatu to come in on both status spreaders such as Vaporeon and Talonflame and hazard setters such as Mudsdale, turning a would-be blessing for the opposing team into a burden. Heat Wave is Xatu's main method of damaging Steel-types, such as Copperajah and Escavalier, that completely wall it otherwise. Rocky Helmet provides Xatu with another way to punish physical Stealth Rock setters, particularly Copperajah, as well as punishing and chipping pivots like Passimian and Silvally-Ground when they use U-turn against it. Slow wallbreakers and setup sweepers such as Sirfetch'd, Tyrantrum, and Blastoise greatly appreciate Xatu's presence, as it keeps hazards off the field and provides a slow Teleport to bring them onto the field safely. Xatu struggles with Dark-types such as Guzzlord and Drapion, so Pokemon that can deal with them, such as Toxicroak and Silvally-Ground, make for great partners.

This totem bird forsees victory in UU! The combination of Magic Bounce and Teleport makes Xatu a fantastic defensive pivot that can come in on offensive and defensive threats alike. Magic Bounce allows Xatu to come in on both status spreaders such as Vaporeon and Talonflame and hazard setters such as Mudsdale, turning what should have been a blessing for the opposing team into a burden. Heat Wave is Xatu's main method of damaging Steel-types, such as Doublade Copperajah and Escavalier, that completely wall it otherwise. Roost allows Xatu to stay healthy, which is important as it otherwise lacks recovery. (if you're gonna talk about Roost at all, mention how Xatu's bulk isn't very good at all and thus it takes a lot of damage from even weak moves; Roost is super helpful/necessary to keep it from getting KOed quite quickly by otherwise passive foes) Rocky Helmet is used as the item to provide another way to Xatu to punish physical Stealth Rock setters, particularly Copperajah. (also mention it helps chip pivots like Silvally-Ground and Passimian when they use U-turn) Xatu works best on offensive and balance teams that can make full use of Xatu's anti-utility capabilities. (character count + Xatu can fit on any archetype tbqh) Slow wallbreakers and setup sweepers such as Sirfetch'd, Tyrantrum, and Blastoise greatly appreciate Xatu's presence, as it keeps hazards off their side of the field and provides a slow Teleport to bring them onto the field safely. Xatu struggles to deal with Dark-types such as Guzzlord and Drapion, so Pokemon that can deal with them, such as Salazzle and Toxicroak and Silvally-Ground, make for great partners.

1/1 when done
