OP inspired from OU | hosted by avg | amazing art by Kiwi

Welcome to the UnderUsed Community Create-a-Team project, where we attempt to create a competitive and viable UU team that can be used in the current metagame. Each week we will choose each teamslot with a set and explanations on why it fits the team. After the Pokemon are submitted we vote on the Pokemon that fits the team best. After all six Pokemon are submitted, we go over the team and make a few adjustments on the original team.

Rules:
- Post only Pokemon from the UU Viability Rankings. If you want to submit an unranked Pokemon, make sure to post replays showcasing how it could be a good member to the team.
- Try not to post gimmick sets. If it is a minor adjustment then fine, but try not to post objectively bad sets.
- When you post your submission, add a moveset and a few sentences on why you chose this Pokemon for the team.
- Explanations for your votes are appreciated, but not mandatory.
- Make sure your submission is legal in a [Gen 8] UnderUsed format, so don't post a BL or OU Pokemon
- Make sure your submission fits with your team.
- Have fun!

Latias (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Thunderbolt
- Ice Beam
- Calm Mind
- Substitute

This is a neat set I've been experimenting with that turns Latias into a bulky wincon. Thanks to Latias' already great speed and bulk, it gets the opportunity to set up on many Pokemon in the tier, and the BoltBeam coverage allows it to hit almost all of the tier for neutral damage at worst. It obviously has some roadblocks (such as special walls and Choice Scarfers) that need to be removed before it can set up and sweep, however, so hopefully we can build a team with some good support for it!

Mienshao @ Life Orb
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Close Combat
- Knock Off
- U-turn
- Poison Jab

This little bastard over here is IMO a pretty good start to the team, it mandates support but still pairs nicely with a ton of good things and has many different routes it can go. LO Mienshao is just an amazing wallbreaker, pretty much unwallable. Its a fighting type and physical attacker that can easily get past primarina and skarmory, unkillable thanks to regenerator and offers infinite pivoting. Starting the team with an offensive check to hydra and drill is pretty good so we don't have to worry bout them later.

Gyarados @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature / Jolly Nature
- Waterfall
- Bounce
- Substitute
- Dragon Dance

Might not fit in every playstyle but this is kinda bonkers. Washtom isnt having a super good time with all the drops and stall is rare, so dropping pwhip isnt too bad. Sub allows you to play around Teela, Mold breaker exca (assuming no bad spd tox), Jira, slowking and a couple of others depending on moveset. I like to build around solid wincons and try to find ways to get past/handle their checks with the remaining 5, and Gyarados is super interesting on paper with how painful it is to revenge kill and how not too hard it is to get a sub/dd up. Needs a bit more support than 3atk boots but can slowball a lot easier once you get the sub up.

Excadrill @ Leftovers
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Iron Head
- Stealth Rock
- Rapid Spin

One of the new drops that we got, Excadrill's good defensive typing and combined access to Stealth Rock and Rapid Spin gives it great utility and makes it a solid glue mon for any team. It fits in a lot of different playstyles, making this an interesting mon to build around :3

Conkeldurr @ Flame Orb

- Facade
- Knock Off
- Mach Punch

Conk is something that has a lot of potential now in the metagame, preying on the slower state to cause havoc. Mach is excellent for revenging hyreigon and excadrill, while in general conk can muscle through common defensive Pokemon like tang, skarm, steela, slowking, and amog us. Not much to say, def an interesting mon that would be fun to build around.

- Boomburst
- Volt Switch

Okay, not as meta as other options here, but I think Tox has a niche right now. Fairies, fat Grasses, and Flying types like Skarm and Mandi are all over the place. Tox takes advantage of these through its unique Poison/Electric typing, which also affords it Toxic and T-Wave immunity. A 180 BP Boomburst off 359 SpAtk is nothing to scoff at either, making big dents in things that resist its STABs. It's not the perfect anti-meta choice, but it's an underutilized threat that's gotten me some success on ladder.

Sorry guys, but if we’re doing this again I suggest something a little less pedestrian and a lot more meme. Behold, Azumarill!

(insert sprite here)
Azumarill @ Leftovers
Ability: Sap Sipper
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Whirlpool
- Perish Song
- Protect
- Rest

So many of the new drops defensively or offensively check Azu, as well as some resurgent old picks. Perish Trap dismantles these walls and is just super frustrating to get caught out by.

Chandelure @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Flash Fire / Flame Body
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Toxic
- Protect
- Hex
- Flamethrower

Something a bit more fun but very potent to build with atm in a metagame full of Slowking, Jirachi, fat Grasses and Bulu, Skarmory etc. Unlike other Chandelure sets, Toxic + Hex plays more of a long game, but really messes with shorter-term switches like Hydreigon who start getting forced to use a lot of Roosts to deal with the Hex spam and Toxic stalling. Outside of Hyd/Chansey we really lack good switch-ins to this mon, and it punishes some of the slower defensive cores people are spamming really nicely once it gets going.

252 SpA Chandelure Hex (130 BP) vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Hydreigon: 125-147 (38.4 - 45.2%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery and toxic damage
252 SpA Chandelure Hex (130 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Slowking: 312-368 (79.1 - 93.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after toxic damage

Great submissions for the first week, time to vote! :pimp:

The voting system used is the Ranked Pairs format (the same as CAP uses). To vote you basically order your options like this: C>B>A>D, like this A>B=C>D, or like this D>C, assuming there are 4 partner options (A, B, C, and D). If you choose not to vote for all partners, the last partner(s) will be assumed to be last and valued equally if more than one got left out. Additionally, don't vote for your own submission. If you have any questions, by all means, ask me.

Mienshao @ Life Orb
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Close Combat
- Knock Off
- U-turn
- Stone Edge

The major thing that this Chandy set struggles to deal with are Dark-types. This is not exactly the best thing, though, as Dark-types like Hydriegon, Umbreon, and Mandibuzz are very prominent in the meta right now. Therefore, Mienshao makes a lot of sense as a partner for Chandy to help deal with these Dark types, being able to outspeed and OHKO most of them with Close Combat. It runs Stone Edge over Poison Jab to hit the aforementioned Mandibuzz.

:ss/Conkeldurr:

Conkeldurr @ Flame Orb
Ability: Guts
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Drain Punch
- Facade
- Knock Off
- Mach Punch

Conk is really stupid in the current meta and makes an excellent partner for Chandelure to eliminate the Dark types that would trouble it (as well as Chansey). I opted for Drain Punch over Close Combat to preserve Conk longer since it is such a gigantic threat in current UU, and Facade/Knock Off can be used if you want a hard hit in almost every circumstance anyway. Conk also helps Chandy deal with Excadrill, Galarian Slowbro, and Nihilego.

:zarude-dada:
Zarude-Dada @ Heavy-Duty Boots / Choice Scarf
Ability: Leaf Guard
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Darkest Lariat
- Power Whip
- U-turn
- Jungle Healing

In a similar way to Shao, this can pivot in a bunch of stuff including dark moves (any krook moves bar cc, hydrei's dark pulse), water moves and can easily sit on Slowking until it's in Chandelure's range. Zarude can also force RH Tangrowth and Skarmory in and U-Turn really easily, which gives Chandelure free shots at clicking its moves. In return, Chandelure can potentially catch spd Mandi and Clanger (among a few others) off guard w/ toxic and slowly put them in Zarude's range.

Is this set awful? Probably. Should you vote for it? No! But if Chandelure can lure and poison Dark types then can it win you games? Maybe.

Double check if the set is legal because idk if it is.

Also Aqua Tail might be better in general
