SS RU Speed Tiers

This thread is used to keep a comprehensive list of the Speed stats of all relevant Pokemon within the SS RU metagame, categorized by the Speed stats on their various sets. Speed creeping is advised against here, rather, if you seek to creep something, use this as reference. Let me know if I missed anything!

I've done pretty big overhaul to remove dated speeds. Generally, I removed a lot of unviable pokemon/sets (based largely on VRs, though I did spare a few things). After that, I added the new speeds from the tier shift. If you disagree with any of these decisions, or if I missed anything, let me know!

I've seen Alcremie and Ferroseed on ladder with some frequency, and they have a defined enough niche that I feel they could be put on here. Alcremie runs 0 speed (or a little creep, but dont include that ofc) and can be a set-up mon on stall teams due to CM and its Taunt immunity; Ferro can set hazards, leech / Knock / status stuff (though Xatu beats it), and check mons like Rotom-Mow & Garde/Goodra(although coverage beats it). Neither is very good so it's not a huge deal, but both definitely have roles in this meta.

Gourgeist-Small should for sure be added, it's the fastest viable Ghost-type in the tier and can hit respectably hard with a Choice Band. It is on the VR.

Kingler can probably be removed but I don't have a strong opinion on this. We have a lot of other, more viable offensive waters, though.

So with speed tiers updated, I figured I'd post some speed benchmarks for some of the more flexible mons on the VR.

Dragalge can run 36 Spe to outpace uninvested Druddigon
Dragalge can also run 64 Spe to outspeed Adamant max Speed Escavalier
Copperajah can run 76 Spe to outpace uninvested Gastrodon
Barraskewda can run an Adamant nature for additional power, but finds itself outsped by Inteleon
Bewear can run a Jolly nature in order to outspeed Jolly Goluk and Scrafty
Lycanroc can run an Adamant nature on sand teams, but finds itself outpaced by Virizion, and +1 Scrafty outside sand
Mantine can run 16 Spe to outspeed Adamant max speed Rhyperior and Dhelmise
Mantine can run 32 Spe to outspeed Adamant Araquanid to prevent it from toxic stalling with subs assuming Mantine has Air Slash
Centiskorch can run an Adamant nature, but it ties with Golurk and fails to outspeed Jolly Bewear and Scrafty
Xatu can run 16 Spe to outpace Jolly Golurk
Golurk can run a Jolly nature to outspeed Adamant Bewear and uninvested Silvally, Xatu, and Arcanine
Umbreon and Vaporeon can run 56 Spe to outpace Adamant Dhelmise, Golisopod, and Rhyperior

i think it's ideal to include as many things as possible, even if they're less relevant in the meta.

My main concern is that I dont want to clog the speed tiers up with irrelevant stuff theres a 1/500 chance of you actually running into, as this can be confusing for new players and make it harder to find what you're looking for. But I can definitely understand this perspective too, of wanting to have everything that might show up present.

Not really sure what to do here, my thoughts are conflicted. I'd be glad to hear some more opinions on the matter.

hi hailfall just wanted to remind you to update this post for current meta. also i noticed a decent amount of mons listed here are not particularly relevant to current ru metagame, i'm not sure how exactly you run this thread so maybe this post won't be that helpful or accurate but i'll make a dropdown list of the big ones i noticed for ease of access so check it out if you want to

funny title

• in tiers 0 & 2 - not legal in ru
• in tier 2- this thing might be viable but i think it's worth reviewing anyways since i have not seen anything relating to inteleon in ages
• in tier 2- not ru viable
• in tiers 4 & 5, i cannot think of a single use for running max speed on this in current ru
• in tier 6- not ru viable
• in tier 6- not legal in ru

Other funky fresh business:
• Does Heliolisk need a mention with Durant in tier 2? I barely see this mon.
• The same deal with Entei and Ninetales-Kanto in tier 2, although I suppose there's probably a few legitimate arguments for these mons.
• and are legal in RU again! Probably good mons to add to this index, especially Ninetales-A given that it currently stands as RU by usage and is (arguably) the best hail setter to pair with things like Arctozolt.
• New Choice Scarf users might be popping up in the new metagame, those are worth keeping an eye out for as well.

Oddly, Seismitoad and Drednaw have 542 Speed with Swift Swim on Max +Spe (Faster than +Spe +1 Starmie by 1 and Neutral +1 Aerodactyl and Neutral Swift Swim Kingdra)

However, they will only have 494 Speed on Neutral.
