Congrats to Heheus and Blissey for winning week 39! The set will be added to the Hall of Fame.

Week 40 - IronPress Zamazenta!

:sv/zamazenta:

Zamazenta @ Leftovers
Ability: Dauntless Shield
EVs: 252 HP / 88 Def / 168 Spe
Tera Type: Steel / Fire
Jolly Nature
- Iron Defense
- Body Press
- Crunch
- Heavy Slam / Substitute / Roar

Zamazenta is one of the most effective Pokemon at beating offensive teams with its great mixed bulk, IronPress, and its excellent speed tier. Its set mix is also highly customizable, being able to run Steel for extra resistances and a Toxic immunity or Fire to avoid burns, and moves like Heavy Slam to KO Fairy-types, Substitute to turn passive Pokemon into even easier setup fodder and block most status moves, or Roar to disrupt Booster Energy, 1v1 opposing Bulk Up and IronPress Pokemon, ease prediction with opposing Tera, and rack up hazard damage on its checks. What can allow offensively oriented teams to bait in Zamazenta and remove or cripple it?

The deadline for submissions will be Friday, May 3rd at 11:59 GMT-7!

So this is apparently Lure that Threat instead of Victim of the Week, oopsie.

:sv/dragonite:
Dragonite @ Choice Specs
Ability: Multiscale
Tera Type: Fire
EVs: 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hurricane
- Draco Meteor
- Roost
- Flamethrower

The gen 1 mons that aren't birds don't have good physical flying STAB options.. Zamazenta knows that too, and thinks switching in and ko'ing Dragonite will be easy. But... Dragonite decided to buy some new Specs and learn to control the storm.
252+ SpA Choice Specs Dragonite Hurricane vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Zamazenta: 438-516 (112.8 - 132.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Dondozo @ Leftovers
Ability: Unaware
Tera Type: fighting
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Relaxed Nature
- Curse
- Chilling Water
- Body Press
- Waterfall

Zamazenta can do nothing against this set, except with roar

You click curse for boosting your defense, and your attack, and body press from Zamazenta do less damage
Chilling water for lowering his attack
Body press and waterfall are for damage

Will add calc tomorrow because 11pm and very tired

:sv/Heatran:
Heatran @ Leftovers
Ability: Flash Fire
Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Iron Defense
- Taunt
- Flamethrower/Magma Storm
- Earth Power
This Heatran set only works if Heatran Tera Ghost's, but when it does it sits on Zama for basically the entire game. You of course tera ghost right when they bp and then set up an Iron defense, making Zama deal little damage to you. From there, you can taunt the Zama if you are worried about roar, while heavy slam does minimal damage even with no boosts on Heatran. Flamethrower is a more consistent option then magma storm, though magma storm can chip Zama and other things. Earth power is just good coverage and helps against tera fire Zama and helps against any partner mons such as glowking. Once Zama is taken care of, Heatran will most likely have a lot of defense boosts and be unkillable from that side. If you have taken care of special threats, then Heatran can sweep from here.

:kommo-o:

Kommo-o @ Salac Berry
Ability: Soundproof
Tera Type: Fighting
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Substitute
- Belly Drum
- Drain Punch
- Ice Punch

Kommo-o is a physical Mon that Zamazenta usually easily beats. However, this one uses Substitute on the switch and then Belly Drum. Zamazenta can,t Roar since Clanger has Soundproof. So, it will go like this.
Turn 1 (turn in which Zamazenta switches in): Substitute.
Turn 2: Belly Drum, activating Salac Berry and therefore outspeeding the dog. Zamazenta here can either break the Sub with Body Press or use Iron Defense.

Turn 3 if Zamazenta broke the Sub and Kommo-o Teras:
+6 252 Atk Tera Fighting Kommo-o Drain Punch vs. +1 252 HP / 88 Def Zamazenta: 318-376 (81.9 - 96.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery < Kommo-o recovers 54,4% at least, allowing it to live this:
+1 88 Def Zamazenta Body Press vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Tera Fighting Kommo-o: 130-154 (44.5 - 52.7%) -- 22.3% chance to 2HKO

Under this scenario, the battle ends in turn 4.

Turn 3 if Zamazenta broke the Sub and Kommo-o doesn,t Tera:
+6 252 Atk Kommo-o Drain Punch vs. +1 252 HP / 88 Def Zamazenta: 238-282 (61.3 - 72.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery < Kommo-o recovers 40,7 HP only, which the health it previously had is still enough to live a Body Press

Under this scenario, the battle ends in turn 5 and Kommo-o will have Tera preserved.

Turn 3 if Zamazenta previously used Iron Defense. Kommo-o needs to Tera. Tera Fight is the optimal one for this:
+6 252 Atk Tera Fighting Kommo-o Drain Punch vs. +3 252 HP / 88 Def Zamazenta: 192-226 (49.4 - 58.2%) -- 63.7% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery.
Zamazenta can break the Sub, but Kommo-o will recover 32,8% at least. 32,8 + 25 (health after Sub + BD)= 57,8

Turn 4 Kommo-o hits again, having a 63,7% to kill Zamazenta. If somehow Kommo-o got 2 bad rolls, Kommo still will have 57,8 + 32.8 = 91,6% Therefore, it can survive another hit:
+3 88 Def Zamazenta Body Press vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Tera Fighting Kommo-o: 217-256 (74.3 - 87.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Battle ends on turn 5 on this scenario.

Zamazenta can also use Iron Defense again on turn 3 (therefore the Sub is still alive). However, it will be worthless, since the calc goes like this:

+6 252 Atk Tera Fighting Kommo-o Drain Punch vs. +5 252 HP / 88 Def Zamazenta: 136-162 (35 - 41.7%) -- 80% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery < 100-49,4-35+12,5 (2 Leftovers recovery) = Zamazenta remains with 27,6%, it will break the Sub but will die on turn 5.

No matter what Zamazenta does, it loses to Clanger. Other Tera types possible to beat the dog are Bug, Flying and Poison, each of them resist Body Press while not being weak to any other move.
