Four Swords Quest
Difficulty: Legendary
Prerequisites: None
Pokéballs: Dusk Balls are increased in effectiveness, unless otherwise stated.

RP Path:
RP1 --> RP2 --> Guardians --> RP3 --> Boss

This TLR uses Background-Pokémon mechanics. A brief overview for how this works in FSQ;
Background Pokémon exist in the background, and are invulnerable to all attacks from both teams. Player-allied Background Pokémon give their orders at the same time as the player's other Pokémon, whilst Background Pokémon under enemy control always order after the player, much like a Boss Pokémon.

Background Pokémon act on the first action of each round. If a Background Pokémon would incur cooldown, then it suffers this cooldown on the following round's first action instead. Background Pokémon do not incur consecutive energy penalty.

Background Pokémon, existing in the background, are not directly part of the battle, and as a result, will not affect the outside capture resistance for the purposes of capture. Background Pokémon do not cause other moves, such as Rock Slide, to suffer the spread move penalty. If all Pokémon except those in the Background are KOed on one side, then all Background Pokémon on that side flee the battle, immediately causing that side to be defeated.

Background Pokémon are capable of targetting any Pokémon on the field, including using moves such as Light Screen and Reflect.

Background Pokémon do not count toward's a player's team's maximum size of 6 Pokémon. Players may use Background Pokémon in all fights, in addition to their active Pokémon. At the end of the TLR, background Pokémon on the player's team are not captured.
A general reminder that Background-Pokémon mechanics are not universal between all TLRs.

Introduction:
As far as mysterious legends go, you're surprised that this one didn't pick up more interest. Sitting on the rickety old train as it exits from Anville, causing you to uncomfortable bounce on the seat, you glance over the map you have. It details the small village of Skystead, as well as the path to the long abandoned Temple of the Four Blades.

You arrive in Skystead with little affair, finding the local bed and breakfast nestled opposite the Pokécenter. You take a few moments to settle in your room, before heading to the village inn. It's busier than you would have expected, with a few explorers you're sure you recognise. Discussions over drinks confirm two things.

[list=1][*]Your mapping was relatively accurate, and there will be no noodle incidents this time.
[*]You hold your alcohol as well as a sieve.[/list]

It's with a ringing head you make your way to the temple. Unlike most temples, which elect to sit on top of mountains, or lie between them, the Temple of the Four Blades rests literally within the mountain. You can see the occasional window jutting out the mountainside, small walls where nature failed to be adequate, but you wouldn't be surprised if the thinnest layer of snow would obscure the temple entirely. Plucking up some courage, you carefully enter the temple.

RP1:
You're not far into the temple, walking along the cobblestone path, and admiring the intricate drawings on the wall. It's a shame you can't translate the glyphs on the walls, a mix of delicate curls, dots, and lines surrounding incredible carved pieces of art. As you advance along the temple, you find yourself in what appears to be a formal entranceway - a larger room, with two staircases ascending from it. One staircase has a sculpted sword next to it, the other a carved shield. Without access to a map, it is time you made your first decision of the exploration!

a) Sword
You ascend the staircase slowly, making sure you don't trip and fall. You reach the top to find it rather dark, with only the occasional torch on the wall providing lighting. You're glad to see, however, the top of the other staircase, meaning it's likely you won't get as lost so quickly. As long as you keep to the main corridor...

Suddenly, you hear a grunt from <Lowest HP Mon>. Turning around, you see that a [b]Sawk[/b] appears to have cut it off, running down a side corridor. Given how dark it is, you estimate it'll take two rounds to find them!

[REF NOTE] 2 Round Trap <Lowest HP Mon> vs Sawk, Trap Moves Low Sweep and Focus Energy

[POST BATTLE] With the Sawk KOed, you realise that you're now completely lost. You see that from this room there's a pair of staircases, one leading further away from where you think you were, and one that looks like it'd backtrack.

RP2:
You begin to ascend the staircase, which turned out to be quite a bit longer than you expected. The dark passageway seems antiqued, yet ornate in its design of spindled railings and engraved steps. Lost in the details while climbing, you jump at a resonating, booming crunch directly above. You barely have enough time to look up and see that the ceiling is collapsing!

[b][u]Player Options:[/u][/b]
a) Stand your ground and endure the falling mass.
b) Dash forward and try to escape.

a) Stand your ground and endure the falling mass.

Bracing for impact, you and your team huddle together. The hefty stone ceiling slams into your team from above, sending rubble down the stairs in a scatter. You brush off the dust and scope out the aftermath. While your team survived, they look exhausted. What's worse, the staircase has now been blocked off by the cave-in. However, you notice a different room that you can now access by climbing the new pile of rubble. With a reinvigorated sense of vigor, you and your team trek up the wreckage.

[REF NOTE] Player's active team all lose 25 HP, and start the Guardian Fight Sluggish [1a].

At the top of the now wrecked staircase, you enter a large, nearly empty room. The only notable object in the room is an altar, that sits at the centre of the room, with what appears to be a blade sticking out of it.

You attempt to look at the altar, but as you step close, bolts of lightning fall from the ceiling, striking the ground around the altar. As your eyes readjust from the sudden burst of light, you look up to see that the blade is floating, revealing itself as a [b]Honedge[/b]. You hear a voice projected in your head,

"For those who seek the temple's power, a sword will guide the way."

The Honedge then turns to face the only other door out of the temple, slashing at it, releasing a burst of electric sparks in the process.

[REF NOTE] Background Honedge is added to the team. This Honedge knows Sacred Sword, Cut, and can use Slash as an Electric-Type move. Advance to Guardians A

b) Dash forward and try to escape.

With a battle cry, you rush forward with your team towards the top of the staircase. While you are able to avoid the majority of the collapse, a few stray chunks of ceiling fall unceremoniously on your teammates. It could have been a lot worse, you suppose. As you continue into the adjacent room, heart thumping, you notice that the cave-in blocked off the bottom of the staircase. Looks like there's no turning back now.

[REF NOTE] Player's active team all lose 15 HP.

At the top of the staircase, you enter a large, nearly empty room. The only notable object in the room is an altar, that sits at the centre of the room, with what appears to be a blade sticking out of it.

You attempt to look at the altar, but as you step close, flames burst out of the floor, causing you to jump back rather quickly. The flames extinguish themselves as rapidly as they ignited, and from within the smoke you can see the silhouette of a floating sword. As the smoke clears, it's evidently a [b]Honedge[/b]. You hear a voice projected in your head,

"For those who seek the temple's power, a sword will guide the way."

The Honedge promptly slashes at the far wall, releasing a burst of flame which redirects your eyes to the two doors out of the room, excluding your entryway. Seems that for now, your guide is content to let you pick your own doors.

b) Cling to the side railings and hold on.

With a sudden exhalation, you and your team leap to grasp the stair railings. The ornate stone floor crumbles below you, falling forcibly into the ground below with a resounding thud. Your knuckles are white with strain as you and your team hang on. After several terrifying moments, you glance below at the collapsed floor, relieved that it only fell down one story. You and your team climb backwards down the railings, down to the new pile of broken stairs. Although the grappling has left you and your teammates exhausted, you see that the cave-in has opened up a new stairway that must have been directly below you. With a reinvigorated sense of vigor, you and your team trek up the revealed staircase.

Guardians:
A ray of light briefly warms your face as you enter a medium-sized cavern. Your short reprieve is curtly interrupted by the grunting of two Pokemon ahead. A Hitmonlee and Hitmontop, which appear to have been training together, jog to the two doorways on the opposite end of the room. The thought occurs to you: perhaps they caught wind of how you slammed the Tyrogues earlier. In synchronized motion, they enter battle stances, goading you on. Who are you to deny them a skirmish?

[REF NOTE] Guardians vs Hitmonlee, Hitmontop

[POST BATTLE] You triumphantly slam your fist toward the sky as the final opponent drops to the dirt floor with a thud. While you and your team celebrate, Honedge glides ominously forward to the doorways on the other end of the arena. With a curt about-face, Honedge beckons you towards it. As you approach, you notice a sense of confusion in the Pokemon; it is looking for you for guidance.

RP3:
You enter the next room, but you discover that you weren't careful enough, as you slip and fall. Evidently the damp polished slate that makes the room's floor is not easy to maintain your footing on.

Whilst you're lying prone, your <POKEMON> is tackled by a very fast moving [b]Floatzel[/b]. Honedge immediately gives chase, somehow moving just as quickly, but you'll probably take a few moments to catch up.

[REF NOTE] 2 Round Trap <Highest HP Mon> vs Floatzel, Trap Moves Agility and Odor Sleuth

[POST BATTLE] With the Floatzel dealt with, you realise that it has lead you to another door, this one covered in ornate symbols. You sense great power lies behind this door, so you might want to prepare for whatever's behind there...

[REF NOTE] Advance to Boss Keldeo
You enter the next room, and have to wonder if they just forgot this room existed - it is more of a natural cave, rather than an actual chamber. Indeed, you find you practically have to climb through the room, up a surprisingly steep path.

<POKEMON> is the first to reach the top of the path, but is suddenly ambushed by a surprisingly well hidden [b]Gigalith[/b]. You also feel the gravity strengthen, trying to force you back down the path. You should still be able to catch up, but it might take a while. Honedge, meanwhile, has already floated up to join that fight, apparently unaffected by the Gravity.

[REF NOTE] 2 Round Trap <Highest HP Mon> vs Gigalith, Trap Moves Gravity and Rock Polish

[POST BATTLE] With the Gigalith dispatched, you realise that the top of this path has a surprisingly ornate door at the end of it. You feel an ominous power lurks behind the door, so it might be wise to heal up before you head onwards.

[REF NOTE] Advance to Boss Terrakion
Upon entering this room, the first thing that strikes you is how modern it feels. Sure, there's not much in the way of technology, but the walls have a weird metal feeling to them, with slightly rounded corners.

Your time to be surprised by the room is cut short when a [b]Klinklang[/b] rather rapidly managed to rush past you and shunt <POKEMON> into another room. You should be able to catch up - although Honedge seems to be substantially more on the ball than you are, since it seems to have followed the Klinklang already.

[REF NOTE] 2 Round Trap <Highest HP Mon> vs Klinklang, Trap Moves Magnet Rise and Shift Gear

[POST BATTLE] Klinklang no longer being a threat gives you a few moments to compose yourself and take stock of the environment. You see an ornate door, decorated in a way that's almost out of place for the metallic room. You also sense a dangerous presence lies behind that door, so you should proceed with caution.

[REF NOTE] Advance to Boss Cobalion
Taking stock of the room as you enter, you have to determine that you've found the temple's greenhouse. Light streams in from outside, and you take a look out of the window, more than a little bit stunned at how high up you've got. You look back across the greenhouse, you see rows of green vegetables growing as stream of water flows through the room.

You plan to leave, but you spot a [b]Bellossom[/b] that blocks your path. You hope it's not going to be aggressive, but the vegetables suddenly grow in size, splitting off <POKEMON> and Honedge from the rest of your group. You should be able to get through, but it won't be instantaneous.

[REF NOTE] 2 Round Trap <Highest HP Mon> vs Bellossom, Trap Moves Quiver Dance and Grassy Terrain

[POST BATTLE] With Bellossom no longer aggressive, you look around the Greenhouse some more. Aside from the door you entered, you see another door, this one incredibly ornately decorated. You can't help but feel that there's something incredibly hidding behind that door, so you decide to take a short break before advancing through.

[REF NOTE] Advance to Boss Virizion

Bosses:
With a deep inhalation, you step through the ornate doorway. It leads to a cavernous room; your footsteps echo softly across the floor. You gaze at the faraway walls and notice that they are shimmering. A double take reveals that they are glistening waterfalls, endlessly supplying water to the room. It is exquisite architecture, you muse.

You walking leads you to what feels like the back of the space. A set of several stairs leads to a large platform, surrounded by glittering water. On top of the altar stands a majestic four-legged Pokemon, which appears to be eyes. Before you can get a good glimpse of it, the pool of water erupts as an infuriated Feraligatr springs from its depths. It lands imposingly next to the other Pokemon and glares directly at you. Startled by all the commotion, a small Poliwag bobs its head out of the water to get a better view of the situation. A clank of metal next to you causes you to jump slightly; Honedge is readying itself for battle. You gaze at the majestic Pokemon once again, which smirks haughtily back at you. It's time to finish this quest.

[REF NOTE] Initiate Boss fight with Keldeo, Feraligatr, and Background Poliwag

[POST BATTLE] With Keldeo <KOed/Captured>, your Honedge guide glows faintly. You feel yourself grow unconscious, before completely passing out.

When you come to, you realise that you are no longer inside the mountain, instead at the entrance to the temple again. Content, you begin the walk back to Skystead.
With a deep inhalation, you step through the ornate doorway. It leads to a cavernous room; your footsteps echo softly across the floor. Arenas:
This room of the chamber is less intricately decorated, and lacks any external light source. A few torches are sporadically placed along the walls, and gently flicker, providing just enough light to see.
