I bet y'all thought this was another meme but no it's a very long shoutout post.

Words cannot express just how happy this season has made me. Wolfpack were a true blessing and I absolutely loved my teammates. I told Tony before the draft that I was lowkey expecting to go undrafted after FV and I weren't picked as managers, but he managed to grab me near the end and I can't think him enough. Jokingly, I can now say that as a player, I have a 100% win rate in SPL both in terms of my personal record and then my team getting the red in the end. We had so many games and discussions and memes that continued to make me cry while laughing and I love how we're still doing it even after the tour is over. The last 3 months have been an emotional roller coaster with a few bad turns and a lot of insanely happy ones. I had lots of days/weeks where my motivation or attitude/mood weren't really there for most things on Smogon and irl, but no matter what, I was always happy with the Wolfpack. Near the end, the Wolfpack was probably my only source of happiness, but my teammates gave me so much joy and happiness that I can't stop smiling. I've also laughed more in the last 48 hours than I have in all of 2020. I love each and every one of them and thanks to them, my outlook on life and Smogon went from nothing to super positive. Thank you guys for everything, and best of luck with everything you do from here on out. You all deserve nothing but the best because you all are the best.

I'll go ahead and include some memes I made and then some funny logs if I can find any. I also never did OST shout outs, so I'll briefly include those at the end.
I saw mael's avatar differently than most people:

Me in the car during semifinals:

This is what it's like to test with ABR:

Happy Birthday Tony!

The only team I made all season:

Tace trying to calc something:

Bouff asked if we could draw tonight, but it was a school night:

I started off the season pretty well:

talah posted some win in the commencement thread instead of the week thread.

5 minutes before talah played 100p for finals tiebreak

There's plenty more from our drawing sessions, but I'll let Tony take care of those

TonyFlygon / SSJ Tony / Afro Tony / Gangster Tony / Birthday Tony / Beard Tony / Monocle Tony / Straw Hat Tony / Dragonball Tony / French Tony / Chef Tony / Sombrero Tony / Cowboy Tony / Twister - I said this before, but I honestly don't feel qualified in the slightest to ever manage again after seeing what you did this season. You are on an entirely different level than any other manager, and I don't think that'll ever change. You crafted a championship winning team, you built a fun environment from day zero (one that stayed active from start to finish without missing a beat), and you constantly encouraged and checked up on us while roasting ABR at least 36000 times. It's hard to go into another tournament without you as the manager because you are invaluable in every regard. I'm happy my first team tour win was with you and Gary, as you both were with me in my first team tour (Snake 3). I loved that team a lot and I managed to love this one even more. So many positive things came out of a single team tour and I seriously don't even know how this was all possible. If I had to start guessing reasons, they'd probably all boil down to the work you and BKC did with drafting the team. I had a ton of fun, I managed to enjoy prepping current gen OU (which almost always goes bad during every tour but never once did in this one), I literally learned 2 play, I got my first individual SPL win, and now I have my first trophy. I know I did some work too, but all of this was only possible because you and BKC created this team environment. I won't ever stop being thankful and I wish you the best of luck with everything. Also enjoyed seeing you put in 48 hours of work in each day with working full time + chatting with us + scouting + prepping + doing everything else you do. You are truly something else and I'm glad I know you.

BKC / The Goat / Dragon Tail - We didn't talk too much this season but I enjoyed the times we did a lot. Smogon makes us suffer in similar ways and it's fun to have someone likeminded. As I said above, I can't and won't stop being thankful for what you and Tony did this season with drafting the team and building an incredible environment. The work you and the others put in was off the charts and I especially enjoyed seeing our ADV games (I'd include GSC but Sand Attack quickly changed that). Our current gen slots worked pretty well, but you and Tony and ABR and everyone put in absurd results with past gens, especially in finals where we could not have been able to tiebreak without you guys doing what you did. I'm glad I got to know you a little better and I'm also very happy you also managed to win your first SPL too. I haven't been around for that long, but I'm sure this reward was satisfying as hell. Good shit this season and happy birthday!

ABR / SSJ12 Breezy / Heroic Breezy / 36KARAT Wolf / Clangorous Soul - You were someone I always wanted to team up with and it was really cool getting to work with you officially for the first time. I was expecting to get carried a little harder but you managed to accomplish something I doubt any other player could accomplish and continue to unite a team with your struggles. Thank god you can take it, but I really do believe our team was only as successful as it was because you gave everyone a reason to continue having fun and active and all of that. That being said, it would be silly to ignore how valuable you were with helping prep in past gens and especially SM. It felt a little weird not seeing you active in current gen OU, but seeing you put in massive work in SM and the other past gens more than filled that void. Looking back, I honestly think you had the biggest positive influence on the team environment, and that alone made us so much better and made this season more memorable than imaginable. I honestly enjoyed the last tiebreak week the most and had a lot of fun testing with you and Star. No matter what the result was, the work you put into that last week was inspirational and I was very happy that I could go into this weekend feeling very confident in our tiebreak. It's easy to feel nervous going into it, especially with 2 SS OU slots after losing 0-3 in SS the previous week, but talking and prepping with you and Star and talah erased those doubts and filled it with confidence. I don't think that's easy to do at all, so seriously, thank you for working hard this season. Record wise I'm sure you'll bounce back in no time, although I'm sure you're not worried about that given you have more total team tour wins than the rest of the team combined. I hope we team up again since you were an absolute blast and I'm glad my first time with you was as amazing as it was. Also apologies in advance, but the god pack is taking our meme game up a notch and we can only enjoy ourselves because we love you that much. Ok thinking about it now, while you might not be our most valuable player, I think you're our most valuable team member because of how much you single handedly united the rest of us. Tony and BKC did a great job with drafting the team and the environment, but you kickstarted us off on the right foot after week 1 and we love you so much for that. It takes a special kind of goat to have your team have this much fun, and you're in a class of your own when it comes to that.

talah / Lisa / Eternabeam (more Lisa) - ABR may have brought our team together the most, but I think you were definitely our MVP or at least one of our MVP's. You single handedly carried our SS OU slots and did so in a way that kept the energy going from start to finish. Your creativity and dedication were off the charts and unlike anything I've ever seen before. I think it's safe to say you are going to be one of the most valuable current gen players going forward. If you can repeat what you did here in for other teams, then you're always gonna be scary to face. I think you did a great job during snake with how you stepped up big time in the last half, but you really managed to outdo yourself here. 8 wins, especially one from finals tiebreak, is something worth celebrating a lot, so I hope you remember this moment and cherish it for a long time. You had a lot of tough opponents too, including lax twice, but you kept on winning with new and creative teams and every week was exciting. I'm very much looking forward to seeing what you do from here on out and I will always be rooting for you (and Lisa).

Tace / Dragon Energy - I was partially excited to team up with you and ABR because it felt incredible to have world's luckiest Ice Beam users on the same team. Sadly neither one of you got lucky this season, but it's okay since you both carried in different ways. You had a rough start but bounced back in a huge way. I don't just mean the game against Ox where you came out hot with Hydreigon, but every game starting from that one was sensational. My favorite games were probably where you beat John W in the regular season and we had defeated the Tyrants 6-2, and then your semifinals game against Garay since you were the closer there. Oh actually, the PENGROWTH LOL. Ok that wins by a long shot, and I'm beyond happy you were able to pull that off. You're really young but really good and you're only gonna get better as you grow older. Best of luck with everything except when you're playing me ;)

Bloody alfa / Alfa mael / Max Wyrmwind -
I had fun teaming up with you for the first time since CPL 3. I was originally hoping to draft you myself if I was managing, but we got united through Tony and I think we both an incredible time in our first SPL as players (both of us drafted for the first time). You started off incredibly hot and I think your game against Luthier was the early pivoting point that saved our season. I remember believing the season was over earlier that day since we were down 2-5, but you not only clutched that win in dominating fashion, but you started the wolfpack kiss of death and that alone made our season so much more lively. You also finished with an incredible 6 wins and went positive in your first SPL, and I think that's quite the accomplishment. You and Tace and talah can say you not only won SPL, but you all finished with better records than ABR. He was unlucky, but it's the thought that counts. I loved how much you tested this season and I'm also pretty sure I lost all 10 or 15 of our test games LOL. I got smashed by y'all so much I'd probably start to feel bad if it wasn't for OST.

Seriously cannot understate how much fun I had working with the current core. You guys put in some mad work and the results were phenomenal and all of that while messing around and having fun is like a dream come true. I doubt I'll have anything as fun as this was, so thank you for setting the bar incredibly high and letting me be apart of it.

Relous / So Leru / HP Dragon - I still can't believe how amazing you were this season. Not only did you finish 7-2, but you literally did not lose a game after Week 3. I was a little worried before the tour started since I know you did well in the snake we faced each other when you had Ojama supporting you, but the previous SPL didn't go so well. ABR was with you this time so I was thinking you'd be fine, but instead, you went on to smash the SM pool with Gliscor and Volcarona left and right and it's just amazing. I'm running out of positive words to describe everyone, but you were seriously awesome and you saved us time and time again, especially in finals. Being down 2-4 in finals was incredibly scary, but you played that game against Sabella really well and you started our come back. We for sure would've lost the tour if you weren't with us, so thank you and ABR for going above and beyond in SM.

Dragon Claw / DRAGON CLAW - THE GOD CLAW omg. I think I've said someone saved our season at least 3 times before, but your game in semifinals was easily one of the biggest and best games we had. I'm pretty sure 90% of everyone, both spectators and some of us on your team thought the game was done after you got mad unlucky, but you kept fighting and pulled off the greatest come back I've ever seen. I think you improved a lot through out the tournament and I was really happy about the cool teams you used and the way you played. I said it before, but no other ORAS OU player was/is willing to use Talonflame or Mega Manectric, but you used both and won in a well played game. I love both of those mons very much and it takes a special kind of player to win with them, so thank you very much for being amazing. You will forever be my favorite ORAS OU player, and I'm looking forward to seeing what you do next.

GaryTheGengar / gary the carry / Roar of Time - I said it in PM's, but winning my first tour with you and Tony is such a wonderful feeling. You both were with me for my first team tour (Snake 3) and I loved that team a lot and had fun even if we struggled a lot. This time around we not only had even more fun, but we won the whole thing too. You stepped it up big time and your first game giving us our first team win was very satisfying. You faced some nonsense in Cloyster 3 times, which alone would probably send most people to retirement, but you managed to finally beat it in finals and that win against Cloyster felt like 10 wins. We struggled immensely together the first time, but now I feel very happy with how we both are, how we play, and how this victory slightly makes up for some of our struggles in the past. Spectacular job this season and I'm hoping we enjoy some movies together with Ophion soon.

shawyu 1313 / Dragon Pulse - We didn't talk much during this SPL but you were absolute fire when you played. That first game against Soulwind was beyond crazy and I know the ending wasn't great, but you played a phenomenal game and my opinion of you started off high from the get-go. Your log while being drunk was the first hilarious thing of the season and that made me love you immediately. Your win early on helped a lot because without it, we would've started off the season 0-2 and we would've struggled mentally for how knows how long. We might've even missed playoffs if we felt that bad. Every win mattered in the end, so thank you for winning. Hope we talk more in the future because you're a really fun guy and I like having you around. Best of luck with everything!

mael / Alfa mael / Outrage / Dragon Darts - gmm. You probably had the roughest season out of all of us. Every game was cursed with some form of luck, and the early freezes were easy to tilt from. Fortunately for us, you kept fighting and came up huge in finals. You and SMB stepping up and winning in finals is bigger than what's on paper since without y'all, we would've lost 2 weeks ago. I enjoyed my mornings with you and it was always fun saying good morning to you before I went to sleep. I came close to joining you and ABR in the OST champ group, but I still got things to improve on. Maybe one day I'll get there, so I hope you're still around for whenever it happens. If never, then I hope we at least team up for something again in the future. You're also a fire chef and make a lot of good looking food. Every picture you sent looks gorgeous and if I ever visit Europe, I'm for sure stopping by.

Star / Starmaster / the master of stairs / goatmaster / carried ABR like no one else / Spacial Rend - thank you for having enough wins to make up for ABR's record. I've always known you were a star player (pun intended), but you really outdid yourself this season. You finished with a very strong record in a tough ADV pool, and then that last game is still unbelievable. You had every reason in the world to get nervous and mess up, but you didn't. You played it just about perfectly and won us our trophy after ABR stirred the plot and added an extra week to finals. I enjoyed working with both of you a lot during that last week. I've tested with a lot of people but no one smashed me as quickly and as frequently as you did. I'm very happy you got your first trophy as well, although I'm sure you would've preferred having to work a little less harder for this one than you did. Out of all us, I think you definitely earned this trophy the most. Congrats on finishing with the best record and for having twice as many wins as ABR. Good luck with everything, and thank you for beasting and feasting this season.

SMB / SMBoat / Dragon Rage - I know this season was rough for you with misfortunate left and right, but you were still an important part of our team victory. You won at the best times when we needed you, and we wouldn't have this trophy if you didn't step up in finals. I always enjoy watching RBY and I think you made some really really cool plays this season. I learned a new mechanic from you as well (hyper beam not needing to recharge after breaking sub). Even ABR has his bad tours, so don't worry too much about this one. You and everyone here is very capable of bouncing back and I think you did great this season, and you'll do even greater things in the future. Buena suerte con todo :)

Leru / Treecko Solo runner / Dual Chop - I'm glad I got to meet you in UU snake before SPL started. We had some fun there with Dragon Claw and the others and it was nice. You were definitely a lot less suspicious to me after that and I'm glad I had nothing to worry about in SPL. Well done beating Emerald with just a level 5 Treecko. I said it was impossible and you won and I got OWNED. You were fun to have around and you gave SMB the break he needed to clutch things up in finals, so good job with that.

Quaze / Core Enforcer - I'm glad we were reunited after things didn't work well last SPL. You were just as fun as last time and even more this time. You have a lot of cool ideas and I think you were helpful down the stretch with prepping and testing as well as morale with some funny logs. I hope someone helped you with your physics homework because I sincerely forgot about it the moment talah's game started. Your game in Week 9 was pretty nice and the earlier one against Pietro was sad but also really funny long term with how Medicham missing HJK became our meme for a while. We were both able to make up for last SPL with this victory here, and I hope we both continue to do well in the future :D

Mana / Dynamax Cannon - Great to see Mana having such an insane profile picture with how dedicated he has been, looking forward to seeing how the rest of the tournament shakes out. You and Bouff and col49 made our team 10000% better from the start. You guys were really fun to have around for regular/casual discussions, as well as prep-related things too. You made building in SS way more enjoyable with your creative ideas and it meant a lot to me to have teammates that were literally open to almost anything. We spent so much time messing around, but also an equal amount of time winning, and I think you really contributed a ton to making our chat environment as enjoyable as possible. I would absolutely love to be on another team with you or have you around because you were just that much fun.

Bouff / Devestating Drake - This is gonna sound weird as hell, but I feel like you're one of the more human or natural people on here. By that I mean it's really easy to resonate or sympathize with what you say and it also makes you really easy to get along with. It's a great thing, so don't worry as I mean it in the best way. After 48 hours of meming and laughing about ABR, I've had my fair amount of fun. I think you're nice to talk to and it's easy to have a relaxed conversation about anything with you, which is a really nice thing to have in someone nowadays. You're plenty of fun too and the last few days and weeks have reminded me of how great everyone is. It's easy to be happy when you're around, and I appreciate that. Also a huge thanks for building and testing with us. It helps me and the others a lot by having more people around to help out for testing and you and the others did a fantastic job this season helping out.

col49 / Dragon Rush - Happy Birthday! It's really cool to find out you and BKC share the same birthday. Like Bouff and Mana, you were an amazing addition to our chat and made our environment so much better. I enjoyed seeing you and BKC talk about movies and I recently starting watching some more movies myself (granted it's all anime). Thanks for the fun chats and I think you're pretty down to earth and nice to have around. A lot of us get excited too quickly so it's nice to have someone keep us in check or be around to make sure we're not going too far. You and Tony are alike in that way and I think it's something necessary most people don't notice. Hope you enjoy your birthday and every birthday to come.

roscoe / Dragon Dance - I've heard a lot about you in the past so I was pretty interested in meeting you when you joined. I don't think we really talked, but it was cool meeting you and thanks for joining!

Heroic Troller / Dragon Hammer - Thanks for helping out with RBY. I know we still struggled but it was cool having you around and I appreciate everything you did. Your meme game is as godly as you play RBY and Monday was insane with how fun it was, so thank you for meming with us. I'm always rooting for you since you're the most exciting RBY player to watch imo, so I hope I get to see more of you in the future.

Excal / god mami chan / Scale Shot - Thanks for joining near the end. You've been a fun addition to the chat and the DPP help definitely paid off as well. I'm glad our team is still active since we get to talk and laugh more together and it's cool having you around.

OST Shoutouts:

I'll start with the individuals that helped me or kept me motivated to keep going and playing better, and then I'll write something about the run.

So Noisy - here's the shoutout you wanted. I had a lot of fun with you and curi in the ou team tour and it was really cool getting to see both of you improve from start to finish. I know I malded halfway through, but you guys turned things around and put on an enjoyable show. I also appreciate you beating me with my own team 10 games in a row. I was able to feel confident enough to use that team multiple times in OST and I felt very comfortable with it because you kept owning me with it.

curiosity - we've had our ups and our downs and a lot of noisyownage, but you and Noisy are basically my building partners on here and I'm grateful to have both of you. I have fun every day thanks to you guys and laser. OU's more enjoyable for me because you guys are here and I'm hoping we keep up the good days going. We're both getting better and I think we'll have more fun crafting better teams and I look very forward to it. World cup's gonna hopefully be a lot of fun for all of us.

FlamingVictini - we didn't really do too much, but you helped a lot with playoffs. That one suggestion for top 16 ended up helping me win game 3, and I managed to successfully use hyper offense for the first time thanks to you advice you gave. Top 4 didn't go so well but you helped a good amount and I am very thankful. Also could not be anymore thankful for introducing me to the other pogo guys. Nowadays that chat is one of my most active ones and I enjoy pogo a lot and everyone in there as well. Pogo is one of the few things I can constantly stay excited about, so thank you for being my fellow pogo noob with that. Shoutouts to Phil and Volk and tennis and everyone for the support and all the fun memories. I hope we make many more together.

Thank you to those that sent cheerful or supporting messages. I've spent most of my time on here losing, and it felt good knowing others were happy to see my finally start winning a little. I'll do my best to keep up the pace from here on out.

Also wanted to give a special thank you to a lot of friends including the OU & RMT mods, and jcbc, Ophion, Stoward, Punny, umbry and emma, all of whom are fun to be with and have helped me get through some tougher and sadder days. Love you all <3

Last but not least, I have to thank everyone on the Snake 4 Cobras for a great and fun experience. Team tours are hit or miss and the past world cup was more of a miss, but you guys were a blast and I got my first snake win as well and I learned a lot from you guys. This SPL and OST I was only able to do a good job because of the experience I gained with y'all and I wanted to say thank you for that. Love y'all and especially VGC Goat Prinz

I did way better than I expected and originally I wanted to help FV win 2 OST's in a row, but he didn't even sign up. I then made it my goal to enjoy the tour and try and face a good player like Ojama or McMeghan at some point. I came very close, as one of my opponents was the player that had defeated Ojama 2 rounds prior, and had I made finals I would've faced Empo. Either way, it takes a good amount of skill to beat another good player, and I respect every opponent regardless of whomever it is. I think for me the turning point where I started playing better was after I faced Laurel. I respect him as a player and from the replays I had seen, he was basically making all the plays I would've done and I was pretty nervous since I knew he would be tough. I think halfway through our series I got really really nervous and hesitant, but managed to get lucky and survived that round. At this point I knew I couldn't afford to be nervous again, and like I did in the previous snake, I started eating a banana before every series to help calm my nerves down. My middle school band teacher told us the potassium in bananas can help with nerves, and I think it works or at least helps me with mine.

Playoffs were kinda hard to prep for because I was struggling badly with coming up with new teams. I had been reusing the same teams a lot and when I was preparing to face Adaam, I noticed we used a lot of similar things and I tried to avoid using those teams. Ultimately the night before, I slapped 6 mons together at 6 AM, sent it to FV, and then adjusted to his suggestions and it worked out. Granted the timer for sure got in the way and ironically the timer would come back to get me as well in semifinals. Top 8 and Top 4 I continued to struggle with building new teams, and I noticed a lot of others recycling or slightly adjusting previous teams and using those. I feel like it's a cool strategy since regardless of the matchup, you need to play well and using something you're comfortable with helps a lot with that. For semis, I unfortunately got forced out of town for the weekend and didn't have much time to prep, but either way, I think Lord Enz did a fantastic job of preparing his teams and I loved seeing someone use their creativity to gain an advantage in the builder. Honestly, Lord Enz and Empo's creativity is what's giving me hope that SS OU will be fine in world cup. It's easy to look at it and struggle with building new things like I did, but those 2 went beyond what others would and finals was enjoyable and I think they're both amazing.

Congrats again to Empo for taking the trophy home, and seriously huge props to Lord Enz for going 7-2 in playoffs (he won 7 games in a row and it took Empo of all people to hand him his first loss) and his phenomenal run. I don't think anyone can say they swept someone as good as Empo with Lando of all mons, so you should be very proud of that. Looking forward to seeing you both in world cup and the future after that.

---

I'm amazed I didn't break the character count this time. Thank you one last time to my fellow SPL champions for being the most amazing and lovable team I've ever been with. You guys are a true inspiration and my best source of happiness and I love you all. Hope you all enjoyed (I bet 90% of y'all skipped to the bottom) and I hope you have a wonderful rest of the day.

Hey everyone,
It's time to personally close out this tournament with everything that led me here, it's been an unimaginable ride.
First of all ggs Tyrants you were incredible opponents and the hardest challenge we had to overcome.
I put the shoutouts in spoilers, simply open the one you think you're in if you're tagged, didn't necessarily want to make this thread a scrolling-simulator. Yes they're going to be corny but all of this does mean a lot to me so it's not surprising isn't it.
Thank you to all other competitors who make this tournament what it is, this place is peak pokemon and competition, whenever SPL comes around you know it's time to celebrate the best of what most of us enjoy as a hobby.

Steve Angello CrashinBoomBang hey my role models. Wouldn't be writing this post if it wasn't for you two. Started playing on PS back in Autumn 2014 and there were plenty of crucial moments that led me to where I am today like bluri fishing me out of the german room to introduce me to xray, cosine and smogon tour but what made me come back in 2019 was you two telling me of your SPL adventures a few years prior. The most elite tournament, gaming with all kinds of insanely good people that reach all around the globe it sure is exciting isn't it.
Steve, first of all, fuck you for insulting my mom whenever I got a crit, miss or made any type of play that made you look bad when testing for wcop 2016. This is retaliation time as fuck you washed old crusty crab. I didn't understand much of what it took to rock the red SPL trophy after you won SPL VII with the Sharks but I sure as hell knew it was awesome. Switching places with you the past wcop, supporting you with teambuilding and tests to follow it up with two awesome wins felt extremely good and it was awesome teamwork. Hope you have a banger day wherever you are
CBB, you have my utmost respect. The crownless king, the god without halo. You telling me stories of jerking with the core members of SPL VIII Scooters 2 months before the start of SPL in 2016 is the key reason of me wanting to play this tournament. Dedicating whatever time you use for pokemon solely to your friends striving for the same goal, trying to enable each other as well as possible to climb all the way up to the top. You taught me what this means and facing you has always been the hardest challenge of playing SPL. I didn't end up getting the bold this finals but our game was an extreme banger and going toe to toe with you in the best oras game which could've ended up going either way with some less pokemon-factor or some even more insane doubles was the cherry on top of my season. You deserve a trophy but you do not need one to be the most inspirational oras player. You single-handedly made hundreds of players try to get to this stage over the years and watching you brings joy to anyone who likes to see fun pokemon battling. I'm glad I met you bro, you too have a banger day wherever you are

Lord_Enz Padox esche Liones
enz and padox my juniors I went ahead and grabbed the first one. It being the red is as predictable as it is fitting. Knowing you two you're not going to be satisfied until some pixels appear under your name so good luck in the endeavours. Lorenz, you were so close but Empo was a different beast. Losing sucks but you also collected an insane amount of wins, some cash and the respect of a lot of players you originally looked up to. You're kind of a pex spammer so I mostly quit watching the games midway LOL but believe me I'll always be there to gas when you're playing. I know of a trophy tour that starts late june and coincidentally it's the tour a player you look up to the most won. Your conquest may have just begun this OST.
Padox, I bet enz is grabbing his one first. You'll hella catch up if you're determined so stop jerking so much and get actually good. Always a blast to have you around, never ever would I have imagined to find a friend this good when hitting up a random 4G3NC Padox for IPL '19 simply because he had the tryhard agency in his name. I'll always be there to help and gas you my man.
esche, feels like you've been my best friend here for a long time now. You're always kind and wholesome. I don't think you're specifically out for a trophy or anything similar but you enjoy the heck out of past gen lower tiers and I'm following you just to not miss all of your posts since they're written with so much dedication and joy. We don't share tiers but we do share the same mindset. Glad to have met you my absolute bro
fabi, not entirely sure whether you'll see this or not but if you do best of luck in whatever you're doing. You're my day 1 friend and i'll do hell and not mention you for being who you are. It's been a while but thanks for a lot of enjoyable days grinding the midladder and oras OLT.

Hey. I don't think you've been particularly involved in smogon tournaments these days but I'm the current wolfpacks oras player and we've just won this iteration of SPL with the Starmaster clutching tiebreak 3 days ago. Watching you (or appearing in one of your lives), listening to glitchxcity oras remixes or the fairy tail hip hop one, hitting up the oras ladder after coming home makes up a good portion of why I'm still in love with everything oras offers. I haven't been following for a long ass time now but you're still pumping out videos, showing how immensely fun competitive pokemon can be. Since you're a former pack legend i'll let you know, the pack is now tied with the ruiners and sharks for the goat franchise with 3 tournament victories. You still inspire a lot of new players to get good, you're a goat in your own right. Have a nice day wherever you are and whenever you read this

SoulWind McMeghan thelinearcurve
SW, you define what the best means to me, your undefeated run last year is what made me choose to give it my all to win this one, it was fucking obvious I wasn't near the top yet. If I had to choose one line to write i'd choose to gas GOD BORJA. You're just that good. You're also not posting much and hella mean to not-kong. Gas your past years teammate some more I very well remember you gassing me GODZENGEL when I icepunched the landorus and yet I haven't seen a single THE GOD CLAW this year my disappointment is immeasurable.
On a more serious note I'm happy to be in the place you were in 3 years ago, your name is hyperlinked to success. You're also pretty nice when one shares the same jerk/team and you're not busy roasting get better. Being on the same team last year was a blessing.
Roro, linear, I think what you two are doing in ADV is absolutely fantastic and your love for the adv tier or gen3 as a whole is something anyone can look up to. Due to the game and tournament we play, we're neither teammates nor opponents and it's hard to get to know certain people but I have no doubt whatsoever I'd get along extremely well with both of you considering the way I handle my own tier. Both of you are inspirational players in their own right and although both of you, especially roro, have achieved a crazy amount of things I would sure hope to watch both of you play more and maybe get a chance to team up with you if I do decide to continue playing whenever I feel like it.

all of you are friends and opponents i've met along the way and whatever we did, whether it was battling, teaming up, building or chatting it was always a blast on my end. You're all amazing people and contribute to making this big community as great as it is. I'm happy I met you at some point of the road. Special shoutout to Eternal Spirit you asshead you really made me love that post by tagging me huh. Getting drafted by you in the untours and performing well in all of them was super fun and valuable. Thanks for keeping quiet about them, low prize tag allowed me to play with all of these awesome teammates and it worked out just as planned. I sure dipped from everything else as well, only playing the untours and grinding 95gxe oras ladder pre-spl but you were essential. You do type a bit too much nonsense but you're also a really nice person whenever you choose to be and i'm glad I got to meet you.

Excal Wasn't sure about the decision of you joining in finals but watching you, kev and mael build dpp together was beautiful. Thanks for helping enable maels potential, very appreciated.
Heroic Troller the honorary wolf. having you around as soon as ruiners season was officially over was simply really nice. Even if it didn't improve rby record on paper much, everything prep-wise started falling into place as soon as you and smb got to work together. Records don't really tell the story of how a season went but when mentioning them i'll just include that yours are damn impressive for what's a tier that presses you to play with and around the pokemon-factor as much as no other. You're also the living example of how it doesn't matter and that chaining wins without getting impossibly lucky is perfectly possible if you're good enough at RBY. You're a great person to have around, especially the last 2 days revising memes and suddenly kicking off a whole ABR roast compilation with TPP was extremely entertaining.
col49 You always give off the vibe of being super chill talking about movies with kev or whatever but it totally feels like there's this extreme pokemon madman beneath the skin that either achieved what he set out to do a long time ago or is currently planning to absolutely demolish the upcoming Smogon Champions League. Maybe a bit of both. Not quite sure but it's pretty easy to grasp that you love pokemon and 100% know what you're talking about whenever you do decide to give input on pokemon-related things. Apart from that having you around was simply great and i'm thankful kev and tony invited you to hang out.
Bouff I didn't tell you but I always wanted to get to know you better and it dates back to oras-me following your grand slam runs. I'm relatively sure you were in VoD as well which I obviously was a huge fan of, if not, my bad. You totally carried general chat activity, even if there wouldn't have been any problems either way. But the more the merrier and you totally invested a lot of time to help get tests done in whatever tier. I remember you helping me test as well and it was hugely appreciated. You don't get a trophy to show for your efforts but you truly were a member of our team and I hope joining the pack brought you as much joy as it brought us which is the only thing that matters.
Mana hey my man. Maybe the real blessing of having Tony as manager was getting you in the chat for free. Not only did you, similar to bouff, carry general activity but you gave big time input in adv as well. Chatting with you about the old oras ou room times or old oras metas was incredible and I'm glad I got someone to share these memories with. Not to mention that it's obviously been nice to just have you around, you being the cheerful person that you are. You're still hungry so I'll try to watch whatever tour you're attempting next, be it wcop or classic.

TonyFlygon Here we fucking are Tony. Trying to describe our season in a bunch of words will be a futile effort but what a ride it's been.
We secured regular season first place and won the whole thing. Still the biggest victory we accomplished was having a season this awesome.
Getting to know you was one of the most fun things ever, it's been an absolute banger. My big birthday bro, I didn't anticipate finding friends like you and adam at all even when I had the hunch that following kev was the way to go. Generally all of this was beyond my wildest imaginations.
You're an absolute stud, calling with you and others on multiple gamedays was great. You fostered this team environment or rather, this environment of a group of friends, tryharding to claim the title as the best pokemon players on the planet. I know I don't have to but I want to thank you for what you've done as a manager when it came to all of drafting, preparing teams and creating a winning atmosphere through speeches, backing us whenever scheduling issues popped up or simply messaging your players pre-game to make sure they were feeling good.
You made sure your players kept a healthy mindset when luck didn't go their way in previous weeks, you let each and everyone play and prepare they think was best and/or they enjoyed the most and made sure to act on it whenever the slightest inconvenience happened. Your dedication to whatever you're doing is tremendous and it takes a special type of leadership to have all the goat players eat out of your hand and beg for more.
You're the best manager of all time but titles don't mean anything do they? You're my friend and I'm beyond proud to have shared this experience with you. I'd say stay who you are but that would be a bit counterproductive wouldn't it considering you're the type of person that constantly tries to up himself as well. Instead I'll just say I have no idea what the future holds in store but as sure as the sun is to rise tomorrow you are sure to give it your best in whatever you're doing. I wish you all the best, partner

Quaze It was so great teaming with you bro. You're a great addition to any team, especially when you get excited and start to abnormally gas your teammates. You're also deserving of the biggest question mark-ping of the season, trying to induldge into physics 5 minutes before talah's finals tiebreak game lmfao. What an absolute waste to have you sit on the bench the majority of the tour. Blame Tony and Kev for being too good in what they're doing. I'm sure you don't regret being drafted by us though, seeing as how we ended up winning the whole thing. You were craving for games and personally it fired me up even more to give it all I've got because there was this hungry beast begging to play if I or generally one of the stour gens started to shit the bed. Your input was valuable as were your tests and questions, that made me elaborate and question the theory behind our oras team prep. Especially when it came to the most crucial weeks, tiebreak especially, you absolutely carried tests in all stour gens and you're absolutely deserving to have your smogon profile painted red. You're a hungry fellow as well, wouldn't be surprised to see you claim an individual if you set out to tryhard for one. You'll also be guaranteed to start if you decide to play another teamtour which I think is the case. I'll be rooting for you

shawyu 1313 LMAO my man 41 the wizard. You were the most hilarious person to grace our teamchat, everything from your chinese text signs to writing "with" as "wiz" thus personally gaining the nickname the wizard to you pronouncing jägermeister, I swear it's a banger whenever you're around. Tragic you didn't get more games in but that's the case with all of our subs. I still remember your game week 1 vs SoulWind which featured one of the best early game sequences from all of us, you absolutely dismantled borja holy shit. Didn't end up winning the game but you sure as hell left an impression and redeemed yourself the week after with the seismitoad team if I remember correctly. Your timezone sadly forced you to either stay up late into the night or to chat in your mornings but you always made it happen, you're a certified bro for doing so. I'll be sure to taste some of the chinese food you mentioned and I'm definitly going to visit the ramen street you recommended

Leru I completely burst out in laughter seeing you getting drafted to the same team I was in. Who would've thought I'd have you accompany me again. A welcome surprise obviously. As soon as I saw you drafted I knew our time teaming together would be crazy enjoyable whatever result. I swear you still do the weirdest shit that will end up throwing me off but at the very least it's guaranteed to never get boring as long as you're around. Whenever you didn't invest time into rby you carried general activity, test games, contributed various ideas to different channels and even acted as a sort of pseudo-manager when someone asked a scheduling question when tony or adam weren't around. Should've been expected considering you were so good at scheduling they had to serve you a tourban to stop you. I didn't expect you to actually get playtime in rby but you did and you sure showed everyone you're easily good enough to be a starter of your own right. You didn't end up getting bolded but your games were phenomenal and all of us who have been watching know they were. Thank you for relieving SMB's shoulders a bit and you know you're just as much part of SMB's finals win as he is himself. We made sure you also feel that way. Enjoy your second trofi

SMB clutch win one and a half weeks ago. You're the quiet type of person so you didn't end up communicating too much outside of rby but watching you work with tony and leru was amazing, even more so after troller joining. I know of your rby exploits prior to SPL and it's obviously suboptimal that this tour didn't go your way due to multiple and hard-to-pin-down-reasons but you redeemed yourself hard by clutching your finals games. You went in with an alpha mindset too, truly admirable. Watching you spam wolf emotes after winning when you're the last person i'd expect to do so was a minor highlight. You're a very wholesome person and I wish you good luck and success whereever life or pokemon is driving you next

TPP Speaking of wholesome persons you take the crown my friend. Anyone who was voting for Tony as nicest user of the website, I'll let you know, he devilishly enjoys roasting ABR while TPP actually felt bad about it after creating the most cruel meme of em all LOL. Your scouting might have surpassed Aurella's matrix and you'd be surprised if there was an actual statistic that showed how much influence your effort had in us getting ss wins. You even grabbed one of your own, congratulations. Your dedication is near-unmatched and it seems like having this fun a season fueled your fire to make every team you plan on being on in the future as good as this one. I'm rather sure you'll get mentioned in the same breath as ABR BKC TDK CBB MCM and whatever else great 3 letter name you can think of if you decide to strive to become the best. I don't actually know what you're setting out to do now but if I remember correctly you're trying to get US South back together to not only redeem past years showing but also bring back the glory days of south winning wcop which I think was the case about 10 years ago. If anyone can do so, it's you

Tace I didn't know anything about you pre-season but it was a pleasure to get to know you. Generally the SS-core worked really well together but you especially stepped it up after w2 and started bringing in tons of dubs as well. You were always there to gas, carried your own building, tested for your own as well as other slots, helped with ideas and helped switching around slots in week 9 that allowed me to rest a week and focus on different things. That was also the week you won with pengrowth, seems like it was a massively positive juggle. Literally the ideal teammate. Not entirely sure what you'll do from now on but you're at two trophies already and it doesn't seem like you're planning to stop playing anytime soon. I'm plenty sure you're going to add some more to your collection as long as you feel like playing. You clutching in semis shows you can step up in do or die games as well which is big to have on any type of team. Good luck with whatever you're pursuing next

Bloody alfa :amenodoremi: not even remotely sure what that emote is for or why you're addicted to using it but it sure sums you up well. You're definitly the hypeman of the team, gassing everything at sight. We could for sure count on you to ask "gaming? LESSSSSSSSS GOOOOO" whenever our cluster of matches started happening. You did excellently for your own first SPL and your playstyle matches your personality. I especially remember a game from earlier on where you were volturning all over your opponent, getting every play right for like 20 turns. You helped me testing as well, had your own ideas in the builder which made building for talah a lot easier and totally carried chat activity and general positivity.
Thanks to Tony for creating the opportunity to get to know you, was a blast teaming with you pal

mael what a season it was man. Whenever gameday was on and your scheduled time drew close we could count on it being a banger. A lot of games didn't go the way we wanted but the amount of pokemon-varience-factor in your games was for sure above average and let at least half maybe more of your games drift into super weird scenarios. I remember you playing great week 1 and 2 games, both won and both lost due to a hydro miss and a double freeze. Sure we knew it was a suboptimal start and annoying, but you toughed it out and kept playing really good games until either your plays were rewarded with good fortune yourself or you beat your opponent with good plays and good prep alone. Speaking of prep watching you build with kev, sometimes with adam and with excal in finals was a satisfying view. Competitively this was a great season of yours, topped off with a clutch finals win. Seeing you offer whatever help you were able to provide in other tiers whenever the opportunity was there sure showed what an amazing teammate you are. You praising my games or leaving hype notes in my channel before games was really heartwarming. I love you as well

GaryTheGengar honestly your games blew me away. I think I mentioned it to you at some point but the majority of your games gave off huge borja vibes. To deliver perfectly played games right after subbing in was greatly appreciated, entirely unexpected and a major factor of why we rock the red today. Let's also shortly remember that you clutched the 5th win this finals and we would've lost straight up if you didn't clutch the tiebreak. Absolute legend. Not entirely sure how you got your ICBB by ladder flaming or whatever it was when you're actually this wholesome a person. Relatively quiet but still gassing your teammates whenever the opportunity was there. You were sure to leave nice messages after a win to any players which totally helped creating the feel-good air our team had. I'm glad kev got you on board, you were instrumental in our victory and most importantly you're a great human being that we're all happy to call our friend

Relous We go way back, carrying powc in our 10-2 season in 2015 or whatever year it was. You've never been the talkative type of person, sometimes it seemed as if you were nervous or you didn't care about winning all that much in past tournaments (even if I knew that wasn't the case) but you absolutely blossomed this season. You were lowkey the most cruel when it came to roasting Adam and it was one of the most hilarous things to watch. I would never ever have imagined us teaming up here but what a bliss it was. Seeing your game was still up left your teammates feel safe, you were stomping sm with gliscors and volcaronas all over the place. This was true until the very end where you not only got 2 playoff wins but both with us being down which was incredibly clutch. Thanks for switching to oras in week 9 as well, taking one off was crucial to me being able to give it my best in playoffs. Having you joke around with us, looking at your godawful painings, playing testgames or watching you prep with adam which I was able to steal a few ideas from or just watching you play your games, all of it was amazing. I'm glad we get to share the same trophy

Star do I start this off with a simple thank you? It was for sure one of the best spl runs ever and we wouldn't be here without you. You working with kev was honestly a bit crazy, at the beginning I wanted to keep track of the adv channel but soon after whatever you were doing reached the level of rocket science. Honestly how much more clutch can a person get? 3-0 playoffs, winning the last finals tiebreak game. I didn't think you were the talkative type at first but you sure helped multiple channels and always made sure to leave nice comments after the games. Calling with you and the pack on gamedays was great as well. You're the best player of the world at this very moment, am I supposed to frame your gassing comments after my games now? Getting to team with you is a luxury, I'm actually quite sure you would've helped even more if there was need, just like you gave your insights or asked questions in oras which became less after actual dubs stared rolling in. Chatting with you or discussing games whenever they were happening was a nice experience and I suppose there's very little people on this planet that can comment on teams as well as games as precise as you're able to. You're the season winner but also a good friend I was able to make and I'm thankful for both of these things

talah More than anything else chatting with you was a real joy, there are very little people I know of that are as cheerful as you are. You're a rocking personality and it didn't end up being a surprise that you rocked most battles as well. Whether it was you volturning all over the place or pulling a crucial play on the right turn, you were up to the task. It's not a coincidence all of us had full confidence in you winning finals tiebreak and you pulled it off as well. Carrying not only your own building but helping the two other SS channels to get theirs done as well is one of the most impressive teambuilding carries I've ever seen and it was especially difficult due to tier changes which resulted in the meta being a developing one. You still made it work, simply admirable. Watching your games was always a banger even if some didn't end up going your way. You were one of the most invested of our team, not only did you carry ss building but also general activity and positiveness. Bloody might be the only one who was gassing harder than you but I was able to count on you absolutely popping off whenever someone returned with a W. We had a special type of atmosphere in our server, where everyone helped shaping a feels-good but also extreme-tryhard feeling and you contributed big time. I'm not sure whether you're satisfied with this one or if you're hungry for more trophies but I'll always be there to support if needed or wanted. I'm happy I was able to meet you

ABR Honestly I'm somewhat disappointed. No, not in you my goat it's just a bait starting. When we were building for kev's smogon tour run back in november or december I was really excited since you were the first one that was able to keep up with my building pace. I think we were building new MLatias Spikes and everything simply fell into place, our thoughts totally complemented each other and we ended up building a perfect team with perfect ev spreads in less than what? half an hour? The reason I'm somewhat disappointed is that we simply didn't get to replicate this building because of our teams structure which meant you were busy building other gens. Still it was obviously great to have you review whatever I was putting out even though I imagine it might've been difficult from time to time given I was spamming the oras channel at extreme pace whenever I had my building sessions which resulted in me always having extra juice ready for future weeks. Seeing you trying your best to break the gsc meta as soon as week 1 erased all doubts of how this team would function and it sure was the reason I was able to give it my best as well. If I had to describe it it was like a message that told me "It's okay to pour your time into building at this place". Some things ended up working, some less so but ultimately all teams you created whether it was gsc, bw or sm were really smart and beautiful. Reading you praise my building whenever I finished or give suggestions on an ev spread or two was greatly appreciated. I'm also glad I was able to convert you into my biggest fan although Tony might be tough competition given he named the server "the dragon claw shrine" after semis or deciding to give everyone dragon type move names as soon as week 1. You're a great person, funny, driven, wholesome and likable. If you're not talking in stours at the very least :bonk:. You and kevin might be the only persons to enjoy building as much as I do although tony wasn't holding back when praising teams as well. I'm not sure if you even give a single shit about your own record given we won the whole thing anyway but if you do, you shouldn't. I'd assume your tiebreak game hurts you the most but you've won so much in the tournaments you've played I'm sure you don't mind Star hogging the spotlight this time. It's a blessing trusting in kev lead me to you, this tournament is now won and finished but I know we'll keep in touch Adam

BKC look at us kev. We really won hahahaha. This post is going to be about 30k characters long as well, we're breaking records on all ends.
If I remember correctly we started talking about SPL back in august and we really fucking did it. I didn't care about the trophy all that much, as described above and as I told you in pms months back my real goal was always to play alongside a bunch of insanely good friends while jerking around, having fun and playing the best pokemon we're able to. I didn't and still don't know a lot of people outside of my friends on smogon and I'm simply not the person to hang in X servers talking about whatever daily topic there is to get to know more people. Pretty obvious considering I'm in a grand total of 2 servers at this very moment. I decided to leave it to you so I could focus only on getting better and learning everything I didn't know about oras yet inside out. I kind of want to thank you just for that. Thank you. I don't feel like i'll have to mention how good you are when it comes to classic gen building, all of us know you're the goat and the others are going to sing your praises but I'll still mention it nonetheless. Having you dropping by in oras whenever you felt like it was fun as well, you mentioned some oras potentially appearing on your channel and I'll be glad to help. Thanks also for lending your pms to me whenever I couldn't post in our teamchat to prevent abnormal spamming and noisy messages. I sure gave it my all for you and you and tony made this team happen which I'll be eternally grateful for. I'll be looking forward to you closing out this SPL with the novel you're currently writing. Thank you for everything. I'm glad I decided to bet everything on you my goat

Thank you dragonpack. I'll say it one last time: teaming with you guys has been an unbelievable luxury.
This is it from me, it's not unlikely I'm going to post an entire thread of a ton of ressources, teams, sets and various strategies as well as informations about ORAS OU at some point in the future but I'm drained after this tournament so I'm not going to make any promises or give any dates.
Still it's my home and has been for a lot of years and there's little other tiers with this much freedom in the builder, I'll make sure to share my knowledge with all people who are interested in oras in any sort of form.

It's been a banger, have a nice day everyone

GGs Tyrants. Our series definitely gave me more than one heart attack.
Not good at writing stuff like that and you know I’m not someone who talks a lot (this text has double the size of the longest text I’ve ever written in English) but anyway here are some shoutouts towards an amazing team.

TonyFlygon we wanted to get this going for quite some time now but I guess neither of us really expected it leading to an immediate victory. It's really amazing how consistently you draft good teams even with 36k going to waste. You also did an amazing job as manager. Always available and talented to help out for communication, scheduling issues, do scouts etc.

BKC glad that we finally got you the red after 10 years of waiting. You were a great person to talk to and despite us not having much contact in prep our team choices in old gens tell me that you're an amazing support as well. Also would like to mention that the one time you complained about the direction our SM prep was going it led to probably the best team we built this tour.

talah before the tour started I wouldn't have thought that there is a player that's arguably even more active and invested than ABR. Teaming with you definitely proved me wrong. The amount of work you put in the prep is really impressive. The results showed in great team choices and with one exception in finals almost perfectly played games. I was super comfortable having you to start our tiebreak and as always you played a great game leading to our victory.

Tace you're such a young and talented player. What I really liked about you is that in contrast to our other SS players your team choices were a bit more ordinary so you were relying solely on your skill as a player - with success. Also thanks for always being available to test in SM.

Bloody alfa no wonder you ended our WCoP run this year. You’re an amazing player. The most impressive win was the one vs devin imo. I thought that game was over for sure no matter how lucky we get but you somehow still managed to win. Also got us 2 really clutch wins vs Luthier in well played games who were both huge for the shift in momentum.

Dragon Claw I think you’re the person on Smogon I know for the longest time now. Everything about you except your name changed to the better over time. Your investment in ORAS was incredible. Even I who played most of his mons career in ORAS could give little input to help you just because of how much you did on your own. Also played some incredible games especially the one in semis.

GaryTheGengar nothing describes you better than Garythecarry. We didnt talk much but you played some incredible games even overcoming cloyster in finals leading to our victory.

mael your games were the most cursed of them all. Either stupid luck against you not giving you the chance to play or some luck from yourself making it look like you just won by luck even though it’s not true. You’re a skilled player which you proved in every game you got to play (nothing less to expect from a former OST champion). Your team choices were also on point as we saw vs snofall. Also got us a clutch win in finals.

Star no one deserves this trophy more than you. You ended up being the freewin for our team that ABR was supposed to be. Absolutely dominant performance in a strong ADV pool. But not just ADV. You got us the win in tb in a gen you didn't play once this SPL vs one of the strongest SS players. And even more impressive: you did it in a terrible matchup. I thought season over for sure when I saw the Volc in preview. But somehow you clutched it and really earned the title of goatmaster.

ABR thanks for being the content for most of our jokes this season lol. No but seriously it may look like you got carried by us but in the end you were still worth your price just by how much support you could give in any other gen. I would've never been able to get such good results in SM without your help which is proven by my horrible performance in SPL 11 before you joined our server. Would team with you again even if it costs my team 60k.

SMB you’re definitely a better player than your record suggests. Not a lucky season for you but that's how it goes sometimes especially in RBY. You still got us a clutch win in finals despite horrible luck in g1. Even I who has little knowledge in RBY could see that you played amazing in all 3 games. Your game in finals was the most fun RBY series I ever watched.

Quaze thank you for always being available for tests and subbing in in the weeks I was short on time. Really a shame that a player like you had to be benched for most of our season. On every other team you would’ve been a starter with ease. Hope we can team up again sometimes.

shawyu 1313 I honestly didn’t know much about you before the tour started. Think you’re the teammate who surprised me the most in a positive way. On the one hand you’re the first person I met who studies the same science as I do which is super cool. On the other hand you were also just a really fun person to talk to be it you sending funny drunk messages or talking about your food or Mahjong. Also played some good games in the first 2 weeks. I actually have no idea why we subbed you after that performance but Garythecarry turned out to be a worthy replacement.

TPP when we played for snake I remember thinking "this is the nicest person I've ever met" immediately. I was really looking forward to team with you and wasn't disappointed. You're super supportive and talented as a player which you proved with your OST run. Imagine having to bench an OST semifinalist. This just shows how strong our SS core really was. It's really a shame you couldn't play as much as you would've deserved it. I'm sure you would've dominated the field as you did in OST.

Leru you also caught the RBY curse and got unlucky despite playing good games. Your chat presence was amazing keeping us entertained with your insane lvl 5 treecko run in Emerald. A much better experience than I had with your alt in german SPL a couple of years ago who leaked my team lol. Glad you’re a part of the german community so we can stay in contact.

Bouff Mana Heroic Troller Excal col49 roscoe thanks for being on our server and helping us out. Was always fun talking and drawing with you. Our first drawing session was probably the most fun I had during the entire tour (thanks to Safirs ‘’someone about to fuck a squirtle’’). Also gz Troller to another great RBY performance in the tour yourself.

xray thanks for being the one who basically brought me to Smogon. Sorry for your bad luck in SPL. Going positive every year and not making playoffs once seems really cursed. But Kevin’s curse is broken so yours is next. You’re obviously a great player. Looking forward to win NPL and the WCoP trophy with you. gl in Stour.

Gefährlicher Random gz on your first year on smogon and your great performance in WCoP, Snake, SPL and OST. You're one of the most talented players I know. Looking forward to follow your success in the next years. Also thanks for testing with me throughout the season. Always nice to have someone outside of the team to test with. Even better if it's someone as skilled as you. When I beat you in tests I knew I could beat everyone.

MAX UND MAX just as amazing as your twin brother. Looking forward to see you with similar results as Felix in the future starting with WCoP soon. Also thanks again for the invention of Safeguard Volc which won us the trophy. You're a genius.

Lord_Enz really glad to see how far you've come in such a short time. Our philosophies regarding mons might be different but I still respect you a lot. gz again on your great OST run. Kinda glad you didn't win though so you're not quitting lol.

Serpi gz on your great SPL debut. Glad you finally converted your skill into a real tier. You becoming a rby main came a bit out of nowhere even for me. Not many players would be able to go positive in SPL after such a short time of learning the tier. gj

now that the memes are done with i guess its about time i post this. Theres still probably a lack of words for this team/how enjoyable this tour was for me but i promised id do this anyway so here goes

TonyFlygon where else do i begin besides it being genuinely amazing to see what you did this tour. From knowing what id need to hear to stay positive throughout the tour after a few very sloppy games and a hard choke in that mix to bringing together a very active environment that didnt slow down at all, including the few weeks where something didnt click as a team.

BKC im gonna be entirely honest when i say i was slightly worried seeing id be playing under you for 3+months due to some very mixed opinions ive heard from friends you either had you as a manager/teammate in past tours. Im happy to say i never saw any of this, even after a few games that ive already said werent my best showings. Feels like i shouldnt have to mention this either but seeing the amount of work u put into the oldgens, the amount of times id open the server to see you talking about misc topics was also a nice sight to see, just keep your shit out of whatever your next teamchat is.

talah easily the most valuable asset to our cg ou and likely all teams youll end up on as long as you keep playing this game. Some dumb obsessions aside i doubt most people will reach your levels of dedication, or have me hating on multiple ideas you brought during the tour that ended up working. As more of a friend seeing your growth as a player and a builder has also been a joy, and id hope to continue seeing where that takes you.

Bloody alfa
one of the people on this team i had no idea what to expect from as the tour started.Outside of the way you decide to say kartana, it was nice getting to know you, and seeing the aftermath of some of your games, such as the w2 game vs luthier/the game vs devin

Relous might be able to speak for both of us when i say never expected an sm slot supported by abr to bring ho more than once throughout the tour. either way, u were still great and more talkative than id heard u were from friends that have teamed with you before, mostly last years classiest. Seeing you farm nearly this entire pool with sd glisc and volc somehow never got old and i wouldnt mind watching another 7 games of it.

Dragon Claw i also cant say i ever expected to see someone as enthusiastic about oras as you were, or think id actually enjoy watching someone build and ev for hours on in, in a tier ive also called shit on several occasions due to whats common. Games aside since your semis game that looked lost from turn 10 into a win has been and probably will be brought up 1000 times, seeing someone as interested in knowing at least the basics of other gens was another pleasant sight to see.

GaryTheGengar while we never spoke much u definitely deserved the nickname gary the carry, cloysters aside. Probably not the worst time to be locked, and the look honestly suit u.

mael one of the few people ive seen not tilt into oblivion when things just dont start out going your way. As many unlucky games as you had aside, seeing you come back from those with a positive attitude the next week was a feat i doubt ill see again fairly soon. All of this topped off with a finals win and any other help u could provide wont go unnoticed.

Star the hard carry i also slightly expected out of a different user at the start of the tour, easily the best player not just on our team, but in the tour. From the best record in your field to clinching the tour in a completely different gen, there honestly wasnt a more poetic way for our season to end besides you winning the last game after abr lost.

ABR the butt of most of our jokes this season, and the other fairy gen volc enthusiast on this team. Before more jokes get made about your record, or the fact that you actually used sand attack in a serious game, you were genuinely one of the most important pieces on this team. From building nearly everything in sm and being a huge part of bw,chiming into other gens when people needed input, and taking all of our jokes, this team wouldnt have gotten nearly as far without you.

SMB another case of your record doesnt define your season. As much as i wish i got to see you speak a bit more, watching your games was another treat when rby didnt turn on you, and that still came together for another finals win.

Leru i also had no idea who you were before the tour, but you were another piece that brought us together, and your level 5 treecko runs. Im not qualified to talk much about your rby experience but this was a nice first impression

shawyu 1313 i ALSO wish i got to see you talk more but timezones suck. Whenever you were on with us it was great to hear something about either your food or some really funny drunk messages posted by other users in this thread. Even if you got benched earlier in the season you also still had one of the most impressive early games ive seen in a while w1 .

Quaze i hope youve found some replacements shirts now that this tours over. Or figured out how to land hjk. Jokes aside it was really nice to see someone else playing cg ou with a nearly completely different opinions than mine, alongside someone who was on and could run games almost any time i wanted tests. You honestly probably should have started more this tour.

TPP similar to relous my honest thought the first time i had spoken with you to schedule for snake was holy shit hows someone so nice.I also didnt go into the tour expecting you to put in as much effort as you did. If talah was the ss carry for teams, you were for nearly everything else. Since i also never said this congrats on your ost run, youve got a lot more great things coming.

Bouff col49 Mana Heroic Troller Excal im grouping all of you together but thank you all for joining at some point during the tour and providing everything from help in select tiers to being generally solid chat presences that also managed to fit in with the rest of the team.

im not putting names for this one but theres another s/o to the people outside of the team who would either sit and run games with me or listen to me vent about whatever issues i had w the stages of the ss ou during the tour, you know who you are.

Alright alright one more:

Fuck it you're getting hit too talah:

With that out of the way, thanks everyone for all the congratulatory messages and I want to say good games to the Tyrants as well. SPL would undoubtedly be less interesting without you guys and your consistency the last four years has been incredible, Rey. Maybe we’ll square off again next year. Congrats on the sex having as well, PDC.

Before I get into the individual shoutouts I'm gonna take a moment to thank my teammates and those of you that hung out in our chat for the great time we had these last few months as a group. I always try to prioritize the overall environment when I manage in tournaments like this, yet I hardly had to do or force anything on that front all season this time around. You were all naturally locked in and ready to put in the work, one week at a time. We started poorly as we were still figuring out the best way for us to work together, though none of you ever panicked or got upset with each other at any point. It truly was smooth sailings for essentially our entire run and I couldn't have wished for a better group to embark on this journey with.

I love you all and the fact that you guys had such a great time on the Wolfpack is the real victory for me. Thank you for the dedication you showed Kevin and me and for the thoroughly enjoyable few months you gave me to escape from my irl problems when I needed to the most.

BKC

God, what a relief. I really don't think you know the full extent of how bad I felt after last season came to a close for us. I really, really wanted to get you that red trophy and you were so stupidly good in ADV all season, too. You trusted me to build a team around you and I simply didn't deliver on my end of the deal. Not until after our mid-season moves, anyway, which ended up being too little too late. After SPL we started getting into Classic and eventually - while sitting at #1 in the standings - you came to your Smogon awakening; no more big, stressful tournament games from here on out. You decided they weren't worth it for you anymore and to focus on managing instead. You then asked me to team up with you for SPL XII and I didn't hesitate for a second. That was about a year ago and here we are now. The 10th time was the charm, finally.

If we go back in time a bit further, it's funny to think about how we've essentially gone in opposite directions for our 'careers'. I had no interest in tournaments whatsoever when we first crossed paths about 10 years ago. I was just a noob starting to get into making PBR and Wi-Fi battling YouTube videos, while you were doing it big in Smogon Tour even back then. I remember distinctly when we played for some ORAS tournament a few years ago that you were shocked I knew how to even click the right buttons, given how SHIT I was during the early YouTube days. Omfuga pulled me back into competitive Pokemon in 2016 after being gone for years and I've been hooked into the tournament scene since, gradually getting better at playing and obviously managing in particular. Meanwhile, you've taken a step back from tournaments and are fully focusing on your YouTube channel nowadays, which is growing steadily and deservedly so. Let's do something together on that front soon!

What a privilege it is for me to be the one you dedicate your one last real Smogon ambition towards. I really mean that. I look up to you a lot, both as a person and as a mind for the game, and I'm so happy that you finally won one of these after a decade of trying harder than anyone else has. Thank you so much for trusting me again after I didn't come through for you last year. It was a huge learning experience for me and I'm so glad I was able to make it up to you and Star now. You were an incredible presence all tournament long and obviously had a huge impact on the team, even without winning the 7+ games you'd usually win in SPL. The knowledge and influence you provide in several gens, 3-5 especially, is unrivaled. Not only that, but you bring it all with such a positive, perhaps even terrific energy, which truly radiated throughout our team chat. You're a great teammate, an even better person and I cannot wait for your shoutouts novel. Congratulations on finally getting it done, brother.

ABR

You know, I had a feeling this newfound irl success and confidence you've been enjoying lately would be the downfall of your tournament dominance, but 0-3 in playoffs really is pushing it.. In all seriousness, you know there's nobody I'd rather do these tournaments with. Even if you're not as good as you once were as a player (read: washed), you're still the best teammate I've ever had in my time on Smogon and - despite your own record - you delivered another MVP caliber performance in the team chat. You went above and beyond for your teammates all season long again, especially in SM and BW, and led by example with your confidence and unbreakable spirit. Both of which were particularly admirable considering the abuse you've had to endure from all of us since your week 1 game. Much unlike Fear's Gengar, you never buried your head in the sand. I'm 100% serious when I say that your struggles this season were incredibly good for morale, though. Way to take one, or I suppose seven, for the team.

Looking back, did you ever think our friendship and frequent collaborations would develop and last like this? We've both gone through a lot of irl changes and growth these last few years, and we've always been able to talk to each other about what's been going on, even just the little things. You're actually starting to turn into a somewhat reasonable young adult, which was entirely unimaginable when I first met you all those years ago. So was you losing 7 games in SPL, though. I suppose becoming crust is inevitable, even if you were uncharacteristically unlucky this season. Crucially, however, your confidence and optimism never took a hit. Your attitude towards this game is the best I've ever seen in my time here on Smogon, by light years at that. The way you remained so calm and zen after the Conflict game was mindblowing in particular. Honestly, the entire team's calmness and zen was, which is in large part due to your leadership. If ABR isn't worried, then neither are we. I wouldn't spend 36k on anyone else and despite the 5-7 I'd spend 36k on you again in a heartbeat. There is nobody I'd rather go to war with and I know the same goes for you with me, too.

That said, I do want to thank you for trusting me again after I was unable to replicate our SPL IX success for quite a while. We've built up a storied history on this website together since SSD I and we both learned things to improve upon as we went, one tournament at a time, and I wouldn't have had it any other way. Enjoy your break until Classic, where I'm sure you'll do great again (in the non-GSC Cups). I know that white trophy is the one you still really want - not just because it's white.. - and in my experience that's all it takes for you to eventually make it work.

Star

God damn, I tourbanned you for 2 years and you still come through with a 17-4 record over two seasons on the Wolfpack. You may as well join us over on Team Europe now, too; Stockholm is the capital of Sweden after all. Needlessly obscure jokes aside, after gradually getting over my frustration and anger stemming from the SSD I final, we started to really get along great these last few years. In fact, you're one of the main people I look to when I think of one of my niche nonsense jokes that maybe three people will get. You're always one of the people that does appreciate them, which I greatly appreciate in return.

As for Pokemon, naturally I am one of The Jerk's starmaster simps, even if you put up another mesmerizing 4-7 between WCoP and SSD this year. I appreciate that the Wolfpack is the one team you actually do give a shit about, truly. What you did this tournament was honestly unbelievable. It was systematic week by week destruction. You were relentless from start to finish and by far the best player in the tournament this year. Star really couldn't be a more accurate username right about now. We knew you'd work very well with Kevin, Adam and me after last year's SPL, especially when finally playing your best tier, so getting you again felt like a great fit to all of us going into the planning stage.

I'm glad you finally had that real breakout tournament this SPL. Both for you personally and for us as a team, obviously. All three of your playoff games hit patricularly different. You seemed entirely unfazed by the occassion and were in complete control from turn 1, even in your finals tiebreaker game when all eyes were on you in a tier you hadn't played all season long. I suppose abusing Ice-types in SS goes nicely with your veins. I've managed WCoP 3 times, SSD 3 times and this was my 4th time managing SPL, but nobody has played a full season as impressively as you did this year across all 12 of your games for one of my teams before. You were spot on and locked in from day 1. Hard Marowak on Toxic comes closest to a slip up, and even that is such a small detail all things considered. I can't think of a better way to express how much you've managed to impress me this SPL. 17-4 is nonsense, dude. I'm sorry I couldn't do better last year, but at least you lead us all the way there now. Not built anywhere near standard issue for sure.

talah

@here talah won spl btw. Even now it still takes some getting used to the fact you're actually good at this game now. After we came so close in SSD this year I knew I wanted to make another run at it together in SPL as soon as SSD had ended. Your building in particular just never fails to amaze me. Or fire go spinny, as you so eloquently put it yourself. It's respecting the season long team building endeavor that wins team tournaments in the long run, and there's nobody I'd rather have overseeing the SS group for that than you. My plan for this year was to go with what I dubbed the 'triple midrange' SS core; three players all around the same price working together, while all being able to take care of their own slot, too. No excess pressure on anyone, but a collaborative effort to stay ahead of the metagame as a group, one week at a time. Add TPP and Quaze to that mix and you have yourself a real unit going. Zero burnout, all fire.

You were the captain of that unit. Nobody understood the metagame better than you. The rise of Slowking, the rise of Scizor, the rise of Dracozolt; it was all you. You steered all three SS slots in the right direction and made it so that Kevin, Adam and I could focus more on the old gens. The plan worked perfectly and I loved how we approached SS all season, in large part thanks to you. I hope your future teams don't expect you to be able to build all of the slots every week, because the secret behind our good SS records was the fact that we were able to balance out the efforts so well between the starters and the supporting substitutes like TPP and Quaze. We definitely got it right this time and you were the key to unlocking that system.

Lastly, I want to quickly touch on the finals games, because obviously our entire series against the Tyrants was absolutely insane, particularly in SS. Your Moltres really might be the only one you let down this season. In fact, Moltres might be based on a phoenix, but there is no arising from these ashes. Seriously though, perhaps the way not only you, but the entire team handled losing that game the way we lost it was the biggest W of the tournament. It was by all accounts a pressure cooker type situation. SPL finals, two turns away from locking up the win into disaster striking, yet nothing happened. Not only did we lock back in for the remaining games immediately, but there was zero doubt about you going into the tiebreaker after that. You did all of what you did all season long and everyone backed you 100%. Your season wasn't going to be judged and discarded over one game, or even one turn given the SPICE with which you played that game overall. You showed up big time, corrected your mistake personally in the breaker and you should look back on this season with nothing but pride.

Bloody alfa

Anyone that's teamed up with me before knows that I believe it's always good to have some chaotic people on the team, too. You are, generally speaking, all over the place, but I don't believe that to be a bad thing at all. You very much live in the moment and clearly have a lot of fun in your life, which I think is one of your best qualities. Between WCoP and now the Wolfpack, you bring such an energetic and life enjoying presence that I think inspires the people around you to smile a bit more as well. That certainly is the case for me, anyway. Some of the others on the team have described you as our resident hypeman in their shoutouts for good reason. It's too bad you're taking some time off from tournaments, as I'm definitely going to miss having you around this summer during WCoP.

As for your gaming this season, you were a great addition and a huge part of the turnaround we initiated at 2-5 down against the Classiest in week 2. In fact, if we include Kenix, you went 3-0 against the Classiest this season. I know below that outgoing and casual exterior there lives a perfectionistic competitor inside of you, but the highs certainly make up for a mistake or two you might've made this season. Once the 1 True Lycan retain got denied by the hosts, I knew it was either you or Garay oak I wanted for that third SS slot alongside talah and Tace. You can prepare for yourself, are a delightful social presence and, perhaps not unimportantly, are proven to be able to win games in official team tournaments. Naturally, I was delighted to be able to grab you for another run at a trophy, and if this truly is the last tournament you'll play for a while, then I'm glad we were able to end it on such a high note for now. If you approach the irl goals you've set for yourself with the same amount of positivity and drive you do WCoP and SPL, then I don't doubt your pending success whatsoever. Keep doing it big, my man.

Tace

The better performing half of the breeze brothers. I was convinced on drafting you and talah as a package for SS as soon as I saw how well you two worked together during SSD playoffs this year. talah requested I'd add you to our chat and you hit the ground running immediately. You and talah played an unbelievable amount of test games and you were a super active social presence as well, even though you weren't on our team. I was thoroughly impressed to say the least. I reached out to you about SPL shortly after SSD had ended and our plan never really changed since; it was always gonna be talah, you and a third SS player from there on out.

The day before the auction, Star was convinced it would be genius to nominate you as soon as we could in order to fluster the competition and to ensure that you weren't going to be available too late either. We wanted to avoid certain teams having too much money remaining too deep into the auction, which often results in a couple of big overpays in the middle of the draft due to them having to spend their money on someone at that point. In fact, we drafted you before we even drafted ABR. It worked though, because after your performances in OLT and WCoP you definitely had the potential to cost a lot more. You were a fantastic teammate, too. I was happy to see how much you participated in the social side of things as well, like joining calls watching games or playing drawing games. Once you control your nerves and excitement to finish games quickly, I think you're going for 8-9 win seasons soon enough.

Relous

This is honestly ridiculous looking back. We drafted the one SM player that loves Gliscor, Clefable and Toxapex as much as Adam does, then suddenly you both get addicted to Volcarona and hyper offense. To think you started off the season being insecure about winning if you weren't using SD Gliscor is so funny to me thinking about it now. You're such a good player, man. All you need to succeed is someone that helps you with your teams and does so well. Adam's playing may not be what it once was, but his support in combination with your playing was absolutely killer in SM all season long. We'd been trying to set up that ABR + Relous core for quite a well now, though it looks like we timed it perfectly in the end.

Something I do still want to highlight is that you surprised in a postitive with your chat presence. I had imagined you as a quiet person that just did their in SM and kind of kept to himself otherwise, but I was wrong about that. You were actually super involved socially and even more so in the SM channel. Given your self proclaimed team building struggles, you were so incredibly collaborative with everyone all season long. You know exactly what you wanted and steered Adam, when you weren't too busy savagely roasting him, and the others perfectly in the team building department. You're such a smart player that clearly understands the SM metagame inside and out. I loved reading up on the 1000+ SM messages after coming back from work, even if 500 of them were just you and Adam moving around Kommo-o EVs. Your involvement in the preperation process cannot be understated; you weren't at all the waiting on a team, import and play type this SPL. Thank you for the hours upon hours you put into getting ready every week. It clearly hasn't gone unnoticed and I imagine it contributed to your superb record, too. It was a real pleasure teaming up with you this SPL.

Dragon Claw

You played one of the most insane games I have ever seen live. I'm honestly still not sure how you did it, though I do know that was one of the bigger wins for our season without a doubt all things considered; we needed that win against London Beats in that moment 100%. Your passion and drive to solve ORAS and to be as good as you can be was a beautiful sight to behold all season long. You were such a professional.

We really liked the idea of getting you for a few reasons. First, and this was the biggest one, we knew we couldn't push Adam's ability to carry multiple slots in the team builder too hard. We were set on Relous for SM from day 1, so we started thinking about how to approach ORAS without it being another slot Adam would have to babysit alongside his own game every week. You solved that problem perfectly. You were projected to be cheap (essential when the GSC slot costs 36k..), you already had a full SPL season playing ORAS under your belt and most of all you provided an entirely self sufficient option for us. There was simply nobody better.

My favorite thing about you this tournament, though, was how much you loved this team. Your attitude was incredible from start to finish. So much so that shortly after your finals loss against CBB you simply accepted that you did what you could, that you played a great game and even topped it off by saying you felt blessed to be on such a great team. As a manager, that is such a beautiful thing to read. I'm so happy you had such a great time on the Wolfpack, because in the end that's the main goal for someone like me. You're an elite ORAS player and builder and I'm sure you'll keep succeeding in whatever you set your mind to in the future. There's a reason our server is called what it's called after all.

GaryTheGengar

I mentioned this to you already, but the people too must know that you introducing me to Bill Ding was a game changer for me. Rarely have I vibed with a video game character as much as I have with Bill Ding, especially since we both have an affinity for puns and hats. Bill Ding aside, I very much vibed with you being part of our team, too. We first met as teammates on the Rattlers in SSD III and I remember being surprised about how laid-back you were in the team chat. My perception of you as someone who didn’t really know you at the time was that of an angry hothead screaming at his computer screen when Hydro Pump went to the left, but that wasn’t the case at all.

Fast forward a little to Kevin and I starting to plan for this year’s SPL draft and we eventually come to your name again. We decided on doing both BW and DPP for cheap, which meant we wanted to make sure we drafted sufficient cover for both among our substitutes. Kevin, and all credit goes to him for this, INSISTED that you were essential for that role. I reached out to you on Discord not long after that and felt immediately reacquainted with that relaxed and friendly way with which you carrythegengar yourself. It just felt right and you were on every version of our draft plan from that point onward. You were a perfect fit knowing you have a lot of experience, knowing team support was never a problem with Adam and Kevin on the team and knowing you’d actually put in the time to get ready for your games, too.

Having said all that, we admittedly didn’t think you’d be THIS good. Holy shit. And I don’t just mean clicking the buttons, I also mean the way you communicated and how you prepared and tested the teams. It wasn’t at ALL just waiting for the team and playing. You put in serious hours week after week to make sure that particular rendition of Tyranitar Gliscor Skarmory - Kevin's second favorite TGS abbreviation - was just right for you. I truly do not think we could have drafted a better suited cheap BW player for our environment than you looking back it. You were sensational on all fronts and we couldn’t have won this tournament without you. Thank you for your effort, your patience and your dedication to our team throughout the tournament. To think people really say that BKC can’t draft...

mael

I won't lie to you, I was a bit skeptical about drafting you for DPP when Kevin first proposed it. We have an interesting history on this website after first teaming up on Team Europe during WCoP 2016, though obviously that is YEARS ago by now. Back then you were in a very different place mentally and having teamed with you again this SPL I'm just blown away by how much more positive and happier you've become. Similar to my experience with Gary, I just really liked our conversation when Kevin and I were preparing the draft. During WCoP 2016 you seemed to dislike every tier, every team and every game you played, yet nowadays you're such a lover of the game, especially when it comes to DPP. Your enthusiasm and motivation really resonated with me when we spoke and I told Kevin I was on board immediately afterwards.

As for the tournament itself, your positive attitude and determination to keep going - discounting the short The Sponge slip.. - really impressed me. I went into the tournament slightly hesitant given my experience with you in 2016, but you proved those thoughts wrong from the get-go. You were unlucky to lose week 1, though that didn't deter you from going hard with the prep and the test games every week. You put in very real hours and they did not go unnoticed, particularly when the going was rough. You had won me over before even winning a game. We may have made some mistakes in team selection here and there, which on top of some odds against you resulted in a regular season you weren't satisfied with. Yet, it didn't stop you from relentlessly playing tests during the final and your stellar season long attitude was rewarded with a huge, huge win. That final ends 4-6 if you throw in the towel mentally. Thank you so much for your hard work and for your social presence, too. I hope your aggressively healthy sleep schedule is worse the next time we team up, though..

SMB

I imagine you're looking back on this season with mixed feelings, which is certainly the case for me when it comes to handling your season from a managerial perspective. Frankly put, I let you down. I should've picked up on your signals better and we should've had the sit-down we had after week 8 a lot sooner. You went 6-3 for the Wolfpack last SPL and went on to straight up dominate the RBY circuit all year after that, yet I couldn't create a winning RBY environment for you and that stings, even if we did get it right when it mattered the most.

Having said all that, I'm so incredibly grateful that you took such a frustrating season in stride when playoffs came around. You were clear about how you wanted to handle that last series and thanks to Leru you had a few weeks to mentally recharge appropriately, too. Even then, though, that's easier said than done. You were incredible during the final. You reached out to your friends, handled getting ready entirely how YOU wanted to handle it and delivered immeasurably big. Forget the early season frustrations, because - like with mael - we straight up do not win SPL without you coming through the way you did. You and emma also carried me to a positive record in Doubles Premier League, which I for one thought would never be possible. You're a genius, even if misunderstood at times. You should be very proud of the mental backbone you showed this season. You came into this tournament doing nothing but winning in RBY, so to not only struggle for the first time in forever, but to then bounce back when the stakes are the highest is just amazing. Enjoy this win to the fullest; you were a huge part of it.

Leru

Man, I still wish you weren't so damn dangerous. That said, we're obviously still very close, though only truly in the geographical sense. It really is tragic that the person on this website I fear irl the most is also the one that lives closest to me. Thankfully, from within the safe confines of our Discord server, you're actually a fantastic teammate. The reason I liked getting you as a substitute for this tournament mostly stemmed from my experience on your MWP team shortly before. You were really dedicated and active and I felt like you could provide a fun and supportive presence on the bench for the rest of the group. I value activity and social enjoyment more than anything in team tournaments, so I want to thank you for coming through in spades on that front.

You weren't at all useless on the Pokemon side of things either, though. You helped where you could and even took up GSC to be able to provide input and grind games with Adam. Unfortunately Adam's GSCeason was pretty shit, though not at all because of you. As the season progressed, the one slot we couldn't really make work yet ended up being RBY. We needed someone to take the pressure off of SMB for a few weeks, and you admirably stepped in. You started practicing with Troller and honestly played a really solid series against Nails. Nails was probably the worst opponent you could've came up against for a first RBY series of the season, given his experience and the fact he fishes so hard that he's sometimes called Rod Stewart. You may not have won this season, but I think you allowed us to win our RBY series in the final by stepping in when you were asked to. You were such a fun teammate, and that really, really matters. 3k very well spent, if you ask me.

Quaze

I was just checking your messages in our chat and you really use this relic of an emoji way too much still. You gotta get it together, man. Another Team Europe brother in arms and the only other Swiss blooded tournament player doing it big in the community right now. I'll hit you up the next time I go visit my family there. You're significantly less threatening than Leru, too. I swear you have the WORST timing this side of soulgazer, though. You really asked for help with your physics exam 5 minutes before a finals tiebreaker game, unironically. I hope your exam went well, btw. And as an example it does speak to a great quality you added to our group; you're a lovable goofball.

Not only that, but you were an incredibly useful substitute as well. You were not afraid to say your piece on teams we were working on, even if it was a big name like ABR or BKC posting them. That's not a given, in my experience, so thank you for that. You were always around to help out through test games or to cover our starters when we encountered scheduling problems, too. One might even say you were the team's Swiss Army Knife. While you were motivated to start, which you easily could have on a few of the other SPL teams, you didn't let that deter you from significantly contributing as a substitute, which - like your country's flag - is a huge plus. Let's both try to stay out of the hospital a bit more this year and let's run it back again during WCoP. Never a dull moment, right?

shawyu 1313

Hm, I suppose I could've used the nutrick emojis for you instead... I actually really, really wanted you from the moment you signed up. You're super nice, you're very flexible in the amount of tiers you can cover and you're above all an amazing and selfless teammate. I asked you before the draft if you would be okay with being a substitute for most of the season if we did end up drafting you, and you didn't hesitate for a moment to say you were happy to help the team in whatever way you can. I loved that attitude and marked you down as a must get straight away.

Fast forward to week 1 and we actually encounter a slight change of plans. We weren't sure on who to try out first between Gary and you, but decided to go with you first given your more recent and consistent exposure to the current BW metagame. Gary would in the meantime catch up on metagame knowledge and help out in a supporting role while you started. You went 1-1 over the first two weeks and I actually decided to sub you out for Gary after you won your week 2. Never change a winning team is not something I abide by, especially early on in the season. I wanted to know what worked better; you starting with Gary supporting, or Gary starting with you supporting. As the weeks progressed I grew convinced we had found the right BW setup. Your timezone combined with Gary's sleep schedule actually overlapped nicely for testing and our BW core felt extremely solid.

You were such a nice and supportive teammate all season and I hope you know that you fully deserve this trophy. Remember that we do all of this as a group, as a team, as a PACK. Never once did you complain about not starting, never once did I see anything that wasn't supportive from you. Thank you so much for that and enjoy the win. Also, your food pictures are amazing. Please keep posting those in the chat even if the season is already over.

TPP

Last, but not least (which was Adam (he lost 7 games)), we have tppoat. Let me start by saying that your shoutouts post genuinely moved me. And I mean that beyond just the "ah that's great to hear" type stuff. The fact you enjoyed this tournament to that level and put it into words the way you did warmed my otherwise cold and barely functioning heart like very few things have recently. You are one of a kind and a real treasure to this community. After first being introduced to you through the awful, yet great SSD III Rattlers, I knew it was only a matter of time before I drafted you myself. Writing this post now really makes me feel even worse about the fact that I beat you as Smogon's nicest user in the Smogon Awards two years in a row. I'll start making some enemies soon to make sure it won't happen again..

When I started getting ready for this tournament I wanted to ensure the SS department was all under control without overburdening any of the players involved over an 11 week (plus tiebreakers) season. You were always the perfect number 4 type guy for that in my mind. Investing 6.5k into a substitute might seem like money poorly spent at a glance, but I'd have gone to 10 if needed. You win and lose tournaments like these as a team and anyone that's had the pleasure, nay privilege, of teaming up with you knows that you bring a LOT to the table. Your friendliness aside, you just go incredibly hard. Scouting, testing, brainstorming, analyzing replays, you name it. You did and do it all. Our SS core was as good as it was because of how well balanced of a system you made it through your efforts all season long. There was no tilting, there was no building fatigue, there was no burnout, because it was all done as one core. That's not possible without you. It just isn't. You complimented on my effort and care for the old gens in your shoutouts, but I could only go that hard there knowing you had it all under control for the three SS slots.

I hope this website and this community doesn't corrupt you too much. You've very quickly grown into one of my favorite people I've had the pleasure of meeting playing Pokemon. The way you go the extra mile to make a difference in someone else's day is inspiring and you make me want to be a better person, especially during the bad days. I like how you aren't afraid to be funny and to jokingly roast people when the time is right for it a lot as well. You're a lot funnier than I imagine people think you are, as you can clearly tell by being the one that started us off on the ABR meme streak in this thread. Thank you so much for putting in the amount of time and effort you did for our SPL team. I'd have been satisfied ending in 10th place knowing that this team made such a difference to your life these last few months. I'm always just a PM away, don't forget that. You're the best and congratulations on your incredible OST run, too.

Yep, that's the emojis you're getting after torturing me every tournament with your rogue emoji reactions to my announcement posts, col. My brothers.. The last time I won SPL you guys were both there with me, too. I adore you both so much and it probably comes to nobody's surprise that I at the very least attempt to take you both everywhere I go. You were a big part of the environment again and I just vibe so much with both of your personalities. Thank you for selflessly helping my team again and I hope you both had a good time doing it, too.

Bouff

I love you so much, man. You're such a pure and positive presence and influence on me. I really liked that you liked the Wolfpack environment so much, because even if you're not officially on the team that's still something I strive for as a manager. You fit right into our diverse group of personalities and added a huge component to the overall social atmosphere. Not to mention the fact you actually helped a bunch of the players out a lot with test games, too. I hope you keep doing things on Smogon that you actually enjoy doing, while avoiding the stuff that stresses you out too much. You're not obligated to do anything you don't wanna do on here, even if you try to convince yourself that you'd feel bad not doing it. It's YOUR hobby. Keep dominating in Monothreat and please keep being you, because we all like you for who you are. Thank you for enriching our team chat the way you did.

Heroic Troller

The hammer. You are, and this is true, the best RBY player there's ever been. You're just so consistently, ridiculously good. I know you really wanted to be on the Wolfpack this year, but I had to retain my man SMB, especially not knowing how much you'd end up costing (alongside ABR (a player that cost 36k despite losing 7 times)). Once the Ruiners were down bad to the point that their season was mathemetically over, you asked to join our chat and SMB approved. While your style and SMB's might have clashed, I think ultimately it played a big part in us winning the RBY series that mattered the most. We had a lot of capable people commenting and supporting RBY, but ultimately the person SMB needed to listen to was himself. Besides, it was in the producing memes department where your talents really got to shine. I had a great time pumping out those memes with you and I'm very grateful that you offered to help us out.

Excal

I swear to God you had better stop trying to ban Jynx from GSC. It's a huge relief you main RBY now. Don't try to ban Jynx from RBY either, though. Thank you for joining our chat for the final, man. I suppose it only makes sense to add a square in order for us to stop going in circles. Seriously though, you have a great mind for this game and I love your creativity and take on things. We had a great time teaming up in SSD on the Rattlers and I was delighted to have you here as well, even if for such a short time. Also, we both stan ziloXX, so clearly we just have a lot in common.

I lied before here's another one:

Also, I want to thank all of you that encouraged me throughout my weekly avatar challenge. I wasn't really sure how to go about it when I first had the idea, but the positive feedback I got from you guys really motivated me to keep going. To recap, here are all of the avatars I used in chronological order. As you'll clearly be able to tell, they gradually become more elaborate and of better quality. I'm still pretty bad at this, but I'm having a lot of fun with it and I'm extremely happy with the Super Saiyan one in particular. Definitely gonna keep this one for a while.

In closing I'd like to share some stats for those of you that might find it interesting. Having been on the Wolfpack every SPL I've participated in as either a manager or a player, I was curious to see how the all-time Wolfpack stats lined up dating all the way back till the first SPL. I currently only have all time Wolfpack records and appearances set up, but I could easily add more if you guys have any good ideas for that. Green denotes having been on that year's Wolfpack roster, while red denotes an SPL winning season. Maybe something fun to see for franchise legends like aim, Fear, Jackal, Nails and Tamahome? I imagine I made one or two mistakes at least, so if you spot anything incorrect just send me a message on Discord. Anyway, here you go:

Thanks again everyone and see you in WCoP!

ggs to the Tyrants. Finals was a wild fucking ride going from 0-2 to 2-2 to 2-4 to 5-4 to tiebreak and down to the last game there as well. In all honesty both our teams didn’t play as well as we would have liked, but at the end of the day, I think this finals matchup was definitely between the best teams and would have had a deserving winner either way.

To the Wolfpack in general, I’ve never been on a team with such a positive atmosphere and it was really a unique experience. With our struggles at the beginning of the season, I can’t pretend I was optimistic starting down a 2-5 hole week 2 after losing 3-7 week 1 and Tony most definitely wanted my head on a spike. I think our comeback there capped off by Bloody really set the tone for our season as a whole. We started so many fucking weeks in a hole, including both playoffs series but nobody was ever flustered and always had faith that we’d find our way back. That kind of confidence and general positivity was something I truly enjoyed (despite optimism not exactly being my natural state lol).

Tony

Well we certainly have come a long fucking way from the snake 1 experience. Honestly kinda figured you’d hate our asses forever especially after Jesus pm’d you the four heatrans of the apocalypse. Kong obviously went a long way there and we’ve become good friends the last few years because someone has to laugh at random geography themed humor lol..

As for your actual managing, I think my record with you vs. without you pretty much says it all LOL. Last season was agonizing for us all because I really do believe that by week 9 we had the strongest lineup in the tour. It was tough as fuck to go out doing everything we could in that last week but being let down by our early season struggles. Honestly, I wasn’t expecting to be retained at all for 21.5 in ADV until Adam pm’d me but as soon as you guys reached out I obviously wanted to play for you again. No other manager creates a team environment quite like you and that was especially clear from day 1 this season. The people you drafted, the announcements, checking in with players whenever they needed it and of course the fucking emojis really made the atmosphere perfect. You put a legitimately superhuman amount of effort into this shit between prep in various tiers and testing with Adam or Gary or me until some obscene time in the morning. There really is no better manager and I’m really glad we were able to (successfully) run it back.

BKC

The Wolfpack ADV has certainly done it big the last two seasons and you’re definitely the reason for that. Funnily enough, I actually played you in my 3rd and 4th ADV games ever in r2 of ADV Cup 2016. It was without a doubt the least close series I’ve ever played. I recall bringing some SubSalac Hera shit and idr what you brought but I got absolutely throttled. Throughout the years I’ve been fortunate enough to team with you several times and I’ve learned a ton. When I first got into ADV, I just stole shit from your replays and gradually evolved to asking you for help looking over my teams in my ADV Cup/Classic playoffs run the following year and my first Callous Invitational. Your perspective was always invaluable in helping me really understand the tier and I most definitely wouldn’t be playing it in SPL without your influence. Obviously your input was also a huge part of our success this season both in ADV and every other old gen lol. Whether it be ideas, entire teams or the trademark goat EVs (or one Guts Machamp), we definitely would not have been nearly as successful in old gens without you. Like with Tony, I’m really really glad we got a chance to do it over and finally get you the red trophy that you deserve.

ABR

Obviously, I’m going to give you shit until the end of time about this season. Despite (or probably because of) you being one of my closest friends, it's physically difficult for me to give you compliments. Suppose I'm obligated to give it a shot though. When it comes to the confidence and positivity I mentioned earlier though, nobody exemplifies that better than you. You had every reason in the world to be tilted as fuck after the playoff GSC games but like Tony said, you definitely have the best attitude towards the game I've ever seen. Despite this season obviously not being your best I really did (mistakenly) believe you would win every time you played (you lost seven times btw). The 36k, as much as we made fun of it, was obviously worth it and you took our season-long abuse like a (seven-time) champ. We don’t win nearly as many games in SM or BW without you and even in ADV your support was extremely helpful especially once I got busy after starting full-time. You’re the best teammate I’ve ever had and I’m glad we were finally able to get one together. Unfortunately your boomer ass is too crusty to help in WCoP but maybe we’ll carry you there too lol…

talah

Honestly, I can’t say I wasn’t a little skeptical preseason when Tony and Adam were so dead set on getting you. You definitely had a nice snake season, but I wasn’t exactly convinced that you’d suddenly become a great player. All my doubts were instantly squashed week 1 by your game against xray. At the start it seemed like you were just going to get vortexed into oblivion but you very impressively maneuvered your way out of it and brought home the first of many wins. On the other hand, the thing that was never in doubt was that you’d absolutely carry SS in terms of support and the whole team chat in general activity. You were obviously the driving force behind our SS performance this season and you were always a step ahead of the metagame. When it came to finals, I know nobody is more disappointed than you (except your Moltres maybe) about the John W game. It speaks volumes to how impressive you were all season though (especially mentally) that nobody doubted for a second that you’d start in the tiebreak. 99% of players would tilt into oblivion after a loss like that in SPL finals but you remained as confident as ever and got it done when we needed it most. Not only that, but your support also remained as strong as ever building me a team with my preferred Choice Ice types lol. No doubt you’ll be retained next year and hopefully we’ll get a chance to team up again.

Tace

My only real impression of you prior to this tour was the infamous “welcome to the weak era” ethering of poor Jayde (hella deserved). Honestly, that alone had me onboard with the plan to get you because that’s probably the hardest I’ve ever laughed at a Smogon post. I also take full credit for nominating you first to get you cheap lol. Throughout this season, you were obviously a huge part of our SS success and also hella active socially. Most newer, younger (read: fetus) players tilt easily after losses but you were resilient, learned from mistakes and always rebounded from the tough losses. You had one of the toughest games of the season, playing the decider in semis and absolutely dominated the early-game to take us to finals. You’re definitely a player on the rise and looking forward to you continuing to improve.

Bloody alfa

I already mentioned that you for sure saved our whole ass season with the demolition of Luthier (and Kenix) in week 2. I’m always skeptical of players that haven’t played a major team tour before because I find that they usually get nervous and don’t perform up to their potential. It’s definitely safe to say that you broke that mold (with ease). You were a hilarious and positive personality all season and your (second) demolition of Luthier got us back on track in semis and guided us to the finals. Would definitely be glad to team with you again and I’m sure the success will continue in whatever tour you decide to play next.

Relous

You were fucking huge for us the whole season delivering an impressive ass 7-2. Having teamed with Adam many times over the years, I’ve seen a very long list of players be overwhelmed by his suggestions and unable to stick up for their ideas or push back on his. You never had an issue with this from day 1 and I really admired that you were always willing to tell Adam that he was heading down the wrong path and stick to what you believed to be the best choices. Your six-game win streak piloting SD Gliscor spikes or Volcarona offense to perfection was incredible. You were always incredibly collected in clutch situations and managing to get 0 mons trapped in a poor matchup against Sabella’s triple trap team in finals when we needed it most was definitely one of the overall highlights of our season.

Dragon Claw

I should start off by saying your enthusiasm and general love of the game was infectious this whole season. It was fun to watch you constantly come up with new ideas in ORAS, build teams that looked fucking insane and also extend that curiousity to other tiers. Never thought I’d see someone bring Manec Talon Starmie in 2021 but you just have a knack for knowing what will work in an evolving metagame. None of us will ever forget that semifinals game, easily one of the most impressive I’ve ever seen in my time on Smogon. You didn’t tilt after a horribly unlucky start (which really was just in line with your whole season) and fought your way back out of an absurd hole perfectly. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with in the future.

GaryTheGengar

Kevin was insistent on getting you with our remaining money in the auction and that decision most definitely saved our season. Nobody on the team played more clutch games than you and you literally always came through when we needed it most. You also put in tons of effort in preparation every week and were not shy about providing feedback to Kevin and Adam (which definitely isn’t the easiest thing in the world lol). Apart from your misfortunes with Cloyster, you had a pretty much flawless season and we absolutely wouldn’t be here without you.

mael

The only European with a sane sleep schedule. Your mental fortitude this season was really commendable given the atrociously unlucky start you had. You put in the work each and every week building and testing and you were finally rewarded by coming through in the biggest game of the season. I know you have some regrets about team choices, but your enthusiasm for the tier never wavered and was maybe only surpassed by your cooking skills. Overall, it was really nice to see how far you’ve come in terms of general happiness and I’m sure you’ll put up even more impressive seasons in the future.

SMB

I know this wasn’t the ideal season for you, but at the end of the day you came through when we needed it most. All of us 100% stand by the decision to retain you. It was an easy one after you had what was easily the most impressive individual year of RBY ever. I have no doubt you’ll be back to your winning ways soon enough, just regret that we couldn’t help you live up to your full potential this season.

TPP

tppoat. It really is highway fucking robbery that evil ass Tony keeps stealing nicest user from you. When we had more money than expected near the end of the auction, we always knew we’d go as high as necessary for you. You were incredible all season when it came to activity and supporting our SS slots. The amount of effort you put into scouting, coming up with ideas and testing was incredible and I got to experience it firsthand as well for the tiebreak. Your OST run was also super impressive and I have no doubt you would have won a shitload of games if you started. Glad you got to play one at least in week 9, and I’m sure you’ll continue the success in the future tours you’ll (deservedly) start in.

Leru

It appears we figured out the correct way to buy you in SPL this time (not for 10.5k to start in ORAS and immediately bin the Metagross). You’re always a great teammate in all the random pls and this season was no different. You were hella active socially and always willing to test with Adam’s annoying ass which saved Tony and I some trouble. Stepping up in RBY for us in week 9 and semis was also huge and it without a doubt helped SMB deliver in finals. You put in the time to learn, worked with Troller and likely would have had a win (or two) without some real shit luck.

Quaze

It speaks to how talented our new gens were that you only got to play a couple games this season. Your timing really was hilariously terrible and I definitely won’t forget this interaction ever. In all seriousness though, you did everything we could ask of a sub (apart from landing high jump kicks). You weren’t afraid to give feedback on team choices and directions in a variety of tiers and were also more than willing/capable to play when needed.

shawyu 1313

One of my only regrets about this season is that you only got to play a couple games, especially after winning your second. You were always in our plans for the draft because of your great versatility and willingness to do whatever was needed for the team. You never once complained after being asked to bench for Gary, and instead continued to be a great social presence and testing partner. Your support all season and positivity rooting for us was huge and you absolutely deserve this trophy.

Mana

We used to have a lot of fun building jank ass shit in SM LC and I definitely had fun with your craziness in ADV instead this season. Although I didn’t really end up using any of your technology, you were incredibly helpful all season and by far the person I tested with the most. Grinding games with someone as good as you was very useful, even if it did mean Blissey snatching all my boosts and my pokemon constantly getting fucked by rogue Zap Cannons and Sings. Really enjoyed talking ADV with you in general and I’m sure you’ll do incredibly well in it if you decide to play it in SPL.

Bouff

You’re one of the nicest and most positive people out there and it’s always great to have you around. In addition to the social aspect, you were also absolutely huge all season testing in a vast array of tiers. Your help testing the rough MUs for my tiebreak team was invaluable and a big help in my preparation for that game. Hope we get to officially team up in a major tour someday.

col49

An integral part of the TonyFlygon team tour experience for sure. It’s always fun talking to you or even just reading your in-depth conversations about film and music. Thanks for the hard-ass carry in UUPL while Carson and Tony continued to be useless while busy with SPL.

Heroic Troller

You’ve obviously proven yourself to be the best RBY player beyond any shred of a doubt. I know you really wanted to be on the wolfpack and I’m sorry we couldn’t help you get to a trophy you deserve after your performances the last several seasons. Your help was really invaluable in RBY, especially with Leru and definitely would have resulted in some wins if not for misfortune.

Excal

Although you were only in the chat for a couple weeks, you were huge for our DPP game in the finals and got us pretty much the best matchup we could ask for when we needed it most. You were fun to have around and best of luck with your Classic endeavors (perhaps you can avoid the dreaded r6 Kingler this time).

roscoe

Always have a ton of fun shooting the shit with you and honestly what could be better than watching Archibald get smashed 3 (three) times in playoffs LOL

this was without a doubt my favorite tour experience on smogon yet, and would've been regardless of the outcome. being able to cap it off like we did was truly surreal, and i'm over the moon we managed to do it. we all knew we had a very special team from the start, what with the chat becoming active immediately after the invites went out and everyone getting along so well. it was a privilege being on the team and i wouldn't change a thing about it.

TonyFlygon the team being as perfect as it was absolutely thanks to you and your magic. even so i don't think even you expect the team would be this great, lmao. you already got to it first with the log, but having everyone be so calm with and sure of each other was such a unique experience. it definitely helped assure us all would go well, and it did! there's very few people on this site that can build a squad like that, and you're probably the only one that can do it as consistently as this. you being such a great leader also goes much further than that though. you actively take time of your already busy days to check in with people to make sure everyone is comfortable and see how you can make things even better for them. you care for your teammates and you show it. this much effort would already be too much for most, but you went above and beyond. helping everyone with prep as much as possible, whether that's through advice, building, scouts, if someone needed it you'd be there for it. it really sets the experiences i've had under you apart, and seeing how you genuinely do try to look after people as people. i'm glad to have gotten to know you both as a teammate and as a friend, and i can't wait for more.

BKC you were one of the first people to take a shot with me on this site, which is honestly pretty insane looking back?? the goat looking at 2018 me and going "this (slur of some kind probably) is pretty good at pokemon" was unreal to me (and also wrong cuz i was pretty fkin ass). i'm so happy that you did, and even happier since how we've both turned out since then. you stopped calling people slurs (sorry but this is funny) and i got good at pokemon, both things that seemed impossible at the time. you're not only one of the best at pokemon, you are also one of the best at talking about whatever else, whether that's films, music or anything really, interacting with you is never boring. you're not quite col but hey, you're pretty close. i don't think i need to say much about your pokemon endeavors throughout the tour, but i will say i'm glad you've finally found a way to make this work for you as well as this tour has. also, i was gonna say more nice things about you but you haven't watched burning yet, so i refuse. that shot you took at me did end up paying off though, albeit a bit delayed.

Tace you're one of my older friends on smogon at this point (in terms of how long we've been friends for, not your age(you are in high school)) and finally having a tour together(also winning it!!!!) after all that time was just as fun as i expected it to be. you played a lot of your best (and a lot of your not best!) and once you get everything together you'll be one of the best. trusting me enough to build for you as much as i did was a privilege and i can only hope we'll have more of these tours in the future :blobnom:

Bloody alfa we hadn't talked all that much before this tour, so tbh i had a few doubts going into it - which were cast away immediately after we started prepping for week 1. you are an incredibly joyful person to be around, your energy really stuck with me during prep and made it delightful. you were also very dedicated to getting things done despite being busy most of the day, you showcased some really admirable willingness. every1 else has talked abt that game w kenix but i can't stress how hyped everyone was during and after that (i wrote kenix instead of luthier on accident and i'm not correcting it), it really was a turning point. teaming with you was lovely, thanks for being a great part of our little core.

Quaze even though we didn't see eye to eye (at first), you were an essential part of the Core (Enforcer). having someone to disagree with me early on was honestly very useful (and i also proved to be correct later so get owned lol). seriously, your SS & SM checks were almost always needed and definitely helped us immensely throughout the season. i wish you got more games in, but you did prove high jump kick is a terrible move and that steered us in the right direction more than anything else in SM (except god volc maybe). we got it right the 2nd time and here's to hella more, maybe w u getting to show off a bit more (and not miss as much!)

TPP tppoat!! the nicest person on smogon does it again this tour. your wholesomeness is unrivaled, except maybe from your scout-making ability (seriously they were fkin gorgeous lol). we didn't get to showcase a lot of your building but your contributions were fully essential to our success, and i hope everyone recognizes that. we've known each other for a long time now, and this tour somehow made me like you even more (fuck tony for robbing you). i would have hoped you got to play more games throughout the tour but hey, that's one of the best problems a team can have, right? too much swag in the spl 12 wolfpack. i can't wait to see you play more throughout your time on smogon, and i'm sure you'll grow even more than you did during this tour.

Relous the way you brought the tour back after a rough start was so damn needed. i never really doubted your ability; your SM knowledge is some of the best i've seen the way you scanned over our SM prep was phenomenal. you were the toughest person to prep with i feel like, and that's meant in the best way possible. you knew what you wanted and you didn't settle for anything less. i only wish i could've done more in SM but i just wasn't needed w u and abr on the helm, which is another great problem to have i suppose lmao.

Dragon Claw THE GOD CLAW! your passion (s/o passion :3) for ORAS is unlike i've seen. i don't fully get it, but damn i really respect it. you had the entire tour solved from what, week 2? watching you work was great and as you said yourself the only bad thing w this SPL is that it had to end. everyone talked about your sick game in semis, but the most memorable game for me was definitely the chew machine, cuz i do think it really captured your entire approach this tour. a wonderful teammate to be around, and happy to have gotten 2 know you.

GaryTheGengar i was always lurking the BW channel bc seeing you guys work was so fun lmao. contrary to what most people would believe of you through your quiet demeanor, your prep was always absolutely excellent. much like relous, you were also someone who didn't settle, and having BKC and ABR help you strive for perfection is what anyone would ask for. GaryTheCarry truly turned our season around, i feel. you were also a general great presence in the teamchat, and seeing you chat was as great as your play (which was absolutely top notch). clutching the tie vs the cloyster was the best possible for us after my throw really, and i'm glad you could close it out in such fashion.

mael whatever your record indicates to people, i don't think we could have a better slot than you. your play was always stellar, you were always super involved w everything building and prep related, and i hope you enjoyed the season as much as i did. more than anything pokemon, getting to know you was a season highlight for me. you're a great person, an absolute sweetheart, and i'm glad we got this tour to bring us together.

shawyu 1313 we had never interacted before the tour but god damn i'm glad we did it. you're a joy to be around, and an integral part of the Wholesomeness & Hype center of the SPL 12 wolfpack. again, another teammate i wish we got to see play more!!!! ik your games weren't the best but you have so much potential to be great, alongside an excellent mindset and passion(s/o passion ) for the game. you were one of the most memorable people on the team, and i hope i get to see more of you in the future

Star can't say much that hasn't already been said lol, the best player of the tour and the person that won it all for us, it couldn't be more fitting. genuinely one of the best on the site and i think you will continue to be for a long time. carrying ABR's washed ass must have been a herculean task but damn you lived up to it. that few days we got to prep together were great and how good you are this video game was damn clear. i do have one complaint, and that's that you have yet to change your fucking christmas pfp. it gets so distracting whenever i notice it like PLEASE fucking change it dude

ABR loser bitch

SMB one of our quieter members, but also surprisingly hype whenever you did talk lmao. you and bloody were our spanish hypemen and your support always felt great. not everything went your way but i don't think you need to prove how good you are to anyone at this point. your finals win signaled our return, too, we truly did win as a team, and i'm glad you closed a personally unfortunate season like that. can't wait to see more of your playing in the future.

Leru having multiple germans on the team and one of them being you and yet still no cheating is pretty crazy. then again, tony would literally come and beat you up irl if you did cheat, so i suppose that was deterrent enough. stepping up for RBY was admirable, and you were one of our most active social presences. every single member on the team was indispensible, and that goes for you too. always funny to be around, the way you contributed to our atmosphere was necessary and unique. i also loved the calls you were in (watching our other teammates playing games, not the ones you're used to) and your dumbass stereotypical accent. i got to know so many great ppl throughout the tour, and i'm glad you're a part of them.

ABR no but seriously, you're the goat, and i mean that in the literal way, i do think you're probably the best to ever do it (even if you didn't show it this tour (at all)). anyone else in that slot and our team doesn't make this run, not in a million years. you were building and/or helping with prep for every slot in the team, the sheer amount of contribution you had throughout our run would be ridiculous enough even if every team you made was bad but they were almost always Great. you're def someone i've looked up to for a while for pokemon (not anymore)(more losses than me in my last 2 tours combined) and teaming with you was an awesome experience through and through. glad we've gotten to know each other and i'm glad to see how much you have grown as a person, too, even if it turned you to a retiree.

----------------------

Bouff i'm SO damn happy you were around. you're one of my best friends on the site and probably one of the best people on it, too. i'm gonna keep it short bc i talk to you enough as is, but thanks for everything you did for us and i wish you could've gotten the red, too.

col49 happy talah shoutouts day to you too, col! weren't expecting this, were you now. you're always a great personality to be around and i love talking to you about whatever. you were, admittedly, very useless pokemon wise but it's ok! you can stick to your lil tiers lol. can only hope we get to get one officially, too.

Mana you're as close to a day 1 as i have on smogon, and you being with us for this tour was absolutely fantastic. we really needed your crazy with all the Mr. Perfects itc (looking at Kevin specifically) and spitballing whatever ideas in SS was always so much fun. we also FINALLY GOT PENGROWTH TO WORK!!!!! that was one of my highlights of the tour, it's been over 2 years in the making now, lmfao. love you and please lose wcop finals again so we can win next year :blobnom:

Heroic Troller i lurked the rby channel a lot after you joined bc i knew how good at it you were but damn seeing you help out in person was p insane. everyone knows it by now but seriously you somehow made me like watching rby??? i didn't think it possible but here we are. your hype at the tail of the season and your meme game were nigh necessary components of our season, glad you joined us.

Excal i honestly forgot how recent your add to the team was lmao, you were a really felt presence both during and after the season. i love your attitude and energy with the game, and most of all i'm happy you're my friend.

-----

quick shouts to everyone who helped me with mons stuff throughout the season, especially dice and suapah who helped me so fkin much. also shouts to (also alphabetically) eo, ima, lax, luthier, sacri (im p sure i didn't forget anyone!!).

lastly, to all my amazing friends that have been there for me, love y'all. there's so many ppl i could tag but i'll keep it only to the ones i talk the most to (alphabetically bc im a bitch): Aliss Bouff dice passion starry blanket and many many more. also shoutout to lisa and yves woo yea!!!

Well... well, fuck, haha. I mean, I just don't know what to say. I'm very glad to have been a part of the Wi-Fi Wolverines this season. I'll be able to talk to you about some things that I know a great about - SPL.

Now, everyone knows that SPL is fucked up. And everyone knows that I am fucked up. But, does everyone know that SPL is more fucked up than me?

Well, I know that. And you know that. But our purpose is to tell everyone that.

Take, for instance, the time you played in SPL. You built a team, it had hazard control, speed control, win conditions, and you accepted the challenge. Everything was set.
But you had to call me to come turn on the modchat for you. You didn't know where or how. That is one instance of how fucked up SPL is.

A second instance of how fucked up SPL is ANTONIO UNLEASHED, FEATURING TONY THE TONYMENT DIRECTOR--APPEASEMENT VIGNETTES, VENDETTAS ARRAIGNED--VILE. VILE. VILE. MAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNN.

A third instance of fucked up SPL SWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOR. You had to call me to come show you how PSYSHOCK CRITS IN THE LAST INNING! +3 BREAKS THROUGH THE Fyzikal Defense OF THE SPECIALLY BULKY [BLISSEY / BLISSEY / BLISSEY].

A fourth instance of how fucked up SPL is--the shoutouts. Before I get to the shoutouts, I would like to

An indulgent history of BKC's SPLs, as experienced by BKC

SPL 2
At the time of the draft, my achievements on Smogon were as follows:
  • an affinity for posting in the RMT forum
  • getting tutored by undisputed
  • a 1-2 record in Smogon Tour season 10
  • reaching #2 on the DPP ladder on the Smogon PO server (still proud of this one)
  • not yet having lost in both the final DPP OST (which wasn't referred to as OST back then - people called it ST7) and the inaugural Black and White tournament (I would lose round 3 in both)
  • having the username Blazin Kickin Chicken (dubbed the greatest username on the forums by my idol, Gouki)
It was for this last reason and no other that tab drafted me to Smogon's Greatest Brits. Incidentally, the Brits would later become the Dragonspiral Tyrants (SPL 3), then the Smog Frogs (SPL 4-5), then the Firebot Falcons (SPL 6-8), then the Tyrants again.

I had some incredible players as teammates - Heist (bab), ENZ0, ToF imperfectluck, Krack. Real life meant I wasn't too active in the chat that season, but when I was around, I mostly talked with the former three about DPP; seeing up close just how creative these top players were was a big lesson for me. I vividly remember Heist talking about the utility of Specs Zapdos to lure and destroy Heatran (which he had enjoyed as support for CM Celebi) and testing with ENZ0 and facing off against a Rotom-W lead (which did not exist at all then). The fact he had the then-popular-but-still-underrated Venusaur just made sense to me - of course this top player is using this, he recognizes how good it is. I also remember discussing various potential matchups of a TR Bronzong team with ToF; he advised me to use CB Tar wisely against stall. Eye-opening experiences.

I also remember the drama when ipl brought the then-unreleased Custap Berry to BW ubers, automatically losing the battle as a result. PO was a great simulator, but there sure was a lot of drama around things like this.

I played my first game in week 2, losing to Ciele in BW. I used one of roscoe's teams - I think it was the one with TR Reuniclus. I don't remember much about the game except that I believe Conkeldurr (then known as Roopushin) ran me over. I then didn't play again until Week 9, where I lost to Stone in DPP. I brought AB2's team of screens Uxie, SubChamp, MagmaTran, offensive Cune, CM Rachi and Scarf Rotom. I remember the match started off decently, but I was not expecting Stone's Celebi to be SpDef CM. What a devil of a set. Created by Eo, I believe. Stone likes to remind me of that game to this day. In fact, it was one of the first things he brought up when I met him at Worlds 2014. Anyway, our team still managed to win the week, but not enough went our way, and we barely missed playoffs.

I didn't keep up with the finals games, but the finals thread itself was a hotbed of drama, with luck, chokes, delays and anger. It culminated in Lady Bug winning with Kabutops in BW OU and Scofield's rant post, which was laughed at by most but incredibly relatable to anyone who's been in a similar situation, including myself seven years later.

SPL 3
I had made it to page 1 on the BW ladder and gone fairly deep in some tournaments, but it wasn't impressive enough to outweigh the reputation of being a dumb 15-year-old that I had (deservedly) gained. Thus, I watched, disappointed, as I went undrafted. I had won a tryout DPP game against Atticus, but to no avail. The lesson: tryouts are useless.

Incidentally, that season had some classic drama even before midseason. badabing's guaranteed win interrupted by his Internet, then posited as not a guaranteed win because McMeghan could've gotten the now-legendary Triple Scald Crit Burn. Eternal deciding that Ojama of all people absolutely needed his help, and to use his rain stall at that, only for ifm to emerge victorious using a team of Heatran / Scizor / Medicham / Salamence / Kingdra / Mew. Folgorio misclicking a win into a loss and LizardMan having the gall to say gg. Over my time on this website, I've noticed that every aspect of tour play you can care to name tends to repeat itself, just under different names, and SPL drama is perhaps the greatest example of that phenomenon.

Fortunately, I finally hit #1 on the ladder with my beloved Tornadus Azumarill rain around the time of the midseason auction, and this prompted Blue_Star to insist that the Scooters pick me up at midseason. I've since seen the logs; if he hadn't been as insistent / annoying as he was, I don't think Atticus and co. would've been convinced. Bluewind in particular was wary because of my obsession with Bold Jellicent. (It's true. I loved Bold Jellicent.) Luckily, B_S annoyed them enough (with some help from franky--thanks, f) and they caved. Bless you, B_S.

Once I joined, I truly saw the magic of SPL. We had a great team, both socially and Pokemon-wise. I got to shoot the shit with players I had previously been massively intimidated by - 6A9 Ace Matador, franky, gorgie, Bluewind, uragg, and of course Atticus - both in terms of Pokemon skill and because they were older. However, they were thoroughly accepting - they both took my Pokemon ideas seriously and didn't die of cringe whenever I talked. I cannot express enough how amazing this was for 15-year-old me. AM and I became really close pals. He truly brought the MF ruckus.

Part of really becoming a part of the team meant that while hanging out with my teammates, I was actually watching other games - the only battle I'd watched from the previous season was the one with ipl's Custap Forretress fiasco. Now, though, someone would announce that x game was happening on y server, and I'd rush there, ridiculously edgy metal-themed PO alt in tow (God, they were bad - Banned From Heaven was particularly horrifying), excited to watch with my teammates (and roscoe, who I'd inform on Skype). Here are some snippets I remember:
  • Scimjara's SpikesRade setting up all over KG's CroCune, which let Scim's Emp lead come back and more or less win, as KG's Bliss struggled to switch in with all the hazards.
  • pi face's Gliscor being impossible to handle for Eo's bulky team. Incidentally, Eo had named his Arceus form after another one - I think it was an Arc-Grass that he named Arc-Fighting or Ground or whatever. What a trickster. pi face's Dialga absorbed all Ice Beam attempts and Gliscor stuck around til the very end.
  • Loven's Infernape going crazy.
  • Jcpdragonx being the only person to still run Conkeldurr.
  • The best: Golden Sun vs. KG. The former got quite unlucky, but still looked to have it won...then KG's burned +2 DDtar crit Milotic, and the game was over. This prompted two things: one, a fervent stream of what is now referred to as gassing from KG's #1 fan, Limitless, and two, a virulent torrent of profanity from GS towards KG, getting himself banned from the forums.
Of course, my own teammates' games were the most fun of all, particularly two from our week against the Classiest:
  • Hugendugen vs. ToF. Hugen's +2 Excadrill got lucky and made its way past ToF's Giratina. Some Classiest players were demanding restarts. Majin was not having any of it; he informed them that "i put restart in ur ass." What a hero.
  • windsong vs. SGV. Still possibly the worst game of all time. It was amazing. Thanks to some well-known trickery of PO, the latter's Clefable did not have Magic Guard - it was this thing that depending on how you loaded the team when it came time to the challenge, your Pokemon would revert to their default abilities, even if you had been playing with the team prior and everything was fine. A lot of Gliscors were robbed of their Poison Heal this way. Anyway, Clef was thus ruined by Toxic Spikes, when it otherwise posed a massive threat with CM. SGV's Aggron also posed a massive threat, but it missed a bunch of Head Smashes. SGV's bulky SD Scyther also posed a massive threat, but it got frozen on a Roost. Amazing.
Another funny thing about watching games back then was that GSC and RBY were so completely alien to me. I remember opening Netbattle and being amazed by seeing Laprases and Miltanks go at it...in an OU tier!

SPL 3 was the one season without ties, so playoffs teams were more or less locked in pretty early, including us (barring insane chokes - fortunately, we did not). Thus, we had room to experiment with our 3rd OU slot, and thus, I got to play in week 7 facing against Noodlez, a great OU player I'd faced on the ladder many times. Like a moron, I rushed to play as soon as he asked; I used peng's team that originated Protect Terrakion - Deo-D/Gengar/Zone/Terrak/Dnite/Scizor - faced another Deo-D team and...managed to win. That was a great feeling. For some reason, I played on the name HAMMER SMASHED FACE. I never even liked Cannibal Corpse!

[16:04] <@bkc> ok on second thought i might use that team in playoffs
[16:05] <f> lol
[16:05] <f> endless possibilities when its bw
[16:05] <@bkc> i like that team tbh
[16:05] <@bkc> its alot of fun to use
[16:05] <f> HO is fun to use in general
[16:05] <f> i like myzozoas
[16:05] <@bkc> yeah
[16:05] <f> ho
[16:05] <@bkc> i love protect terrakion
[16:05] <@bkc> fuuuuuuuuuuuck its good
[16:05] <f> yea
[16:05] <f> its getting love now dude
[16:05] <f> did u invent it?
[16:05] <f> i seen someone suggest it on rmt
[16:06] <@bkc> nah i didn't
[16:06] <@bkc> but my buddy did
[16:06] <@bkc> you know penguinx?
[16:06] <f> o
[16:06] <f> o ya
[16:06] <f> i do
[16:06] <@bkc> yeah he created it
[16:06] <@bkc> he posted an rmt with it and ever since then

The idea he thought I might have invented the set was a huge boost to my confidence. I felt like I was finally a real part of this place, both socially and as a player.

Incidentally, the RMT peng had posted with Tectrak was not the team of his I'd used - it was this one: https://www.smogon.com/forums/threads/sticks-n-stones.3462456/

My next game was against Playa, aka DaPlayaFlow, aka DPF, a player whose exploits I'd been aware of since late DPP - he had a really nice Roserade lead team with MixMence and Superachi that I liked a lot, and a really impressive finals win in the first BW WCoP not but a few months prior, where he used wilson46's Slowbro team and outmaneuvered remlabmez's CBNite rain. We had difficulties finding a time because, as remains true to this day, EU-Oceania scheduling is the worst. I stayed up all Saturday night and we wound up playing at 6 AM. Oh, to be a teenager with zero responsibilities again. Anyway, I used my rain team from ladder and managed to beat another Deo-D offense. Azumarill cleaned up, too, just like it always had on ladder. Winning with my own team felt real good.

In Week 9, I went up against SJCrew. I decided to bring the new version of my sand stall team I'd been experimenting with, swapping out Tangrowth for SpDef Celebi and changing Jirachi to WishCM. I messed up pretty bad - I had revealed my Tar was Scarf and attempted to Pursuit his Ninetales, but he stayed in and burned me, and I wound up losing to his Lilligant. In the previous season, I shrugged off the losses pretty quickly because I didn't consider SPL such a big deal - just another tournament - but now that I was a lot more invested, it burned me up. I really, really hated that feeling of screwing up and losing.

So, when semifinals came around...I went on a Monday-Friday trip to the Czech mountains with my high school class. That was really great. Then I came back Friday afternoon and immediately immersed myself in finding ways to defeat McMeghan. I tested a bunch of Deo-D offenses with Bluewind, but nothing seemed to click. Then I brought up the idea of bringing my stall team again given how comfortable it was, and that I was confident I was that I'd be able to outmaneuver anything. Looking back, I'm a little amazed that this idea was approved. Bless them.

Of course, we made changes. The biggest was franky's excellent suggestion of Gliscor > Jirachi to help pivot around Landorus (so that HP Ice Forretress and Ice Beam Scarftar weren't my only checks) and provide the Terrakion check I'd lost by swapping out Tangrowth. AM then suggested a set of EQ/Protect/Taunt/U-turn to grab momentum, a valuable trait for a stall team, and it was perfect. Those who played BW around that time know how dominant VolTurn was - some players wanted to go so far as to ban it in some form - and funnily enough, this addition of U-turn Glisc turned even this team into VolTurn, in a sense, between Volt Switch Forretress, U-turn Celebi and U-turn Gliscor. I normally wouldn't have thought about that, but I actually got a little VolTurn chain going in the game itself. As for the battle, there are some real stakes attached - the series has not been going our way so far, and if I lose, season over.

Here are the logs, courtesy of McMeghan (second hide tag got messed up I know)

This game is followed up by AM vs. Blightbringer. The latter brings mono-Fighting + RD Kingdra.

I am not exaggerating; the team is Infernape, Breloom, Lucario, Machamp, Kingdra and Heracross. So much for our attempted CurseTar sweep.

Breloom's Focus Punch crits WishCM Jirachi. Scarf Rotom switches into Lucario's CC.

"Lucario early on, eh? An offensive genius," AM sneers with disdain, the bravado almost masking how tightly he's clinging to the edge, Skarmory constantly Roosting down on the back foot.

Rotom 1v1s Heracross, eating up the Pursuit.

Heatran dodges Hydro Pump and Explodes on the Kingdra.
"It's okay--I'm Passho! ^_^"
Season alive.

The final battle: Alaka vs. SapphireBirch. Despite the latter bringing Bug Buzz Scizor by accident, we still lose. Happy Birchday, as Earthworm says. Season over.

Despite the disappointing ending, I loved this season. It lit a real spark in me and made me look forward to more tournaments like it. To this day, it remains one of my favorite SPLs. Harder, faster, Scooter. I'm still sad AM didn't get to play Scim, he was raring for that game all season long.

I watched the finals somewhat bitter, but the Ruiners were a great team and deserved to win. The highlight was xtra's CB Ferro Gyro Balling Lucario into oblivion, but Earthworm also pulled off one of the best uses of CBMence I've seen to this day, and McM getting the decisive victory was fitting.

SPL 4.
I was really eager to recreate the magic of the previous season and finish it with a win this time. Nostalgia's always had a powerful pull over me, even back then when the experience wasn't even a year old - that's how great it was. It looked like we were off to a good start early on: I was a 10k retain, we had all of AM/windsong/B_S/Hugen return, gene and Gouki came on as managers, and we managed to draft Ojama...this was our year, right?

Sadly, no. We had some rough weeks to start off, screwing up and tying and losing series we should've been winning, and it didn't take long for the in-fighting to start, including one truly absurd kick war...while one of our guys was playing.

Personally, I did not have a great tournament. One of the things that has frustrated me most about myself is how I hold myself back by not trusting myself and getting into my own head; this SPL was a perfect example. I had some great games, including one that is still possibly my favorite ever, and lots of frustrating disappointments that I kick myself over to this day.

The bad: having a near-guaranteed win week 2, only to get distracted by xtra, who took it upon himself to repeatedly spam highlight me on IRC in the hopes I'd fuck up. Unfortunately, he succeeded, and I tossed the game. Especially stung since we would've salvaged a tie otherwise. Similar and yet opposite to the Adam-John W-talah dance in these finals, lol..............

The ugly: personally finished with a middling 4-4 record that so easily could've been so much better if I'd just had a little more faith in myself. As a team, we were one of the worst in the tournament, and didn't come close to making playoffs.

The good: I still really, really love the week 3 game - end-of-week stakes, chat jawing, tight game. Had some other good ones as well, but this one really might be my favorite ever. Playing RU week 9 was pretty awesome too, though.

I missed a lot of the tour due to real life, but there were still other memories:
  • dragonuser pulling out the surprise Healing Wish ScarfRachi.
  • bro fist having his breakout tournament.
  • danilo having his breakout tournament.
  • Peachy's Sash Tyranitar.
  • august's Scarf Walrein.
  • Blue Eon overcoming Earthworm in a battle for the ages. Includes this legendary quote -
Earthworm: makes up for all the turns he wasn't fped
  • pi face's flinch-happy Genesect forcing the Tigers-Ruiners semis tiebreak.
  • The Tigers-Ruiners semis tiebreak.
  • danilo inventing ADV Camerupt in the finals.
SPL 5.
Thought I was "retired" after Tour and thus wanted to grab that elusive SPL trophy by managing. My concept of my ability to do this with regards to where I was and my age irl was pretty skewed. I was a good manager solely in terms of being helpful with teams and whatnot. As a drafter, though, I was absolutely horrible - very possibly the worst in Smogon history. Not only did i I vastly overestimate people's playing ability, I also possessed zero concept of value or how to draft. Thus, we had an absolutely appalling first half of the season. I also made the mistake of voting for LC and Doubles to be in SPL in the first place...oops...

However, thanks to our MVP Sweepage taking over midseason, we managed to reconstruct the team, and everything fell into place. We were a legitimately great team in the second half. Going into week nine, we had won three and tied one, and we were in playoffs if we beat the Classiest. Sadly, things didn't go our way - a bit of luck here, a misplay there - and we just barely missed it. We really did enjoy that second half, though. It was a lot of fun, especially since a bunch of people joined our chat to hang out.

As always, there were memorable moments, if nothing else:
  • LonelyNess "forgetting" the bid command while 35K into a bidding war with the Ruiners for Bloo, Oglemi deciding this merited an auction reset and allowing LN to upbid the Ruiners by 5 more, giving us the first ever 40K SPL player.
  • The Raiders season ending a few hours after week 1 was posted on Sunday night.
  • dice bringing the infamous SmearGoth, complete with EKiller, minus the E, then bringing an actual team of ubers the following week and winning.
  • Conflict bringing a team with no Spikes and zero offensive presence outside of DrumLax, then blaming the endless game that ensued on Karrot's supposed bullshit passive stall team.
  • Karrot saving our season against none other than Jorgen when we needed him most.
  • fitzy72...
  • The 11-1 win against the Frogs, which I particularly enjoyed because LonelyNess had taken delight in making fun of us early on.
  • The infamous Aldaron-Ginku war.
  • Golden Sun's Magic Meta.
  • Assistant Raiders manager Atticus ditching them at midseason, signing up to play, getting drafted by the Sharks and going 6-0 in DPP en route to winning the trophy.
SPL 6.
Decided I wanted to play again. My "retirement" was a confusing time. I wanted to be on the Scooters again and helped them plan their draft - which actually turned out pretty good - but landed on the Cryos instead. We had a turbulent first week, then quickly turned things around. I had the opportunity to play one of my idols, husk, which was pretty great. I started off really well, then once again, got inside my own head and completely collapsed in the second half, going from 4-0 to 4-5, all for the lofty price of 33.5K. Yikes. We missed playoffs in the last week.

Highlights:
  • Triangles starting out the season with the username "adv" then quickly changing it back.
  • badabing vs. Limitless.
  • #JeSuisAqualouis.
  • Hack's immense mental fortitude in his week 2 game, inspires me to this day.
  • Honus' alt "atlas thugged."
  • This argument I had with cbb, narrated by CasedVictory.
  • The BIGs having a great season. Easily the top team. They shouldn't have lost the way they did. Fuck Focus Blast.
SPL 7.
I decided to manage again. Unfortunately, though my drafting was a tad better, it was still pretty horrific. In my defense, I had not counted on the #1 OU player, cosine180, developing a TagPro addiction that caused him to not give a shit. In spite of this, we weren't a truly terrible team...just a middling, below average one. We did have some great moments - xray was terrific, Jirachee and I came up with some awesome stuff - but it did not feel great to have nearly singlehandedly dragged down my SPL team one way or another for the third consecutive season.

Highlights:
  • teal successfully crit fishing with Focus Blast.
  • Stath's CB Aggron.
  • Go10's CB Pert.
  • Marshall's Smeargle Spiritomb Yanmega team.
  • DPP UU nostalgia.
  • cbb x madoka x Goao.
  • The Ruiners-Cryos tiebreaker.
  • blunder vs. reiku.
  • Ojama vs. Golden Sun.
  • Mono-Ice.
SPL 8.
I wanted to be on the Scooters again, and was disappointed when they retained Star, knowing that wouldn't leave enough money for me. Fortunately, TDK pmed me after, asking if I wanted to be on the Raiders, and I said what the hell, let's do it. After a nerve-wracking pre-draft period in which Valentine threatened to buy me, I successfully landed there and wound up having even more fun than in SPL 3. I also had some nice pieces of drafting by getting rey for 8K (10-0 btw) and Jimmy Turtwig. Turns out all I needed was to not be one of the managers.

It helped a lot that I finally trusted myself a decent amount, and thus didn't hate my own performance. This coincided wonderfully with everything coming together, both Pokemon-wise and socially. The office where I worked in January only had wifi in the lobby, so I would conspicuously sneak down there just to hang out on Discord. Getting to play GSC was amazing. I looked forward to playing Earthworm the entire season; alternatively, I could say I was looking forward to playing Pokemon to begin with and it would be a statement my current self would find similarly difficult to comprehend. That's how much I loved this team. Sunday Raid. In week 8, I went to Starbucks and had the barista write 7-0 on our cup (our record at the time (also rey's and Jayde's records at the time (apex predators of their respective tiers as we were apex predators of the tournament))). I still gitchee gitchee goo this team. Fuck you, Mazar. A shame the Scooters never wanted to play us for finals, lol (because we would've won (just like in the regular season (it wasn't close (we started 0-3 and still won lol)))).

Highlights:
  • im gay.
  • Brayam.
  • ggbl.
  • reyscarfacts (and the Domination of Stall).
  • 100 Hoes Black Barmanitan Dan.
  • [4:04 AM] roscoe: MY CUNE RUNS HP NORMAL IS THIS OK CLUB GOERS?
  • Host.
  • The Sheriff / the origin of GOAT spam (though this could be considered a lowlight)
  • McMeghan's DD Latios.
  • Star's Doduo using Quick Attack.
  • TDK's Trick Room sun.
  • Marowak, regular and Alola.
  • Getting to play Earthworm.
  • Getting to play Ubers.
  • 8-0.
  • Raiders-Scooters tension.
  • Week 6's Raiders-Scooters matchup remains the single most destructive series in SPL history.
SPL 9.
With perhaps the most enjoyable time I'd ever had in Pokemon not yet a year behind me, what did I do? Try to recreate it, of course. I sure have my patterns. Luckily, it kind of worked out, despite my stupid ass price and some stupid ass draft input from me (although I did manage to double cbb's price with some glorious upbidding), and this time we had some great new guys in tow - Jirachee, Pearl, choolio, MetalGross. We had a lot of fun socially and were solid Pokemon-wise...at least at the beginning. I don't know where Rachee got the idea for him to switch to ADV while I played BW, but that change came to define our season, especially as I got to play McMeghan in another one of my favorite games ever.

Fortunately, our good start was enough to carry us through this strange midseason period where everyone fell asleep; then we woke up again and snuck into playoffs in the last week. However, it was now clear that some slots were automatic losses every week. This marked a significant shift in viewpoint for me. Previously, I had believed that the general consensus was too harsh on people's playing ability, but now, I completely 180ed; starting with this season, I became completely cynical about most people's capability to (semi-consistently) win or even play decently (in SPL specifically, since these issues only seemed to exist in this tournament). I also realized how much of a massive drag my price was on my team, no matter how well I did.

Anyway, we managed to tie in semis, despite one of the most infuriating, avoidable losses of my career. Great timing, Kev. Must've been making up for that miraculous RU win. Thank God for the incredible kaori saving our asses. Watching that live was an impossibly tense experience. None of us knew what was going on until the very end. 20 turns of terrified confusion, drawn out and punctuated by each heart-stopping appearance of the timer that began right from team preview. Then it was 3-on-1 and even us singles idiots knew we had won. I rewatched the replay of this game while writing this. It was clinical as fuck.

Thus, we entered a firecracker of a tiebreaker where I had to play SM. I remember standing in the main square of the town I commuted to for work at the time, thinking about how CB Zygarde really doesn't need Outrage at all. During breaks at work, I tried to figure out how to fit Magearna into the team I wound up using. On the bus and subway rides home, I wrote down every combination of 3 attacking moves Protean Z-Greninja could fit alongside Spikes. At home, I tested my ass off - I hated testing, and still do, but it had to be done.

Fortunately, we got through the tiebreak. roscoe texted me live updates of the UU game. I remember exactly where I was sitting when he said TDK had won, to the considerable improvement of my mood. It's incredible how SPL creates these powerful associations and memories for us.

Finals were nerve-wracking in the best and worst ways. The good: getting turn-by-turn updates from roscoe on the ADV game was absurdly thrilling. The bad: watching Manaphy eat the Thunderbolt zapped my soul. The ugly: figuring my shit out in my game after I'd fucked up early. What a fucking heart attack that wound up being. The prayer: going to bed, hoping kaori was going to save us again, then waking up, elated, to see we were tiebreaking. Again.

As soon as my finals tiebreak game finished - that vacillating labyrinth of a game - I realized I was sweating up a storm. It remains the only time that ever happened in my 12 years of competitive Pokemon. The Glowing Zam.

As the battle ended, the clock hit midnight, signifying my 22nd birthday, and one of my roommates came home. I've thought about the significance of those events coinciding a lot since then.

The next day, I was getting ready to leave, a few hours ahead of the scheduled time. I was calm throughout the day; I was confident we would be taking the trophy home. That was an interesting birthday in every aspect. A few hours after I'd left, I felt my phone buzz. Excited, I checked, only to see the text roscoe had sent consisted of nothing more than "lost." Fuck. My disappointment was such that I wound up writing my very own frustrated, defeated Scofield post. Man, I was angry.

Christ, I can't believe this was three years ago. Don't get me wrong - despite the frustrating aspects, especially the end, I remember (most of) this season with great fondness. One cold, gray, wet morning, I sat in this little corner store, waiting for work to begin, and read CTC's goatnalyses; as absurdly obnoxious as they were, they made trecking through the gravel-flecked slush a little easier.

We had a great time. Mostly roasting MG for how he chose to spend $70. As much as I loved the SPL 8 Raiders...well, look how much I wrote for SPL 9.

Highlights
  • Koschei.
  • choolio's Rhydons.
  • Gondra complying with my demands to use all-caps Swans nicknames.
  • Gondra's English, especially when going at it with roscoe.

SPL 10.
Marred right from the beginning because I had gotten myself banned for being a complete idiot in the manner that a complete idiot would. Decided to help the Raiders, attempting yet again to chase nostalgia. God help me. This might've been my absolute worst draft ever - to get SoulWind for, and this is true, 19K, and still fuck it up this badly...Lord Almighty. I had not yet learned how to thread that tricky set of needles - friend bias, player perception, value. Watching this season was really, really rough. It was the single most desolate SPL experience I've ever had. My sincere apologies to everyone I dragged down.

On the bright side, wound up giving talah their first chance. That first chance is everything for later success. They showed me that team with Wish Mega Latias and I was immediately sold. You can show me an awful team with Wish on something and I'll only see the Wish and think it's a sign of your genius. The team was good and all but man, I am a sucker for Wish. What a move. Wish I had been a 50% more effective drafter, lmao.

SPL 11.
L'année dernière, I had decided on a few things going into the season. One - no more chasing nostalgia. I initially tossed around the idea of Raiders 4, especially with such a cheap SoulWind retain, but the interest from the others just wasn't there, and I eventually realized this had to stop - if I wanted to win, I had to go where my odds were best, not trying to salvage something out of a group of friends. Two - I would make my most conscious effort to believe in myself, to play without regrets. Three - I would not ensure my season would be over before the draft ended by going for some stupid price.

Thankfully, I managed to land exactly where I wanted: on Tony's Wolfpack, and for a price that didn't instantly spell disaster, at that. I also insisted we get BIHI (as opposed to us being told to draft him by CALLOUS, as he would later claim), which worked out beautifully. See? I had my good moments (interspersed throughout an endless abyss of disastrously dimwitted drafting decisions).

Anyway, I thought the team looked solid. Personally, I finally felt comfortable playing my games. Prepping was a nightmare, of course, because best of 1 is true hellspawn - but I was finally playing without self-sabotage (for the most part). Sadly, we got off to an unpleasant, choke-filled first half. Midseason was good for revamping the team, and we got better, making a playoff push...but we were not good enough - we kept making the same mistakes, and though we were alive in week 9, we wound up a day late and a Pokedollar short.

Shortly after, I decided I didn't want to play anymore, but I did still want to be a part of this tournament, simply because the social aspect is so great. However, this meant I would have to...manage. Thus, I recruited Tony to manage RoAPL with me - he knew drafting, I knew working with players (but also wanted to learn how to draft) - and took it seriously. It went well. I also started and maintained a document of players I liked ever since then. Nearly every player on that list wound up on another team. Dragon Claw (added to the list back when his name was still Erzengel) and Quaze did not.

SPL 12.
Our draft plan was centered around the idea that ABR should be an autowin most weeks, and could support one other tier with teams, which should be enough to offset potential autolosses that are an inevitability with prices like his. Funnily enough, ABR swore there was no way he should go above 29 or so. Perhaps he internalized this belief and it translated to his performance on the battlefield. Fortunately, his value extended beyond his own slot, which is a big part of what made the buy worthwhile. In support of this Excellent Plan were two top-notch retains in SMB and Star. We almost didn't even retain the latter, yet he wound up being the autowin ABR was supposed to be.

The draft itself went almost exactly to plan, with two exceptions; one, ABR being way too expensive (as he then proved in-season), and two, the Tyrants snatching elodin. On the bright side, this freed up the money to grab both shawyu and Gary at the end.

I was happy before the season started because we had a thoroughly active chat thanks to the many blabbermouths we drafted (and added). There is no greater killer of a team's season than a dead chat. Thus, right before week 1, I flew to the States for a 2-week vacation, satisfied that we had drafted a largely self-sufficient, competent team.

Week 1.
Jetlag meant I was waking up real early, and since I had time while I waited for my buddy to wake up, I was able to offer some input. Overall, I was pleased with how everyone was working together.

However, it only took a few days before I was ready to write the season off and give up on SPL forever. The first reason was that prior to the season I had written up one of my diatribes on using the timer and not throwing away won games; we then proceeded to do just that multiple times. The second reason was that our fucking 36K GSC player fucking insisted on fucking praying for matchup with fucking Baton Pass, and predictably got destroyed when the game didn't go exactly the way it needed to. It felt like such a waste of a loss when the tie or win were so close, and I was ready to just no longer bother if this is what the whole season was going to be like.

Thankfully, the level-headed Tony served to balance out my extreme reaction - marathon, not a sprint and so on. talah and Star also demonstrated an early glimpse of the monstrous seasons they would go on to have.

Week 2.
I was similarly ready to give up here - we got off to a 2-0 start, then lost 5 in a row. There's only so much that could be blamed on luck, too, as this wouldn't have been as dire a spot if we had been better week one; starting the season with two losses is as deflating a death knell as any. We still have talah and Star left, but they're playing lax and Fakes - having to beat both is a tall task, and there's still another game left after that. Luckily, they both come up big, and we rely on Bloody alfa to finish the job.

Even if I was online, I tried to not watch our games live this season - they were too stressful. I did watch this one live, and the whole time, I was regretting my choice to do so. My proclivity for doomsday prophesying meant that even at the end of the game, I was convinced we were going to lose to Suicune or something. If I allowed myself to think that we were fine and going to win, then the universe would ensure that we would not. I am really superstitious about this stuff, and not without reason. During Star's game earlier, I had allowed myself to relax, thinking we were good to go. He promptly switched Marowak into Toxic.

Thankfully, Bloody played one of the tightest, most relentless games in recent memory, and in doing so saved our season. I don't hesitate to say this was the most important game of the tournament for us. 0-2 would've been tough to rally back from - even if it is possible, people are going to start checking out mentally. It's a daunting task to start so far behind, and it would've been really tough to make it this year, given how point-heavy and tight the playoff race wound up being. I was still wary, but for the time being, I felt slight relief.

Week 3.
I am really, really glad that accidentally giving mael Guts Machamp didn't cost us the win this week. (Still amazed he managed to bring that one back anyway, despite getting foiled at the end. Incredimael. I just came up with that.) Thanks for covering for me, guys.

Star and talah kept it going, and at last, everything else started to fall into place. Erz and Tace got on the board. ABR did too, to general astonishment. At 5-4, we once again needed one more win, and in his debut, Gary carried us over the finish line (despite not Thunder Waving the Zam). Suddenly, our contention felt a lot more realistic; all our slots were genuine contenders, i.e. no autolosses, and we just had to iron things out.

Week 4.
Okay, we finally got a win. What's next? Facing the T*rants, of course. I don't think I can write about them with any sort of politeness, real or feigned, so I will just move on.

I will say I was very pleased with everyone's tenacity in acquiring the win this week. Gary, Relous and Tace played some particularly gritty games. This week was also important because I talked Erz out of stall. I don't think it was the only reason the game was lost, but it marked the last time I would question Erz's instincts. Oh, and ABR lost again, and in doing so made GSC Donphan look bad when it's really quite good.

Week 5.
Week (# of ABR's wins out of twelve games this season) saw this group of stalwart individuals not only take down another top team, but to do so without the weekly win from Star they had been blessed with thus far. At this point, I genuinely felt confident and even hopeful. It was with pride that I observed everyone enjoying each other's company.

Week 6
See the previous week, except this time we managed to win by a margin of 7-3 as opposed to our previous slew of 6-4s. This wasn't even the most miraculous feat achieved by our team this week; that honor would go to ABR, who won his second consecutive game (nice work man!).

Also, the Chew Machine in all its glory:

Week 7
Seeing as the Raiders 8-2ed both finals teams, it might be said that they were the most impressive squad in the tournament. Knew I should've stayed there. Anyway, this week is testament to the fatigue induced by the prolonged, week-to-week efforts of SPL. It is thoroughly difficult to maintain the same level of focus throughout the tournament, and that can be seen in some of our more egregious slip-ups this week. Luckily, we had previously done well enough to where we could afford the wake-up call - we just had to ensure we heeded it and didn't completely collapse in the last two weeks, seeing how close the playoff race was shaping up to be.

Week 8
One of the worst things in team tournaments is begging your teammates to care. Tony and I did not have to do that a single time this entire season, not even after week 7's exhaustion-driven loss; everyone gathered themselves and came back strong. Manectric Talonflame gaming was another one of our games I watched live, and I'm really glad I did. Admittedly, we did bailed out by Relous's Sash Weavile completely bullshitting a -2 Specs Latias.

The week was capped off in spectacular fashion - we could potentially have playoffs locked in if Bushtush won and eliminated the Sharks.

Turn 15
The opposing Xatu used Night Shade!
(Ferrothorn lost 29% of its health!)

Ferrothorn used Worry Seed!
[The opposing Xatu's Magic Bounce]
The opposing Xatu bounced the Worry Seed back!
[Ferrothorn's Iron Barbs]
[Ferrothorn's Insomnia]
Ferrothorn acquired Insomnia!

Oh, never mind.

However, Bush did not give up. Keldeo rain stall would not be denied. It Toxiced the Rotom; Chansey got the rocks up; Tentacruel got the spin off--and as always, broken Gliscor won the game. In that moment, Bushtush howled as loudly and proudly as any wolf. (I wanted to say wolverine, but I checked, and they do not howl.)

Week 9.
Thank God for the week off. As mentioned previously, this tournament is draining like nothing else. I also fully believe we would not have won this week and achieved the #1 seed had it not been for this masterpiece several years in the making:

Finally, ABR notched his second two-win streak, prompting him to decide he'd had enough winning for the season.

Semis.
Logging in late Saturday and seeing a 1-3 score was certainly unpleasant. However, I noticed something else: the server had been renamed to THE DRAGON CLAW SHRINE. Upon reviewing the replay, I determined that 1) I had definitely made the right choice for my health by not watching live, and 2) the server name was well-deserved. This win's power was such that it allowed us an optimistic mood despite the deficit; The God Claw had set it up so that we could still win even if/when ABR lost. Tony reminded us that we had several great players left to play (and ABR, but Tony either neglected to mention that or had deluded himself into thinking playoffs would be any different), and indeed, every remaining player except ABR won. Bloody started things off with a game every bit as measured as the one that had saved our season some two months previously. Relous and Star were without misstep as they kept it going.

Sometimes, I try to tell myself that my superstition has no basis in reality. The most recent such incident was when I made the mistake of watching the GSC game of this series live. "Oh, this looks good," I said to myself, "now we'll guarantee a tie with talah and Tace left to play." ABR promptly sacrificed Zapdos.

I chose not to watch the last two games live, as I decided not to risk any further jinxes or heart attacks. I'm not saying the former helped, but it certainly didn't not help, as talah came up incredibly clutch, courtesy of their genius idea to equip Skarmory with Speed the likes of which haven't been seen since the late Cretaceous. The latter definitely helped, as I did not have to see Tace's Zeraora go down in real time; fortunately, he made the fullest use out of the rest of his team, including the most determined Toxapex I've ever seen, and we were off to the finals.

Finals.
A fitting finals matchup.

Just like in semis, Saturday concluded with a 2-game deficit. Fortunately, as established previously, this was a team that did not live and die by individual slots; instead, they stepped up for one another. Despite rough overall seasons, mael and SMB clutched when we needed them most.

I've been angry many, many times throughout my time on Smogon. However, I can hardly recall an instance of greater fury than when I repeatedly asked ABR to stop being antagonistic on Smogtours during talah's game, to no avail; he kept going, provoking more and more responses, which of course led to a Moltres death sadder than when Lugia Aeroblasted its lights out in Pokemon 2000. I screamed like Shinji in End of Evangelion when I realized that this egomaniac needed to be a jackass so badly he was willing to sacrifice his own teammate for it. Obviously, blame falls on talah as well - but I've seen games lost in a lot of stupid ways, and "distracting my teammate by repeatedly provoking their opponent" is possibly the stupidest. Of course, then there was the redemption in the tiebreaker, where all was forgiven as Kommo-o set up and just kidding, it switched into Magma Storm.

But I'm getting ahead of myself. We dropped to 2-4, but once again, Tony reminded us just who was left to play. Just because they did it every week didn't make Relous and Star's wins any less huge - then, Gary carried us to a guaranteed tie, finally overcoming stupid fucking Cloyster. It was all set up perfectly for ABR to bring it home...except not. Admittedly, the way he lost this time really wasn't his fault.

The tiebreaker was pretty awesome for me - I would just be getting in the way if I tried to help in the tiers chosen, so all I had to do was sit back and feed the illusion that all three slots could win while once more trusting talah and Star to finish the job. Season summarized.

Twister.
I cannot understand how you are so level-headed and unfailingly optimistic; I can only admire and aspire to it. Thank you for giving me a chance. Lekker.

Eternabeam.
Before, you were a great teambuilder. Now, you are a great teambuilder and a great player. Keep it up. I cannot wait for Michael Gira and Lisa to collab.

Dragon Energy.
I was like you once. A long time ago, but I was. It was worth having you around just for such a reminder, but you're more than that - you're a great player despite your birth year of 2008. Trust yourself and have fun with your prime Pokemon years.

Max Wyrmwind.
Being able to play under pressure is incredibly important, and it's something most players struggle with - but you are ice cold in such situations. Thank you for saving our season and being an effervescent part of the team throughout. You are passionate as hell, which is perhaps the most important thing of all. Please never capitalize the a in alfa.

HP Dragon.
Being nervous is natural, but if there's anyone who doesn't need to doubt their ability yet does, it's you. All you need is a team you like and you execute it with precision. Never let anyone tell you Gliscor isn't the answer. Thank you for being way more active than I expected - it was nice to see you enjoyed being part of the team.

DRAGON CLAW.
You were one of the first people I wanted on this team, and for good reason. I appreciate your appreciation for the beautiful metagame that is ORAS almost as much as I appreciate what you do in it. Plus, your enthusiasm for simply watching your teammates play was as touching as it was infectious. Not only did we name every other member of the team after you, we wound up naming the entire server after you. Caps warranted.

Roar of Time.
I know you wanted to DPP, but I'm glad you stepped up to BW. You were genuinely excellent despite not touching the year in over half a decade. I'm also glad you didn't get discouraged while we navigated the clusterfuck minefield that is building this often absurd tier - instead, you remained engaged and active the whole time. You were unquestionably the Anatoly Solonitsyn of this team.

Dragon Darts.
I'm really happy that your mindset is so much healthier these days. It's inspirational to watch you be be so devoid of ego and truly just enjoy the game to the absurd extent that you do. We all thought you choked by saccing Dnite in finals, but it turns out you were way ahead of all of us - when you really focus, you have a great Pokemon mind. It's a little mind-boggling to think of how far we've come since the days of #overused.

Spacial Rend.
A Little Cup player has become the SPL MVP, but not for Little Cup. Somewhere, blarajan has mixed feelings. There is no denying you are genuinely elite now. Pulling triggers the way you do is one of the rarest skills in Pokemon, and you now have a real nice eye for teambuilding too. Thanks for carrying Adam's dilapidated carcass--sorry, shining bright--right to the very end.

Clangorous Soul.
The entire team and I have given you a lot of shit thus far. We are blessed in being able to do this because nobody knows how valuable you are more than you do, as seen in your many bold proclamations that are undeniably true. You were 36K and went 5-7, 0-3 in playoffs, and yet we do not win this tournament without you. But you already knew that. Thanks for everything. Congratulations on Baton Passing the hyuk elsewhere.

Dragon Rage.
Pokemon is weird; you can have one of the most dominant years ever, then just have a crappy tournament. It happens to the best, and you are undeniably one of them. You would not have come up as clutch as you did in finals if you were not. Thanks for sticking in there - you earned this trophy.

Dual Chop.
I actually protested when Tony first brought up buying you, but I'm really glad I caved. If chat presence OU was a tier, you would be one of its best players. I wholeheartedly believe that following your (successful) attempt to beat Pokemon Emerald with a level 5 Treecko brought us closer together as a team. This is not to downplay your Pokemon contributions, of course - you tested with everyone, you offered suggestions (even a very important one in DPP once--incredible), and you were always ready to play if we needed you. I'm officially a convert.

Draco Meteor.
You are so astonishingly nice it makes me want to be a better person. It's the kind of niceness that makes me think it's an act, there's no way anyone is actually this kind - but you are as genuine as they come (as evidenced by you being the first to eviscerate ABR when presented the opportunity). It legitimately makes me happier. I'm glad you found your stride Pokes-wise - you were an indispensable part of this team's OU as well as making the chat as great a place to hang out as it was.

Dragon Pulse.
You are exactly what every manager wants - a team player. You have the capacity to be an absolute terror, as anyone who saw your first game this season would agree with. However, even when you're not playing, you're still as active as you would otherwise be. You offer help in way you can, you like hanging out with your teammates, and you are genuinely nice as hell. Keep playing. Also please never stop saying wiz instead of with - it makes me smile every time.

Core Enforcer.
You were the other player on my initial list that we managed to get. It speaks to the strength of this team that you were a sub - you start on most teams, and that was what I envisioned you as at first. You were always raring to play, and I love that hunger. I hope you play again next season - you are really talented at everything save for landing High Jump Kick (abandon this move forever; embrace Relous' Way of the Glisc).

---

Dynamax Cannon.
It was great to see you as another participant in Leru's rom hack adventures and your easygoing nature was great for the chat in general. Please procrastinate less.

Devastating Drake.
Your endless willingness to test with mael saved my sanity. Like with Mana, I'm really glad you didn't sign up because you are too great a chat addition to pass up.

Dragon Hammer.
Thanks for helping and being yourself, as always. You're still a genius.

Scale Shot.
I never thought I would meet someone who lives and breathes DPP as much. Holy Xerxes.

Dragon Dance.

In all my years playing competitive Pokemon, I have never truly "quit" playing in tournaments - not even last year, when I decided to take a big step back. I'm certainly not disappearing or anything close to it - check out my Youtube, lol. However, for the first time, I do not see myself playing in anything serious for the foreseeable future. I'm not making any strong claims one way or another - I've seen enough quit posts to know how those go. I could play again in a few months, or in a year, or not at all. Not long ago, any such thought would be ridiculous to me - even when Pokemon most made me want to rip my hair out, I didn't see myself not continuing to play it like I had. Skipping a single tournament felt wrong, much less an extended break. For me, this change has not come of some desire to quit cold turkey - it's a series of various life circumstances gradually settling in.

Looking back at these previous SPLs has made me think of what I was going through at those times; a whole lot of life has happened since I first joined this tournament. As mentioned before, many of these life circumstances are strongly associated with this tournament as a result of how much of an investment it is - not just the Pokemon, but the people. Coming back from whatever real-life thing, no matter what time, and logging into the team chat to see everyone active and hanging out is one of the best things ever. That's why the best experiences are always tied to how much fun the team environment is. This season was a perfect example.

I've been chasing this trophy since I was fifteen. Thank you to the Wolverines for dragging my old ass across the finish line. You were genuinely inspirational - if there is anything that's made me want to play again, it's been watching you.

Better late than never right? This tour was really a blast. To my wolves - thank you for trusting me week in week out, whether that was to win (which I didn't always do, shocker I know) or build / pick the right teams. I'm really glad we all came together and pushed through until the end. We are a family and a unit - guiding, trusting, and improving one another every step of the way. Love only

TonyFlygon: You managing me = 100% success rate in SPL, just saying. We've done countless tournaments together at this point and I wouldn't have it any other way. No one else comes close to your thorough, calm, organized, and confident approach to managing. You planned most of the winning draft, kept emotions in check, told me to use Zapdos, and (slowly) updated scheduled times. Thanks for losing WCoP and SSD again to enable the follow up SPL win. Also thanks for managing me in real life too. I appreciate your presence every day and every way. Love you forever.

BKC: You are the main reason I signed up for this tournament. We’ve won our WCoPs together but the universe always was imbalanced with you lacking the red. We had a solid run last year, spearheaded by your astonishing ADV performance, but it still wasn’t enough. I’m beyond glad that we kept the same core, just swapping a few pieces around. You’re also one of my closest friends on here and I love spending every minute with you. Whether it’s linking shits (for giggles), advising my love life, or reminding me to use the Good Shit (not the kind you secrete), you’re always a joy to be around. Never change Kevin.

I value the both of you a #terrific amount. I don't even know how to properly put it into words but just know that it is, in my heart, the deepest of truths.

~

Bloody alfa: Alfa as fuck. You are full of excitement, passion, and motivation. You love your team and always bring this high energy wherever you go. Even when you were busy and being exploited at work (talah don't blame capitalism) you still found a way to make time for your team. You put in serious work prepping and won some absolutely pivotal games for us. Both games vs Luthier in particular (the one vs both Luthier and Kenix as well as the semis one) were beyond massive for our team. We needed you and you delivered, that's all there is to say.

Dragon Claw: "We don't want Adam to overwork himself in ORAS but we don't wanna spend too much either, what do we do?" Get the God Claw, of course. We worked together to help Kevin in ST and I was immediately amazed that someone could actually understand the tier so well. I'm so used to disagreeing with people or just not liking how they think but it was very easy to see that you knew what you were doing. We were ALWAYS going to get you, especially for fucking 3k. As the season went on I became more and more impressed with how well you knew the tier. You were original, calculated, and efficient all at the same time. You made stunning teams and played spectacular games, continuing to impress throughout. Your semis game is legitimately an all time great performance. Your overall love and passion for the pack is also unrivaled. I'm extremely glad we got to share this experience together.

GaryTheGengar: I always thought you were a solid player but a bit of an unreliable personality. When Kevin pushed us to get you I was a bit hesitant but holy fuck was he right. It somehow went from "eh maybe he can sub in to fix a hole at some point but doubt he plays" to "wow this is one of our most reliable slots, sensational games every week." Your very first game vs Frania was massive for our team and it set the stage for all your games this tour - us needing you and you delivering. Thank you for being patient as Kevin and I went through the cycles of: sand is the only way -> eh maybe we'll get counterteamed let's try rain -> ok rain is dogshit, weatherless? -> nope dogshit too let's just use sand but tweak it -> ite nah every team needs 2 psychics and a spiker. I mean we literally went through what, 20 options for finals? You're a phenomenal teammate and a phenomenal player, was an absolute pleasure to team with you.

Leru: 2 years later, 7.5k less, here we are. All jokes (such as the infamous meta sac august bruno elodin obii Star teal6) aside you were great to have around. In the very first week you tested with me for hours to establish the optimal paths for Sand Attack Team. You were always willing to help out in any way possible, and were a great presence to have around. Congrats on your Treecko run. Try not to get banned for scheduling and try to work on your sleeping / eating habits. Good luck.

mael: Resilience. You had so many games that were impossible to overcome given the amount of horseshit involved. But you stayed strong and kept the fire going every single week. Even when the tier or teams didn’t feel right you still put the work in over and over again. And after all that, you won the biggest of them all in finals. You’re patient, genuine, and diligent. Also please don’t let anyone corrupt your pristine sleep schedule.

Quaze: :nohjk: Actually though stop using that horrendous excuse of a move. You’re an amazing player and an amazing teammate. It’s a shame you didn’t get to play more but I know we’ll see it soon. Still you were always around to test and offer input when you had an opinion, never afraid to speak your mind. You have a fire in you like few players do, embrace it and you will be rewarded. Also I promise I’ll watch that movie at some point.

Relous: You were in the plans day one. I knew we worked well together during our brief time last year and it seems you had the same impression. It is VERY hard to find someone who 1) acknowledges Gliscor balance as the best and 2) actually plays it well. You played in the most calculated and precise way possible legitimately every single game. Thanks for being patient and also vocal about what you wanted - if you weren't feeling something you spoke up and I can't overstate how important that is. Remember to load one of sd Glisc / Volc and you will win.

shawyu 1313: Always positive and always willing to help. I've seen so many people just shut down and stop caring about their team when they're no longer starting but that is so far from the case wiz (ik, hilarious) you. You were consistently there to help in DPP and BW by offering both advice and tests all the time. You put in an admirable amount of effort and it is so hugely appreciated. You're also good as fuck and I want to see you play more in the future too.

SMB: We've teamed several times by now and you are never not reliable. Even if your regular season wasn't as good as we hoped the retain still paid off big time with your most important win of the season. You shrugged off the setbacks, stayed composed, and came through when it really mattered for all of us. I know you aren't the most vocal person either but you're still a great presence to have around. Thanks for putting up with my judgmental self in RBY prep too. Jolteon still sucks but it works for you i suppose. `

Star: At long last my gassing is validated. Tony, Kevin, and I all knew we wanted to team from the start but damn did it pay off. You're 17-4 over the last 2 SPLs somehow. Obviously you'd always have a record that good, just hard to be motivated when your other teams are usually so shit. You're my go to man to tag for team advice in any tier and I always want to team with you. But this time you went way beyond that and won 10 (ten) games total, including the tournament clincher. I'm happy you finally got to prove just how amazing you are.

Tace: The fact that you were able to handle SPL at the same time as Trigonometry is astounding. The pengrowth game was legendary as fuck too. You played some rigorously tight games and gave each of them your best until the very end. Staying calm and composed after setbacks is something not everyone is capable of but you certainly are. Remember to trust ice beam and certainly don’t trust triple axel without wide lens.

talah: Ah look how far we've come. From sworn cultural enemies to allies on all fronts, it really is beautiful isn't it? I was super on board with getting you (as was everyone else) from the start but I was worried that you wouldn't be comfortable teaming with my (formerly) bigoted ass. I told Tony about this but he spoke to you and reassured me that it wouldn't be an issue. You were a real leader in SSD in terms of playing and teambuilding so it really made too much sense. You ended up doing the same here but even more spectacularly. You were the leader of the SS crew and said your piece on SM too. You're fucking unbeatable when you take meds and ignore opponents too so please remember to do that. Proud of you for making up for it (the horrendous choke if that wasn't clear) in tiebreak but there was never a doubt after that. Thanks for giving me multiple chances on personal matters and for also linking the stunning Lisa daily.

TPP: Not to parrot everyone else but how the FUCK did Tony get nicest user over you??? You really go the extra mile to make sure everyone feels good and it is definitely noticed. You didn't play a ton directly but your OST run definitely shows you're more than capable of it and I hope you continue to play more and more. You were huge for us in terms of prep/building too, and an absolutely essential aspect of our SS core. Keep being the smile causer, it is always appreciated.

~

Bouff: The second nicest user on Smogon, right after TPP. Always extremely wholesome and eager to help out in any way possible. You dedicated a ton of time and effort to our team and it is so hugely appreciated. You felt like a member day 1, playing the games with us and being involved in so many ways, thanks for being you bro.

col49: A staple for all Tony teams. Talah put it best when they said you were useless pokemon wise but still nice to have around from the start lmao... EV'ing is a sacred art too never forget your roots.

Excal: You were only around for finals but that alone was really big for us. You provided that gorgeous team and it really came through for all of us. I look forward to more Camerupt, Quagsire, and Umbreon teams from you.

Heroic Troller: The RBY goat, you've been a premier ally for a good amount of time now and I always enjoy having you around. You put in a ton of work for us and I really appreciate that. I really hope you win this tour some day.

Mana: It's a shame that you're so fucking lazy because you're mad good and creative. You were always willing to bounce ideas around and test in multiple tiers, and are also just super chill in general. This isn't the first time you've helped Tony and I win an SPL either. I hope you get back on the field yourself for Classic and give it a serious go, you'll obviously do great again.

roscoe: Unfortunately you didn’t have much to do without Carl to pick on.

Enjoy the breeze

Must listen to this while reading

You- Approaching Nirvana

First of all, thanks to the hosts and everyone who contributed to make this tour as smooth as it went, you guys are very underestimated and not thanked enough. So voilà, thank you so much :blobnom:

Secondly, it is with big pride that I can say the following: it has been an immense honor being part of the wolverines this season. You guys are an astonishing group, and one cannot imagine to be in a better group other than this one you guys created. Mentality wise, hardworking, never doubting, kindness, willingness to help anyone and putting a big effort to maintain a hell of an atmosphere are the words that come in my mind whenever I think about you. From week 1 loss, to week 2 tie, into being down 0-3 in finals, never once I felt out of place or felt that our team motivation was on the floor. It takes a huge amount of maturity and greatness to achieve this level of “keep going” mentality, and I must say I’ve been astonished by that every time I entered our chat.

Raise your chins, look at the skies and howl with all your hearts, because right now Wolves cannot be prouder. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for making this one a hell of a ride, and be sure that if you ever need a hand or anything, there is a Bloody wolf around ready to be here for all of you. For the last time:

AWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I love doing these, so expect an extremely long shoutout. I advise you to take a cup of hot chocolate and enjoy this.

- My history in smogon

6 years ago, and with Bloody wolf as a nickname, if you searched enough you’d find me in a forgotten French pokemon site known as Pokébip. I was simply playing online battles on my Nintendo with a few French friends of mine and trading pokemons while having fun late night discussions with nerds about mangas etc.

One day, and while I was looking for a pokemon while proposing what I had with a friend of mine (roman if you read this, where are you LOL you kinda disappeared man), a random dude told us “yo guys, you’re more likely to find what are you looking for in the showdown server” and then he linked PS in the chat. From there, it’s the usual story of anybody who entered showdy for the first time. You start trading, and then slowly building into completely abandoning the game to devote yourself to this.

A few days after me discovering showdy, I made an account in smogon (I don’t know why I choosed Bloody alfa instead of Bloody wolf), and from there I started building, laddering and continuing having fun with my French friend. One day tho, while talking in the Spanish chat, I read the following from somebody “yoo -names a dude on the chat-, bring you ass over here we’re having a clan war”. I started looking and asking for this weird place where you can have “wars”. After a few hours of randomly asking everybody, I was provided with a link: pandora.psim.us.

When I entered that server, I discovered that they indeed had a system about clans and then having live wars in what they called “warrooms”, with a point system where the winning clan gets points and clans are classed by the amount of points they have. I quickly joined a war and started playing those, not knowing that this decision would make the following years one of my best teenager years ever. It is in this server and that year that I had the opportunity to know and be best friends with a lot of people (Gondra, Enzonana, Lycans, Mandex, Testa di pulpo, Klaus, Wamr, Nobell, Thueris, Rolo, and a lot more)

In the upcoming months after me joining pandora server, I meet up with a lot of people that ended up being my closest friends, be it in the online life or in real life. It started with me joining The Real Ampharos, a clan who was composed with literally the worst players in the site, me included LOL. Gosh we we’re absolutely washed by every team, but we had a lot of fun, and by a lot, I really mean it. This clan died after a few months, so I tried to join a clan that was kinda “secretive” and didn’t accept everybody, and who had better players. This was The Real Killers clan, leaded by our lord and savior teso24 and the funniest and most lovely person I had the opportunity to talk with at that time: El Abogado, better known as Klaus now. He and I had a little business before me joining TRK, where I actually paid him like 1000 pokedolares (pandora’s currency) to link me a stall team he builded and spammed everywhere. When I tried to join TRK, I expected him to make me do tryouts or go thru some obscure shit ritual to give my absolute loyalty to his clan, but he ended up saying something along the lines of “ohsi welcome my drug partner”.

There I ended up knowing who’s gonna be the guy that pushed me to become better and better at this game. If you ever ask anybody in the latino community about an urban legend who his genius mind made him build a freaking sticky web+trick room team and told the people when he was asked about it “it’s in case I don’t have tr any more :v”. By now you clearly guessed that this guy was the Storm zone of 2016, and surprisingly we got along very quickly. We started doing ladder races, we joined every goddamn room tour in PS, and tried to do something on smogon by joining tours yadayada blabla. And then OLT started, and with that, what had to be the most stressful yet enjoyable experience I had in 2016 with my buddy.

We laddered like two absolute demons, each one playing while the other watching and vice versa. Rolo topped the ladder at one point, but then quickly dropped, and same for me. We insulted the very soul of our existence, we laughed like never and cried like two retardeds and then started again the next cycle. It was at that point that he showed a lot of promising skill and an absolute steel-hard mentality, but in the end, he didn’t make it. It was even more painful because I ended up qualifying to playoffs, but my motivation was negative 0. How could I play a tour when my partner in crime is not playing? I quickly lost interest, and it showed when I played xtra in R1. I won g1, got haxed g2 and then from there lost g3 because of me playing lazely and chocking for 10 turns in a row. In losers bracket I ended up being paired vs pdc, but we didn’t even play as we had a conflict of schedule where he won the act (to this day I still believe it was wrongfully given to him), so I quitted smogon for a brief moment and went back to pandora to only focus on having fun.

Back at pandora and with TRK dying, I thought why not make a clan myself. At this moment, another friend of mine sent me an pm stating that he wanted to make a clan, so I was like “hell yeah this gonna be fire”. That man was named Arcaninseanps19, and we quickly became super friends with Rolo. We created Howl Of Wolves (better known as HOW), and from there we builded what has to be the most problematic and shittalkers trio on pandora at that time. Basically it was Arcanine, Bea and me fucking anyone who had the balls to insult us or shit talk us. We had a lot of fun, we lost a lot of wars, we won a lot of em, and we made a lot of friends and enemies. After a whiiiiiiiiiiiiiile, HOW ended up being inactive, so we killed the clan to take a break.

I went back to smogon again, played a few tours, made a few more friends there, and then went back to pandora again to have more fun. It was at that moment that we made another clan, named Fearless Killers (FK), and with Thueris and a few more friends, we absolutely dominated pandora’s clan rankings. We we’re the first clan to achieve 20K clan points, and it didn’t stop there. But we quickly realized something very sad: pandora was dying as a server. People we’re not coming a lot like before, and I believe it was at that time the Admin of pandora quitted the server too, so it was an inevitable end. Pandora died, and so all clans, so we moved to showdown again and played there for a few months. My memories are not clear, but I believe after a few months (or days maybe?), LA community builded another server because of the high demand from pandora’s (now dead) community. They builded what was called Destiny, and with this server having the same clan wars system etc, I took my friends and went back to making another clan and having fun like in the past.

We started doing the usual in destiny, and between wars, shit talking and having fun, I had the blessing of making a few more friends there. It was at this point that my path crossed the biggest motherfucker I’ve known in this site, and with whom I started 3 years ago building the road to our smogon success. But let me tell you a little story : Destiny’s server had a forum where they we’re holding a few tournaments, and at one point they opened Destiny’s World Cup signups. The thing is, I’m not a latino (I’m spanish), and I wasn’t playing with spain as I didn’t know anybody there, so I signed up but wrote something like “In. If there is any way to make a Rest of the World team, I’d be down to be the manager and put a group together”. I didn’t expect a lot from this, as I knew that a Rest of the World was not very appealing as an idea to the Td’s. Helas, the next morning was a life changing morning for my mons career.

I’d wake up and find that somebody sent me an pm on messenger. It was a man with whom I shared a messenger group for HOW’s, and he was a friends with Rolo. He sent me a message telling me that he was interested in being part of The Rest Of The World, and in fact, he already found the majority of our lineup. This fella was known as Multi, or better known as Lord Thorx on smogon. For the next days, we’d put all our effort in putting together a decent lineup and submitted it to the Td’s. Rest Of The World was accepted, and with a surprisingly mixed rooster with every possible nationality, we went and started playing this World cup. Weeks passed, we struggled a lot, we had many heart attacks, but in the end, WE FOUND OURSELVES IN FINALS against LA (Latin America). Multi and I we’re in big disbelief on how this team was able to reach finals, dropping teams like Spain etc. We went into finals very happy about what we accomplished by reaching finals, but if Multi and I we’re already happy and satisfied about this result, the rest of the team we’re hungry for more. Yes, Rest of the World won that World Cup (The 1st Wcup held on Destiny’s forum). Yes, we did in fact win vs LA who had big names. Yes, we we’re out of our minds from happiness. At that moment, I did not think for once that I’d live a better experience than that one. But again and again, life is a sarcastic lady, and I’d be proved wrong again.

With that Wcop won, and with my partner in crime Rolo taking a big break from mons, my bonds with Multi strengthened a lot more. We basically raided every possible forum, playing everything we can in order to become better and aim for the highest scene, which is smogon. It was around that time that Destiny would inevitably die, and another server (this time a lot more forum based) would see the light: New Origin. They started hosting premier leagues and snake types tournaments, so Multi and I started picking teams and drafting/buying players in order to play and manage in those pl’s. Take your seat, deep breath, and listen to what has to be the most exciting story one can ever dream of. The story of the creation of Sacra Corona, my biggest source of happiness and the most enjoyable group you can ever have in your online life.

Multi and I made what you can call a franchise in New Origin team tours. We made the “Subzero Kyurem’s” our franchise, we spammed it every single New Origin pl and snake. It was in these tours that we ended up drafting/buying Wamr a bunch of times, and although he started his baby cry “don’t buy me I won’t play for you”, he always ended up in our teams. I believe it was after the second time we drafted him when we kept the Subzero Kyurem’s discord server after that team tour, because we believed that the group we had between our hand was so lovely and everybody got along very nicely. Little we knew that over a night, yes over a single night, that group went from a bunch of people who got along because of playing a team tour together, into the best friends ever. Our friendships grew so much that we had to rename the server and make it a jerk so we can have a more familial atmosphere. Until this day, Sacra are without a doubt a family I would never exchange for anything In this world, but later the same year, life would again mock me and my beliefs.

At some point, I got very far in an SM seasonal on the losers bracket, and I got paired vs Caasi in round 7 if I’m not mistaken. We scheduled and played, and after an intense 3 games where he won, he messaged me asking me if I’m really from Belgium, and from there we started talking very frequently. We quickly became friends, and before knowing it, one day he invited me to what I consider my second family in this game and the people that made my skill skyrocket in no time. Yes, welcome to the introduction of BB CREW, my beloved frenchs and my brothers from another mother.

Before I joined BB Crew, I already knew the group from Le Liolae on his OLT run where he reached finals. He shoutout’d a few times the group, so I was rather very very curious about this group and how’d they had such a high skill players (I knew Situm was also a BB CREW member and saw him winning an Ubers seasonal + Rubyblood who played for Benelux at some point). My biggest surprise was when I joined, and how everybody, and I repeat, everybody, welcomed me and made feel at home. I quickly started playing french + smogon team tours with la bb crew, and with that, realized that these people we’re making me play a lot better with their constant supporting and cheering, while making me realize my weaknesses and my misplayings. We entered the infamous smogon corona premier league last year, almost made it into playoffs in one of the most intense last weekend games ever, into winning the french Wcup with my friend Lucix, into making playoffs in a Brazilian clan tour, into finally winning the last french cpl with la crew. No matter how you look at it, being part of this group made my improve in a speed I thought it was impossible, and that was reflected on every smogon tour I entered after joining em. Yes BB CREW, you guys are the first reason I’m in this position right now, and I’m eternally grateful for everything you did. Know that be it online or in real life, I’ll be there for anyone with big pleasure.

Like I said, joining BB CREW was another turning point for me, but this time as a player. January 2020 started with ost, and I was very very determined to make it far, if not winning it. It was at that point that Tony expressed FINALLY (I’ll get back at this later in Tony’s shoutouts) his interest in me playing for Europe, so I was definitely going to do something to at least ensure my spot as Wcup is my favorite tour of all time. But luck wasn’t by my side, and in r5 I got mncmt, and when I had the game and the best of 3 won, mons did what mons do always and got very very shafted. After a little rant, I quickly put my shit together and made another alt and started laddering while taking notes on how I should play every game (turn by turn), and that alone made me almost get the perfect 40-0 (or 30-0) on Dracovish suspect. Taking notes was proving it effectiveness, so I kept going with that, and the covid-19 stopped the in real life responsibilities, so I found myself with a lot of free time. I thought that this was a good time to become a nerd and tryhard smogon, so I shouted at Lio “LETS FUCKING FARM SMOGON”, and the rest is history. Smogtour started, I did what I did to qualify for playoffs, got into semifinals beating Mc meghan who’s believed to be one of the bests and lost to Pohjis on a very very nice bo3 in semis. I gotta say something before continuing ; I believe I’ve never in my life saw so much supporting like the one I received in my Smogtour run (you can check it here https://www.smogon.com/forums/threads/smogon-tour-season-29-playoffs-finals-won-by-abr.3664063/ ), and it is without doubt the most cheerful and cherishable moment of my smogon career. After getting knocked from smogtour, I still had the first SS seasonal to play, so I continued focusing and ended up winning it vs my very beloved friend Beatiful, which made the win feel even better because we knew each other since 2015 and I respected him as a player and considered him as a very very close friend of mine even when we didn’t talk to each other for a long time.

From there, and with Tony inviting me to Europe, Wcup started, and with that my first ever smogon tour team and the one I liked the most. I ended up In a very hard pool (Fmg, Cdumas and Tokyo tom), but the fact that Europe let me do my things, which is trusting my instincts and bring stuff I trusted to work (banded exca, rain, etcetc), I ended up 3-0ing a very respectable and strong pool. My momentum was high, so after quarters where Europe won without me needing to play my game, we faced Germany in semis, a very young yet dangerous group. It is Sunday, and the score is 5-4 with Europe leading, and with me being the last game. Either I bring our finals ticket, or we tie. Again, Europe trusted my build, so I loaded that bizarre half stall half volturn team, played a very nice game vs Gefährlicher Random and ended up winning it. Sadly, Europe would lose the finals vs an unstoppable Italy, but we we’re extremely happy with what we did, since no one believed that the boomers would actually get so far in a full current gen tour.

Snake started, and with me being drafted by the last person I though would draft me (FlamingVictini), so I was looking forward to it. Alas, this tour would be very very difficult for me, as it happens to be the first time I went negative on a team tour. Aside my record (3-4), I was extremely happy to get to know a few people, especially FV who showed a lot of respect and being extremely likeable. When snake finished, and with Uni + life becoming very busy, I thought to myself that it was the best time for me to get away from smogon for a while. Alas, SPL signups were posted, and with all my friends telling me to sign up, I realized that I cannot withdraw without playing what has to be the most prestigious tournament of all smogon. I signed up, got a message from Callous so I thought to myself that playing with tigers sounded very nice. After a few days, tony messaged me, and at that moment the wolf in me woke up and I knew that I couldn’t play for anyone besides the wolves. I expressed my wish to play for the wolves, and since Tony knew how I was, I went into the auction very optimistic. I got nomed by Callous, and with my friends and I on call, we started screaming and cursing until Tony got me for a price I didn’t expect to reach. With the wolves howling, and my determination to make this my last best experience on smogon, week 1 started, and with that, the legendary wolves raid.
