Pokemon Serperior GIF - Pokemon Serperior Running - Discover & Share GIFs

[OVERVIEW]

When it comes to late-game cleaners, Serperior does its job very well thanks to its superior Speed tier and surprisingly solid natural bulk. With said Speed tier, it's able to outspeed and heavily damage many threats in the metagame like Rotom-S, Charizard, and Haunter. It can run a Calm Mind + Substitute set to become a more formidable sweeper. Hidden Power Rock and Ground round out Serperior's coverage quite nicely, hitting Flying- and Poison-types, respectively. Hidden Power Ice can be used to hit Dragon- and Grass-types; however, thet are fairly uncommon and typically not worth the moveslot. Despite all this, Serperior usually needs at least a single Calm Mind to be an effective sweeper due to its subpar Special Attack stat. While it is naturally fast, there are many faster threats that offensively pressure it like Choice Scarf Rotom-F, Swellow, and Floatzel. There's also a multitude of special walls like Miltank, Roselia, and Zweilous to boot that simply laugh at Serperior's attempts to take them down.

[SET COMMENTS]
Set Description
========

Serperior can use Substitute or Taunt to take advantage of passive Pokemon that it checks like Seismitoad and Alomomola. Substitute in particular makes Serperior tougher to revenge kill and allows it to safely fall into Overgrow range. A Calm Mind boost alongside Life Orb will let Serperior's Giga Drain net OHKOs on threats like Samurott, Golurk, and Regirock, as well as neutral Pokemon like Eelektross and Kangaskhan if boosted by Overgrow. Giga Drain often offsets Life Orb recoil and can allow Serperior to use Substitute multiple times. Hidden Power Rock nails Charizard, Braviary, and Rotom-S for super effective damage, while Hidden Power Ground does the same to Poison-types like Garbodor and Skuntank.

Team Options
========

Serperior fits best on balance and bulky offense teams that benefit from an offensive Water-resistand Pokemon. While it is fast, Choice Scarf Pokemon like Primeape, Rotom-S, and Haunter all threaten Serperior with their respective STAB moves and can take an unboosted attack from it. Defensive answers to these threats like Weezing, Camerupt, and Mandibuzz, respectively, are appreciated. Naturally faster threats like Swellow and Floatzel can force Serperior out as well. Physically defensive Pokemon such as Regirock and Alomomola take on Swellow very easily, and the latter can also comfortably switch into Floatzel. Serperior's partners can largely dictate what Hidden Power it runs, as with Hidden Power Rock, having teammates such as Golem, Piloswine, and Seismitoad to dent Poison-types can help Serperior manage without the super effective coverage. If Serperior opts for Hidden Power Ground to snipe Poison-types and stray targets like Camerupt, then Flying-types such as Charizard, Braviary, and Mandibuzz can switch into its Giga Drain very easily, making Electric- and Rock-types like Eelektross and Regirock solid partners. Special walls such as Roselia and Zweilous can almost always take on Serperior but must be wary of the rare Hidden Power Ice, which also hits Flying-types like Mandibuzz. Sap Sipper Miltank is the definition of a hard wall for Serperior, pressuring it even if it's behind a Substitute or Miltank is Taunted. Physical wallbreakers like Sawk and Braviary break through these special walls.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Glare is a nice utility option over Substitute or Calm Mind to slow down faster threats. However, more often than not, they generally don't stay in long enough for Serperior to do this, and it also takes away from Serperior's job as a sweeper. Hidden Power Ice can be used to check the niche Dragon- and Grass-types that can otherwise give Serperior trouble. Knock Off can be used to remove Eviolite and Leftovers from common checks, annoying even hard stops such as Miltank. Substitute paired with Leech Seed can be used in favor of Hidden Power to chip down all of Poison-, Fire-, and Flying-types.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Poison-types**: If Serperior is carrying Hidden Power Rock, Garbodor and Skuntank are just a couple of threats that don't fear it much due to the small amount of damage Hidden Power Rock does. Weezing can take on Serperior comfortably regardless of the Hidden Power.

**Flying-types**: Should Serperior be running Hidden Power Ground, foes like Charizard, Braviary, Mandibuzz, and Rotom-S can all comfortably switch into it without fear.

**Special Walls**: Regice, Roselia, Miltank, and Zweilous get tickled at best from any of Serperior's attacks while also being able to pressure it offensively.

Pokemon Serperior GIF - Pokemon Serperior Running - Discover & Share GIFs

[OVERVIEW]

When it comes to mid-to-late game cleaners, Serperior does its job very well with its superior (lol) Speed tier in addition to utility move options and surprising natural bulk (Although Serp does have great utility options, that's not what makes it a late-game sweeper). With said Speed tier, it's able to outspeed many threats in the metagame like Rotom-S, Charizard, and Haunter while being able to deal heavy damage to them. It also has access to Calm Mind, which when combined with Substitute, makes it a more formidable sweeper. Another nice thing is it gets to choose which threats it wants to go after with Hidden Power Rock or Hidden Power Ground with the former nailing Flying-types like Mandibuzz and Braviary, and the latter denting Poison-types like Garbodor and Skuntank. Hidden Power Rock and Ground round out Serperior's coverage quite nicely; hitting Flying- and Fire-types or Poison-types respectively. Hidden Power Ice can be used to hit Dragon- and Grass-types although those targets are fairly uncommon and typically not worth the moveslot.(I pretty much just condensed what you've already said and added a blurb to show that Serp can go beyond ground and rock coverage) Despite all this, Serperior usually requires one Calm Mind needs to Calm Mind at least once (sometimes it needs 2 boosts idk, specifying 1 just looked odd to me) to be an effective sweeper due to its subpar Special Attack stat. While it is naturally fast, there's are many faster threats that offensively pressure it like Choice Scarf Rotom-F, Swellow, and Floatzel. There's also a multitude of special walls to boot like Miltank, Roselia, and Zweilous that simply laugh at Serperior's attempts to take them down.

Set Description

Serperior can use Substitute or Taunt to take advantage of passive Pokemon that it checks like Seismitoad and Alomomola to make it even tougher to revenge kill. Calm Mind turns Serperior into a more fearsome sweeper by turning 2HKOs into A Calm Mind boost will let Serperior net OHKOs on threats like Samurott, Golurk, and Regirock with Giga Drain. Giga Drain often offsets Life Orb recoil and can allow Serperior to Substitute into Overgrow range for a boosted Giga Drain that can net surprise OHKO's on even naturally Pokemon like Eelektross and Kangaskhan after a Calm Mind boost. Hidden Power Rock nails Charizard, Braviary, and Rotom-S for super effective damage, while Hidden Power Ground does the same to Poison-types like Garbodor and Skuntank. In addition to the above Giga Drain OHKOs, Hidden Power Rock guarantees a OHKO on Charizard without a Calm Mind boost while Hidden Power Ground is a guaranteed 2HKO on Garbodor and Skuntank after Stealth Rock chip. I'm hesitant to mention HP Ground benchmarks due to Shuca Berry being fairly common, and a rock move ohkoing zard isn't really anything amazing

Team Options

Serperior fits best onto balance or bulky offensive teams that could use a fast Water-resistant sweeper that cleans mid-to-late game. While it is fast, Choice Scarf Pokemon like Primeape, Rotom-S, and Haunter all threaten Serperior with their respective STAB moves and can take an unboosted attack. Defensive answers to these threats like Weezing, Camerupt, and Mandibuzz, respectfully, is appreciated. Even naturally faster threats like Swellow and Floatzel can force Serperior out as well if it's chipped enough. This is where a partner like Regirock or Alomomola can come in to eat their moves. If carrying Hidden Power Rock, Poison-types like Garbodor and Skuntank fear little from Serperior. Ground-type partners like Golem, Piloswine, and Colbur Berry Golurk can check these threats. Conversely, if Serperior has Hidden Power Ground, Flying-types like Charizard, Braviary, and Mandibuzz are easy switch-ins to Serperior since they wall Giga Drain. Partners like Eelektross, Electabuzz, Choice Scarf Rotom-F, and Choice Scarf Rotom-S can remedy this issue by offensively pressuring said threats. Special walls like Roselia, Duosion, Zweilous, and Miltank are easy counters to Serperior. Therefore, partners like Choice Specs Charizard, Nasty Plot Misdreavus, and Sawk, respectively, work as great teammates to handle these threats. this entire section is incredibly repetitive, the content is great but I would reword it as this ->
Physically defensive Pokemon such as Regirock and Alomomola take on Swellow very easily while the latter can comfortably pivot in on Floatzel. Serperior's partners can largely rely on what Hidden Power coverage it chooses, as with Hidden Power Rock, having something to dent those Poison-types will such as Golem, Piloswine, or Seismitoad can help Serperior put those checks into range of it. If Serperior opts for Hidden Power Ground to snipe those Poison-types and other stray targets like Camerupt, then Flying-types such as Charizard, Braviary, and Mandibuzz can pivot into its Giga Drain very easily, and power Electric-types like Eelektross, Rotom-F, and Electabuzz can help offensively check these while Rock- or Ground-types like Golem, Regirock, and Piloswine can defensively check the Flying-types. Specialized walls such as Roselia and Zweilous can almost always take on Serperior although must be wary of the rare Hidden Power Ice, which hits them and still allows Serperior to hit Flying-types like Mandibuzz. Sap Sipper Miltank is the definition of a hard wall for Serperior, as it can pressure Serprior even if its behind a Substitute or has Taunted the Miltank.

However, more often than not, faster threats generally don't stay in long enough for Serperior to do this and also takes away from Serperior's job as a sweeper. Taunt is another option, but this move can drastically backfire if the foe predicts correctly. Hidden Power Ice can be used to check the niche Dragon- and Grass-types that can otherwise give Serperior trouble. Knock Off can be used to remove the Eviolites and Leftovers of common checks, annoying even hard stops such as Miltank. Substitute paired with Leech Seed can be used in favor of any Hidden Power coverage as it hits both Poison-, Fire-, and Flying-types just the same.

**Special Walls**: Regice, Roselia, Duosion (Duosion loses to Taunt CM), Miltank, and Zweilous get tickled at best with any of Serperior's attacks while also being able to restore any lost HP with the exception of Regice. (what recovery does Zweilous have that Regice doesn't? they both use RestTalk effectively) while also being able to pressure Serperior offensively

Hidden Power Rock and Ground round out Serperior's coverage quite nicely, (comma) hitting Flying- and Poison-types, respectively.

Set Description
========

Substitute. Hidden Power Rock nails Charizard, Braviary, and Rotom-S for super effective damage, while Hidden Power Ground does the same to Poison-types like Garbodor and Skuntank.

Team Options
========

Naturally faster threats like Swellow and Floatzel can even force Serperior out as well. Physically defensive Pokemon such as Regirock and Alomomola take on Swellow very easily, (AC) and while the latter can also comfortably switch into Floatzel. Special walls such as Roselia and Zweilous can almost always take on Serperior (RC) but must be wary of the rare Hidden Power Ice, which also hits Flying-types like Mandibuzz. Sap Sipper Miltank is the definition of a hard wall for Serperior, pressuring it even if it's behind a Substitute or Miltank is Taunted. Physical wallbreakers like Sawk and Braviary break through these special walls.

Other Options
=============

Glare is a nice utility option over Substitute or Calm Mind to slow down faster threats. However, more often than not, they generally don't stay in long enough for Serperior to do this, (AC) and it also takes away from Serperior's job as a sweeper. Hidden Power Ice can be used to check the niche Dragon- and Grass-types that can otherwise give Serperior trouble. Knock Off can be used to remove Eviolite and Leftovers of from common checks, annoying even hard stops such as Miltank. Substitute paired with Leech Seed can be used in favor of Hidden Power to chip down all of Poison-, Fire-, and Flying-types altogether.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Poison-types**: If Serperior is carrying Hidden Power Rock, Garbodor and Skuntank are just a couple of threats that don't fear Serperior it much due to the small amount of damage Hidden Power Rock does.
