Gen 8 Suicune QC 0/2

[OVERVIEW]
Suicune:
-Suicune is a threatening defensive win condition, able to boost with calm mind and sweep in many ways.
-Its bulk and typing allow it to easily sweep when the pokemon that can threaten it are weakened or knocked out
-It can be difficult to play around Suicune in-game, often forcing the player to make awkward plays to preserve their Suicune answer.
-Suicune can be difficult to fit on a team due to its lack of consistent recovery, but it is worth building around it on fat balance and semistall teams.

[SET1]
name: Rest+Calm mind (Crocune)
move 1: Scald
move 2: Sleep talk / Ice Beam / Roar
move 3: Calm Mind
move 4: Rest
item: Leftovers
ability: Pressure
nature: Bold
evs: 252 HP / 80 Def / 176 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
-Crocune is a sweeper that can also function as a bulky water in the midgame thanks to its ability to do lasting damage with scald burns and heal with rest.
-Thanks to its few weaknesses, Crocune gets many opportunities to switch in and threaten physical attackers.
-Pressure as an ability allows Suicune to stall its limited answers out of attacks under the right conditions.
-Once it gets a calm mind boost it can either bait in and cripple a check or go for the win.
-The EVs allow it to outspeed Modest toxtricity, but slower spreads can be created to outspeed various other thresholds like Pangoro or max speed Incineroar.
-Three of Crocune’s moves are locked in, but the fourth move can be swapped to patch various weaknesses, with sleep talk making it less passive, ice beam providing coverage and roar beating other calm mind sweepers.

[SET2]
name: Substitute+Calm Mind (Vincune)
move 1: Scald
move 2: Calm Mind
move 3: Substitute
move 4: Protect / Ice Beam / Roar
item: Leftovers
ability: Pressure
nature: Timid
evs: 252 HP / 40 Def / 216 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
-Substitute+protect costs Suicune a lot of longevity and the ability to play recklessly, but they allow it to become a more urgent threat immediately while also draining PP of potential counters more easily.
-Vincune has to be near max speed, this EV spread lets it outspeed base 80 pokemon like Togekiss and Chandelure while still having sturdy substitutes. Max HP is a necessity to get 101 HP subs.
-Vincune excels against bulkier teams which have fewer pokemon that can break a sub in one attack. Each pokemon that can’t break a sub easily is a switch in and setup opportunity. However, due to relying on leftovers for recovery, Vincune can not afford to be knocked off or statused.
-Protect is almost always required on this set, but roar and ice beam are also possibilities.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

-resttalk+2 attacks or scald and roar can be used if you want Suicune to be a pure bulky water

Checks and Counters
===================

-Grass and electric types:ly, Due to suicune's bulk, it can be difficult to outdamage Crocune's recovery without a super effective move. Because of this, grass and electric pokemon are the most reliable answers to Suicune. However, special attackers have to be wary of letting Suicune get too many boosts and Physical attackers fear a scald burn.
-Haze and phazing moves: haze and moves like roar and dragon tail on Milotic, Articuno or Guzzlord are able to keep Suicune from setting up
-Trick from choice scarf users like Rotom-Mow, Togekiss, Gardevoir or Indeedee can completely ruin Suicune, as all it can do with a choice scarf is click scald. These are easier to slot onto a team than haze or roar but can only be used once.
