[Overview]

"Jack of all trades, master of none" tends to sum up Togetic perfectly. It can do a lot and do it all well, but it can't do it all at once and it will rarely be able to do it better than something else. Don't be fooled though, Togetic makes one of the best blanket checks and support Pokemon in the tier thanks to its high defenses and expansive movepool, it just usually falls by the wayside for a more specialized option when teambuilding. If you want to use Togetic, it will rarely let you down in the role you want it to take and comes with bonus of being one of the hardest Pokemon for your opponent to predict in the tier; it also gets bonus points for being freaking cute. Just make sure its spot on the team wouldn't be better filled by another Pokemon.

[SET]
name: Defensive v.1 (Wish)
move 1: Seismic Toss
move 2: Yawn / Thunder Wave
move 3: Wish
move 4: Protect / Baton Pass
item: Leftovers
ability: Serene Grace
nature: Calm
evs: 252 HP / 44 Def / 212 SpD

[SET COMMENTS]
- Seismic Toss is Togetic's best move for damaging most of the tier and preventing it from being setup bait
- This set is designed to harass offensive teams by checking dangerous threats with Yawn or Thunder Wave and chipping them with SToss
- Wish supports the team and keeps Togetic healthy
- Protect pairs perfectly with Yawn and Wish and stalls for Leftovers recovery
- Baton Pass allows it to keep momentum and is a major move it has over other Wish users like Lickitung and Wigglytuff. Due to its Speed, it also gives its teammates an almost complete safe switch-in

[ADDITIONAL SET COMMENTS]
- EVs avoid the 2HKO from non-CB Hitmonchan and Haunter's Thunderbolt
- More or less Defense or Special Defense can be run depending on your teams needs. Max SpD is more specially bulky than Lickitung for reference, featured spread more bulky than Wigglytuff on both fronts
- Works best on balance teams as a blanket check to many dangerous Pokemon and crippling them for its offensive teammates to sweep later
- It checks a lot of the tier, but can be broken through many very strong attackers like Choice Band Hitmonchan and Pidgeot, making a physically defensive teammate like Mawile, Swalot, and Relicanth a good teammate. They also all appreciate the Wish support Togetic provides
- Forms a good core with Kecleon which can help check the special threats Togetic can't such as Pikachu and Huntail

[SET]
name: Defensive v.2 (Soft-Boiled)
move 1: Fire Blast
move 2: Toxic
move 3: Soft-Boiled
move 4: Encore / Baton Pass
item: Leftovers
ability: Serene Grace
nature: Calm
evs: 252 HP / 44 Def / 212 SpD

[SET COMMENTS]
- Slightly more offensive approach to Togetic to better harass defensive teams
- Fire Blast pairs well with Toxic and makes use of Togetic's decent Special Attack. Allows it to break through Sableye, Mawile, and Roselia well
- Soft-Boiled provides instant recovery and removes the need for Protect to heal safely
- Encore prevents the opponent from setting up on Togetic and can provide a safe switch in for a teammate
- Baton Pass keeps momentum and gives a safe switch in for a teammate

[ADDITIONAL SET COMMENTS]
- EVs avoid the 2HKO from non-CB Hitmonchan and Haunter's Thunderbolt
- More or less Defense or Special Defense can be run depending on your teams needs
- Works best on balance teams as a blanket check to defensive Pokemon and crippling them for its offensive teammates to sweep later
- Flareon can switch into Togetic mostly for free, meaning a teammate such as Wailord is a good idea to pair with it
- Very strong attackers like Choice Band Hitmonchan and Pidgeot can break through Togetic easily, making a physically defensive teammate like Mawile, Swalot, and Relicanth a good teammate.

[SET]
name: Screen Support
move 1: Light Screen / Reflect
move 2: Wish
move 3: Baton Pass
move 4: Seismic Toss
item: Leftovers
ability: Serene Grace
nature: Bold
evs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
- The absolute sturdiest users of both screens in the tier and has Baton Pass to get a teammate in safely
- Probably the set you would use if you were to bring Togetic on a BP chain in order to buffer the chain, that and Togetic has nothing else to offer the chain
- Seismic Toss is chosen to give Togetic some offensive presence, Fire Blast is usable here as well
- Wish keeps Togetic and its teammates healthy, allows for an even safer switch especially into Spikes

[ADDITIONAL SET COMMENTS]
- Max Defense is chosen as the EV spread on this set so that Togetic can set up at least one screen against as much of the tier as possible, max Defense letting it avoid the 2HKO from even Choice Band Relicanth's Rock Slide. Still naturally bulky enough to eat a Hydro Pump in the rain from Huntail
- Using both screens at once is doable but it leaves Togetic's teammate with only 2 turns to make use of the screens
- Soft-Boiled definitely usable here in order to allow Togetic to set up throughout the match
- Needs a teammate or two that are frailer and need the extra buffer in order to safely set up. Dragon Dance Pupitar, Swords Dance Kingler, and Calm Mind Abra good choices

[SET]
name: Sunny Day Support
move 1: Sunny Day
move 2: Fire Blast
move 3: Solar Beam / Light Screen
move 4: Baton Pass
item: Leftovers
ability: Serene Grace
nature: Modest
evs: 172 HP / 252 SpA / 88 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
- Best bet at taking Togetic on the offensive and making use of its decent base 80 SpA, unfort its special movepool is pretty limited so this is what it's got
- Makes good use of Togetic's typing and stat spread to safely set up Sunny Day and provide a safe switch in with Baton Pass for a sweeper like Tangela or Bellossom
- Fire Blast and Solar Beam make use of Sunny Day
- Light Screen is usable over Solar Beam to further buffer frailer sweepers like Weepinbell
- Reason you would choose Togetic over a Fire-type like Flareon or Charmeleon or something like Onix for this role is Togetic's superior mixed bulk, allowing it to safely setup against dangerous threats like Hitmonchan or Huntail in the rain

[ADDITIONAL SET COMMENTS]
- EV spread has enough Speed to outrun 0 Spe Mawile and max Special Attack to damage as much with Fire Blast and Solar Beam
- Needs a Chlorophyll sweeper or a Fire-type teammate to get the most out of this set
- Pairs exceptionally well with Diglett to lure out the opponent's Fire-type and provide a safe switch-in with a slow Baton Pass
- Won't be able to break through exceptionally sturdy defensive Pokemon like Swalot or Kecleon so needs a physically offensive teammate as well, Relicanth and Choice Band Flareon works well for this

[Other Options]
- RestTalk
- Hustle Choice Band
- Charm
- Focus Punch
- Safeguard

[Checks and Counters]
- RestTalk bulky Water-types, Wailord, Dewgong
- Plusle and Haunter if no Fire Blast
- Sableye
- Strong Rock-type attacks, Graveler, Relicanth
- Togetic is primarily a support Pokemon, so pretty hard to outright counter it

Mention how Chimecho generally outclasses the first set due to Chimecho's overall better typing (Fighting resist, Psychic resist, not weak to Thunderbolt or Ice Beam), general bulk, and offensive power. The main boon of Togetic is the momentum from Baton Pass, so I'd slash that before Encore. Soft Boiled is really cool as well, I don't think its getting enough love on most of the sets, even as an other option at most. Mention how Encore can help deal with the RestTalk users that can wall Togetic when you fill out C&C.

4 sets is ridiculous for a mon this unused. At the very least get rid of the sun support set and put it in OO. I'd also get rid of this bizarre defensive 2.0. Screens pass is fine I guess even though BP is bad.

The only set I've used before is this:
Togetic @ Leftovers
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 HP / 148 Def / 108 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Wish
- Protect
- Toxic
- Flamethrower

your evs are probably better, but the point remains that there's not too much of a reason to use Togetic if you're not using Wish. I prefer flamethrower because any mon that gives free subs to Haunter is bad. Even if Haunter can't 2hko it... Tbolt may eventually parahax or crit. Or it could be sub tox haunter too.

Updated opinions since 2019 lol.

Wish is not mandatory and actually suboptimal on anything but stall.

The primary reasons to use Togetic vs Lickitung or Wigglytuff on any sort of balanced team are 1) Spikes immunity, 2) the fact that Soft-Boiled lets you SELF-HEAL in 1 move not 2, helping to avoid 4MSS, and 3) the fact that it's not totally boned by Taunt, since you can use Body Slam with Serene Grace to get paras and thereafter outrun Taunts. Togetic low key beats CM Taunt Chime and even lucks CM Heal Bell Chime with enough paras.

A set of Body Slam, Soft-Boiled, SToss, and Water Pulse/Fire move (mostly to hit Haunter, but also nice for a few other things) is legitimately a bit annoying to deal with if you can't land a Toxic on it, and Togetic has the bulk to switch into even things like mixed Flareon carefree, due to Spikes immunity. Even with its electric weakness too, it can easily be EVed to beat Haunter's TBolt.

I ranked it B- in my last go around, but I might even bump it up in the future. The worst drawback is getting boned by Pikachu, which ideally a fat normal would check, but you can get around this with other Pikachu checks.
