Urshifu-Rapid-Strike @ Life Orb
Ability: Unseen Fist
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Surging Strikes
- Close Combat
- Ice Punch
- Detect
With its devastating strength and ability to get through traditional defensive counterplay in Intimidate and Protect, Urshifu-R is one of DOU's most notable hard-hitters. Boasting two high-Base Power STAB moves coming off its impressive base 130 Attack, Urshifu-R can easily wreak havoc on essentially the entire metagame outside of Tapu Fini, with Ice Punch coming in handy to cover Amoonguss and Dragon-types such as Dragapult and Naganadel. Urshifu-R's biggest selling point as an attacker, though, is how it ignores defensive options in Intimidate and Protect with Surging Strikes's guaranteed critical hits and its ability Unseen Fist; this more or less means that Urshifu-R can flatten any slot with a powerful attack if not offensively checked with speed control or a faster threat. On that note, its middling Speed is a particularly notable flaw, and without the Speed advantage, its paltry Special Defense will be exposed. Thus, Tailwind support is recommended when running Urshifu-R; Naganadel and Zapdos both match up well against Tapu Fini and Rillaboom, while in return they appreciate Urshifu-R's ability to dispose of Heatran and Kyurem-B.
