Mega Rayquaza uses Substitute and Oblivion Wing to resist the vast majority of revenge killing attempts, including priority moves like Fake Out + Extreme Speed and Mega Gyarados's Sucker Punch. This allows it to sweep easily thanks to Mold Breaker, which allows it to hit opponents through Wonder Guard. Dark Void provides the free turns necessary to set up Substitute and Shell Smash; unlike Spore, it is not blocked by Safety Goggles. The recovery from Oblivion Wing not only offsets the initial Substitute damage, but also can offset damage from Curse and Will-O-Wisp. Sky Plate or Life Orb is crucial to break past specially defensive Blissey, and they help against Primal Kyogre. Sky Plate is typically the preferred option since it does not have the recoil of Life Orb, even though Life Orb sets break through Blissey more easily. If teammates can break through Blissey, Shed Shell can be run to escape various Shadow Tag users such as Regigigas, Mega Mewtwo Y, Mega Mewtwo X, and Primal Groudon. The EV spread allows it to outspeed Choice Scarf Mega Mewtwo Y after a Shell Smash boost while maximizing bulk.

Oblivion Wing Mega Rayquaza fits on a plethora of teams, from hyper offense to bulky teams, thanks to its reliable sweeping and wallbreaking prowess. It is usually run with another wallbreaker, such as Mega Gyarados, Mold Breaker Primal Groudon, Mold Breaker Mega Gengar, or Mega Mewtwo X or Y, as these options threaten special walls like Wonder Guard Blissey and Primal Kyogre. Mold Breaker Primal Groudon with Shell Smash is especially notable, as it can set up and become notoriously difficult to revenge kill. Therefore, it and Substitute Mega Rayquaza make a fantastic dual Mold Breaker core. Mega Rayquaza also pairs well with users of Spikes and Stealth Rock, such as Shadow Tag Primal Groudon and Wonder Guard Xerneas, since they further restrict its already limited pool of switch-ins. Substitute + Baton Pass teammates, like the aforementioned Wonder Guard Xerneas, make sure it doesn't have to spend a turn setting up Substitute.

Choice Band, Choice Specs, and Aerilate Mega Rayquaza can run other coverage moves to more effectively threaten a variety of Pokemon such as Giratina, Xerneas, and Arceus. Spore and Taunt may be run for disruption on Aerilate sets, but entry hazards, Boomburst, and Pursuit are usually too valuable to replace. A Jolly or Timid nature can be run on Choice item sets to outspeed most opposing Mega Rayquaza, but they sacrifice damage against Giratina and important KOs with Aeroblast, like 2HKOing specially defensive Primal Kyogre. Choice Band Mega Rayquaza can use entry hazards to capitalize on the switches it forces. Extreme Speed on Choice Band sets can pick off weakened foes: it does fail to threatens bulkier sweepers like Primal Groudon and Dialga, though Water Shuriken can be run for the former. U-turn over Volt Switch on Choice Specs sets can threaten Blissey significantly more and pivot against Primal Groudon, but the better damage from Volt Switch is usually preferred. Both Choice Band and Choice Specs Mega Rayquaza can run slower EV spreads and invest in Defense, which helps them tank hits from Huge Power Mega Gyarados, Slaking, and Regigigas, at the cost of being outsped by opposing Mega Rayquaza. Substitute sets can run Taunt over Dark Void to shut down Blissey and Giratina. Oblivion Wing Mega Rayquaza can also run Cotton Guard + Quiver Dance, which allows it to resist many revenge killing attempts that would otherwise threaten a standard set, but the longer setup time and susceptibility to countersweeps from Imposter Chansey make it a niche pick. Mold Breaker Mega Rayquaza run either physical or special Shell Smash sets with Dragon Ascent and Aeroblast, respectively, but doing so can be difficult to Imposter-proof.

Checks and Counters
===================
**Prankster Giratina**: Healthy Prankster Giratina can reliably switch into Choice Band and Substitute Mega Rayquaza to check it with Destiny Bond, Glare, or a well-timed Encore; it must be wary of Dark Void or Taunt from Substitute Mega Rayquaza, however.

**Imposter Chansey**: Imposter Chansey forces out all common variants of Mega Rayquaza. Even though Substitute blocks Imposter, Whirlwind lets Chansey tank and force out Substitute + Oblivion Wing variants if Imposter is blocked by Substitute.

**Shadow Tag**: Offensive Shadow Tag users, like Mega Mewtwo X and Mega Mewtwo Y, can consistently trap and KO Mega Rayquaza with their powerful attacks. Shadow Tag Regigigas is particularly dangerous for its reliability in removing most Mega Rayquaza with Fake Out + Extreme Speed. Perish Song + Shadow Tag users such as Lugia and Arceus can eliminate Mega Rayquaza as well, but not as reliably.

**Priority Users**: -Ate users and Mega Gyarados can OHKO Mega Rayquaza with Extreme Speed or Sucker Punch; the latter can also punish a switch with Pursuit. Mega Diancie is of note for surviving a boosted Oblivion Wing and always OHKOing Substitute variants with Boomburst.

**Blissey**: Specially defensive Blissey walls both Choice Specs Mega Rayquaza and Substitute Mega Rayquaza, though the latter can break through with good sleep turn luck.

**Stealth Rock**: Stealth Rock punishes Mega Rayquaza for its frequent switching, making it fail to survive most revenge killing attempts. Oblivion Wing sets can heal back the damage, however.

**King's Shield Users**: Activating King's Shield negates any threat that Choice Band Mega Rayquaza may pose, and can it be used to scout against Choice Specs variants.

Oblivion Wing Mega Rayquaza uses Substitute and the recovery from Oblivion Wing the Oblivion Wing recovery to resist the vast majority of revenge killing attempts, allowing it to sweep easily thanks to its Mold Breaker ability. The EV Spread allows it to outspeed Mega Mewtwo Y and Deoxys-Speed variants without Choice Scarf I think Deoxys-Speed is worth mentionning here after a Shell Smash boost while maximizing bulk. It is usually run with another Pokemon that threatens special walls, most notably Wonder Guard Blissey and Kyogre-Primal. Pokemon like Trick-Or-Treat Mega Gyarados, Mold Breaker Primal Groudon, Mold Breaker Mega Gengar, or Mega Mewtwo X or Y pair well with it thanks to this property. Good job  QC 1/2

Most of the suggestions were implemented, but not all. Mega Ray can technically break past specially defensive Primal Kyogre at +2, but it's not a great chance so I reworded to say that it helps in breaking kyogre. I didn't mention Deoxys-Speed for two reasons: if you outspeed scarf mmy you outspeed deo-s, and the specific point of the EV spread was to outspeed mmy, not deo-s. If you still think I should change this you can just talk to me on discord :)

(also reworded the cotton guard ray bit to make it more clear)

Oblivion Wing Mega Rayquaza uses Substitute and the Oblivion Wing recovery to resist the vast majority saying vast here feels misleading because lots of ates can still kill you unless you already have sub up but this might just be a minor nitpick leave it in if you want. of revenge killing attempts, allowing it to sweep easily thanks to its Mold Breaker ability. Will stamp after changes. Great job very concise and straightforward just as this ray set should be but add chatter if based

All changes were implemented, but I left out a few suggestions. Sub ray can break past spdef blissey with sleep, so I didn't include anything about a double shell smash, especially since after the second shell smash you 2HKO so you would be spending three turns to beat it anyway.

I did not mention chatter ray don't make me do that qwq

All other suggestions were implemented

**Blissey**: Specially defensive Blissey walls both Choice Specs Mega Rayquaza and Substitute Mega Rayquaza, though the latter can break through with good sleep turn luck.

**Stealth Rock**: Stealth Rock punishes Mega Rayquaza for it's its frequent switching, with the chip damage making it fail to live making it fail to survive (if you want to specify eg over time chip vs the chip from one switch into rocks, feel free) most revenge killing attempts. Oblivion Wing sets can heal back the damage, however.

**King's Shield Users**: Activating King's Shield negates any threat that Choice Band Mega Rayquaza may pose, and it can be used to scout against Choice Specs variants.

Most everything has been changed, but there are two things I want to ask you about:

I didn't include why Mold Breaker let Mega Rayquaza sweep easily. I assumed that readers would understand the Mold Breaker and Wonder Guard dynamic of Pure Hackmons, since it is the most fundamental thing about the format. Should I add it regardless?

I forgot to add that the EV spread allowed Mega Rayquaza to outspeed Choice Scarf Mega Mewtwo Y after a Shell Smash boost. This is a pretty important speed tier for Mega Rayquaza to reach, should it still be removed?

yes to first. analyses are one of the most approachable ways for new players to engage w smog / with metas (no forum navigation, no talking on sim or disc needed, easier googling, easy to just wander around and bump into stuff, etc. speaking from experience here), so even elementary things like that can go a long way to help new ppl go from thinking “idk wtf is going on” to “hmm maybe i can kind of figure this out and engage more”. you don’t need to spend super long explaining, a v brief phrase in the vein of “getting past ubiquitous wonder guard users” is plenty fine.

for the second, i meant to readd ev sentence at the end of first paragraph, oopsies. just readd it there, make any changes ud like, and remove “with the remaining evs” part bc that’s pretty self explanatory once u see the spread. Also “spread” should be lowercase
