Notable Moves:
  • Wicked Blow
  • Sucker Punch
  • Bulk Up
  • Iron Head
  • Close Combat
  • Thunder Punch
  • Ice Punch (won't be potentially useful until Crown Tundra)
  • Facade
  • U-turn
  • Substitute
  • Taunt
  • Poison Jab
  • Stone Edge
New Move: Wicked Blow - 80 BP, physical, contact, always results in a critical hit.

Overview:
  • Very high Attack stat alongside high base power STAB moves, excellent neutral/super effective coverage on STABs alone, and respectable base 97 Speed stat
  • Signature move, Wicked Blow, gives Urshifu a semi-immunity to Intimidate and lets it hit through Reflect, Aurora Veil and defense boosts.
  • Access to U-turn gives it options to play more "soft"/safe versus teams with Fairy-types and faster Poison/Steel immunities.
  • Signature ability, Unseen Fist, prevents Pokemon like Clefable stalling for Leftovers recovery/similar.
  • Despite Urshifu's great 100/100 physical bulk, mediocre special bulk prevents bulky variants from thriving.
  • Low base power coverage outside of STAB attacks—all available coverage moves other than Stone Edge are weaker than neutral STABs on 2x super effective hit
  • 1 base Speed slower than Hydreigon and weak to Mach Punch, leaving it susceptible to revenge killing
Potential Movesets:

Choice Band

Urshifu @ Choice Band
Ability: Unseen Fist
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly / Adamant Nature
- Wicked Blow
- Close Combat
- Poison Jab / Sucker Punch
- U-turn / Sucker Punch

Adamant 2HKOs Hippo at +1 but loses out on Timid Kyurem, Timid Rotom-A, and Jolly Excadrill benchmarks. Sucker Punch beats Dragapult and Psychic-type Cinderace while PJab beats PhysDef Fairy-types (SpD Clef is 2HKOed regardless)

Offensive Bulk Up
Urshifu @ Leftovers / Black Glasses / Black Belt
Ability: Unseen Fist
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly / Adamant Nature
- Bulk Up
- Wicked Blow
- Close Combat
- Poison Jab / Sucker Punch

Same as above but trades immediate firepower + U-turn for the ability to switch moves. Also softens up Mach Punch if need be.

Choice Scarf
Urshifu @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Unseen Fist
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly / Adamant Nature
- Wicked Blow
- Close Combat
- Poison Jab / Iron Head
- U-turn

Jolly outpaces +1 Excadrill and Choice Scarf Rotom-A, Adamant for general firepower. Typing gives good matchup versus Dragapult. Iron Head trades SE damage on Primarina for a flinch rate—no other noteworthy differences.

Yay first reply! How about adding in this part that it is able to ignore King’s Shield from Aegislash, otherwise Urshifu would have less wallbreaking capabilities.

Actually, for the Choice Scarf Set, I think Adamant may be the better because it still outspeeds Dragapult and can tank an Earthquake from a non-boosted Excadrill if it comes in on Rapid Spin.

This thread is kind of dead but I like 3 attacks + Taunt, granted I’m still playing around with what item to use, I like boots since this mon hates hazards but who knows :blobthinking:. Slows down some of the fattier mons especially when brute force might not be enough to either break through them or you want to prevent them from setting up / removing hazards. Probably my favorite mon to use when its not being walled by buzzwole:pikuh:

I think Buzzwole is common enough where you may want to run Aerial Ace somewhere. Over Bulk Up on all attacking sets or over U-Turn on choiced sets.
