Welcome to SV RU Creative and Underrated Sets! This project will be used for sharing effective yet non-standard or uncommon sets for any viable Pokemon in SV RU. There will be an archive for sets the community posts that are particularly effective or outside of the box. Here are some guidelines for posting sets in this thread:

What constitutes an underrated and/or creative moveset?
  • Creative Movesets would be those that are:
  1. Not commonly seen on the ladder whatsoever.
  2. It successfully pulls off a role and is not strictly outclassed by others.
  3. It takes advantage of metagame trends.
  4. It might be able to surprise and demolish Pokemon that normally counter the usual sets, but does not become a gimmick in order to do so.
  5. It has had some success (sufficient testing/replays).
  • Underrated Movesets would be those that are:
  1. Somewhat common but still under-utilized despite being effective choices in the current metagame.
  2. Underrated sets are meant to prey on specific facets of the metagame.
What are some things that constitute a gimmick?
  1. Movesets that are highly inconsistent.
  2. Unviable Pokémon. Check out the Viability Rankings if you are not sure/do a nomination there instead.
  3. Movesets that are inferior and ineffective compared to existing movesets, or use an obscure move for the sake of hitting an even more obscure check or counter.
Thread Rules:
  1. NO GIMMICKS. They don't add any positives to the discussion and only derail the thread. These posts may be subject to being deleted.
  2. Explain a little as to what your set does and how it accomplishes its goal.
  3. Dumping multiple sets at once is perfectly acceptable as long as all are well explained.
  4. Replays are not required, but are encouraged whenever possible. Make sure if you use replays, they aren't low on ladder and adequately reflect the niche of the set you're posting.
  5. Be nice LOL
Posts that don't follow these rules will be deleted, so please try to keep them in mind.

Happy posting!

Revavroom @ Clear Amulet
Ability: Overcoat
Tera Type: Ground / Water / Grass / Flying / whatever
EVs: 168 HP / 252 Atk / 88 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Gunk Shot
- Iron Head
- Tera Blast
- Shift Gear

Okay we all know Shift Gear Car is broken who cares, this is mostly to show off Clear Amulet and its applications in RU. There are 4 viable Intimidate Pokemon in RU, more than any other tier, being Arcanine, Krookodile, and both Tauros-Paldea forms. All 4 of these Pokemon are great checks to Revavroom, but without Intimidate these matchups become very shaky. On top of negating Intimidate, Clear Amulet completely blocks Parting Shot, making opposing defensive Revavroom complete setup fodder against this.

Sylveon @ Throat Spray
Ability: Pixilate
Tera Type: Ground
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Calm Mind
- Hyper Voice
- Trailblaze
- Tera Blast

I saw this set on the ladder once and I had to try it out for myself. It's for sure a set for the surprise factor and can pull off some really funny sweeps. Maybe this is the Toxtricity replacement if it gets banned?? Of course it does take a lot to get a full set up and Sylveon only does have base 60 speed so a lot still outspeeds it after +1. However if you set up with Trailblaze first, a lot of the times you can sneak a KO with Tera ground to things like Revaroom. This seems like a big meme but its actually fun to use.

:sv/altaria:
Altaria @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Natural Cure
Tera Type: Steel
EVs: 248 HP / 124 SpD / 136 Spe
Careful Nature
- Brave Bird
- Earthquake
- Dragon Dance
- Roost
All credit to Togkey for bringing this up. Unfortunately this is a huge meme but what really kills an altaria. The thing is fat asf and can get big on em. If someone good can build w it perhaps...

:sv/rotom-mow:
Rotom-Mow @ Chesto Berry
Ability: Levitate
Tera Type: Electric / Fairy
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Nasty Plot
- Leaf Storm
- Volt Switch
- Rest
Not the most creative thing of all time but I used this vs Feliburn and then TheFranklin used that team as well and it is broken asf. This thing is great but slapping a scarf on the mow hinders its ability a bit. Mow is one of the best ways to bring in threats and chesto allows it to do so multiple times during a game without getting worn down. I would recc trying out tera fairy as well. Big fan of mowtom it was broken in ssnu and is very very good here.

:sv/goodra:
Goodra @ Choice Band
Ability: Sap Sipper
Tera Type: Steel
EVs: 168 HP / 252 Atk / 88 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Outrage
- Earthquake
- Power Whip
- Tera Blast
Speaking of broken in ss ru, goodra is good guys please use it. The AV and specs sets are phenomenal and hopefully ppl will use it more. This set however is a bit of a lure for Blissey and other mons that would try and pivot into the special goodra. I think it has a lot of merit deleting a steel type or doing 75+ to a blissey on an early turn. The speed is for spD vroom if anyone is wondering.

:sv/tornadus:
Tornadus @ Mirror Herb
Ability: Prankster
Tera Type: Fire
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swagger
- Acrobatics
- Crunch
- Brick Break

A set that has been having some success in my games due to the sheer confusion it can sow. This thing is exactly why Torn is so good imo. You can play with this set in two separate ways. You can sent it to set up with swagger and start sweeping with Acrobatics, or...

:sv/cloyster:
Lets say your opponent has a Cloyster in a fantastic position. They have rocks up, you don't, and they have their Cloyster ready to shell smash. You may think that this is the end. But thanks to Mirror Herb Tornadus, you can steal specifically only the shell smash buffs just by switching in.

:sv/goodra:
And of course, people will naturally send in a special wall to try and shut down a nasty plot tornadus. This set completely bypasses all of that, and due to it's moves, it stands a fighting chance against various physical walls and obstacles in it's way, such as the newly dropped Brambleghast, physically bulky Tauros-Fire and of course, Krookodile. And as shown before, it can get the jump on set-up sweepers like the aforementioned cloyster, and even revararoom. It can even perform pretty admirably against Oricorio-Sensu, but don't expect it to win the 1v1; You can sometimes win, but it's mostly luck.

All in all, this is an effective set-up sweeper that aims to take out valuable targets such as opposing set-up sweepers and physical/special walls. It should be noted that this set doesn't perform the best against mudstale, as that's a 2 to 3HKO, and you will get OHKO'd if they have stone edge.
