Arena: ASB Arena
Surrounded by thousands of screaming Pokemon fans, the ASB Arena can be best described as a standard Pokemon battling arena. In the center of the arena lies a dirt-based floor outlied to show two separate sides (with a white Pokeball center). Surrounding the dirt is a moat filled with water. The moat is about fifteen feet wide and creates a perimeter around the dirt arena. The arena itself is eighty feet wide, one hundred feet long. All moves, weathers, and abilities are legal for the match, since it's an outdoor arena with a large water source and packed dirt. Pokemon must stay in the arena (or the dimensions of the arena in the case of Flying Pokemon, who cannot leave the arena and cannot fly higher than sixty feet). This prevents Pokemon from injuring the crowd watching the tournament. There are no outside interruptions by fans, Pokemon, or other elements not associated with the current battle.

Team YellowAdminSilver
Rinkah was the first Pokémon to join Silver's team after leaving his hometown. She comes from a very traditional family and has a strict sense of honour, which is why she aims to travel the world in search of combat that will bring glory for herself and for her House. Rinkah is typically stern and calm; however, combat is her greatest release. In the midst of battle, she usually drops her serious demeanor and becomes much more relaxed, mainly because she can rarely keep herself from laughing in the heat of battle. All the guts, all the glory is her favorite phrase, and it kinda makes her wish she had Guts. Peanut butter on toast is her favorite food.

Hello, and welcome to ASB BBP's inaugural Sword-Shield tournament! Brought to you by your moderately skint ref - who feels he should point out that he's not actually wearing any pants behind this desk. See: Skint.

On my left hand side is Gemini Taurus, a trainer who has only recently returned to the fold. I think - then again, my definition of 'recent' is perhaps changed by the fact that I've been playing ASB since some players were literally in their nappies. On Gemini's team, I'm most interested to see how the Slowking-Muk-A core plays out, a defensive pairing that looks tricky to break... though, of course, without completely fluid switching it could all fall apart.

On my right is YellowAdminSilver, who has been henceforth banned from naming Pokémon.

... you mean I have to finish this blurb? Fine then. Pangoro may be the key mon on YellowAdminSilver's team here, who's SE STAB on Slowking, Bewear, and Golurk gives YellowAdminSilver a decent amount of late-game flexibility in matchups, preventing them from being backed into an unfavourable matchup - there will be no Paras vs. Charizard finale here!

(Though honestly I once saw a match where if the Paras hadn't goofed in the last round it'd have managed to pick up a win against a Mega-Charizard-Y so I mean anything's possible if you Beleive!)

...

...

Anyway, let's pick who sends out first, and who's ordering first! Now we toss the traditional coin.... well, we would, but Rai Stones are a bit heavy, so we'll use a penny instead, which is also my life's savings.

Heads for Gemini Taurus to send out first.
Tails for YellowAdminSilver to send out first.

Sending out Hibiscus the Rotom @ Washer | Magnet!

Hibiscus on Hibiscus or your feet smell (ง•̀_•́)ง

"Hey look Hibiscus! They want to fight you! Unfortunately we've already established the scent of my feet by now, so lets save you for later!"

"Go Sequoia the Golurk, show them that ancient machines can keep up with the modern ones! Oh, and take this Luminous Moss while you're at it!"

***[CASOA] IF Rotom is to use Protect AND Rotom did not use Protect the previous action, use Stealth Rock the first instance and Phantom Force the second instance

Actually, I changed my mind and ASB is bad, we should be more like cartridge on type interactions, such as Levitate and Ground moves. Dogfish please refrain from reffing this until my proposal goes through policy implementation, thanks.

"Woof, this is much worse than I envisioned and much, much worse than I would like. "

"I get the feeling this isn't about the battle anymore."

"Well, it was about the battle going badly, and then my house caught fire and my crops withered."

"Sheesh. You should try to relax. Drink some tea, the new guy might be able to help."

And we're off! Sequoia immediately takes up a defensive position as Pepper throws the hear at Sequoia. And, the second that the barrier breaks, Pepper is table to take advantage of Sequoia having... No Guard!... and launches another rush of flames, leaving a lasting burn on the golem.

However, Sequoia is able to retaliate with a couple of massive tackles, even through that weakening burn, blasting straight through Pepper's attempts to force that burn to flare up with a powerful hex!

I'd say the round went to Sequoia, but that burn surely leaves open a route to catch up for the Rotom? We'll find out more... after this commercial break!

For the crowd, if they've still got two order sets up: A ruling bizarreness over Substitutions, Me First, Time Travel, and Tap Dancing required a reorder as the vagueness was... too much. Bah humbug.

Earthquake - Drain Punch - Stomping Tantrum
[IF] a damaging Poison-type move is used [AND] not in a combination [AND] you would move first based on speed order, use Dig on the first instance, Dig on the second, Drain Punch on the third, replacing the rest of your main orderset with Drain Punch - Earthquake on each instance

Subs #2 and #3 check at the start of the action pls =) i guess #1 too but that could go without saying? idk I'm new here

Rock Tomb - Gunk Shot - Gunk Shot

In a round that goes in favour of Rinkah, Rocky Helmet seems to be doing wonders for Pangoro, luring Hydrangea away from the contact moves that have a strong hit rate, and into using a Gunk Shot that narrowly misses me.

At this point I genuinely just keep a brolly to protect against flying bits of sludge.

Anyway, Rinkah makes the ground - and Hydrangea - shake in a round that was decidedly in their favour. How will Gemini Taurus respond?

All rolls use a d10000 unless otherwise stated - usually for Confusion Rolls and the like.

Action 1:

Pangoro used Earthquake!
Crit (<=416): 7470
(10 + 1)*1.5 = 16.5 ~ 17 Damage
-7 EN
Muk-A used Rock Tomb!
Hit (<=9500): 1790
Crit (<=416): 3019

(6 + 1)*2/3 = 4.66 ~ 5 Damage
-4 EN

Action 2:

Muk-A used Gunk Shot!
Hit (<=8000): 8754
Oops
-7 EN
Pangoro used Drain Punch!
Crit (<=416): 9483
(8 + 3 + 1 + 1) = 13 Damage, 6.5 ~ 6 Healing
-11 EN

Action 3:

Muk-A used Gunk Shot!
Hit (<=8000): 450
Crit (<=416): 9180
Poison (<=): 4689

(12 + 3 + 1) + 4 = 20 Damage
-11 EN
Pangoro used Stomping Tantrum!
Crit (<=416): 1465
(8 + 1)*1.5 = 13.5 ~ 14 Damage
-7 EN

I saw this was an easy looking reffing. Sorry :-(

Also I'm 99% sure I've reffed this right - when a move fails because Taunt was applied, it's my understanding that no EN is deducted based on the handbook.

On the positive side - I got to make a Pixie Dust sprite, since that's Not A Real Item In-Game.

Oh, ouch. Hibiscus attempts to both mock and scare away Nagisa... and whilst the Kerfluffle is intimidated, the calming Veil of Aromas that surrounds it prevents it from getting too riled up as it blasts Hibiscus twice. However, detecting some form of sneaky manouvre as she prepares to leave the field, Nagisa gives some of her own mockery in return, stunning Hibiscus into silence!

I think this is the first round that went decisively in one trainer's favour - but as Mamoswine is forced out, I don't think Gemini could have gotten a better roll. Let's see how this turns out!

All rolls use a d10000 unless otherwise stated - usually for Confusion Rolls and the like.

Action 1:

Kerfluffle used Moonblast!
Crit (<=416): 3384
Lower SpA (<=3000): 6927

(10 + 3 + 2)*1.5 + 4 = 26.5 ~ 27 Damage
-6 EN
Bewear used Taunting Roar!
Kerfluffle will switch out at the end of the Round!
Kerfluffle is immune to Taunt [Aroma Veil]!

-26 EN

Action 2:

Kerfluffle used Moonblast!
Crit (<=416): 2080
Lower SpA (<=3000): 808

(10 + 3 + 2)*1.5 + 4 = 26.5 ~ 27 Damage
-10 EN
Bewear cooled down!

Action 3:

Kerfluffle used Taunt!
-10 EN
Bewear used Pain Split!
Except it didn't
