Dugtrio @ Groundium Z
Ability: Arena Trap
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant / Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Screech
- Substitute
- Memento / Toxic
Dugtrio is capable of trapping and removing almost every single Xerneas check such as PDon, NDM, and Mage. If NDM is Ultra while it cannot kill it it can force the Burst which opens up for a Xern sweep. Cannot trap Ho-Oh which is annoying. Memento is also nice for letting Xern setup easier.

Wouldn't sucker punch fit better to revenge kill Ultra Necrozma?

Gyarados-Mega @ Gyaradosite
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Taunt
- Crunch
- Waterfall

Thanks to its amazing pre-mega typing Gyarados sets up on nearly every Geoxern revenge killer, including but not limited to: support DM, dual dance DM, Groudon lacking Rock Tomb, Mega Lucario, Mega Scizor, Aegislash (post mega), and Klefki (after Intimidate, Play Rough is a 3HKO on the mega forme). Although most of these Pokemon usually carry Toxic, it's able to avoid being statused thanks to Taunt. Its coverage lets it break through walls like Ho-Oh/Lugia that annoy Xerneas. In return, Xerneas finds setup opportunities on some of its revenge killers like Zygarde, Salamence, and defensive Yveltal, and appreciates it weakening Groudon/Magearna.

Gengar

Gengar @ Gengarite
Ability: Cursed Body
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Shadow Ball
- Sludge Wave
- Icy Wind / Destiny Bond
- Thunder

So Gengar takes every almost every Xern check, offensive or defensive, and traps them. From there, it chips them down with repeated Shadow Balls and Thunders in Ho-oh’s case. While it won’t eliminate the Xern check, it will often put it in range of a +2 Moonblast or coverage move. If worst comes to worst, Gengar can trade with something on the opposition with Destiny Bond, opening up a Xern sweep.

Naganadel @ Dragonium Z
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Sludge Wave
- Nasty Plot
- Fire Blast

Naganadel + GeoXern is a great offensive combo. They weaken each other's checks and can even allow the other to pull off a clean sweep. Really good against Balance and Bulky Offense. A staple offense team featuring Primal Groudon/Xerneas/Naganadel/Dusk Mane Necrozma/Arceus/Yveltal where Dusk Mane Necrozma is Weakness Policy, Arceus is an Extreme Killer variant, and Yveltal is Scarfed, is good enough to beat almost any build if piloted correctly.

Marshadow @ Life Orb
Ability:Technician
Evs: 252 Atk/4 Sp.Atk/252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Shadow Sneak
- Spectral Thief
- Close Combat
- Rock Tomb/Bulk up/Hidden Power Ice

The deer appreciates Marshadow taking out Necro-DM and Necro-Ultra for him while Marshadow appreciates Xerneas taking out Zygarde and Yvetal while providing Marshadow a tool it otherwise needs i.e liberating it from needing HP Ice and can run Rock Tomb to allow it to lure Ho-oh for Xerneas allowing it to lure common checks.

Necrozma-Dusk-Mane @ Ultranecrozium Z
Ability: Prism Armor
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Sunsteel Strike
- Earthquake
- Swords Dance
- Photon Geyser

It doesn't need this set to be effective with Xerneas, but this is one of the ways it can take on several roles at once to give the Xerneas freedom to use the Geomancy set. Xerneas going to have an easier time engaging and weakening an opposing Groudon or Dusk Mane than this will (Xerneas' sets are far more predictable than Necrozma), but this can happen in reverse order. As a Dusk Mane, Necrozma tends to bring in Yveltal, Groudon, Kyogre, and in fringe cases both formes of Giratina and can buy Xerneas Moonblast opportunities to weaken its common checks and counters, or a Groudon that has been hit by a Neuroforce Earthquake. Necrozma can bring in other Necrozma as well but the exchange is generally pretty messy depending on speed ties, moves, and who bursts / doesn't burst. If Necrozma does get an opposing DM to burst or weakens it severely, it is usually a net positive for the Xerneas player. A Magearna that Xerneas brings in can buy Necrozma a Swords Dance and all the trouble it can cause with said Swords Dance, but this is harder to line up safely given what Xerneas checks. A team does need a backstop of ground immune + Arceus or at least one of the two when using this combo thanks to Groudon, but teams generally want these two traits anyways.

Yveltal @ Life Orb
Ability: Dark Aura
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Mild Nature
- Dark Pulse
- Oblivion Wing
- Heat Wave
- Sucker Punch

Yveltal is a great partner or if not one of the classic core since back in the 6th gen. Yveltal is able to threaten a variety of Xerneas checks like Primal Groudon and Dusk Mane Necrozma and is usually used in early to mid game in order to wall-break the opposing team to pave a way for Xerneas to clean late game. This LO set is equipped with Heat Wave because both of the said mons in the pairings is checked my Magearna - Heat Wave lures Magearna during switch in which puts its in range where it dies to +2 Focus Blast from Xern:

- 252+ SpA Life Orb Yveltal Heat Wave vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Magearna: 195-231 (53.5 - 63.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
- +2 252+ SpA Xerneas Focus Blast vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Magearna: 189-223 (51.9 - 61.2%) -- 96.1% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

Even w/o Heat Wave, Yveltal is still a great partner for Xerneas as they are often paired together in teams from ladder and tours in the current state of the metagame.

I'm going to vote Chessking345's Dugtrio because its broken trapping ability + Memento support.
Imma vote Diglett senior

damn poor mgyara got excluded

I feel like most of these noms are more common ho mons than specific synergy with geoxern as a core, which is okay cause these mons share a team often for less direct reasons. For example, the two ghosts are a bit limited in what they offer Xerneas but they do provide ur team with the ability to rk mons like ultra so u don’t feel bad going GeoXern over Scarf.

Dugtrio and Mgyara are both interesting as a core idea for the reasons specified. They are kinda niche concepts but GeoXern is feeling kinda niche in this meta rn imo.

Ygod to me is probs the best choice for a classic core cause you get that juicy overlap on Magearna! Sucker and typing helps with Ultra, too. Dusk builds, though, are where the team gets less effective. You lose the overlap and if it’s a SpDef Dusk, you are basically out on a wincon. Even vs TR dusk, ygod won’t exactly invite opportunities for ur geoxern to abuse extra free turns with which to moonblast chip the dusk.

I guess I should have made a nom myself but I think a Spikes setter would have been a cool pick.

Anyways, imma vote Mgyara just cause I like the mon and I think the synergies bigtalk hl’d can make for an interesting team design.

Congratulations to @ banned deucer :psynervous: ! Ok so Naganadel will be put in the archive but because a banned user won I'm going to also archive Chessking345 and add it to the HoF, Gratz!

Zekrom @ Dragonium Z

Kyogre-Primal @ Blue Orb
Ability: Primordial Sea
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
-Origin Pulse
-Calm Mind
-Thunder
-Ice Beam

  • At first glance, it may seem as though this stacks a weakness to Primal Groudon, when in reality it does the opposite.
  • The above Zekrom set is fantastic as a lure to Primal Groudon, acting as a way of blowing back even defensive support Primal Groudons with Devastating Drake after but one boost, making that Zekrom set a convincing Pdon check.
    +1 252+ Atk Teravolt Zekrom Devastating Drake (190 BP) vs. 252 HP / 56+ Def Groudon-Primal: 330-388 (81.6 - 96%) -- 56.3% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock
    +1 252+ Atk Teravolt Zekrom Devastating Drake (190 BP) vs. 144 HP / 0 Def Groudon-Primal: 376-444 (99.7 - 117.7%) -- 93.8% chance to OHKO
  • There are no pokemon that enjoy a crippled or dead Primal Groudon more than its rival Kyogre. With Pdon dead, Pkyo gets the chance to start seriously poking holes in the enemies team, allowing it to click origin pulse with little to no switch ins willing to take it in the tier. Some of the most popular swap ins (such as Arceus water, Giratina-o) do not enjoy taking a +1 origin pulse and are then checked by Kyogres coverage moves.
    +1 252+ SpA Kyogre-Primal Origin Pulse vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Arceus-Water in Heavy Rain: 243-286 (54.7 - 64.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
    +1 252+ SpA Kyogre-Primal Thunder vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Arceus-Water: 432-510 (97.2 - 114.8%) -- 81.3% chance to OHKO
    +1 252+ SpA Kyogre-Primal Origin Pulse vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Giratina-Origin in Heavy Rain: 282-333 (63.9 - 75.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
    +1 252+ SpA Kyogre-Primal Ice Beam vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Giratina-Origin: 412-486 (93.4 - 110.2%) -- 62.5% chance to OHKO
  • To top all of this off, Zekrom is able to consistently lure support Arceus-Ground as well as faster dragon types, who are able to be lightly checked by this Kyogre set, since Kyogre happily OHKOs all variants of Arceus-Ground with an unboosted Origin Pulse and Rayquaza/Salamence with an unboosted Ice Beam, while being able to consistently force them out allowing for Kyogre to set up Calm Mind.
    252+ SpA Kyogre-Primal Origin Pulse vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Arceus-Ground in Heavy Rain: 648-764 (145.9 - 172%) -- guaranteed OHKO
    0 SpA Earth Plate Arceus-Ground Judgment vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Kyogre-Primal: 100-118 (29.3 - 34.6%) -- 7.3% chance to 3HKO
    252+ SpA Kyogre-Primal Ice Beam vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Rayquaza: 600-708 (170.9 - 201.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO
    252+ SpA Kyogre-Primal Ice Beam vs. 44 HP / 0 SpD Salamence-Mega: 604-712 (176.6 - 208.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO
  • While Kyogre doesn't assist Zekrom with its game plan nearly as much as vice versa, Zekrom's role as a wallbreaker in the current metagame means that any hole it can punch in the opposing team can immediately allow Kyogre to become an offensive powerhouse, shut down by nothing, poking holes in the opponent for faster threats to clean up afterward.

EDIT: I realized this late after writing this post that if you bring in Primal Kyogre before Zekrom and they hard swap into Primal Groudon, Kyogre's ice beam always puts PDon in range of +1 devastating drake even without rocks
252+ SpA Kyogre-Primal Ice Beam vs. 252 HP / 200 SpD Groudon-Primal: 123-145 (30.4 - 35.8%) -- 41.8% chance to 3HKO
+1 252+ Atk Teravolt Zekrom Devastating Drake (190 BP) vs. 252 HP / 56+ Def Groudon-Primal: 330-388 (81.6 - 96%) -- guaranteed OHKO at 70.4%

Ho-Oh @ Life Orb
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 104 HP / 252 Atk / 152 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Sacred Fire
- Brave Bird
- Recover
- Toxic

Ho-oh is a nice partner for Zekrom. Ho-oh’s powerful Brave Bird as well as Toxic puts pressure on PDon and Arc-Ground, as they struggle with +1 Devastating Drake after eating a Brave Bird. Ho-oh also keeps mons like Xerneas, Ferrothorn and Arceus-Fairy at bay, letting Zek not be punished from Outrage/DD. Checking Marshadow is also very nice, because no one wants to stare down a +1 Marsh. In return, Zekrom eats all the bulky Waters and Dragons that eat Sacred Fire, capitalizes on Lugia and Gira-A that PP stall Ho-oh and checks Megamence. All in all, a nice offensive core.

With Pdon dead, what's stopping this monster from murdering teams? Serves as a revenge killer and a cleanup mon.

Necrozma-Dusk Mane @ Leftovers
Ability: Prism Armor
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Stealth Rock / Swords Dance
- Toxic
- Sunsteel Strike
- Morning Sun

Support Dusk Mane is an excellent partner thanks to its ability to come in on many of the Pokemon that threaten Zekrom, which include Xerneas, Arceus-Fairy, Arceus-Dragon, Mega Diancie, Deoxys-A, and Magearna. It can also pivot into the rare Kyurem-W, but it needs to watch for Fusion Flare and Earth Power. Toxic is great on this mon as it tends to lure in Primal Groudon, and getting that mon whittled down will eventually put it in range of Zekrom's Devastating Drake.

Meanwhile, Dusk Mane appreciates Zekrom's ability to take on Yveltal, Celesteela, Ho-Oh, Primal Kyogre, Zygarde-C (requires +1 Devastating Drake, though), Refresh Arceus-Flying, Skarmory, Toxapex, and Mega Salamence.

Zygarde @ Eject Button
Ability: Power Construct
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Impish Nature
- Rest
- Toxic/Sleep Talk
- Thousand Arrows
- Dragon Tail

You might be asking: what is this? Essentially it's a defensive Zygarde with Eject Button which has the role to be a safe switch in on Primal Groudon when one is pressuring with Zekrom. If the enemy decides to attack Zekrom and you switch into this Zygarde, you will gain a free Dugtrio switch in and thus will likely kill the Pdon.

You can choose Toxic if you want to cripple other mons or Sleep Talk if your team is stall based and thus doesn't need more Toxic users.
The rest of the set is basically just defensive Zygarde.

My vote is going to zman11335 cool submission
