Project UU Victim of the Week (Round Twenty Four: Rhyperior)

The Winners Are:
Estarossa

Galactiknight and Estarossa

Galactiknight won by a landslide with Kyurem while Estarossa stops Nidoking with the old fashioned Blissey. I’ll own up right here that I’ve been lazy with the project, so it’s refreshing to return alongside faded love being my cohost.

Checks:
Kyurem=7
Gastrodon=2
Mega Aerodactyl=0
Cobalion=0
Latias=0
Starmie=0

Counters:
Blissey=5
Bronzong=4
Articuno=0

Round 22’s Victim is:
Choice Band Terrakion

Terrakion @ Choice Band
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stone Edge
- Close Combat
- Earthquake
- Quick Attack / Toxic

Terrakion has shown itself to be one UnderUsed’s most volatile offensive threats since the departure of Gliscor. Its Choice Band set is nothing but a monument of just how devastating Terrakion can be to teams thanks to its fantastic offensive typing and speed. Voting will begin Tuesday. Good luck everyone!

Gligar @ Eviolite
Ability: Immunity
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Earthquake
- Roost
- Toxic
- Stealth Rock

Gligar is a counter to Choice Band Terrak. Its defenses avoid Gligar from being in the 2HKO range and can roost it out with more PP while hitting Terrak back hard with Eq. Gligar can even come in after rocks, and still be able to 1v1 Terrak. If Gligar wants to, it can aggressively setup rocks as well.

252 Atk Choice Band Terrakion Stone Edge vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Eviolite Gligar: 114-135 (34.1 - 40.4%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
252 Atk Choice Band Terrakion Stone Edge vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Eviolite Gligar: 114-135 (34.1 - 40.4%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Stealth Rock
0 Atk Gligar Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Terrakion: 186-222 (57.5 - 68.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Basically, Mega Bro is mighty Mr. Thickums, and can stomach any hit BandRak wants to throw at it. It can heal with Slack Off and KO / Burn Terrakion should it choose to stay in with Scald. So yea, that's Mega Bro.

Slowbro @ Slowbronite
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 76 Def / 180 SpD
Bold Nature
- Scald
- Ice Beam
- Psyshock / Fire Blast

Quick announcement about some new bans me and BackAtYouBro have decided to implement.

From here on out, Blissey/Quag/Alomomola/Bronzong/Alolan Muk/Pyukumuku are all now disallowed from current and future submissions. We as hosts felt that submitting these Pokémon is quite lazy in a metagame full of interesting defensive countermeasures that aren’t found exclusively on stall or are only picked to counter specific threats. Thank you for your cooperation, and have a wonderful day.

Agreed that zong and alo wak are slightly odd ones to ban. Edit: after this week also think Mimikyu should be included as a check ban due to disguise tbh

Latias @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Calm Mind
- Draco Meteor
- Psyshock
- Recover

Latias as a check. Capable of outspeeding and killing wtih a life orb psyshock. Can also swap in on two of the three main attacks and either attack/recover, so doesn't necessarily need a free swap, and can even survive a stone edge on a roll.

252 Atk Choice Band Terrakion Close Combat vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Latias: 159-188 (52.8 - 62.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 Atk Choice Band Terrakion Stone Edge vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Latias: 267-315 (88.7 - 104.6%) -- 31.3% chance to OHKO

252 SpA Life Orb Latias Psyshock vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Terrakion: 330-390 (102.1 - 120.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO

>Bans Specific pokemon for being boring, lazy cop-out submissions
>Proceeds to pick a pokemon with only 5 decent measures in the entire tier making the week extremely boring and predictable
I kid, I kid. Anyway, on to the submission! I'll pick something that isn't Doublade or a fighting resistant ground to keep things interesting.

188794

Mimikyu @ Life Orb
Ability: Disguise
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Play Rough
- Shadow Sneak
- Shadow Claw
The first Mimikyu submission since it was just unbanned to UU! Mimikyu is a super solid check because Life Orb Play Rough will always OHKO. (252 Atk Life Orb Mimikyu Play Rough vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Terrakion: 328-385 (101.5 - 119.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO) and Disguise lets it always take one hit, letting it come in and revenge kill Terrakion off of a KO or pivot. It can also switch in manually on Close Combat or Quick Attack if needed, being completely immune to these moves and using the Band-locked Terrakion as setup bait.

Latias

Latias.full.1990139.jpg
Latias @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Psychic
- Hidden Power Fire
- Roost

Latias is a rather good check to Choice Band Terrakion, as it withstands Close Combat and is due to Levitate immune to Earthquake. When Latias switches in on a strong Close Combat it can either
Roost or fire off a strong STAB Psychic and revenge kill Terrakion with it. Draco Meteor is another strong movechoice, which will OHKO terrakion after the drops, due to the use of Close Combat
Hoever Latias has to be careful about switching in on a strong STAB Stone Edge coming from Terrakion as this move is able to OHKO latias, but in overall due to the fact that Latias resists CC and is immune to Earthquake with
some careful switchins Latias is able to put Terrakion down.

Calcs:
252 SpA Life Orb Latias Psychic vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Terrakion: 374-439 (115.7 - 135.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 SpA Life Orb Latias Draco Meteor vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Terrakion: 269-317 (83.2 - 98.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 SpA Life Orb Latias Draco Meteor vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Terrakion: 269-317 (83.2 - 98.1%) -- 31.3% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock
252 SpA Life Orb Latias Draco Meteor vs. -1 0 HP / 0 SpD Terrakion: 402-473 (124.4 - 146.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO

252 Atk Choice Band Terrakion Close Combat vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Latias: 159-188 (52.8 - 62.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock
252 Atk Choice Band Terrakion Stone Edge vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Latias: 267-315 (88.7 - 104.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock
Terrakion Earthquake vs. Levitate Latias: 0-0 (0 - 0%) -- possibly the worst move ever
252 Atk Choice Band Terrakion Quick Attack vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Latias: 72-85 (23.9 - 28.2%) -- guaranteed 4HKO after Stealth Rock

i-wish-this-was-a-counter hard check

doublade @ eviolite

evs: 252 hp / 216 atk / 40 spdef or whatever

Choice Band Scizor as a check

Scizor @ Choice Band
Ability: Technician
EVs: 164 HP / 252 Atk / 92 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Bullet Punch
- U-turn
- Superpower
- Pursuit

Zor can always revenge kill Terrakion with CB Bullet Punch, and it can switch into one of its attacks if needed since only Close Combat can OHKO Scizor, and it's a roll in Scizor's favor (assuming zor is at full health and no rocks on the field).

252+ Atk Choice Band Technician Scizor Bullet Punch vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Terrakion: 354-416 (109.5 - 128.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 Atk Choice Band Terrakion Close Combat vs. 164 HP / 0 Def Scizor: 292-345 (90.6 - 107.1%) -- 43.8% chance to OHKO
252 Atk Choice Band Terrakion Stone Edge vs. 164 HP / 0 Def Scizor: 244-288 (75.7 - 89.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 Atk Choice Band Terrakion Earthquake vs. 164 HP / 0 Def Scizor: 163-192 (50.6 - 59.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Solaros & Lunaris

Altaria @ Altarianite
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 64 HP / 252 Atk / 192 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Return
- Refresh
- Roost

DD Alt is a nice check to CB Terrak, eating any attack after Rocks and hitting back with Return or threatening to set up a Dragon Dance. Mind you, this is an emergency scenario—a secondary check that is more prone to CC and less prone to Stone Edge is a valuable partner to ease this matchup further. Also, unless you are sure you can’t sweep, set up with DD before attacking.

A couple of questions...

Not that it matters much, but why was my Articuno not listed in the voting count?

Are you allowed to submit a Pokemon that has already been submitted? I see two Latias' here.

1. That was an error of mine thanks for pointing that out.
2. I allow multiple sets of the same Pokémon from different users as long as the set can still check or counter the Victim. The OP says all the rules about this project I implore you to check it out in case you are confused about anything else.

Banned deucer.

Hippowdon @ Leftovers
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP / 80 Def / 176 SpD
Impish Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Slack Off
- Toxic

252 Atk Choice Band Terrakion Close Combat vs. 252 HP / 80+ Def Hippowdon: 216-255 (51.4 - 60.7%) -- 91.8% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
0 Atk Hippowdon Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Terrakion: 258-306 (79.8 - 94.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Here your best option is CC to get more damage. Hippo with his great defense and taking advantage that CC lowers the defense of Terrakion can easily end EQ.

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, Dingbat, I present to you an original set from Nightingales....

Celebi @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Leaf Storm / Giga Drain
- Psychic
- U-turn
- Dazzling Gleam / Hidden Power [Fire] / Earth Power / Signal Beam
Scarf Celebi is a fantastic and diverse check to Terrakion right now, since it also steps in to handle some other metagame threats by way of luring them in like Hydreigon and Latias. Basically switch in on anything Terrakion has, you live it, and OHKO with your own STABs. Or pivot if you think they're onto you.

I guess I’m doing this again and forever. Here’s our slate, one counter submission means I’m only having checks listed:

Checks:

Calm Mind Latias by Estarossa

Mimikyu by Smallsmallrose

Life Orb Latias by Katy

Doublade by dingbat

Choice Band Scizor by Daiyaga

Dragon Dance Altaria by Solaros & Lunaris

Hippowdon by Sunsetwinds

Choice Scarf Celebi by Nightingales

Vote on two checks, deadline is Thursday.

Not voting entails being Scizorphobic levels of lame, and you don’t want to be that, I assure you.
