[SET COMMENTS]
Tapu Fini is an excellent Defog user due to its favorable matchup against most hazard setters, barring Ferrothorn. It helps keep monstrous threats like Weavile, Heatran, and Zamazenta in check, though it is prone to be worn down due to its lack of reliable recovery and susceptibility to entry hazards. Moonblast immediately threatens Pokemon like Urshifu-R and Mega Lopunny while Nature’s Madness is more effective against Tangrowth, Toxapex, and Ferrothorn. Knock Off can be run to remove Heavy-Duty Boots and Leftovers from Zapdos, Clodsire, and Ferrothorn, although it can’t threaten the Pokemon it’s supposed to check: Mega Lopunny, Zamazenta, and Weavile. As Tapu Fini's offensive capabilities are mediocre and its defensive typing is already excellent, terastallization is better used by other teammates. However, it can utilize Tera Steel to turn the tables on Iron Valiant, Katana, and Tapu Lele. Tera Fairy can also be run to pick up an OHKO on Mega Lopunny and Weavile while still checking Zamazenta and Dragapult. The given Speed investment allows Tapu Fini to outspeed non-invested Garchomp, enough bulk investment to consistently check Zamazenta and Weavile, and 16 SpA investment to 2HKO offensive Heatran. Steel-types like Heatran and Mega Scizor appreciate Tapu Fini’s ability to check Fighting- and Fire-type Pokemon like Mega Lopunny or an opposing Heatran. In return, Heatran can remove Ferrothorn and Toxapex, while Mega Scizor can help ease the match-up against Iron Valiant and Kartana. Pokemon like Ferrothorn, Garchomp, and Gliscor that help alleviate Tapu Fini’s Electric weakness make great teammates; in return, Tapu Fini helps take Fire-type, Ice-type, and Water-type attacks for them. Sweepers and cleaners such as Annilihape, Volcarona, Kingambit, and Mega Lopunny love the Misty Terrain Tapu Fini sets, preventing detrimental statuses like poison and burns. Ferrothorn and Gholdengo are usually problematic for Tapu Fini, so teammates like Mega Lopunny and Kingambit make good allies.

[SET COMMENTS]
Tapu Fini effectively utilizes its impressive bulk, superb typing, and Misty Terrain to help accumulate Calm Minds and sweep the opposition, while also being a formidable check to threats such as Heatran and Weavile. However, due to its immediate lack of offensive presence and relatively slow speed, it is susceptible to being overwhelmed by the likes of Tapu Koko, Kartana, and Mega Charizard Y even after a boost. Draining Kiss in conjunction with Leftovers keeps Tapu Fini healthy, which allows it to accrue more boosts. An alternative in Moonblast can better check Pokemon like Dragapult and Mega Lopunny, though it has to forfeit Draining Kiss’s sustainability. By boosting Draining Kiss's base power to 60, Tera Fairy significantly increases Tapu Fini’s damage output and sustenance, with the bonus of removing its weaknesses to Electric and Grass while still checking Zamazenta and Dragapult. Tera Dragon lets Fini deal with Pokemon like Ferrothorn, Heatran, and Tapu Koko; Misty Terrain helps mitigate the Dragon weakness. Tera Steel helps Tapu Fini against Pokemon that can overwhelm or threaten it like Tapu Lele, Iron Valiant, and Kartana. However, it gives glaring weaknesses to Pokemon like Mega Charizard Y and Mega Lopunny. The given EV spread maximizes Tapu Fini’s bulk while outrunning uninvested Garchomp. Pokemon like Mega Lopunny and Choice Scarf Kartana that appreciate fatter team compositions being pressured love Tapu Fini’s ability to do so while protecting them with Misty Terrain. Pokemon such as Heatran, Mega Medicham, and Weavile that can wear down or remove bulky Water- and Grass-types such as Toxapex, Tangrowth, and Ferrothorn are great partners, breaking holes in opposing teams to pave the way for Tapu Fini to sweep. Magnezone removes the troublesome Ferrothorn for it, either by removing it from the game or forcing Tera. Pokemon such as Mega Mawile and Garchomp that appreciate Heatran and Weavile being pressured are also good partners, as they capitalize on special walls like Chansey and Clodsire for it. In return, Tapu Fini cleans up the game after the walls are gone.

Although lacking in impressive offensive capabilities, Choice Scarf Tapu Fini compensates for this with decent speed control, exceptional utility, and the ability to bait and cripple switch-ins such as Toxapex and Ferrothorn with Trick. As a result, it can prove to be a valuable asset and role compressor to one’s team. Hydro Pump allows Tapu Fini to always 2HKO Heatran, providing it with much-needed power but is sometimes unreliable due to accuracy. Tapu Fini can opt for Scald or Surf instead of Hydro Pump to gain more consistency at the expense of power; Scald inflicts burns on Pokemon like Dragonite and Mega Scizor, while Surf reliably 2HKOs Hippowdon and Skarmory. It can run Taunt instead of Defog to shut down setup sweepers such as Dragonite and Annihilape and hazard setters like Ferrothorn and Clodsire. However, Defog is preferred because Tapu Fini can force out most hazard setters barring Ferrothorn. Tera Fairy can be used to 2HKO Pokemon like Rotom-W and Zapdos and OHKO Walking Wake and Zamazenta after chip damage while still checking Pokemon like Dragapult. Tera Water with Hydro Pump 2HKOs Clodsire, Gholdengo, and Kingambit. 224 Speed allows Tapu Fini to outspeed Dragapult and Gyarados at +1. Pokemon like Mega Lopunny, Zamazenta, and Kartana enjoy the Misty Terrain that Tapu Fini sets up, helping them avoid paralysis and burns. Set up sweepers and special attackers like Volcarona and Dragapult love Tapu Fini’s utility, as it sets up Misty Terrain for them and cripples special walls like Toxapex and Blissey with Trick. Pokemon like Ferrothorn, Heatran, and Mega Scizor form a nice core with Tapu Fini: they help covers its weakness to Tapu Koko, Kartana, and Mega Charizard Y while Tapu Fini checks Heatran and Mega Lopunny for them. Ground-types like Garchomp, Great Tusk, and Landorus-T make great teammates and help with Tapu Fini’s Electric weakness. In return, Tapu Fini helps them against threats like Weavile and Walking Wake.
