Name Etymology:
A major merchantile and maritime empire of the classical world, founded in northern Africa in 800 BCE.

Attitude and Motive:
Taciturn and prone to stubbornness. Often demanding of others if he feels they owe him a debt.

History:
A stoic guardian of an ancient ruin who was tasked, much like many of his kind, to guard a specific tomb in a catacomb from would-be robbers and despoilers. He sat for centuries, idle and inert, until the forces of time and erosion caused the ceiling to cave in. Being a ghost, he easily rose through the rubble to the now-sunken street above, built right over his former home. With nothing left to guard and a whole new era to see, he accepted an offer to travel with a trainer.

History:
Shah Rukh is one manifestation of the ruler of Mt. Thunder, where Lou journeyed with Ira to teach her greater self-control. To earn the right to petition the master, a petitioner is required to demonstrate force, discretion, and restraint in battle. Born from the mountain storm, Shah Rukh emerged fully-formed in response to this demonstration to act as Ira's new mentor and master.

Taciturn and prone to stubbornness. Often demanding of others if he feels they owe him a debt.

History:
A stoic guardian of an ancient ruin who was tasked, much like many of his kind, to guard a specific tomb in a catacomb from would-be robbers and despoilers. He sat for centuries, idle and inert, until the forces of time and erosion caused the ceiling to cave in. Being a ghost, he easily rose through the rubble to the now-sunken street above, built right over his former home. With nothing left to guard and a whole new era to see, he accepted an offer to travel with a trainer.

The lord of the rukh, a race of gigantic intelligent birds, in Iranian myth. One such rukh rescues the stranded Sinbad in the One Thousand and One Nights.

Attitude and Motive:
Severe, imperious, and deeply prideful. Shah Rukh is the unquestioned master of their home and domain.

History:
Shah Rukh is one manifestation of the ruler of Mt. Thunder, where Lou journeyed with Ira to teach her greater self-control. To earn the right to petition the master, a petitioner is required to demonstrate force, discretion, and restraint in battle. Born from the mountain storm, Shah Rukh emerged fully-formed in response to this demonstration to act as Ira's new mentor and master.

Only now occurred to me to put these posts here:

You all are aware of the 10/21/2022 change to the cHP formula and defenses-lowering moves but here it is, copypasted from the Discord announcement

Capture Damage formula is being changed: Capture Damage (per attempt) = (Ball Strength - (Target Current HP / 10 5 + Max EN Modifier)) * Major Status Modifier Self-defense lowering moves now are usable, but lower the offensive stat instead of the defensive stat (so Close Combat is now -1 Atk, -1 SpA, and Superpower is -2 Atk)
In addition, new things happening effective as of this posting that just got written up:

Statuses are being nerfed, but Ball Strength is going up across the board to compensate. These changes allow for people to rely less on status as a necessity, while still encouraging bringing it by enabling more captures than you would get otherwise.

Status:
Burn: 1.5x > 1.25x
Poison: 1.5x > 1.25x
Paralysis: 1.5x > 1.25x
Sleep: 2x > 1.5x
Freeze: 2.5x > 2x

Ball Strengths:
Pokeball: 18 > 24
Great Ball: 24 > 32
Ultra Ball: 30 > 40
Premier Ball: 15 > 20

In addition, two new types of Pokeballs have been added: Quick Balls and Timer Balls.

Quick Balls: These balls are designed to capture Pokemon shortly after a fight has begun. Whenever a Pokemon escapes from a Quick Ball, it does not Chill. Ball Strength: 32

Timer Balls: These balls become stronger the longer you're in a Habitat. For every battle after the first, a Timer Ball gains +100% Ball Strength, up to a maximum of +150%. Ball Strength: 18

Lastly, changes have been made to what you can choose when you purchase the Elite Ball Pack (6 Pack Points). As before, you choose one option whenever selecting this pack.

Profile as a Slowpoke:
Slow and dopey, Sheldon chugs along at his own pace. He has a sturdy body, so if he was attacked, he probably wouldn't even notice. He is often caught staring blankly into space.

Changes Upon Evolving:
One day, Sheldon was sitting at the beach, staring off into space with his usual blank expression when a Shellder flipped out of the water and chomped down hard on his tail, triggering his sudden evolution! Sheldon can now sit up straight, but he still finds it difficult to focus on what's in front of him. His intelligence seems to have increased a little bit, though. Just a bit. Sheldon's body is sturdier than it was as a Slowpoke and can now launch stronger Psychic and Water attacks.

How They Met:
Sheldon's original trainer was one of Doduodrio's friends who traded him in the hopes of evolving him. Unfortunately, before the trade happened, Sheldon managed to lose his King's Rock, and couldn't evolve into Slowking. Because he was a traded Pokemon, Sheldon is one of Doduodrio's strongest team members. His original trainer insists that he doesn't want to trade back for Sheldon, so Doduodrio has been raising him ever since.

Name Origins:
Sheldon has "Shel" in it which references Slowbro's category, the "Hermit Crab" Pokemon.

Profile as a Snugglow:
Node is cheerful and constantly bounces around with seemingly limitless energy. She loves to hug her friends. Her bubbly personality cheers up her teammates and helps encourage them in battle. Node isn't always like this, though; when she doesn't get her way, she can be quite feisty.

Changes Upon Evolving:
Node is no longer as small and bouncy as she was as a Snugglow, but she's still very energetic. Her loving hugs always make her teammates feel better and encourage them to continue battling their hardest. She's too big to fit indoors, though, so she gets to stay outside in a special barn. Her increase in size also means that Node is big enough to be ridden; she glides gracefully through the air, held aloft by magnetic currents.

How They Met:
Doduodrio hatched Node from when she was an egg, hoping to learn more about raising Pokemon through her. Electric and Poison are some of the more dangerous Pokemon types, so he was hoping for it to be good experience for the future. He received the egg from a Pokemon Breeder who worked at the Smogon CAP Nursery.

Name Origins:
The two antennae on Snugglow and Plasmanta look like what Doduodrio originally thought were called "nodes."

hey signups are closed for a couple days tops hopefully (I'll post again when they're open)

I'm trying to implement the large amount of feedback I got last night but I'm having trouble getting the math to work, let alone the more esoteric feedback like "what's the most interesting Safari experience, from a risk vs reward persepctive"/"until gen 9 make it as fun as possible, rewards not as a factor"
 
Alright, ladies, gentlemen, and none of the above. Safari Zone is open again. Come get your Pokemon, and make sure to refresh on the new changes! Reread the OP, but here's the patch notes below:

- 6 > 8 JC entry fee
- 2/5 Recovery/Chills to 1/2, can now chill/recover in front of final Pokemon
- Self-Defense lowering moves now have reduced BAPs equal to the stages of defenses being lowered (so Close Combat is no-downside 10 BAP Fighting) for Wild Pokemon
- Recoil moves can now be used by Wild Pokemon but instead of having recoil, reduce BAP by recoil% (so Flare Blitz 12 BAP 33% recoil just becomes 8 BAP no recoil)
- Clear cut referee expectations (I hope)
- Battles are roll 2 random mons and fight them, instead of roll 4 pick 2
- challengers can declare they are hunting a mon in their pool when signing up, removing it from the random pool but ensuring it shows up in the final battle of that habitat
- Refs can claim any encountered mon, instead of any from first battle, except unpurchasables like Lycanroc-Du
- Pokeball pack 8 balls > 10
- Premier Balls are dead until Gen 9
- Capture formula is tweaked to require more HP removed again (current HP/5 > current HP/3)
- Whenever a mon breaks out of a ball, instead of chilling, it hits you for 3 damage
- Pokeball cDmg 24 > 23
- Great Ball and Quick Ball cDmg 32 > 29
- Quick Ball prevents the wild Pokemon hit from breaking out
- Ultra Ball cDmg 40 > 38
- each Habitat has a table for each battle to be rolled on (so battle 1 of Weather Institute, roll on table 1 for it, and so on)
- Each Habitat has its own amount of battles, set in the Arena description.
