reserving chansey!

:ss/chansey:

with its godly special defense along with its access to eviolite boosting its defenses even further, this lite form of satan gives a hard time to special attackers in general and even with the terrain boost, chansey tanks every thunderbolt from it, forcing koko to uturn out at chansey. therefore it is one of the best checks for tapu koko

calcs:

252 SpA Tapu Koko Thunderbolt vs. 248 HP / 8 SpD Eviolite Chansey in Electric Terrain: 114-135 (16.2 - 19.2%) -- possible 6HKO

252 SpA Tapu Koko Hidden Power Ice vs. 248 HP / 8 SpD Eviolite Chansey: 34-41 (4.8 - 5.8%) -- possibly the worst move ever (rofl)

252 SpA Tapu Koko Thunderbolt vs. 248 HP / 8 SpD Eviolite Chansey: 76-90 (10.8 - 12.8%) -- possible 8HKO

0- Atk Tapu Koko U-turn vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Eviolite Chansey: 68-80 (9.6 - 11.3%) -- possible 9HKO

Ferrothorn @ Leftovers
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 24 Def / 232 SpD
Sassy Nature
- Leech Seed
- Gyro Ball
- Stealth Rock/Spikes
- Power Whip
Ferrothorn is able to eaisly wall koko as tbolt and hp ice bounces off of it and ferro is also able punish koko for u-turning with iron barbs.Ferro is also able set up hazards which will limit koko's ability to pivot around and make it easier for ferro's team mates to kill koko.So i submit Ferrothorn as a counter to tapu koko

:Latias-Mega: (F) @ Latiasite
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Calm Mind
- Roost
- Psyshock
- Ice Beam

Latias-Mega is a counter, it can easily switch in, and roost of any damage and can take advantage of tapu koko and use it to Calm Mind as high as possible. After a CM tapu koko stands 0 chance if it did at all as it gets cleanly 2hko'ed, and cannot touch it back.

252 SpA Tapu Koko Hidden Power Ice vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Latias-Mega: 76-90 (20.8 - 24.7%) -- guaranteed 5HKO
252 SpA Tapu Koko Hidden Power Ice vs. +1 252 HP / 0 SpD Latias-Mega: 50-60 (13.7 - 16.4%) -- possible 7HKO
0 SpA Latias-Mega Psyshock vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Tapu Koko: 133-157 (47.3 - 55.8%) -- 78.5% chance to 2HKO
+1 0 SpA Latias-Mega Psyshock vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Tapu Koko: 198-234 (70.4 - 83.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

:SM/Excadrill:

Excadrill (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Mold Breaker
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 248 HP / 228 SpD / 32 Spe
Careful Nature
- Earthquake
- Toxic
- Stealth Rock / Protect
- Rapid Spin / Protect

The Drill (SpD) is an excellent pokemon in general, and a true switch in to Tapu Koko, able to tank it's attacks easily:

252 SpA Tapu Koko Hidden Power Ice vs. 248 HP / 228+ SpD Excadrill: 51-61 (12 - 14.4%) -- possibly the worst move ever
0- Atk Tapu Koko U-turn vs. 248 HP / 0- Def Excadrill: 43-51 (10.1 - 12%) -- possibly the worst move ever

The Drill user is able to prey upon Tapu Koko at their leisure, neutralizing it's powerful electric STAB & gaining free turns to spread status and control hazards. Koko is forced to U-turn in fear.

Submitting the Toad as a Counter.
:bw/seismitoad:
Seismitoad @ Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Refresh
- Stealth Rock
- Earth Power
- Scald / Knock Off

Toad can easily pressure out Koko with Earth Powers and does not care about TBolt (being a ground type) and HP Ice (being a Water type). It can also block Tapu Koko’s Volt Switches and abuse it to set up SRocks / Knock something off / Scald the switch, and trades it Gastrodon’s recovery for not being passive and shrugging off status with ease.

(proof of pick)

Next Pokemon is a Pokemon everybody loves not only because of its design but it is also an underrated but strong pick on teams:

:ss/gallade-mega:
Gallade-Mega (M) @ Galladite
Ability: Inner Focus
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Close Combat
- Zen Headbutt
- Knock Off

With a strong STAB move combination of Zen Headbutt and Close Combat, a great coverage option and strong move in Knock Off as well as an excellent Speed tier and ability to boost itself with Swords Dance and its great, natural Attack stat allows Mega Gallade to be a decent wallbreaker in the SM OU metagame. Mega Gallade stands out as being faster than Garchomp, Kartana, and other Pokemon like non-Choice Scarf Tapu Lele and Mega Medicham. With its decent bulk it can have setup opportunities most notably against Special threats, which are locked into a move mega Gallade tanks well enough to allow it to perform a setup. So what are some great Pokemon, which can check or counter this knight in its cape? Lets find out, shall we?

Submission Deadline is on Friday. GL everyone :)

reserving m sableye
:ss/sableye-mega:

Sableye @ Sablenite
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Knock Off
- Will-O-Wisp
- Recover
- Protect

Mega sableye, with its awesome matchup vs gallade, gives it an immediate advantage as its typing resists both of gallade's stab attacks, leaving it no choice but to knock off. With will o wisp, sabelye cripples gallade even further by weakening its attacks, and whilst the gallade swords dances, sableye itself does some chip with knock and protect, along with recover to get back health when low. Therefore submitting it as a counter!

calcs:

252 Atk burned Gallade Knock Off vs. 248 HP / 8 Def Sableye-Mega: 28-34 (9.2 - 11.2%) -- possible 9HKO
252 Atk Gallade Knock Off vs. 248 HP / 8 Def Sableye-Mega: 57-68 (18.8 - 22.4%) -- possible 5HKO
+6 252 Atk Gallade Knock Off vs. 248 HP / 8 Def Sableye-Mega: 226-266 (74.5 - 87.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO (>+6)
+6 252 Atk burned Gallade Knock Off vs. 248 HP / 8 Def Sableye-Mega: 113-133 (37.2 - 43.8%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

0 Atk Sableye-Mega Knock Off vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Gallade: 87-103 (31.4 - 37.1%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after burn damage

Reserving Clefable Unaware

:SM/Clefable:
Clefable @ Leftovers
Ability: Unaware
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
- Calm Mind / Heal Bell
- Moonblast
- Wish
- Protect

Nomming Clefable as a check to SD Gallade-Mega. His ability, Unaware, allows Clefable to ignore the increased attack induced by Swords Dance. In addition, his bulk (coupled with a maximum investment in HP and Def) allows Clefable to avoid the 2OHKO from all the possible coverage of Gallade-Mega (even with the Stealth Rock on the field). However, due to the absence of the ability Magic Guard , it is necessary to have a good management of Hazards to accompany Clefable Unaware (especially on Spikes and Toxic Spikes). In addition, Gallade-Mega can try to flinch Clefable with Zen Headbutt (even fish the freeze with Ice Punch or overwhelm with Knock Off + Stack Hazards). Moreover, Gallade-Mega can be used on the slot of Alakazam-Mega or Medicham-Mega on Psy-Spam. Thus, Zen Headbutt boosted by Psychic Field (from Tapu Lele) is even more dangerous for Clefable.

Some Calcs:

-With Leftovers but without Stealth Rock:

252 Atk Gallade-Mega Zen Headbutt vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Clefable: 138-163 (35 - 41.3%) -- 75% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery

-With Leftovers but with Stealth Rock:

252 Atk Gallade-Mega Zen Headbutt vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Clefable: 138-163 (35 - 41.3%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery

-Without Leftovers and with Stealth Rock:

252 Atk Gallade-Mega Zen Headbutt vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Clefable: 138-163 (35 - 41.3%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Stealth Rock

reserving Mslowbro

Slowbro @ Slowbronite
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Slack Off
- Calm Mind
- Psychic
- Scald

Nomming SlowbroM as a check to SD MGallade. MSlowbro resists every stabs from MGallade, thanks to its Psychic type, and doesn't really fear Knock Off because of its Mega Stone.
Some calcs to illustrate:
252 Atk Gallade-Mega Knock Off vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Slowbro: 114-136 (29 - 34.6%) -- 4.7% chance to 3HKO
252 Atk Gallade-Mega Knock Off vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Slowbro-Mega: 80-96 (20.3 - 24.4%) -- guaranteed 5HKO
+2 252 Atk Gallade-Mega Knock Off vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Slowbro: 228-270 (58 - 68.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
+2 252 Atk Gallade-Mega Knock Off vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Slowbro-Mega: 158-188 (40.2 - 47.8%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

While using MSlowbro, you have to be careful when you have to Mega Evolve or not, because each form of Slowbro has its own advantages. Indeed, basic Slowbro has regenerator and can be a good defensive pivot, whereas Slowbro have a higher physdef stat which is helpful if you face a huge physical threat and Shell Armor, which can be useful if you're setting up with CM.
In front of MGallade, you can just absorb the Koff on the switch-in and threaten him of a scald burn, or if the Gallade SD on the SI you can mega-evolve (or not, it would be more risky but playable if regenerator is really needed in the mu) and click scald. If the opponent clicked Koff, you take the hit and answer with scald ( 0 SpA Slowbro-Mega Scald vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Gallade-Mega: 96-114 (34.6 - 41.1%) -- guaranteed 3HKO), and if he ran away, the scald can weaken something and maybe burn an mon on the switch-in.
Pay attention to keep Slowbro healthy (almost when he is mega evolved) and be careful with hazards which can cripple Slowbro.
Even if Slowbro is a real good check to Gallade, it appreciates be paired with mons like skarmory which can also handle physical threat, and therefore allows MSlowbro to threaten to set-up.

Tornadus-Therian @ Flyinium Z
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hurricane
- Knock Off
- Taunt
- Defog

Pretty simple counter. Mega Gallade is unable to OHKO from +0 after Stealth Rock, outside of rare Ice Punch variants, and Tornadus-Therian both outspeeds and KOs with both Hurricane and its respective Z-move (for accuracy).

Skarmory @ Rocky Helmet / Shed Shell
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 232 Def / 24 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Counter
- Spikes
- Defog / Toxic / Whirlwind
- Roost

Skarmory is a strong pokemon in the SM OU metagame and capable of halting SD Mega-Gallade through the combination of Sturdy + Counter. Even at +6 Mega Gallade is unable to break through Skarmory due to Sturdy, while Skarm can KO back with counter. If it devolves into a PP stalling war of SD vs Counter (both have 32 PP), then Skarm can usually spend a few turns either setting up spikes, toxic'ing Gallade or even whirlwinding it out, depending on the 3rd coverage option.

:bw/quagsire:
Quagsire @ Leftovers
Ability: Unaware
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Impish Nature
- Earthquake
- Scald
- Recover
- Curse

Due to Unaware, Quagsire ignores MGallades Swords Dance boosts, and can boost up with Curse alongside it to check it and force it out. However, due to it having a chance to be 2HKOed by CC on the switch / flinched by Zen Headbutt, ill be submitting it as a check.
