Welcome to the new subforum for the SS ZeroUsed OM! We are the Other Metagame that functions as the usage-based tier right below PU. In this thread, you can find all information about our tier and any important announcements for our tier will also be posted here!

There are two main criteria/guidelines to qualify for council: knowledge and activity. Knowledge refers to one's level of metagame knowledge and level of understanding with respect to tiering. These factors are difficult to quantify so we tend consider and analyze posts, lines in ZU's room and Discord (i.e during metagame discussions), and any other relevant factors such as tournament results and competency as a player. Keep in mind that while this is subjective, exceptional users stand out and we're always keeping an eye out for up and coming users.

Activity refers to one's level of involvement in the community, namely through posting in the ZU forums (specifically the viability rankings and metagame thread), the ZeroUsed room, and the ZeroUsed Discord. That being said, activity is more about quality than quantity. For example, substance is more important and valued than simply being an active user. There is not a number or quota that potential members must meet, it's more so that we look at activity levels over a period of time (i.e 2-3 months of consistent activity) alongside the quality of one's contributions.

For defining threats as broken, uncompetitive, unhealthy, or other such terms, we refer to the Tiering Policy Framework.

Rules

As with every community on Smogon, we expect the users that stop by our subforum to adhere to Smogon's global rules, which can be found here.

Additionally, we request that you follow some simple etiquette when making a post.
  • Always ask for permission from one of the forum moderators before making a new thread.
  • Be respectful of others when making a post. This is not a forum for angry call-outs or aggressive arguments.
  • When posting in a discussion-heavy thread, such as the current metagame thread or the Viability Rankings, do your utmost best to make posts with thought-out content. Any post that is interpreted to be inappropriate for the discussion, made in jest, or posted without any thought or reason behind it is subject to moderator discretion.
  • Do not post threads for teams in this forum asking for rates. Use the RMT forum for this instead.
  • Do not make a thread to ask a simple question. We have a thread made for answering questions that you can find here [link to SQ&SA].
The forum is overseen by its moderators. Anyone who wants to post a thread must receive permission from one of them.

Social

The ZeroUsed Discord has been a staple for the community and serves as a place to chat with the rest of the user base and serves as a medium for various projects such as analyses and tournaments.

We also have our very own room on Pokemon Showdown which you can find here or by simply navigating the Pokemon Showdown chat list. Our room sports a healthy environment for getting involved in the tier with a staff that's prepared to help you with any questions you may have.

Upon reviewing the OP, I realized that I missed including the guidelines used for council nominations/promotions. First and foremost, council nominations and promotions are collective decisions made by council. Someone makes a nomination and we review and discuss said candidate. It is all a case by case basis.
