May 9th Teasers:

Congratulations to Estarossa and Scizorphobic for winning this session of UU Brain Teasers with a tie! Congratz to pokeisfun as well for making it to the lightning round, and thanks to everyone else for playing!

In a standard UU game, a Sableye leads against a Druddigon. The druddigon has Mold Breaker as an ability. How does Sableye bounce back Druddigon’s Stealth Rocks on turn 2?

A: Sableye uses Magic Coat

On turn 1 of a UU game, an Altaria Dragon Dances vs a Hippowdon. Next turn, the Hippowdon Outspeeds. How is this possible?

A: It’s not mega and has an Iron Ball.

In a Standard UU Game, A Frosslass uses Spikes vs a Mamoswine. Frosslass gets 3 layers up, and is undamaged during this time. The Mamoswine is Taunted, so it can only attack. The Mamoswine didn’t switch. How?

A: The Mamoswine used a Normal Type move all 3 turns.

Primarina doubles in on a switch from Celebi into Infernape. The Infernape switches out into Celebi via Uturn, but when Celebi comes in, it is up against a Hydreigon. How did this happen?

A: Primarina was holding a red card.

2 Scizors are on the field, both at 100% Health. 1 Scizor uses Knock Off, and does around 40%, and the other Scizor uses Superpower against the other Scizor and does around 38%. At the end of the turn, the Scizor who was knocked off is at full HP, and the other Scizor who used Superpower is dead. What happened?

A: The other scizor is soaked and takes a fure sight, killing it, and the other scizor got Wished by blissey earlier.

A: No

How much PP does a standard defensive Primarina have in total?

A: 80

How many pokemon in the UU tier have access to Knock Off?

A: 15

Does a Life Orb focus Blast from Gengar OHKO a Mega Aggron after Stealth Rocks?

A: No

13th May Brain Teasers

Congratulations to Clefable for winning this weeks brain teasers! Also well done to Twilight for reaching the lightning round, and Daiyaga for coming incredibly close with some really good answers too! Hope to see you all again next week, and thanks to everyone who took part :)

Questions are given below, have a go cause some of them were quite a lot harder this time!

Question 1: At the start of a turn of a standard UU game, your pokemon holding safety goggles has 1% hp left. The enemies attack fails to do any damage, but you are dead by the end of the turn. How is this possible? Your pokemon did not use any moves that cause recoil, the enemy is not holding a rocky helmet, did not have iron barbs or rough skin as an ability at any point during the turn, and does not know spikey shield. Your pokemon was also not status'd. Future sight has also not been used during the game, nor has perish song. When you died, you were still holding safety goggles.

Answer: Sunshine + Solar Power, eg. charizard
Answer: Sunshine + Dry Skin, eg. toxicroak

Question 2: During a standard UU game, bisharp swaps in during turn 2. How can it be +6 attack before any moves are selected on turn 3? What other stat changes does it have?

Answer: Webs are set up on turn 1 by an araquanid with eject button, slower pokemon attacks and forces you out into silvally. Silvally uses parting shot as bisharp swaps in, -1 attack -1 spA - 1 speed + 6 attack -> + 5 attack -1 spa -1 speed, swaps into intimidate krookodile which puts it at +6 attack -1 spa -1 speed.

Question 3: On turn 1 of a standard UU game, a level 100 Assault vest mienshao (100 hp 156 spdef 252 speed timid) uses swords dance. On turn 3, a max spA timid level 100 hydreigon uses z-draco meteor and fails to kill it. How did this happen? Magic room has not been used. Trick has not been used. Skill swap has not been used. Substitute, Endure, Protect, Detect have not been used by the mienshao. Assume here for the sake of the question that Mienshao is allowed to click SD on turn 1 with its AV up, just that the move would fail under normal circumstances and it would waste the turn.

Answer: Turn 1 a lopunny with klutz uses entrainment on mienshao. Turn 2 it swaps into a level 1 mummy cofagrius and is killed by a move such as knock off, giving mienshao mummy, thus making its assault vest work again on turn 3.

Question 4: On turn 1 of a standard UU game, the enemy leads with a level 100 max speed max spa timid latias. On turn 1,2 and 3 it uses calm mind. On turn 4 it uses psyshock. On turn 5, Hydreigon is brought in and lives a +2 z-draco meteor from it. How did this happen? Hydreigon is level 100, with 0 HP and 0 Spdef EVs, and is not holding a focus sash/band, did not use endure or protect or substitute, and latias's move hit hydreigon for actual damage.

Answer: Clefairy uses Misty terrain turn 1 (runs out turn 5), then uses gravity turn 2 (runs out turn 6). On turn 3 swaps into a tailwind user faster than latias. On turn 4 uses tailwind, is killed by latias's +3 psyshock. Turn 5 hydreigon outspeeds under tailwind, uses confide to bring latias down to +2, hydreigon holding a haban berry.

+2 252 SpA Latias Devastating Drake (195 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Haban Berry Hydreigon in Misty Terrain: 307-363 (94.4 - 111.6%) -- 68.8% chance to OHKO

Question 5: On turn 1 of a standard UU game, the enemy sets up misty terrain. You are leading with a swampert. The enemy is not holding a red card. On turn 2, your swampert succesfully uses rest, and the enemy is at full HP. How was this possible? The enemy is not holding any form of recovery item. Your swampert is itemless.

Answer: Your swampert is level 1 and uses a recoil move such as double edge against a level 100 florges, causing less than 6% damage to the florges, but putting you below 100% HP. The florges sets up misty terrain on first turn. On second turn it sets up grassy terrain instead, allowing your swampert to use rest. The grassy terrain heals florges back to full.

Question 6: During a standard UU game, your doublade is at 51% HP at beginning of a turn. It knows no recovery moves or moves that cause recoil, and is not damaged by any form of recoil via spiky shield, rocky helmet, iron barbs, rough skin etc. The enemy does not use heal pulse on it, and it was not passed a wish. At the end of the turn, it is now at 100% HP. How did this happen? Pain split was not used, and doublade is level 100.

Answer: Your doublade is holding a sitrus berry. Hail is up. Opposing dedenne with cheek pouch as ability uses entrainment on you. When hail hits it reduces you to 45% HP, sitrus berry is activated and puts you to 70% HP, and then cheek pouch activates putting you to full.

Answer: Level 1 enemy flings an iapapa berry at you doing less than 1% damage while you use SD.

Question 7: On turn 1 of a standard UU game, an itemless scizor leads against the enemy pokemon. At the beginning of turn 2 it is still itemless, and it succesffully swaps (without u-turn or volt switch) on a magnet pull magneton. How did this happen?

Answer: Turn 1 it lead against an eject button gourgeist that used trick or treat, making it part ghost type.

Answer: Turn 1 it leads against a fast pokemon with soak and eject button, making it water type and not steel.

Sorry to disappoint everyone, and I know this sounds cheap and that it sounds like I'm just trying to get out of doing this, but Brain Teasers are canceled tonight due to me having to push it back due to family issues. I'm sorry for putting you all through the ringer, and if you all want, I can maybe host at like 11pm (GMT -4) tonight. It's understandable if you cannot make it due to it being so late, and I apologize for this, as it wasn't planned.

20th May Brain Teasers

Congratulations to Jacobikko for winning this round of Brain Teasers! Well done to Darksafadao , Clefable and tekking461 for reaching the lightning round (and bailing in mengy's case cough).

Thanks everyone else who played, and hope to see you next time! Questions and some of the intended answers are given below if you want to have a go, they definitely proved to be the toughest yet.

Question 1: During a turn of a standard UU game, after both pokemon have moved, the enemy pokemon is at 70% HP. Once the turn has finished the enemy pokemon is at full HP. How did this happen? It did not recieve a wish pass. Your pokemon is not under the effects of leech seed. The enemy is not holding a big root or a berry.

Answer: Enemy corsola holding leftovers, has been skill swapped rain dish, and rain is up. Corsola has also used both aqua ring and ingrain. Grassy terrain is also up. Regains 5/16 HP at end of turn.

Answer: a toxicd shroomish with poison heal and leftovers and grassy terrain and ingrain (learnt by mimic).

Question 2: On Turn 2 of a standard UU game, your pokemon is unaffected by Golbat's Hypnosis. On Turn 3, the enemy Golbat's quick attack fails. How did this happen? Sleep clause was not activated, and you did not have an ability that prevents hypnosis. The effects of substitute, protect and detect were not up, nor was safeguard. Hypnosis did not miss. No pokemon on your team knows u-turn. You were still alive when the enemy golbat's quick attack failed.

Answer: Turn 1 enemy meowstic skill swaps prankster to your fast Mr Mime. You in turn attack it trigger its' eject button bringing out a golbat pokemon with both hypnosis and quick attack. You then set up with prankster a misty terrain on turn 2. Then next turn you set up a psychic terrain, outspeeding as you are faster.

Answer: Turn 1 you set up misty terrain with a pokemon such as mr mime. Turn 2 you switch to your tsareena with queenly majesty.

Question 3: On turn 1 of a standard UU game, you lead with a timid level 100 max speed Hippowdon. On turn 4, you swap into a magic bounce espeon on an enemy hippowdon, but the hippowdon's stealth rocks are not bounced back. How did this happen? Skill swap and role play have not been used. Neither team has a pancham or a pangoro.

Answer: Turn 1 the enemy leads with a level 100 0 speed EV 31 speed IV lilligant, holding a red card. Uses entrainment against your hippowdon. Your hippowdon uses earthquake and triggers the red card, bringing out your level 100 max speed timid mold breaker pinsir holding a red card. You outspeed and use mimic, while the enemy triggers your red card and brings out their hippowdon. You now use entrainment on their hippowdon giving it mold breaker. You then swap in on espeon.

Question 4: On turn 4 of a standard UU game, the enemy uses swift against your latias, and it fails to hit. The latias did not use protect and did not die first. On turn 6 of the same game, without any pokemon swapping out, swift was used against the latias again and it damages it. How did this happen? Miracle eye, odor sleuth and foresight have not been used, latias was not tricked a ring target. Latias does not know fly, dive, or mimic, and did not use any other moves that would give it temporary invulnerability.

Answer: Turn 1 you lead with a max speed scrappy pangoro with eject button against a minimum speed gastly. You use entrainment on the gastly, which then attacks pangoro triggering eject button bringing out your latias. Turn 2, gengar uses skill swap giving latias scrappy, and latias uses reflect type becoming part ghost type. Turn 3, enemy swaps into spoink, while latias uses recover. Turn 4 spoink uses swift it fails, latias recovers. Turn 5, spoink uses role play gaining scrapy, latias recovers. Turn 6 spoink uses swift and hits.

Enemy running a kecleon. Turn 1 it uses a ghost move. Turn 2 you reflect type to become ghost type. Turn 4 it uses swift, becoming a normal type and fails. Turn 5 you reflect type again to become normal type again [Credit to mengy for this insane answer]

Question 5: On turn 2 of a standard UU game, your assault vest hippowdon is facing a natu, with no item, natu does not die on turn 2, the effects of magic room are not up and hippowdon does not lose its item, and natu does not use u-turn. Before your hippowdon moves on turn 3, your hippowdon has -2 attack and -2 special attack. How did this happen? Hippowdon did not recieve any stat changes before turn 3.

Answer: Turn 1 natu is holding a red card, you lead a level 1 golisopod slower than natu. Natu uses skill swap to get emergency exit, golisopod uses liquidation, and triggers red card sending out your hippowdon. Turn 2 natu uses simple beam on hippowdon, hippowdon attacks with crunch and forces natu into range of emergency exit, bringing out silvally-steel. Turn 3, silvally uses parting shot.

Question 6: On turn 1 of a standard UU game, an anticipation eevee does not shudder. It is then killed by a super-effective move. How did this happen? The move was not called by copycat, me first, metronome, or assist.

Answer: Silvally fighting with multi attack registers as a normal move to anticipation.

Answer: Chople berry natural gift.

hey

I'm stepping down as a host because i've been absolutely terrible and inconsistent at hosting these as well as me just being a bad host of the actual sessions themselves. I'm glad for the time I got to help w/ this project, and maybe I'll even pop in for a session or two in the future. Best of luck from me to you all!

27th May Brain Teasers

Congratulations to Twilight for winning this weeks brain teasers! Sorry for the shorter session, I have quite a busy week irl this week.

Questions are given below as always :)

Question 1: On turn 3 of a standard UU game, a Xatu sets up a light screen, after this the enemy togekiss attempts to use brick break on it and fails to remove the screens. On turn 5 the togekiss manages to remove screens with brick break. No pokemon swapped out between turns 3 and 5. How did this happen? At the beginning of the game, the xatu's moveset did not include skill swap. Your xatu does not know protect or detect or substitute. Togekiss's accuracy was not reduced and xatu was not holding bright powder.

Answer: Turn 1 choice scarf max speed porygon2 uses conversion, xatu uses mimic. Turn 2 porygon swaps into minimum speed togekiss, xatu uses conversion to turn into ghost type as first move is night shade. Turn 3 xatu uses light screen, togekiss tries to brick break but fails. Turn 4 xatu uses reflect or another move, togekiss uses foresight. Turn 5 togekiss's brick break hits and removes screens.

Question 2: On turn 4 of a standard UU game, the enemy machamp uses close combat again your gengar, and it fails due to gengar being a ghost type. On turn 5 however, it hits and causes damage. How did this happen? The enemy machamp is running only one move: close combat. Your gengar was itemless since preview, and still was at turn 5.

Answer: Turn 1 you lead a normalise delcatty, the enemy smeargle holding a red card uses skill swap on you faster, then delcatty attacks and is forced out into your gengar. Turn 2 you then skill swap with gengar to get normalise, while the enemy smeargle uses plasma fists. Turn 3 your gengar uses mimic to get plasma fists while the smeargle uses u-turn to swap to machamp. Turn 4 you skill swap normalise to machamp, while it uses close combat and fails. Turn 5 you then use plasma fists on machamp turning close combat from a fighting type move to a normal type move due to normalise to an electric type move due to plasma fists.

Question 3: On turn 2 of a standard UU game, your porygon2 avoids taking damage from a gligars earthquake, without using protect, detect or a substitute, or the move missing due to accuracy. How did this happen? Porygon2 is not holding an air balloon, and magnet rise has not been used. Porygon2 does not know aerial ace at beginning of game.

Answer: Your porygon2 and gligar share the same speed. On turn 1 gligar outspeeds and uses aerial ace, while porygon2 uses mimic (which is its first move). On turn 2 porygon2 outspeeds and uses conversion to become a flying type and avoid earthquake.

Question 4: On turn 2 of a standard UU game, your pokemon is immune to a choice scarf krookodiles earthquake. On turn 3 the choice scarf krookodile hits you with earthquake. How did this happen? You were not holding an air balloon at any point. You do not know roost, or mimic or metronome or copycat. Gravity was not used.

Answer: Turn 1 your ferroseed leads off against an eject button prankster meowstic. It uses skill swap and gives you prankster, you attack it and force it out into krookodile. Turn 2 you use magnet rise, turn 3 you use ingrain.

6th June Brain Teasers

Congratulations to Daiyaga for winning this week's Brain teasers! Well done to Jacobikko and Scizorphobic for reaching the lightning round!
Hope everyone had a good time, and hope to see you all again next week back on mondays as usual!

Questions are given below, had a mix of some easier questions this week for once!

Question 1: On turn 3 of a standard UU game, a +2 level 100 Max SpA Timid fightinium-z infernape uses fire blast on a level 100 Max Attack Max Speed Adamant Scizor, and fails to kill. How did this happen? Fire blast hit and caused damage, scizor is not holding a focus sash or band, and it did not use any survival moves such as endure, or have a substitute up. Neither pokemon had any stats altered.

Answer: Turn 1 occa berry scizor faces a max speed timid eject button heatrpoof bronzong, bronzong uses skill swap, scizor uses a non bulletpunch / u-turn move such as bug buzz to force bronzong out into infernape. Turn 2 infernape uses nasty plot ,scizor uses rain dance. TUrn 3, : +2 252 SpA Infernape Fire Blast vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Occa Berry Heatproof Scizor in Rain: 186-218 (66.1 - 77.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Answer: Scizor was soaked and is holding an assault vest.

Question 2: In a standard UU game, your current pokemon is a Cresselia, while the enemy has a non-status'd pokemon behind a substitute. Cresselia's ability is still levitate. Cresselia moves first in the turn, and causes the enemy to die. How did this happen? Future sight has not been used, the enemy is not confused, and the enemy knows no moves with recoil, ,or explosion/self destruct, and has pp remaining. The enemy does not know copycat. Cresselia does not know any sound based moves.

Answer: The enemy is an Oricorio. Cresselia uses lunar dance, causing the orocorio to copy it through dancer and also kill itself.

Question 3: On turn 1 of a standard UU game, a max speed jolly krookodile leads against a Max SpA starmie. The krookodile is burned by the starmie's scald. The krookodile is not holding a berry or a choice band. On turn 3 it kills a level 100 lucario with an earthquake, without getting a crit, and it still has it's original item. How did this happen? Krookodile does not know rest. Krookodile's ability is intimidate, it only knows attacking moves, and it does not have a groundium-z.

Answer: Turn 1 level 72 Starmie (to avoid the OHKO after burn damage) holding eject button, krookodile attacks starmie forced into araquanid. Krookodile is holding a lagging tail so it goes last. Araquanid is eject button also. Turn 2 araquanid uses entrainment giving krookodile water bubble curing it of its burn, krookodile attacks and forces out araquanid. Turn 3 lucario uses nasty plot to avoid killing krook and is then killed.

Answer: Same but forced into a level 1 primarina not araquanid, who uses sparkling aria, and is then forced out into lucario.

Question 4: On turn 1 of a standard UU game, the enemy leads with a rhyperior knowing 2 STAB moves, Fire punch and stealth rocks. None of these moves are supereffective against the pokemon you lead, who's only move is substitute and is slower, yet on turn 2 you die to a supereffective move. How did this happen? No pokemon were swapped.

Answer: You lead a color change kecleon who is slower, rhyperior used fire punch making you a fire type while you used substitute. On turn 2 substitute prevented color change activating while rhyperior used rock blast to kill you through substitute.

Question 5: On turn 2 of a standard UU game, your Gengar lives a dark pulse from a level 100 max SpA max Speed Timid Choice specs Hydreigon, who did not have it's stat's reduced. Gengar was not holding a berry, and it doesn't not know protect, endure, metronome, mimic or have a substitute up. On Turn 3 hydreigon kills your gengar. On turn 4 you bring out a non choice scarf ribombee without any boosting moves (such as calm mind or quiver dance). On turn 6 it outspeeds a max speed level 100 timid choice scarf latias and hits it first with a moonblast. How did this happen? Latias and ribombee both chose +0 priority moves on turn 6. Magic room has not been used all game. Gengar does not have a focus sash or band. Ribombee doesn't know tailwind.

Answer: Turn 1 lagging tail gengar faces a stakataka. Stakataka uses skill swap to give you beast boost, while you kill it with focus blast. You are 252 HP 252 Spdef Careful nature Gengar, meaning you get a SpD boost. Next turn you live the dark pulse and skill swap beast boost to hydreigon.
252 SpA Choice Specs Hydreigon Dark Pulse vs. +1 252 HP / 252+ SpD Gengar: 218-260 (67.2 - 80.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Next turn you die to the hydreigon, while it gets a spattack boost. Turn 4 you then bring out a ribombee which is faster, skil lswap to get beast boost, holding red card, live the dark pulse and force out hydreigon into a weak pokemon which dies to a moonblast on turn 5, giving your ribombee a speed boost. TUrn 6 you are now faster than latias and hit it first with a moonblast.

Question 6: you lead with A level 1 Porygon2 with Air Balloon at the start of a standard UU game. On turn 2 it does not get damaged by a fire punch from an infernape. The enemy has no mold breaker pokemon, or any pokemon with any status inducing moves, or any pokemon with roar/whirlwind, however celebi ended up killing you on turn 5. How did all of this happen? Fire punch did not miss, and porygon2 does not know protect or mimic. Porygon2 did not trace the ability flash fire. Skill swap was not used. Celebi does not know any fighting type moves or hidden power. Porygon2 never swapped. Celebi only has grass, dark and psychic moves, and porygon2 only knows electric, ice and normal type moves.

Answer: You lead against a shedinja and traced wonder guard, then used conversion to become a pure electric type while they swapped, giving you complete immunity to any move due to air balloon. Celebi however used worry seed on turn 4 to supress wonder guard and kill you.

Question 1: On turn 1 of a standard UU game, a choice scarf minimum speed level 100 empoleon uses scald. On turn 2, the empoleon outspeeds and uses grass knot. How did this happen? Knock off has not been used, the empoleon is still holding a choice scarf at the end of turn 2, and magic room and embargo have not been used. The specific pokemon must be given in the answer. All pokemon are level 100.

Answer: Klutz audino uses entrainment on empoleon.
Answer: Klutz audino uses skill swap.

Question 2: On turn 1 of a standard UU game, you lead with a Gengar. On turn 2, an enemy machamp uses knock off against you, and you take no damage, despite not using protect / substitute. Gengar does not know metronome or mimic. On turn 3 however, the machamp hits you with knock off. How did this happen? Gengar is not holding bright powder, and machamps accuracy was not lowered by an ability, item, or stat changes.

Answer: Turn 1 your minimum speed gengar leads against an eject button normalize max speed delcatty who skill swaps normalize to gengar, while you attack and force it out into machamp. Turn 2 Machamp is holding a ring target, and you skill swap normalize to it turning knock off into a normal type move which fails to cause any damage. Turn 3 you trick to get the ring target so that the normal type knock off now hits.

Question 3: On turn 2 of a standard UU game, a girafarig with no HP investment survives an X-Scissor from a level 100 max attack max speed jolly hustle Durant holding a steelium-z without the use of a focus sash/band, protect, endure, substitute or mimic or sturdy. Durants Attack stat has not been altered in any way, and x-scissor did not miss. Girafarig is not holding any berries. No pokemon is holding a quick claw or a custap berry. Girafarig does not know any special moves. Reflect/Light Screen/ Aurora Veil have not been used all game. On turn 3, durant kills girafarig. On turn 7 of the same game, a level 100 max attack max spattack modest leftovers starmie OHKOs a level 100 92 HP evs choice specs modest primarina with grass knot. Starmie does not know any stat boosting moves, or mimic. How did this happen? Starmie still has leftovers at the end of turn 7. Primarina has not had its stat's changed, and did not have it's ability changed. Grassy terrain was not used. Please provide calcs with your answers. Starmie did not recieve any stat boosts after turn 4.

Turn 1 girafarig holding lagging tail faces a level 1 stakataka, who skill swaps gira beast boost whie gira kills it with an eq. Girafarig is max defence and gains a defence beast boost allowing it to survive an X-Scissor

252 Atk Hustle Durant X-Scissor vs. +1 0 HP / 252+ Def Girafarig: 218-258 (77.5 - 91.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

On turn 2 girafarig survives the x-scissor and skill swaps beast boost to durant. On turn 3 durant then kills girafarig. On turn 4 durant outspeeds the starmie, uses entrainment to give it beast boost, while starmie kills it with hidden power fire and gets +1 SpAttack. On turn 5 scizor is brought out, starmie skill swaps to gain technician, while scizor uses SD. Turn 6 starmie kills scizor with hidden power fire. Turn 7 it is now powerful enough to kill primarina,

+1 252+ SpA Technician Starmie Grass Knot (60 BP) vs. 92 HP / 0 SpD Primarina on a critical hit: 356-420 (109.8 - 129.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Question 4: On turn 1 of a standard UU game, you lead a no guard Doublade, who's only move is iron head. You then proceed to miss.the iron head How did this happen? The enemy is not holding bright powder. Iron head attempted to move therefore you are not affected by things such as status.

Answer: Hustle durant uses entrainment on you to make iron head 80% accurate.

Question 5: On turn 1 of a standard UU game, you lead an azelf. You are faster on turn 1, and the enemy tricks a choice scarf onto you, and then on turn 2 swaps into a grumpig. On turn 3 you click explosion. How did this happen? Magic room and embargo have not been used, and you still have a choice scarf.

Answer: Enemy is a damp jellicent on turn 1. You skill swap to get damp on your azelf making explosion always fail, while jellicent tricks a scarf onto you. You click explosion on turn 2 but it fails due to damp, allowing you to click it again on turn 3

Question 6: On turn 3 of a standard UU game, a max speed level 100 adamant scizor uses worry seed on a minimum speed level 100 cofagrius, who has no attacking moves, making it's ability insomnia. On turn 4 of the same game, scizor attacks cofagrius and triggers it's ability mummy. How did this happen? No pokemon swapped between turn 3 and 4.

Answer: Turn 1 amoongus uses worry seed on scizor, scizor uses mimic. Turn 2 amoongus swaps to cofagrius, scizor uses bullet punch on cofag to get mummy. On turn 3 scizor uses worry seed on cofagrius cofagrius uses skill swap to give scizor insomnia and gain mummy. On turn 4, scizor uses Bullet punch and triggers mummy.

18th June Brain Teasers

Congratulations to BChezza for winning this round of brain teasers on their first ever go! Also well done to Twilight , Jacobikko and masterball200 for reaching the lightning round!

Hope to see you all again next week, when i'll be back to hosting on mondays as usual! The questions and answers are below as always, make sure to try out question 3, was a really tricky one that no-one got an answer for!

Question 1: On turn 2 of a UU CONSOLE game, WITHOUT any of the UU clauses, you have a smooth rock hippowdon against a level 100 max speed adamant crobat. This is the enemies only pokemon. On turn 4, crobat is forced to struggle. On turn 5 you switch in to a level 100 max speed adamant sand rush stoutland. On turn 6, crobat outspeeds you. How did this happen? No item swapping moves have been used, and no pokemon has cloud nine as an ability. Sandstorm was still up on turn 4. Sticky webs have not been used, and crobat is holding leftovers, and has not had a change of item.

Turn 1 you lead a mega-absol and mega, and use baton pass to swap into hippowdon, while crobat uses ominous wind with only 5 PP. On turn 2 you swap into mega absol again while crobat uses ominous wind again. On turn 3 you outspeed and use spite lowering ominous wind's pp to 0, while crobat uses taunt which gets magic bounced back. On turn 4 crobat struggles. On turn 5 crobat breaks through taunt using waterium-z to use rain dance, cancelling sand rush as you swap into stoutland. On turn 6 crobat now outspeeds.

Question 2: On turn 1 of a standard UU game, a Mega-pidgeot is taunted by an electrode. At the end of turn 1, mega-pidgeot has less than full HP. At the end of turn 2, pidgeot is back at full HP. How did this happen? Heal pulse was not used, mega-pidgeots ability was not changed. Electrode was not holding any healing berries it could fling at pidgeot.

Pidgeot uses brave bird on electrode after being taunted, triggering its eject button forcing it out into an Iapapa berry rotom-heat. On turn 2 pidgeot uses pluck to eat the iapapa berry, while rotom-heat uses defog.

Mega-pidgeot uses u-turn on the rocky helmet electrode, getting chipped and goes out into choice scarf latias. Latias uses healing wish to bring pidgeot back in at full HP.

Question 3: On turn 1 of a standard UU game, you lead with a lilligant. On turn 3, you are facing a level 100 max defence max hp impish leftovers hippowdon, and attack it reducing its HP below half, after which it slack offs. On turn 4, you phase hippowdon out before it hits you with earthquake. How did this happen? Your pokemon in turns 3-4 only knows attacking moves, and it is not holding a red card / eject button.

Turn 1 Lilligant uses role play on golisopod, golisopod attacks with liquidation and gets forced out by lilligants red card into hippowdon. Turn 2 lilligant uses entrainment to give hippowdon emergency exit, while hippowdon uses whirlwind forcing you out into life orb nidoking. Turn 3 your sheer force boosted ice beam reduces its hp to below half but does not trigger emergency exit due to sheer force, hippowdon then slack offs. Turn 4 you use superpower which isn't boosted by sheer force, reducing hp below half again and triggering emergency exit.

Question 4: On turn 1 of a standard UU game, you lead with a level 100 max speed max special attack timid life orb gengar. On turn 2 of the same game, your gengar OHKOs a level 100 max hp max defence bold leftovers blissey from full HP. How did this happen? Gengar did not crit blissey. Gengar does not know metronome. On turn 2 blissey clicked ice beam. Wonder room has not been used. Gengar does not know skill swap.

Turn 1 you face off against a level 1 anger point primeape. You use role play to copy anger point, while primeape crits you with u-turn swapping into blissey making you +6 attack. You then use drain punch or submission.

+6 0- Atk Life Orb Gengar Drain Punch vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Blissey: 640-754 (89.6 - 105.6%) -- 37.5% chance to OHKO after Leftovers recovery

Question 5: On turn 1 of a standard UU game, you lead a level 100 max special attack modest clefairy. On turn 6, clefairy OHKOs a level 100 max HP 80 spdef EVs Bold amoongus from full HP. How did this happen? Clefairy does not know belly drum, calm mind, charge beam, metronome, copycat, mimic, echoed voice, psych up, fake tears or role play. Clefairy is not holding a life orb or choice specs/band on turn 6. Clefairy does not know any moves with secondary effects. Swagger was not used against it.

Turn 1 you use z-splash. Next 4 turns you use cosmic power. Then you use stored power.

252+ SpA Clefairy Stored Power (240 BP) vs. 252 HP / 80 SpD Amoonguss: 384-452 (88.8 - 104.6%) -- 31.3% chance to OHKO

Clefairy has 0 defence IVs, gets hit by a banded seed bomb from amoongus on turn 6 and uses counter.

0- Atk Choice Band Amoonguss Seed Bomb vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Clefairy: 237-279 (68.8 - 81.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
Possible damage amounts: (237, 238, 241, 244, 247, 250, 253, 256, 258, 261, 264, 267, 270, 273, 276, 279)
