Project SS Monotype Community-Create-A-Team

This week we built a Dark-type team around smub's Moltres-galar + Grimmsnarl Core

:moltres-galar::grimmsnarl: + :krookodile:
We started with the makings of a Hyper-offensive team, so we started by adding a suicide/Taunt lead. Krookodile acts as both our Electric-type immunity and stealth rock lead. Knock off adds some extra utility to annoy teams trying to deal with rocks.

:moltres-galar::grimmsnarl::krookodile: + :hydreigon:
Hydreigon is a staple special wallbreaker on dark. We decided to go with a Choice Specs set. We decided that Flash Cannon was our best option for the last slot, as it allows Hydreigon to KO Wheezing-galar and other fairy types that might normally switch into Hydreigon.

:moltres-galar::grimmsnarl::krookodile::hydreigon: + :urshifu:
Urshifu's strong Fighting- and Dark-type STAB moves, priority, and sweeping ability made adding it here a no-brainer. We decided to run a Black Glasses set to maximize our potential in the steel matchup, and to abuse Grimmsnarl's Screens. Also, Urshifu looks good in shades

:moltres-galar::grimmsnarl::krookodile::hydreigon::urshifu: + :sharpedo:
Our final addition is quite interesting. Sharpedo's speed and Water-type attacks allow it to put in work vs many types, Hydro Pump and Earthquake allow sharpedo to deal with fast Electric-types.

:moltres-galar::grimmsnarl::krookodile::hydreigon::urshifu::sharpedo: + :crawdaunt:
After playing with the team, it struggles a lot vs fast fairy and fighting types. I think adding crawdaunt over sharpedo could help alleviate some of the speed control issues. The team did end up performing well.

:ss/mareanie: :ss/foongus:
Foongus @ Eviolite
Ability: Regenerator
Level: 5
EVs: 124 HP / 156 Def / 156 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Spore
- Giga Drain

- Foul Play / Sludge Bomb
- Synthesis

Mareanie @ Eviolite
Ability: Regenerator
Level: 5
EVs: 196 HP / 20 Def / 92 SpA / 180 SpD
Bold Nature
- Scald
- Sludge Bomb / Knock Off
- Recover
- Toxic Spikes / Knock Off
Stolen from the standard Amoon + Pex core as Foongus helps with Swords Dance users like Pawniard, Corphish, and Grookey and spreads status with Spores and poison from Sludge Bomb. Mareanie also spreads status with Scald and Sludge Bomb and has useful utility like Toxic Spikes and Knock Off. Its quite clear that this core suffers by being Psychic spammable so adding an immunity is only optimal. Bolded text is unchangeable.

Thunder

Kingku ke charan pranam
Desolate land Volcarone Fire (AAA)
:ss/volcarona:
Volcarona @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Desolate Land
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Quiver Dance
- Solar Beam
- Psychic
- Fire Blast
Desolate land is a great ability for volcarona, boosting its fire moves power while giving it a water immunity as well, further enabling it to use solar beam as a coverage move for ground and water types, but moves can be change according to need.

Sturdy Smash core

Dwebble @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Sturdy
Level: 5
EVs: 36 HP / 236 Atk / 236 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Shell Smash
- Rock Blast
- Earthquake
- Protect

Tirtouga @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Sturdy
Level: 5
EVs: 84 HP / 212 Atk / 180 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Aqua Jet
- Shell Smash
- Earthquake
- Zen Headbutt

Many times a user of sturdy is needed to stop a power that is dangerous (shell smash, swords dance, nasty plot), so here I bring a core with two users of sturdy + settup. Adamant dwebble +2 at his speed manages to pass base 19 with the choice scarf item, after having his shell broken he can have 1 hp, so the protect can be interesting, mainly because of fake out or even to see the opponent's set. Tirtouga is a slower settup but with enormous potential, it may be important because of its aqua jet. Dwebble may have x-scissor to be able to hit grass types, but this attack doesn't seem as viable as an earthquake or rock blast.

Choice Band Aerodactyl+No Retreat Terrakion Rock (STABmons)

Aerodactyl @ Choice Band
Ability: Rock Head
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Head Smash
- Brave Bird
- Accelerock
- Earthquake

Terrakion @ Lum Berry / Air Balloon
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Diamond Storm
- Close Combat
- Earthquake
- No Retreat

Rock was easily my favorite type to use in STABmons during Gen 7, and now it got a ton of its old toys back to use this gen as well. With access to Head Smash and Brave Bird in conjunction with Rock Head, Choice Band Aerodactyl is capable of pulling off absolutely insane damage to compliment its already amazing Speed tier. Priority Accelerock is helpful for some emergency revenge killing, and Earthquake provides nice coverage for Aegislash, but you can mix and match that moveslot with some other options like Fire Fang as well. Its partner Terrakion has been provided with a neat new move from Gen 8, being No Retreat. This allows Terrakion to function as a solid late-game sweeper with some pretty good setup opportunities as well, given its already decent bulk combined with No Retreat's defensive boosts. Diancie being allowed back in also frees up Diamond Storm for it, giving it an accurate and powerful Rock STAB move to abuse. Lum Berry lets you avoid status while Air Balloon can give you an opportunity to set up in front of some Ground types locked into their Ground STAB, like Choice Scarf Excadrill or Landorus-T. It's super awesome seeing Rock get all these cool new options, and there's a lot of room for variety in team options as well. It'll be cool seeing what we can come up with.

:foongus::mareanie: + :stunky:
We started out with an amazing defensive utility core, but we needed an immunity core as well. Stunky is a Dark-type with access to great coverage moves. We decided to run a mixed Defog set to maximize utility.

:foongus::mareanie::stunky: + :croagunk:
Next we added Croagunk. Croagunk's setup potential and Fighting-type STABs makes it a great inclusion to poison teams. We decided on a physical bulk up set to help beat specially defensive tanks who normally threaten Poison-type teams.

:foongus::mareanie::stunky::croagunk: + :salandit:
Next we added Salandit. Salandit's Fire-type coverage and speed makes it a staple on LC poison.

:foongus::mareanie::stunky::croagunk::salandit: + :koffing:
Finally, we added our Ground-type immunity. Koffing is by far the best option here. We decided on a bulky offensive set utilizing wil-o-wisp for some extra utility.
We had a lot of great buidlers help this week!

Specs Froslass Ice

Froslass (F) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Cursed Body
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Blizzard
- Shadow Ball
- Psychic
- Trick

I like using this Froslass set on Ice. With its helpful offensive utility and really nice Speed tier, it does really well in matchups such as Fighting, Ghost, and Water, being especially helpful at dealing with Keldeo and pressuring Ghost teams without fear of being crippled by Sableye, which Kyurem-B and Weavile often struggle with. Even in matchups where it fails to offer a strong offensive presence, being Steel and Dark, it still finds a role for itself by Tricking a component of their defensive core. With Froslass being Specs, it can free up the hazard stacking role it used to fill for Cloyster, while also putting less pressure on Kyurem-B to run Choice Scarf for Keldeo. It'll be nice seeing what we can come up with for this.
