Spiritomb @ Aguav Berry
Ability: Infiltrator
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 Def
Adamant Nature / Brave
- Pursuit
- Sucker Punch
- Foul Play / Psychic
- Will-O-Wisp

Spiritomb has solidified itself as one of PU's best Pursuit trappers thanks to its great bulk, useful resistances, and access to priority. Spiritomb pressures common Psychic- and Ghost-types, such as Mesprit and Oricorio-G, which it then Pursuit traps to pave the way for teammates like Primeape. With a Ghost / Dark typing that stops spinners like Hitmonchan and access to strong priority that threatens faster foes such as Magmortar and Pyroar, Spiritomb stands as a versatile Pokemon for many balance teams. Spiritomb's moveset has also adapted to include the increasingly common Psychic to allow it to take advantage of previously common switch-ins like Gurdurr and Weezing. With Infiltrator and Sucker Punch, Spiritomb pressures Substitute Pokemon like Jynx and Mesprit, and its presence has affected the viability of Substitute + Calm Mind users in general, with Pokemon like Oricorio-G unable to use Substitute to get around Sucker Punch. However, Spiritomb struggles to break defensive walls such as Ferroseed and Gourgeist-XL, and it is also easily pressured by Fairy-types like Clefairy, which can freely set up against it; however, wallbreakers like Magmortar, Aggron, and Kingler can be used to get through them.

This isn't much more than basic set explanation, doing Spiritomb and not talking about how the frequency of spinblocking, pursuit and sucker punch changes the meta just feels like a massive waste, especially when there's nothing of note here.

Agree with zard. Tomb often has a role in picking off checks or counters for other pokemon, see pass and tomb from the previous meta, so something on that would definitely be appreciated.
