Project Ultra SM Break This Team - WK 48 SKEs tail glow manaphy Rain (Voting)

The time for voting is over. Congradulations to Mannat for entering the Archive for the first time with charaizard X nomination. Charizard Both kinds but especially Zard X really push this team and with minimal support breaks it so well done

Vote tally
Mega Scizor + Gastrodon 0
Volcarona 4
reuniclus 0
Mega Charizard X 3

Since we got a request for stall. Stall we shall have and it features my old hated nemesis Mega Sableye. Much has changed since Zygarde got banned and stall nolonger needing to worry about one its former breakers has been to take on more options like Zapdos. This team functions more passivly then many modern stall teams but still has options to do some dmg when it needs to.

Explanation: Being stall based the team doesn't centre around any particular pokemon but instead predicting the right pokemon for the right moment. Sableye is the teams mega pokemon and primary knock off Absorber doubling as a lead thanks to magic bounce and knock when needed. Chansey needs no explanation. Tangrowth Serves as the predominant answer the likes of SD Garchomp and Lando while quagsire stops most other physical set up sweepers not named Mega Gyarados in there tracks. Mew no longer needing to beat zygarde is free to take on special attackers like heatran and Tapu Koko while checking magerna. Zapdos rounds out the team being the main defoger and a general check to steels like scizor.

Overall the team has fairly decent match up against common pokemon but on paper anyway hates the likes of Tapu Lele and Gengar.

Thats the team. I wish you all good-luck this week breaking the team. Happy nominations

Ability: Magic Guard
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 212 Def / 44 Spe
Bold Nature

- Energy Ball
- Recover

Reuniclus just can come in on every mon in the team, proceed to set up and then knocks the shit out of this team. Energy Ball means that Quagsire and M-Sableye aren't issues for Reuniclus. Additionally, running ZPsychic gives Reuniclus easier time vs M-Sableye, reducing Knock Off's damage.

Tapu Lele @ Psychium Z
Ability: Psychic Surge
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Psyshock
- Moonblast
- Calm Mind
- Hidden Power Fire

Click CM at the right time (usually against Zapdos) or when the opposing Pokémon is going to heal himself, and then just spam either Psyshock or Moonblast.

+1 252 SpA Tapu Lele Moonblast vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Zapdos: 253-298 (65.8 - 77.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

+1 252 SpA Tapu Lele Shattered Psyche (160 BP) vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Zapdos in Psychic Terrain: 639-753 (166.4 - 196%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Leftovers recovery

+1 252 SpA Tapu Lele Moonblast vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Tangrowth: 403-475 (99.7 - 117.5%) -- 93.8% chance to OHKO after Leftovers recovery

+1 252 SpA Tapu Lele Moonblast vs. 80 HP / 224 SpD Mew: 189-223 (52.3 - 61.7%) -- 98% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
You can setup another CM on him or Spam Moonblast, It's not dangerous because you outspeed it and he doesn't do too much damages in return.

+1 252 SpA Tapu Lele Shattered Psyche (160 BP) vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Unaware Quagsire in Psychic Terrain: 553-652 (140.3 - 165.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Leftovers recovery

+1 252 SpA Tapu Lele Moonblast vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Unaware Quagsire: 220-259 (55.8 - 65.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

+1 252 SpA Tapu Lele Psyshock vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Eviolite Chansey in Psychic Terrain: 390-460 (55.4 - 65.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

CM Pain Split Magearna

Magearna @ Fairium Z
Ability: Soul-Heart
EVs: 248 HP / 28 Def / 224 SpA / 8 SpD
Modest Nature
- Calm Mind
- Pain Split
- Fleur Cannon
- Energy Ball / Thunderbolt

Calm Mind allows Magearna to setup and break past all the opposing Pokémon. Pain Split allows it to get back health when it gets low, easing setup and allowing it to beat Chansey. Soul-Heart makes Magearna snowball into a huge threat and allows it to fire off strong even non-Z Fleur Cannons with relatively little drawback. Thunderbolt is the more common option but Energy Ball eases the matchup against Quagsire.

Mew and Zapdos are the only ones posing some kind of threat but if they're weakened or taken down before Magearna comes in it should be a clean sweep.

Calcs to OHKO every Pokémon:
M-Sableye: 224+ SpA Magearna Fleur Cannon vs. 252 HP / 248+ SpD Sableye-Mega: 302-356 (99.3 - 117.1%) -- 93.8% chance to OHKO
Chansey (Pain Split allows you to setup freely): +6 224+ SpA Magearna Twinkle Tackle (195 BP) vs. 248 HP / 8 SpD Eviolite Chansey: 870-1024 (123.7 - 145.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO OR +6 224+ SpA Magearna Fleur Cannon vs. 248 HP / 8 SpD Eviolite Chansey: 580-684 (82.5 - 97.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
Tangrowth: 224+ SpA Magearna Fleur Cannon vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Tangrowth: 394-465 (97.5 - 115%) -- 81.3% chance to OHKO after Leftovers recovery
Quagsire: 224+ SpA Magearna Energy Ball vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Quagsire: 600-708 (152.2 - 179.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO
Mew: +1 224+ SpA Magearna Twinkle Tackle (195 BP) vs. 80 HP / 244 SpD Mew: 408-481 (113 - 133.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Leftovers recovery OR +2 224+ SpA Magearna Fleur Cannon vs. 80 HP / 244 SpD Mew: 364-429 (100.8 - 118.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO
Zapdos: 224+ SpA Magearna Twinkle Tackle (195 BP) vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Zapdos: 373-441 (97.1 - 114.8%) -- 81.3% chance to OHKO after Leftovers recovery OR +1 224+ SpA Magearna Fleur Cannon vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Zapdos: 373-439 (97.1 - 114.3%) -- 81.3% chance to OHKO after Leftovers recovery

Sub Heracross Méga

Heracross-Mega @ Heracronite
Ability: Skill Link
EVs: 16 HP / 252 Atk / 240 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Substitute
- Close Combat
- Rock Blast
- Pin Missile

to begin, I'm gonna quote the builder of that stall: "FUCK. Just pivot and pray." The thing is chansey, tangrowth and zap might be able to break a sub but they either get ohko or die with minimal chip(zapdos). Speed is for zapper that are Ev'd to outpace max speed ttar since it could be annoying to be slower than them.

252+ Atk Heracross-Mega Pin Missile (5 hits) vs. 248 HP / 8 Def Sableye-Mega: 245-290 (80.8 - 95.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ Atk Heracross-Mega Rock Blast (5 hits) vs. 248 HP / 8 Def Sableye-Mega: 165-195 (54.4 - 64.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
0 Atk Sableye-Mega Knock Off vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Heracross-Mega: 27-33 (8.9 - 10.9%) -- possibly the worst move ever

252+ Atk Heracross-Mega Close Combat vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Eviolite Chansey: 746-878 (106.1 - 124.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ Atk Heracross-Mega Pin Missile (5 hits) vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Eviolite Chansey: 390-465 (55.4 - 66.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
Chansey Seismic Toss vs. 0 HP Heracross-Mega: 100-100 (33.2 - 33.2%) -- guaranteed 4HKO

252+ Atk Heracross-Mega Pin Missile (5 hits) vs. 248 HP / 212+ Def Tangrowth: 390-460 (96.7 - 114.1%) -- approx. 87.5% chance to OHKO after Leftovers recovery
0 SpA Tangrowth Hidden Power Fire vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Heracross-Mega: 90-108 (29.9 - 35.8%) -- 31.9% chance to 3HKO

252+ Atk Heracross-Mega Pin Missile (5 hits) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Quagsire: 240-285 (60.9 - 72.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
252+ Atk Heracross-Mega Close Combat vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Quagsire: 225-265 (57.1 - 67.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
0 SpA Quagsire Scald vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Heracross-Mega: 58-70 (19.2 - 23.2%) -- possible 5HKO

252+ Atk Heracross-Mega Pin Missile (5 hits) vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Mew: 580-700 (143.5 - 173.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Leftovers recovery
252+ Atk Heracross-Mega Rock Blast (5 hits) vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Mew: 195-235 (48.2 - 58.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery
0 Atk Mew Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Heracross-Mega: 32-38 (10.6 - 12.6%) -- possible 8HKO

252+ Atk Heracross-Mega Rock Blast (5 hits) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Zapdos: 320-380 (83.3 - 98.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery
252+ Atk Heracross-Mega Pin Missile (5 hits) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Zapdos: 120-140 (31.2 - 36.4%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery
0 SpA Zapdos Thunderbolt vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Heracross-Mega: 112-133 (37.2 - 44.1%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

The two main issue for hera are mew if no sub up since it can burn you and zapdos that can take a hit and break the sub if he is full. Notice that pin missile is a 2hko on anything not named zapdos, so you can't pivot around, this for your zapper to break the sub and let mew burn hera, you need zap to be healthy enough which is not the case after a pin missile.Basically the best target to sub up is Mega sableye, chansey is not as safe, but people will rarelly stay if sub isn't revealed yet.

Edit: I believe, despite maybe not being the most common hera set, which is already not that common, it's the best against stalls, and can still be usefull in other match ups. If the host think it's not a viable set, then mb.

Gyarados @ Gyaradosite
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spe / 4 Def
Jolly Nature
- Crunch
- Waterfall / Earthquake
- Dragon Dance
- Taunt

While Tangrowth is irritating, Mold Breaker Taunt is every Mega Sableye team's worst nightmare, and this one in particular is full of setup opportunities (as long as you delay MEvolving against Tangrowth, everything but Zapdos lets this guy boost to +2). Even if MegaDos doesn't sweep, it'll still smash open this team more than enough for its teammates to clean up.

Ok I know what you’re thinking “b-but there is a Chansey and two Toxic users on the team! How does Volc beat it?” Well you see its very simple. Most of this team despises facing NM+Taunt Fini barring Zapdos and Tangrowth, but those are mons that Volc uses as setup fodder, especially since it avoids status thanks to Misty Terrain. Because this Chansey forgoes Toxic, Volc can beat outside of Misty Terrain as well. Oh and Quagsire just doesnt eat stuff after taking a bugz. Overall the team has to play very smart in order to keep Volc from setting up under Misty Terrain, thus making it a good way to break this stall.

Kartana @ Normalium Z
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
-Swords Dance
-Leaf Blade
-Sacred Sword
-Giga Impact / Return

If either of Zapdos or Tangrowth get worn down via hazards or chip damage then SD Normalium Kartana runs straight through this team. It needs to SD on the switch to be able to win 1v1 of course.

Calcs:
+2 252 Atk Kartana Return vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Tangrowth: 176-208 (43.5 - 51.4%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
+2 252 Atk Kartana Breakneck Blitz (160 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Tangrowth: 276-325 (68.3 - 80.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
+2 252 Atk Kartana Breakneck Blitz (200 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Tangrowth: 345-406 (85.3 - 100.4%) -- 6.3% chance to OHKO after Leftovers recovery

+2 252 Atk Kartana Return vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Zapdos: 228-269 (59.3 - 70%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
+2 252 Atk Kartana Breakneck Blitz (160 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Zapdos: 358-422 (93.2 - 109.8%) -- 62.5% chance to OHKO after Leftovers recovery
+2 252 Atk Kartana Giga Impact vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Zapdos: 335-395 (87.2 - 102.8%) -- 18.8% chance to OHKO after Leftovers recovery

Weavile @ Choice Band
Ability: Pickpocket
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Knock Off
- Icicle Crash
- Ice Shard
- Pursuit

Chansey can't 1v1 after a knock off, and Icicle Crash has flinch potential to stop a heal/seismic toss
252 SpA Magearna Twinkle Tackle (195 BP) vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Quagsire: 450-531 (114.2 - 134.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Leftovers recovery
252 SpA Magearna Fleur Cannon vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Sableye-Mega: 278-330 (91.4 - 108.5%) -- 50% chance to OHKO
252 SpA Magearna Fleur Cannon vs. 248 HP / 0 SpD Tangrowth: 369-435 (91.5 - 107.9%) -- 50% chance to OHKO after Leftovers recovery
+1 252 SpA Magearna Fleur Cannon vs. 248 HP / 0 SpD Zapdos: 348-409 (90.8 - 106.7%) -- 43.8% chance to OHKO after Leftovers recovery

0 Atk Mew Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Magearna: 128-152 (42.5 - 50.4%) -- 1.2% chance to 2HKO

252 Atk Choice Band Weavile Pursuit vs. 80 HP / 0 Def Mew: 372-438 (103 - 121.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO on switch
252 Atk Choice Band Weavile Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 80 HP / 0 Def Mew: 450-530 (124.6 - 146.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 Atk Choice Band Weavile Icicle Crash vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Chansey: 390-459 (55.4 - 65.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO (after a knock off)
0 SpA Tangrowth Giga Drain vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Weavile: 100-118 (35.5 - 41.9%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

The only way to beat this core would be burning Weavile really, rocks would hurt Weavile but if you play him right you'd only need a couple switch-ins. Mag switches in on Sableye without danger and doesn't care about Haze due to the Z-move OHKO. And, with rocks up, it can OHKO everything on the enemy team with Fleur Cannon.

Time for Nominations are over and now we begin the voting period. I hope everyone had a nice easter. I apoligize for setting up voting so late. I thought I'd posted it yesterday but actually forget to click post reply...... Anyway I'm really pleased with the nominations and with the exception of the surprisingly absent gengar all are solid choices. Without further ado heres the nominations

Nominations:
Reuniclus
Tapu Lele
Calm mind pain split magerna
Mega Heracross
Mega Gyarados
Tapu Fini + Volcarona
Kartana
Magerna + Weavile

You may vote for up to 2 Nominations and while its not mandatory some reasoning would be appreaciated. Goodluck everybody. The new team should go up in a few days

4 Days and no votes ;(. I guess I'll kick things off.

Tapu Lele - This pokemon be it Calm mind, Taunt and or Specs is an utter menace for stall teams and one wrong switch vs her often spells game. Her power even against chansey cant be understated
Mega Gyarados - Not as splashable as lele but Again it menaces stall and this team is little different needing Tangrowth to stay healthy not to auto lose as Mold Breaker turns quagsire into fodder. You take Tangrowth down you go to town
