Vileplume @ Black Sludge
Ability: Effect Spore
EVs: 252 HP / 160 Def / 96 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Sludge Bomb
- Infestation
- Strength Sap
- Leech Seed

The Rafflesia makes quite a stink down in NU! With Effect Spore, Vileplume can punish many pivots in the tier, such as Talonflame, Silvally-Ground, and Vaporeon. With Infestation, it can trap supposed checks such as Escavalier, Guzzlord, and Stakataka. Its trapping pairs beautifully with Strength Sap and Leech Seed, which keep its "checks" and other physical threats weak while Vileplume stays healthy. 96 Speed EVs enable Vileplume to outspeed maximum Speed Copperajah and uninvested Sylveon. Because Vileplume struggles to deal with Flying- and Psychic types, Stakataka is a great partner, dealing with Talonflame and Indeedee-F, while Vileplume deals with Fighting- and Ground-types such as Passimian and Mudsdale.

With Infestiation Infestation, it can trap Pokemon such as Mudsdale, Snorlax before using curse, and Quagsire. otherwise suitable checks such as Escavalier, Guzzlord, and Stakataka. Pokemon like Mudsdale and Quagsire should not be staying in on a Vileplume; Infestation is meant to bait Steel-types and other special walls. Sludge Bomb hits Slyveon Sylveon and Rotom-C for super-effective damage. Strength Sap allows Vileplume to deal with Physical threats such as Stakataka and Copperajah. Leech Seed enables additional recovery against Pokemon unable to break through Vileplume and pairs beautifully with Infestation trapping. 96 speed Evs enable Vileplume to outspeed Assault Vest max Speed Copperajah and outspeeds uninvested Slyveon Sylveon. Because Vileplume struggles to deal with Flying- and Psychic-types, Assault Vest Copperajah Stakataka Copperajah loses to Xatu most of the time and Stakataka beats Indeedee more reliably. is a great partner, dealing with a respective Talonflame and Indeedee-F and Xatu while Vileplume deals with Fighting- and Ground-types such as Passimian and Mudsdale, respectively.

i tentatively removed sludge bomb sentence bc i dont think it requires justifying (it's your only stab attack) and interrupts the coolest part (infestation trapping). if it should stay, though, add "Sludge Bomb hits Sylveon and Rotom-C super effectively." after the second sentence "...and Vaporeon."
