Moves
========
Psyshock hits the foe's Defense and is boosted by Psychic Terrain, which allows Tapu Lele to bypass special walls such as Chansey. When used with Psychium Z, Tapu Lele gains access to a 160-Base Power Shattered Psyche that hits the foe's Special Defense, bypassing physical walls such as Mega Scizor. Moonblast is Tapu Lele's strongest Fairy-type STAB move, OHKOing Dark-type Pokemon such as Greninja and Weavile. Calm Mind boosts Tapu Lele's Special Attack to absurd levels, giving it the ability to power through Pokemon such as Mew and Chansey and helping it use Shattered Psyche both to OHKO Pokemon such as Mega Scizor and to do upwards of 60% damage to Celesteela. Hidden Power Fire reliably dispatches Mega Scizor, which walls Tapu Lele once its Z-Move has been expended. Hidden Power Fire also hits Ferrothorn more reliably; with Focus Blast, Tapu Lele typically needs to hit Ferrothorn multiple times in order to get rid of it. Focus Blast is an alternative option to nail important targets such as Heatran and Tyranitar; the latter notably survives a Calm Mind-boosted Moonblast and threatens to OHKO Tapu Lele back if Stealth Rock is not on the field.

Psychic Surge sets Psychic Terrain, which boosts the power of Tapu Lele's Psychic-type moves to absurd levels and protects it and its grounded teammates from priority moves from the likes of Mega Scizor and Ash-Greninja. Maximum Speed EVs and a Timid nature guarantee that Tapu Lele always outspeeds Jolly Landorus-T and Adamant Zygarde as well as Speed ties with Naive Kyurem-B, and maximum Special Attack EVs allow Tapu Lele to hit as hard as possible. Psychium Z gives Tapu Lele insane wallbreaking potential, helping it break through Pokemon such as Assault Vest Tapu Bulu and Celesteela.
Usage Tips
========
Psychium Z Tapu Lele is ultimately a wallbreaker, so it should be kept relatively healthy against bulkier teams so that it can survive either multiple Seismic Tosses from Chansey or a Magma Storm from Heatran when the occasion necessitates it. Additionally, try to keep Tapu Lele free of status—a stray Toxic from Pokemon such as Toxapex can severely cut into its longevity. Because Tapu Lele is not using a Choice item on this set, predicting switches is not nearly as important. Feel free to simply use the move that hits the current Pokemon on the field super effectively; mispredicting is much less punishing. Calm Mind is often a safe play instead of needlessly predicting as well. As teams often try to pivot around Tapu Lele, using Calm Mind as the foe switches into a threat, namely Ash-Greninja, will allow Tapu Lele to survive the ensuing attack. Similarly, Focus Blast is also an excellent midground play against teams that try to use the core of either Heatran or Ferrothorn + a Dark-type Pokemon to deal with Tapu Lele.
Team Options
========
Tapu Lele is an excellent wallbreaker that pairs well with a wide variety of Pokemon. Pokemon that appreciate Tapu Lele's ability to wear down Assault Vest Magearna, such as Ash-Greninja, typically make excellent partners, as they find it much easier to clean up teams after Magearna is weakened. Pokemon vulnerable to priority such as Volcarona and Choice Scarf Kartana greatly appreciate Tapu Lele's ability to summon Psychic Terrain. Tapu Lele works well with entry hazard-stacking support from the likes of Landorus-T and Ferrothorn, which can set up Stealth Rock, and in Ferrothorn's case, Spikes, to wear down Tapu Lele's checks and counters. Mega Alakazam thrives in Psychic Terrain, which protects it from priority from the likes of Mega Pinsir, Ash-Greninja, and Mega Scizor and boosts the power of its STAB moves to ridiculous levels, letting it OHKO Pokemon such as Landorus-T. Mega Alakazam also appreciates Tapu Lele's ability to wear down Assault Vest Magearna. Hawlucha can use Psychic Seed to immediately activate Unburden in Psychic Terrain, giving it a Special Defense boost to more easily tank Water Shuriken and Hidden Power Ice from the likes of Ash-Greninja and Landorus-T.
