Silvally-Psychic @ Psychic Memory
Ability: RKS System
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Multi-Attack
- X-Scissor
- U-turn

nominating vally-psychic as an offensive check to specs mr. rime. vally can switch in on both specs psychic and focus blast with ease, even with rocks up, and retaliate with either x-scissor (instead of crunch to bypass potential colbur berries on other psychic types) or u-turn, both of which can ohko at +2. specs ice beam and shadow ball from rime are guaranteed 2hkos back on vally however, so you must play correctly vs it!

252 Atk Silvally-Psychic X-Scissor vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Mr. Rime: 180-212 (59.8 - 70.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 Atk Silvally-Psychic U-turn vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Mr. Rime: 158-186 (52.4 - 61.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
+2 252 Atk Silvally-Psychic X-Scissor vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Mr. Rime: 356-420 (118.2 - 139.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO
+2 252 Atk Silvally-Psychic U-turn vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Mr. Rime: 312-368 (103.6 - 122.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Pikachu @ Light Ball
Ability: Lightning Rod
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Fake Out
- Extreme Speed
- Knock Off
- Volt Tackle

FreekachuPikachu is here to put Mr. Rime in check. While everything (including Shadow Ball, which has a 68.8% chance to instantly KO) Mr. Rime has holds killing power, Pikachu has speed on his side, being able to KO with a Knock Off or Volt Tackle, depending on your line of thinking: Knock Off for if you'd care to let something else lose their item if they want to switch out, or Volt Tackle for sheer power

252 Atk Light Ball Pikachu Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Mr. Rime: 314-370 (104.3 - 122.9%)
252 Atk Light Ball Pikachu Volt Tackle vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Mr. Rime: 289-342 (96 - 113.6%) -- 75% chance to OHKO, guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock

Nominating AV Dusknoir as a counter to Specs Rime
1591107688125.png

Dusknoir @ Assault Vest
Ability: Frisk
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Shadow Sneak
- Earthquake
- Ice Punch
- Power-Up Punch
Dusknoir serves as an excellent counter to Mr. Rime, as both of its STABs do unimpressive damage, it’s immune to Focus Blast and its SE coverage move in Shadow Ball can’t even 2HKO Dusknoir. In addition to this, Dusknoir’s STAB Shadow Sneak will ALWAYS move first and cleanly 2HKO Rime. Power-Up Punch raise attack, although it is often unnecessary. Earthquake barely misses out on the 2HKO, and Ice Punch is just there for coverage.
252 SpA Choice Specs Mr. Rime Shadow Ball vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Assault Vest Dusknoir: 120-142 (40.8 - 48.2%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
252 SpA Choice Specs Mr. Rime Psychic vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Assault Vest Dusknoir: 102-120 (34.6 - 40.8%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
252 SpA Choice Specs Mr. Rime Freeze-Dry vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Assault Vest Dusknoir: 79-94 (26.8 - 31.9%) -- guaranteed 4HKO
Mr. Rime Focus Blast vs. Dusknoir: 0-0 (0 - 0%) -- possibly the worst move ever]
252+ Atk Dusknoir Shadow Sneak vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Mr. Rime: 152-182 (50.4 - 60.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ Atk Dusknoir Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Mr. Rime: 127-150 (42.1 - 49.8%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
252+ Atk Dusknoir Power-Up Punch vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Mr. Rime: 51-61 (16.9 - 20.2%) -- possible 5HKO
252+ Atk Dusknoir Ice Punch vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Mr. Rime: 48-56 (15.9 - 18.6%) -- possible 6HKO

Well, here goes an offensive check for Mr. CRime:

Linoone G.jpg

Linoone-G @ Toxic Orb
Ability: Quick Feet
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Sp Def / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Knock Off
- Facade
- Taunt/Switcheroo
- Parting Shot

So with the good ol Toxic Orb set you can get an OHKO most of the time and a guaranteed one after a little bit of chip (like 10%) with Knock Off, and you will always outspeed Rime with or without your ability activated. Facade is there to get some STAB and it can OHKO 12% of the time after Rocks damage.

Parting Shot is a nice way to keep the offensive momentum; and the last slot can be filled depending of what you want to do with this average sized racoon. Taunt can prevent a switch in from setting up, Switcheroo to cripple something that comes in.

And let's not forget the fact that it is inmune to both Psychic and Shadow Ball so it has an easier time getting in.

252 Atk Linoone-Galar Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Mr. Rime: 270-318 (89.7 - 105.6%) -- 31.3% chance to OHKO; guaranteed after Stealth Rock; guaranteed OHKO after 1 layer of Spikes
252 Atk Linoone-Galar Facade (140 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Mr. Rime: 195-229 (64.7 - 76%) -- 12.5% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock

Scarf Stonjourner as an offensive check
Stonjourner @ Choice Scarf
Jolly Nature
Ability: Power Spot
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake
- Heat Crash
- Stealth Rock

Not much to say here, can't believe I got this pick as well. Heck, you OHKO with the two super effective moves so you dont even have to worry about Rime's offensive power. I think Rime is sadly easy to beat offensively because of its bad defensive typing but hey.
252 Atk Stonjourner Stone Edge vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Mr. Rime: 404-476 (134.2 - 158.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 Atk Stonjourner Heat Crash (120 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Mr. Rime: 324-382 (107.6 - 126.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Heavy Slam can be used over heat crash but for now i'll stick with heat crash. Heavy slam also has the same calc.
Now that you know how this works, please vote for this most straightforward, viable, fast, threatening and stonehenge nomination :D.

Seriously though, thanks for reading, hope you enjoyed.

Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 176 HP / 120 Spa / 212 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk

Scarf heatmor can kill mr rime easily ( 120 SpA Heatmor Overheat vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Mr. Rime: 326-386 (108.3 - 128.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO ) by outspeeding and ohkoing mr rime with overheat. the evs are to not get ohkoed by it, kill it and outspeed it. the other 3 moveslots are the only coverage heatmor gets.

hi! so yeah this is still a thing, but due the meta changing a ton there's (sadly) no point in having a voting stage for last round. anyway, this round's victim is...

:bw/bouffalant:
bubblegum bitch (Bouffalant) @ Choice Band
Ability: Reckless / Sap Sipper
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Head Charge
- Throat Chop
- Earthquake
- Close Combat / Megahorn / Toxic

one of pu's newest additions, bouffalant has already proven to be an incredible breaker with its choice band set, allowing it to plow through some of the tier's sturdiest physical walls like tangela with a reckless-boosted stab head charge. however, it's quite easy to take advantage of once it's locked into a move, and its mediocre speed tier leaves it prone to getting revenge killed by faster threats.

submission phase ends thursday evening, lmk if you have any questions! good luck, and have fun!

Holding on to Dubwool

dubwool.gif

Dubwool @ Leftovers
Ability: Fluffy
EVs: 96 HP / 252 Def / 160 Spe
Impish Nature
- Cotton Guard
- Body Press
- Payback
- Rest

How do you keep all that puffy hair in check? With a bunch of puffy wool. If Close Combat is absent though, it slides closer to being a counter. But alas...
All it takes is a turn to puff up the cotton guard, after which Dubwool's not taking any bull, dispatching him right away with a Body Press. Also, I'm not sure who came up with the "standard" 152 EVs in speed, but 160 EVs (giving him an extra 2 points in speed, chipping his HP down to 309) helps him edge out Hitmonchan and full-speed Flareon.

252+ Atk Choice Band Bouffalant Head Charge vs. 96 HP / 252+ Def Fluffy Dubwool: 103-122 (33.3 - 39.4%)
252+ Atk Choice Band Bouffalant Earthquake vs. 96 HP / 252+ Def Dubwool: 115-136 (37.2 - 44%)
252+ Atk Choice Band Bouffalant Close Combat vs. 96 HP / 252+ Def Fluffy Dubwool: 138-163 (44.6 - 52.7%)
252+ Atk Choice Band Bouffalant Megahorn vs. 96 HP / 252+ Def Fluffy Dubwool: 69-81 (22.3 - 26.2%)
(Throat Chop's not even worth mentioning, besides that it merely prevents the use of Sleep Talk on the first turn of Rest)

252+ Atk Choice Band Bouffalant Head Charge vs. +3 96 HP / 252+ Def Fluffy Dubwool: 42-49 (13.5 - 15.8%) (even the damage calculator goes into "Possibly the worst move ever" territory with this)
252+ Atk Choice Band Bouffalant Earthquake vs. +3 96 HP / 252+ Def Dubwool: 46-55 (14.8 - 17.7%)
252+ Atk Choice Band Bouffalant Close Combat vs. +3 96 HP / 252+ Def Fluffy Dubwool: 56-66 (18.1 - 21.3%)

252+ Def Dubwool Body Press vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Bouffalant: 168-198 (50.7 - 59.8%)
252+ Def Dubwool Body Press vs. -1 0 HP / 0 Def Bouffalant: 250-296 (75.5 - 89.4%) (this is after he hits something with Close Combat, which comes with an 18.8% chance to KO after a layer of hazards)
+3 252+ Def Dubwool Body Press vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Bouffalant: 416-490 (125.6 - 148%)

Dusclops @ Eviolite
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Bold Nature
- Toxic
- Seismic Toss

- Sleep Talk

:dusclops: makes up for a great check to Bouffalant, as it can come in on its physical normal-type move in head charge and its ground-coverage in earthquake very easily, while threatening bouffalant with a toxic which puts this bull on a timer or it can use seismic toss to slowly wear down its health. furthermore dusclops can switch into throat chop as the maximized ev-stat and eviolite allows it to tank a super effective throat chop fairly easy. but dusclops has to be wary about switching into a throat chop when it is already weakened due to entry-hazards or chip damage. close combat also wont hit dusclops and its other coverage in megahorn will not do much damage either. when bouffalant uses toxic dusclops is still able to cure the toxic with using rest, therefore dusclops is one of the best checks to bouffalant.

calcs:

Check. Falinks doesn't want to take any hit from Banded AfroBull since it just flat out hurts. Even Head Charge OHKOs, so a safe switch in for this thing is required. Should that happen, Falinks easily outspeeds and OHKOs even with an unboosted CC despite Bouff's already great natural bulk

check. could be a counter but it can easily get overwhelmed by throat chop + rocks after it has consumed its colbur berry, as well as potential toxic damage. everything else does pitiful damage, although megahorn forces u to synthesis. probably the best "switchin" the tier has to offer to bouff after dubwool, although still a rather shaky one. the set itself doesn't need much explaining, with synth providing recovery, wow burning stuff, and foul play being its best option in the current meta.

the winners are dubwool by Rubicon and dusclops by Katy. congrats! your submissions will be added to the archives (when i stop being lazy)

this week's victim is...

an excellent typing, setup move, and respectable attack have made klinklang one of the tier's best defensive pivot and setup sweeper. however, its overreliance on toxic to get past its would-be answers have led to multiple pokemon starting to run rest. due to its average attack uninvested, even boosted, klinklang has trouble with getting past even its offensive checks.

:mareanie: is a solid counter to klinklang as it has a great bulk with the eviolite and gear grind isnt super effective on mini pex. furthermore it is able to scald-burn klinklang which makes klinklang unable to function as a lategame-option. furthermore mareanie can setup toxic spikes to annoy klinklangs teammates, regenerator and recover makes up for mareanie's potential to always counter klinklang. haze is great to swipe away the boosts klinklang got due to the use of shift gear. overall mareanie acts like a great counter to klinklang.

I nominate defensive Throh as a counter to Klinklang
1600265361680.png

Throh (M) @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Guts
EVs: 244 HP / 252 Def / 12 Spe
Impish Nature
- Knock Off
- Circle Throw
- Rest
- Sleep Talk

Defending Calculations:

0 Atk Klinklang Gear Grind (2 hits) vs. 244 HP / 252+ Def Throh: 86-104 (19.4 - 23.5%) -- approx. possible 5HKO
+1 0 Atk Klinklang Gear Grind (2 hits) vs. 244 HP / 252+ Def Throh: 132-156 (29.8 - 35.2%) -- approx. 7.2% chance to 3HKO
Rocky Helmet damage to Klinklang on on Gear Grind: Approximately 33%

Attacking Calculation:

0 Atk Throh Circle Throw vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Klinklang: 116-138 (35.8 - 42.5%)
Defensive Throh with a rocky helmet poses multiple challenges to Klinklang. It is safe to switch in any time that Klinkland is in, as it is 5hkoed without setup, and likely 4hkoed if Klinklang uses shift gear on the switch. With rocky helmet, Klinklang takes ~33% damage every time it attacks Throh. If it chooses to set up instead, it is heavily damaged and phased out with circle throw. If it chooses to toxic stall, Throh reveals rest and regains any lost HP.

Unlike other Pokemon that use rest to nullify toxic, Throh is not a momentum drain to its team. Sleep talk is a fairly free moveslot for Throh, and allows Throh to threaten damage and phasing while asleep. Throh is also a nearly mandatory slot for hazard stacking teams, meaning that you don't have to build your playstyle around a niche Klinklang counter. For these reasons, I think defensive Throh is the best Klinklang counter in the current meta.
