[OVERVIEW]
Whimsicott fulfills a useful niche as a pivot thanks to its high speed tier, good typing, and an extensive support movepool that is complemented by Prankster. This lets it serve as a Pokemon that can check offensive threats such as Krookodile and Mega Swampert, while being able to pivot to other Pokemon and disrupt the opponent's momentum with moves such as Taunt, Encore, and Leech Seed. However, Whimsicott does happen to hold flaws, mainly in its inability to reliably deal with Flying- and Steel-types such as Crobat, Mega Aerodactyl, Mega Aggron, Klefki, and Escavalier. It also isn't particularly strong, and can't pressure Pokemon that it doesn't hit for super effective damage by its STAB attacks. Finally, its middling bulk makes it so that it has a hard time repeatedly switching into the Pokemon that it wants to check.

U-turn is used so that Whimsicott can pivot out of Pokemon that would threaten it, maintaining momentum and letting Pokemon in that can pressure the opponent. Giga Drain is useful in that it lets Whimsicott deal with Water-types such as Mega Swampert and Suicune. Taunt is an alternative that prevents Defog from Pokemon such as Gligar and Empoleon, as well as stopping Sylveon and Blissey from recovering on Whimsicott. Encore is mainly used to punish sweepers such as Cresselia and Gyarados from attaining boosts, and is similar to Taunt in that it can also disrupt recovery moves. Leech Seed lets Whimsicott recover health from common switch-ins such as Mega Aggron and Blissey, punishing their entry in the process in conjunction with U-turn.
