Credits to Yoshi for making this thread, which I have taken over.

Here's where the analysis skeleton for each generation will be. Each one will most likely be a little bit different, so make sure you're using the write generation. Just click on the tags here, and they will show up. If you have any questions at all, suggestions, or changes, please drop them in this thread!

As a rule of thumb, full analyses require 2 QC and GP Checks, and mini analyses require 2 QC Checks and 1 GP Check. Partial rewrites use 1 QC Check and 1 GP Check. However, you may occasionally be told to have different amounts of QC/GP checks by the QC Team, in which you should follow their request.

[OVERVIEW]

Generalize what the Pokemon does in the metagame and as a whole and why you should or shouldn't consider using it on your teams. See this thread for more tips.

Again, if there are any suggestions, let us know!

Partial Rewrites
Sometimes, analyses on the Strategy Dex will end up only becoming partially outdated, sometimes in multiple areas, while the rest of the analysis remains good quality. While the CMS is often the way to fix this, it can be difficult to justify such a large shift when it's normally for minor changes. The CMS being reserved to badged members also makes revamping obscure tiers more difficult. Thus, we have applicable analyses go through a "retroactive QC" with Partial Rewrites. These normally use a QC x/1 GP x/1 system, and your name will also be credited as Quality Control.

When doing these, contact a QC member to approve the rewrite, and either they or a Past Gens C&C Staff member can provide the on-site analysis's markdown code. The tier's QC team will guide you through what areas need the most work.

When posting a Partial Rewrite, add this to the top and fill in appropriately;
This is a Partial Rewrite of an on-site analysis. The <insert section(s) here> is outdated due to <insert reason(s) here>.

Details on Checks and Counters Section

We recognize that one does not necessarily need a Pokemon as a check, but perhaps moves, hazards, and even broader categories (like passive damage). Sometimes, it's not the Pokemon, but its hazards, that needs checking. The following will clarify the layout for communicating such an idea

(Optional) Start with a short paragraph on the general principles of checking this Pokemon. If it helps to organize seemingly disparate points below, describe briefly the general idea behind mitigation before moving on to the list.
Examples:
1. This Pokemon is very versatile and thus needs specific checks for each set.
2. This Pokemon's functions (such as laying hazards) need to be mitigated, not so much the Pokemon itself because it is passive.
3. This Pokemon hits everything common for a lot of damage, but is otherwise very frail, so mitigation the threat will generally involve smart pivoting, trapping and revenge killing.

In the list of checks, one can use specific characteristics, or a category. Here are some examples of what can be put in the **Insert Counterplay Here** heading.

Specific Pokemon: Tyranitar, Dugtrio
Specific Moves: Pursuit, Spikes, Toxic, Reflect
Battle Effects: Sand
Specific Abilities: Natural Cure Users,
Categories of Pokemon: Bulky Water-types, Physically Offensive Pokemon, Setup Sweepers, Phazers, Trappers
Cores of Pokemon: Salamence + Metagross, Dual Natural Cure Users (these can get out of hand very quickly, so think hard to see if they can be recategorized)
Categories of Moves: Fire-type moves, Hazards, Status
Categories of Battle Effects: Indirect Damage (combination of sand/status/hazards).
Specific Strategies: Revenge killing (can also be category of Pokemon), PP stalling, Denying Setup Opportunities

Descriptions should ideally convey the following
1. Which sets do this mitigation measure apply to?
2. How effective is this measure?
3. How common is this measure?

Common Grammar and Prose Mistakes:
It's advised that the following is kept to a minimum or ideally, cut entirely, to ease the GP process. Referring to the Spelling & Grammar Standards is also recommended. QC members are encouraged to advise writers on their grammar, this guide helps!
  • Metaphorical references, such as referring to Pikachu like this: "this electric mouse can 2HKO...". It's best to keep to "Pikachu" or "it" in this context.
  • Reciting of dex info without in-context, metagame-related references. For example, "Sleep Powder can be used to put a Pokemon to sleep" is just dex info that can be seen on the move page. On the other hand, "Sleep Powder can be used to turn the tables on would-be checks, such as this, this and this" would be perfectly fine.
  • Closing lines on Overviews such as "Overall, this is a big threat that demands respect" should be omitted, as it's just fluff.
