[Uber] Burn Baby Burn (now with dual commentary from Hack!)

http://pokemonshowdown.com/replay/pokebankubersbeta-60543224

YOU GUYS READY TO THROW DOWN. THIS IS SUPERSTAR. ITS TIME TO READ ABOUT SO SMOKING HOT UBER ACTION. ALSO THIS IS THE FIRST UBER WARSTORY OF THIS GEN. ALSO IT ISNT ONE SIDED LIKE EVERY OTHER WARSTORY POSTED SO FAR.

This battle takes place in the "Pokebank Ubers" Tier because XY Ubers Standard has like 10 mons in it.

I have a Biochem test tomorrow and I naturally decided to procrastinate by writing a warstory of a pretty fun battle I had on the ladder. Beats memorizing 20 more metabolic enzymes.

Although I don't know it at the time, Gengar<<<3 is actually an alt of well-know Uber's player Hack! He only told me afterwards, so I edited this post to add some comments from him.

My comments are in Black, his are in Red

superstar's team:
Dialga / Kangaskhan / Rayquaza / Arceus-* / Aegislash / Giratina-Origin

Gengar<333's team:
Mewtwo / Yveltal / Arceus-* / Groudon / Xerneas / Ho-Oh

upload_2013-11-5_22-18-23.png

His team is bulky offense, just like mine is. His sets seem to be predictable -- Yvetal is probably either the bulky attacker or ToxicRoost set. Ho-oh is most likely Sub, and he probably is using that terrible Mewtwo-Y like every other ladderer. Since Arceus is probably a bulky Rock/Ghost/Water Defog user, Groudon is most likely offensive with an Earth Plate set. Xerneas is Geomancy, obviously. Easy to deal with.

My team utilizes a few underrated/unusual sets and mons. I have the standard Arceus-Rock set. Giratina-O has an odd Defog set. Kangaskhan is an all-out attacker and revenge killer, and Aegislash is an all-out Spooky Plate attacker. Rayquaza is SD to break stall and clean up late game.

Okay, great. A battle against my boy Superstar, who is a good player. He doesn't know I'm under an alt, though. Interesting team to be honest, I hope it's not a shitty SD Aegislash, it probably is a Toxic or Rock Sliding one with Gyro Ball to eat Xerneas alive. Speaking of Xerneas, I run a scarfed one which he probably does not expect. It's still walled by Aegislash, however. He also got a Dialga with SR, obviously. A mega-Kanga is cool, and really troublesome for my team, since my Groudon isn't that bulky and I run no Steels or Ghosts or anything to check it really. Fuck. Well, this is what happens early in a generation, your teams get really flawed in some way most of the time. Rayquaza+Giratina-O are two mons you don't see that often in XY, and I am unsure what Rayquaza does here except packing priority. Giratina-O might have Defog+Will o wisp, or it might be the Arceus that has Defog. Speaking of Arceus, it is probably Rock due to his hilariously Yveltal (and to some extent Ho-oh) weak team otherwise. He is still quite weak to Yveltal, so that's a key player to me winning this game, as well as a lategame scarf Xerneas sweep if I can remove Aegislash. My bet should be to pressure his checks to Ho-oh+Yveltal and try to bust through with Xerneas.

I decide to lead with Kangaskhan, because it matches up well against Gengar's whole team.
By process of elimination I choose Groudon as my lead. I can confidently step up with an Earth Plate Earthquake and it does reasonably well against Kanga. Ps.In retrospect I should have probably played a little different as he was expecting a ladder newby.

Battle between Gengar<333 and superstar started!
Gengar<333 sent out Groudon!
Go! Kangaskhan!
The sunlight turned harsh!
Turn 1
Kangaskhan has Mega Evolved into Mega Kangaskhan!
Kangaskhan used Fake Out!
The foe's Groudon lost 16% of its health!
The foe's Groudon lost 8% of its health!
Hit 2 time(s)!
The foe's Groudon flinched and couldn't move!
I use the no-risk Fake Out to scout for damage and find out Groudon's moveset. No leftovers mean that it is probably Earth Plate. A quick calc reveals that it fails to OHKO me no matter what it does, so I go for a Crunch to try to grab a defense drop (31% chance) and force it out while it presumably sets up SR. Even if it uses EQ, I can survive.

Okay, he is packing Fake Out, meaning no sub or anything most likely. There isn't much to say other than that Fake Out REALLY hurt so he must be adamant (calced and yes). I can now outspeed and Earthquake.

Turn 2
The foe's Groudon used Earthquake!
Kangaskhan lost 71.2% of its health!
Kangaskhan used Crunch!
The foe's Groudon lost 23% of its health!
The foe's Groudon lost 11% of its health!
The foe's Groudon's Defense fell!
Hit 2 time(s)!
I instantly regret giving my Kangaskhan an Adamant nature as he reveals that he is Jolly Max Speed and is indeed Earth Plate. Luckily for me, however, I get the defense drop, so I can use Sucker Punch and KO him.

Good damage, he predicts something I don't even know. Maybe Ghostceus but I honestly don't know why he didn't just return the shit out of me. He gets a defense drop which kinda matters cause I can't hope to live the Sucker Punch now.

Turn 3
Gengar<333 withdrew Groudon!
Gengar<333 sent out Xerneas!
Kangaskhan used Sucker Punch!
But it failed!
He predicts this and switches in his Xerneas. 9 times out of 10, when you see a Xerneas on the ladder in this situation they will go for the Geomancy. Let me state up front that the Geomancy set is terrible early game -- it's so tragic that breast cancer walks to end it. I click Return to deal hefty damage before planning to retreat to Aegislash.

I predict the obvious Sucker Punch and go into Xerneas... Which is my first VERY subtle misplay, and if you realize why, then you are obviously a decent player. My explanation is that I don't think enough when I ladder. This is a really poor play due to me having a perfect chance to bring in my Yveltal for free and harass his team. I am +speed nature so I outspeed Kanga. This is probably the biggest misplay any of us made in the game, because a switch to Yveltal would put him in deep.

Anyway, realizing my mistake- I need to sharpen up my game. He is obviously not going to stay in against a Xerneas who has really no way of wearing down Aegislash anyway. He shouldn't be afraid of going into it and playing accordingly. I mean even if I succeed with a double switch to Ho-oh he probably has Arceus-Rock.

Turn 4
Gengar<333 withdrew Xerneas!
Gengar<333 sent out Ho-Oh!
Kangaskhan used Return!
The foe's Ho-Oh lost 49% of its health!
The foe's Ho-Oh lost 24% of its health!
Hit 2 time(s)!
Hmmm. It appears that this guy is smarter than the usual ladderer. He obviously predicted an Aegislash switch-in. I take note of this and mentally prepare myself for a more difficult match. I almost certainly outspeed Ho-Oh, and he has no Ghosts or even Normal resists. No downside to firing off another Return.

And fuck my life. This combined with that misplay by brining in Xerneas decreases my winning chances drastically. Okay, gotta switch to Yveltal and Sucker Punch him dead.

Turn 5
Gengar<333: wut
Gengar<333: god that owned me
Gengar<333 withdrew Ho-Oh!
Gengar<333 sent out Yveltal!
Kangaskhan used Return!
The foe's Yveltal lost 54% of its health!
The foe's Yveltal lost 30% of its health!
Hit 2 time(s)!
The sunlight faded.
Another player realizes, to their horror, that Kangaskhan hits harder than a double dose of meth. Yveltal, or Yveltalus Godamongus to use its scientific name, is a versitle motherfucker. For him to switch it in here, it obviously is going to Sucker Punch, so I switch to a counter accordingly.

And there goes my win-condition. Playing really bad at the moment, I should probably advise all players that aren't very experienced that you should learn from these subtle mistakes. The real mistake was bringing in Xerneas instead of Yveltal. Please remember that.

Turn 6
Kangaskhan, come back!
Go! Arceus-Rock!
The foe's Yveltal used Sucker Punch!
But it failed!
Finding out his move was as suspensful as finding out what religion the Pope practices. He can't leave Yveltal in for what I hope are obvious reasons, and if you don't understand why he can't switch Ho-Oh in stop reading now. So I go for a Will-O-Wisp to cripple whatever he switches in.

He goes into the expected Arceus-Rock. My own Arceus-Water should handle that pretty well even though catching a Will-o-wisp stinks.

Turn 7
Gengar<333 withdrew Yveltal!
Gengar<333 sent out Arceus-Water!
Arceus-Rock used Will-O-Wisp!
The foe's Arceus-Water was burned!
The foe's Arceus-Water was hurt by its burn!
He hard switches and reveals his Arceus forme. Probably a bulky Defog set, like I said. Arceus-Water gets a burn for his troubles that will come in handy to sap his HP. He will probably go for a Judgement or maybe a WoW of his own here, so I switch to my Dialga which can take any attack without much difficulty.

Burn baby burn. At least I can regain momentum from here. His switch into Dialga is obvious and I will therefore go for the double switch into my Groudon.

Turn 8
Gengar<333 withdrew Arceus-Water!
Gengar<333 sent out Groudon!
The sunlight turned harsh!
Arceus-Rock, come back!
Go! Dialga!
Dialga is exerting its pressure!
He does a clever double switch. My esteem for the opponent is rising, along with my penis. It's weird. Giratina-O can take literally any attack that Groudon throws at it, as well as Defog its hazards, so that's the best choice.

Plan works out, but I must Earthquake here as he can just Defog those hazards away easily. I need to start dealing damage to his mons soon though...

Turn 9
Dialga, come back!
Go! Giratina-Origin!
The foe's Groudon used Earthquake!
It doesn't affect Giratina-Origin...
And bam, Gira-O is in safely. I run a more supportive set. I decide to go for the Draco Meteor to try to nail Groudon.

He could Will-o-Wisp. I go to Xerneas to regain momentum once again.

Turn 10
Gengar<333 withdrew Groudon!
Gengar<333 sent out Xerneas!
Giratina-Origin used Draco Meteor!
It doesn't affect the foe's Xerneas...
Bad call, as it turned out. I'm now in a bad spot. He has two possibilities here. One, he sets up Geomancy. Two, he fires off a Moonblast. Three, he predicts that I predict the former two and double switches to Ho-oh. Roaring gives me a 2/3 chance of coming out on top so I go for that.

And he reveals Draco Meteor, telling me its a mixed set most likely. Now, he still has that Aegislash and he should really just go into it, because he has that Arceus-Rock that can handle ho-oh just fine. It's a safe play for me to double switch into Ho-oh, try to get a burn on Arceus-Rock as he switches out the Aegislash he just switched in. Right? However...

Turn 11
Gengar<333 withdrew Xerneas!
Gengar<333 sent out Ho-Oh!
Giratina-Origin used Roar!
Arceus-Water was dragged out!
The foe's Arceus-Water was hurt by its burn!
He decided to switch to Ho-Oh, and Arceus-Water comes out. I resist everything he does, so lets try to Draco Meteor again.

I mean c'mon Superstar. You probably have some reasons but Aegislash has nothing to fear from Xerneas and Arceus-Rock can reliably check Ho-oh. Why would you want to throw you EQ immunity and Mega Mewtwo X check so early? I really can't understand that logic as you had a complete safe play man. On top of that Arceus-Water gets dragged out. I need to reach with something to turn this game around. Since my switch to Ho-oh or Xerneas predicting his Dialga is quite obvious I go for the huge overprediction and I will switch to Mewtwo to Mega Evolve and Taunt his Arceus-Rock that he switches in to predict my Ho-oh switch (or to Drain Punch his Dialga that he switches in on the Waterceus). This was a really bad play, and a long-shot.

Turn 12
Gengar<333 withdrew Arceus-Water!
Gengar<333 sent out Mewtwo!
The foe's Mewtwo is exerting its pressure!
Giratina-Origin used Draco Meteor!
The foe's Mewtwo avoided the attack!
The sunlight faded.
Well, a bit of hax here. I probably could have killed Mewtwo with a combo of Draco Meteor and Shadow Sneak, so its a shame that it missed. Two of the next plays are somewhat boneheaded. I Draco Meteor even though the incoming Xerneas switch-in is obvious. At the time, I just really want to kill Mewtwo.

And he could have raped me. I get lucky. I don't deserve that. You can question that very illogical play with Giratina-O and maybe the one with Kanga, but he got the calls right and doesn't deserve this. I will just go back into Xerneas and it will probably accomplish nothing.

Turn 13
Gengar<333 withdrew Mewtwo!
Gengar<333 sent out Xerneas!
Giratina-Origin used Draco Meteor!
It doesn't affect the foe's Xerneas...
I pretty much have to switch to Aegislash here, the risk of a Moonblast is very high.

Turn 14
Gengar<333 withdrew Xerneas!
Gengar<333 sent out Ho-Oh!
Giratina-Origin, come back!
Go! Aegislash!
And he double switches to Ho-oh. I don't know why, but I make a terrible play here. Actually,I do know why. My idiot roommate's girlfriend decided that she was on friggin' Master Chef and was trying to cook a cake or some shit in my room while I was being about 10x cooler and playing Pokemon online. She forgot about it, of course. I nearly time out while simultaneously trying to put out the fire she started and blow smoke away from the sprinkler, all while screaming that she shouldn't look at my computer unless she wants to see hardcore porn. Because that was less embarrassing than the truth.

Anyway, for some reason I think that Sacred Fire won't KO me with my 60/150 defenses, so I go for a Rock Slide to try and kill the bird instead of doing the smart thing and switching to Arceus-Rock. Ugh.

Finally I can do some damage to his team. I am Life Orbed so Sacred Fire kills. Let's just hope Arceus-Rock gets burnt.

Turn 15
The foe's Ho-Oh used Sacred Fire!
It's super effective! Aegislash lost 100% of its health!
The foe's Ho-Oh lost some of its HP!
Aegislash fainted!
Gengar<333: finally fucking something goes right
superstar: huh didn't think it would do that much lol
Go! Arceus-Rock!
I pay for my blunder by losing my Aegislash. Xerneas and Mewtwo are going to tear through my team like it's rice paper now. Hopefully I can find a way to come back with smart plays. I know he's doing to switch-out to probably Arceus-Water, so this is a great time to switch-in Kagaskhan and grab some free chip damage with Fake Out + Burn.

What. He just threw away a safe win. There was literally nothing I could do against Aegi+Rockceus after playing away my chances like an idiot. Anyway, he throws his Aegislash and I can possibly sweep with Xerneas now. He then goes into Arceus-Rock to regain momentum, which is expected.

Turn 16
kebabe joined.
Arceus-Rock, come back!
Go! Kangaskhan!
Gengar<333 withdrew Ho-Oh!
Gengar<333 sent out Arceus-Water!
The foe's Arceus-Water was hurt by its burn!
Like I predicted. A plan starts to form. If I can somehow weaken Mewtwo and Xerneas, I can still win with Arceus-Rock and his awesome bulk.

Kebabe joined. Fuck. Now my homeboy is gonna watch me get smashed, then complain about my shitty playing and probably like challenge me and beat me with a Delibird again. In Ubers. Yes it happened, we are done now. Anyway, while I go into Arceus-Water, he double switches nicely into Kanga to deal more damage with Fake Out+Burn. I will just take it like a man.

Turn 17
Kangaskhan used Fake Out!
The foe's Arceus-Water lost 13% of its health!
The foe's Arceus-Water lost 9% of its health!
Hit 2 time(s)!
The foe's Arceus-Water flinched and couldn't move!
The foe's Arceus-Water was hurt by its burn!
Just like planned, Arceus-Water is now down to low health, enough for anything to KO it. He can either recover or Judgement here. He really doesn't like having Kangaskhan in the match, so I decide he'll go for the Judgement. I don't want to risk a Wow, though, so I decide to switch to Giratina-O instead of Sucker Punching.
And I stand like a man and take it. Not much to say, sacking this. I could go for Will-o-Wisp here but for an inexplainable reason I forget he has Sucker Punch and I just go for the kill.

Turn 18
Kangaskhan, come back!
Go! Giratina-Origin!
The foe's Arceus-Water used Judgment!
It's not very effective... Giratina-Origin lost 19.7% of its health!
The foe's Arceus-Water was hurt by its burn!
With that, Arceus-Water is essentially sitting dead at 16% health. I decide to Shadow Sneak to finish it off.

He saves his mon, he knows Kanga is faster than some Pokes and Fake Out is always nice. I will just go into Ho-oh here because there is no need to let go off possible fodder yet.

Turn 19
Gengar<333 withdrew Arceus-Water!
Gengar<333 sent out Ho-Oh!
Giratina-Origin used Shadow Sneak!
The foe's Ho-Oh lost 22% of its health!
He wisely decides to save his Arceus for fodder and sends out Ho-oh. Well, once again Arceus-Rock is a great counter.

Good, let's burn that Arceus

Turn 20
Giratina-Origin, come back!
Go! Arceus-Rock!
The foe's Ho-Oh used Sacred Fire!
It's not very effective... Arceus-Rock lost 19.8% of its health!
Arceus-Rock was burned!
The foe's Ho-Oh lost some of its HP!
Arceus-Rock was hurt by its burn!
Unfortunately, his Sacred Fire burns me. I'm starting to get a bit low on health, but I really don't want to give something a free switch-in (i.e. give Arceus-Water a chance to recover) so I have to go for a Judgement here and hope I can Recover up on Ho-oh later.

Maybe I don't deserve this, but man the burn helps a lot. He will most likely Judgment here, so I decide to throw Waterceus.

Turn 21
Gengar<333 withdrew Ho-Oh!
Gengar<333 sent out Arceus-Water!
Arceus-Rock used Judgment!
The foe's Arceus-Water lost 16% of its health!
The foe's Arceus-Water fainted!
Arceus-Rock was hurt by its burn!
Gengar<333 sent out Mewtwo!
The foe's Mewtwo is exerting its pressure!
He was really hoping that I would go for that recover, but instead loses his Arceus, evening the score to 5-5.

As of now, the battle is fairly even. My biggest threat comes from Xerneas, which outspeeds my whole team even without setting up (unless it's Modest; then Kangaskhan beats it by a point) and I will be hard pressed to deal with it.To counteract that, his Groudon and Yvetal are essentially dead.

I go for Giratina-O, which can take most of Mewtwo's attacks; he probably won't go for Ice Beam.

I lose my Arceus as expected, but this gives me a chance to Mega evolve and maybe do some damage. I will taunt here just to play it safe. He should go to Giratina-O but after some of his plays he kinda got into my head and I don't dare any shenanigans now (like doubling into Xerneas which would p much win me the game).

Turn 22
Arceus-Rock, come back!
Go! Giratina-Origin!
Mewtwo has Mega Evolved into Mega Mewtwo-X!
The foe's Mewtwo used Taunt!
Giratina-Origin fell for the taunt!
Uh-fuckin'-oh. MegaTwoX is very dangerous right now. It can heavily threaten my team with its high-powered STABs. Luckily, Giratina-O can deal with it pretty well. I go for the Shadow Sneak; even if Ho-oh comes in I can easily counter it with Arceus-Rock

Here comes Giratina-O. It's just time for Ho-oh again. I have nothing to fear here so yeah. My plan is to get another bit of damage on his Arceus to get another switch into Mewtwo.

Turn 23
Gengar<333 withdrew Mewtwo!
Gengar<333 sent out Ho-Oh!
Giratina-Origin used Shadow Sneak!
The foe's Ho-Oh lost 22% of its health!
Ho-Oh comes in once again, and once again I switch to Arceus-Rock to counter it.

So I will just do what I said above.

Turn 24
Giratina-Origin, come back!
Go! Arceus-Rock!
The foe's Ho-Oh used Sacred Fire!
It's not very effective... Arceus-Rock lost 20.5% of its health!
The foe's Ho-Oh lost some of its HP!
Arceus-Rock was hurt by its burn!
I don't have a choice here. Arceus-Rock is very low on health. I need to recover to get him back to 50% so he can keep checking Ho-Oh.

He must recover, so I can go into Mewtwo, and this is where shit happens

Turn 25
Gengar<333 withdrew Ho-Oh!
Gengar<333 sent out Mewtwo!
Arceus-Rock used Recover!
Arceus-Rock regained health!
Arceus-Rock was hurt by its burn!
Once again Mewtwo comes in. This is a big turn. I think that he's going to try to setup a Bulk Up here, and this is a big opportunity to get off a burn on him and render him useless.

Recover as predicted. Time for Bulk Up

Turn 26
The foe's Mewtwo used Bulk Up!
The foe's Mewtwo's Attack rose!
The foe's Mewtwo's Defense rose!
Arceus-Rock used Will-O-Wisp!
The foe's Mewtwo avoided the attack!
Arceus-Rock was hurt by its burn!
Gengar<333: shit
superstar: yuss
superstar: no
Gengar<333: YES
superstar: :/
He realizes what I tried to do, and then realized that I missed :/. Will-O-Wisp is the worst. If you have 85% accuracy on an AP Test, you get a perfect score. If you use an 85% accuracy Pokemon move, God will always spit on you and make you miss. Bit of a difference there. Well, in to dodge the Drain Punch and get Giratna-O out. I'll have to tank the hit and Roar it out. Hopefully he doesn't just Psycho Cut.

Interestingly I got lucky again. I think his best play was not to attempt that still. My Ho-oh would pretty much win if he lets his Arceus take the Drain Punch, and I should probably have gone for that instead of misplaying as well. His switch to Giratina-O was the best play, because even if I did Bulk Up on the switch, he'd have a Draco+Sneak to beat me. And even though Giratina-O checks Groudon quite nicely, he has some fast mons and priority E-speed from Rayquaza to pick me off anyway. Anyway, I should probably not Psycho Cut even though he can't stay in. Taunt is an option but I really don't fear Giratina-O and therefore I will just go for the kill.

Turn 27
Arceus-Rock, come back!
Go! Giratina-Origin!
The foe's Mewtwo used Drain Punch!
It doesn't affect Giratina-Origin...
He switches into my Drain Punch, I'll try to get some damage on him with Psycho Cut, cause I'm pretty sure he will Roar as Draco Meteor would give Xerneas a chance to come in a wreck him.

Turn 28
The foe's Mewtwo used Psycho Cut!
Giratina-Origin lost 39.7% of its health!
Giratina-Origin used Roar!
Yveltal was dragged out!
I successfully tank the hit and Roar out Yveltal. This is another 50-50, but I don't have too much of a choice here. I can't afford to let Yveltal recover health with either Oblivion Wing or Roost because then Arceus-Rock will have to tank 2 attackers and it is too worn down and "burnt" out to do so. Shadow Sneak and hope for the best.

Yveltal gets dragged out, his Giratina is more useless to him than anything, so Sucker Punch is the best play here.

Turn 29
The foe's Yveltal used Sucker Punch!
It's super effective! Giratina-Origin lost 40.6% of its health!
The foe's Yveltal lost some of its HP!
Giratina-Origin fainted!
Go! Kangaskhan!
He followed my logic and made the correct play. I send in Kangaskhan for an easy revenge now.

And down goes that. Kanga comes in. It has to Fake Out. I will save Yveltal for death fodder, as Mewtwo-X doesn't take too much anyway.

Turn 30
Gengar<333 withdrew Yveltal!
Gengar<333 sent out Mewtwo!
Kangaskhan used Fake Out!
The foe's Mewtwo lost 22% of its health!
The foe's Mewtwo lost 11% of its health!
Hit 2 time(s)!
Incredibly, he still saves Yveltal and sends out Mewtwo. Saving his practically dead mons is proving to be a great strategy because he can sac them in the later game. This situation is another 50-50. I can KO with Sucker Punch, but I'm in trouble if he gets a Bulk Up off on that because I lose. So once again I don't really have a choice when weighing risk-reward. I have to go for a Return.

Going into Mewtwo leads me to a scenario where I can just kill Kanga or beat any switch. So I'll just Psycho Cut as he will stay in and prevent me from setting up.

Turn 31
The foe's Mewtwo used Psycho Cut!
Kangaskhan lost 28.8% of its health!
Kangaskhan fainted!
Go! Rayquaza!
The effects of weather disappeared. (placeholder)
At this stage, I have Rayquaza, a half-health burned Arceus-Rock, and a full health Dialga. He has Mewtwo-X in play, with a Yveltal only good for fodder, a full health Ho-oh, and a full health Xerneas on the sidelines.

And once again, he reads that I have no choice and kills me easily. I know that Rayquaza can survive an unboosted Psycho Cut, so I decide to send it in to set up a Swords Dance and OHKO him.

Ray comes in. I can't really switch, so I'll just get some damage on him first. I can take any single unboosted hit.

Turn 32
The foe's Mewtwo used Psycho Cut!
Rayquaza lost 54.7% of its health!
Rayquaza used Swords Dance!
Rayquaza's Attack sharply rose!
Well, he's got no choice here and I don't either (although, now that I think about it, he could have just sacced one of his low health mons i.e. Yvetal). Extremespeed.

Oh shit SD. This is where I make another utterly garbage play. My good play would be foddering off that useless Yveltal, but I am dumb and sack my Mewtwo which could have done serious damage instead. Ugh, I really should get a brain sometimes.

Turn 33
Rayquaza used ExtremeSpeed!
The foe's Mewtwo lost 67% of its health!
Rayquaza lost some of its HP!
The foe's Mewtwo fainted!
Gengar<333 sent out Xerneas!
Once again, Í have no choice.

Xerneas lives +2 E-speed, lgi Moonblast.

Turn 34
Rayquaza used ExtremeSpeed!
The foe's Xerneas lost 79% of its health!
Rayquaza lost some of its HP!
The foe's Xerneas used Moonblast!
It's super effective! Rayquaza lost 25.4% of its health!
Rayquaza fainted!
Go! Dialga!
Dialga is exerting its pressure!
I now have a 50% burned Arceus and a 100% Dialga. He has a 100% Ho-oh, a 40% Groudon, a 13% Xerneas and a 6% Yveltal.

Extremespeed does a heavy amount to Xerneas. Now, all of his mons will die from a Judgement except maybe Groudon. I run max speed Dialga so I outspeed (presumably) his whole team bar Xerneas. Fire Blast is my strongest move thanks to the sun boost. A Ho-Oh switchin just lets me recover with Rockceus

Down it goes and he is down to his last two. I must sack Yveltal at this stage, Xerneas is needed to outspeed a weakened Dialga as well as his Arceus-Rock.

Turn 35
The Immortal joined.
Gengar<333 withdrew Xerneas!
Gengar<333 sent out Yveltal!
Dialga used Fire Blast!
A critical hit! The foe's Yveltal lost 6% of its health!
The foe's Yveltal fainted!
Lol crit.
The Immortal left.
Gengar<333 sent out Groudon!
The sunlight turned harsh!
He's going to EQ. I know he's Jolly, but hopefully I can win the speed tie.

Go Groudon, EQ and win.

Turn 36
Dialga used Fire Blast!
The foe's Groudon lost 42% of its health!
The foe's Groudon fainted!
Gengar<333: ugh speed tie
Gengar<333 sent out Ho-Oh!
Haha! My best shot now is to switch in Arceus-Rock and fire off an attack. It looks like I've won.

Oh my god. He is actually Timid max speed and wins the tie. Now this game should be open for grabs. I send out Ho-oh to abuse the remaining sun-turns.

Turn 37
Dialga, come back!
Go! Arceus-Rock!
The foe's Ho-Oh used Sacred Fire!
It's not very effective... Arceus-Rock lost 27.3% of its health!
The foe's Ho-Oh lost some of its HP!
Arceus-Rock was hurt by its burn!
HO-OH. With that Life Orb equipped, he did just enough damage that I will die to a burn next turn. There are a few possibilities here. As long as he switches and runs enough speed to beat Arceus-Rock (I have enough to beat Adamant Ray), he wins. However, I Recover just in case he runs a Geomancy set that doesn't invest enough in speed/stays in with Ho-oh.

And in comes Arceus-Rock, who must recover! This means I can go into Xerneas who can KO Rockceus with help from that burn and it can also 2HKO Dialga.

Turn 38
Gengar<333 withdrew Ho-Oh!
Gengar<333 sent out Xerneas!
Arceus-Rock used Recover!
Arceus-Rock regained health!
Arceus-Rock was hurt by its burn!
And he switches in Xerneas. I can only win if I outspeed/ can survive his attack.

Time to kill him.

Turn 39
The foe's Xerneas used Moonblast!
Arceus-Rock lost 40.8% of its health!
Arceus-Rock used Judgment!
The foe's Xerneas lost 21% of its health!
The foe's Xerneas fainted!
Arceus-Rock was hurt by its burn!
Arceus-Rock fainted!
And with the burn sapping my health, I can't survive his attack but manage to KO him in the process. However, with the sun the odds are heavily against me winning because I will need to hit Thunder twice in a row AND not get burned

As expected it, kills with burn and now the game is decided on whether he hits one Thunder in sun and I miss out on the burn.

Go! Dialga!
Gengar<333 sent out Ho-Oh!
Dialga is exerting its pressure!
Turn 40
Dialga used Thunder!
It's super effective! The foe's Ho-Oh lost 52% of its health!
The foe's Ho-Oh used Sacred Fire!
Dialga lost 95.9% of its health!
Dialga was burned!
The foe's Ho-Oh lost some of its HP!
The sunlight faded.
Dialga was hurt by its burn!
Dialga fainted!
Gengar<333 won the battle!

The battle comes to its conclusion. Hope you guys enjoyed the warstory. If not, I hope I made you laugh.

Oh, and he told me after the battle that it was Scarf Xerneas. Which is pretty cool.

GG. I played really bad during some periods of this game, but it was entertaining at least

Props:
Ho-Oh for constantly harassing me despite me having a "counter"
Mewtwo-X for being a boss.
Kangaskhan for keeping me in the game with early damage.
Hack, for giving me a great game!

Slops:
My blunder with Aegislash was huge.
A bit of hax with a few misses for me.
Giratina-O for being useless asides from lugging its bulk around. I totally changed its set after this battle.
I haven't calced it out, but my best shot at the end may have been to sac Dialga and try to recover health with Arceus-Rock.
Donkey, for making fun of this warstory in the comment section

Wow, this was fantastic to read! I really enjoy your commentary (both the strategic and the comedic elements). I was actually about to wonder why Mewtwo didn't gain a speed boost from being hit by Fake Out because he has the Steadfast ability, but then I realized since he was switched in, he didn't actually flinch, which kind of stinks.

That speed tie, though... I was on the edge of my seat. Phenomenal read.

I have to say that in the 7~ years I've been battling competitively, I've always found Ubers battles really boring. This battle, however, was probably one of the most entertaining and exciting battles I've ever watched! Just watching the replay was pretty exciting and the story that came with it just made it better. Great plays to the both of you and thank you for making this warstory! :)

Oh hi superstar. I didn't know we were warstorying this :D

Yes I am Gengar<333, and if you want I can explain some of my plays.

Oh no way! I thought they were playing well for being some random dude haha. I was about to ask you if it was cool if I wrote it up but you d/c'd.

If you want to to toss me a PM, i'd love to add some commentary from you to the OP.

Strong as fuck warstory from two great players!
Speaking of Arceus, it is probably Rock due to his hilariously Yveltal (and to some extent Ho-oh) team otherwise.
Also in the sentence above add weak before team. n_n.

7/10!

Excellent read, battle was kind of meh in all honesty, hack really shouldn't have gotten as close as he did if not for the decisive WoW miss and Draco miss. Still good to see an uber war story so <3 there. Needs more ogasian carry though.

Crunch has a 36% chance to get at least one defense drop, and 4% chance for 2. To find the chance of something happening at least once w/ pbond, you have to find the chance for it not to happen and subtract that from 100%. Otherwise, great warstory!
