Gen 5 Samurott (NU) [WIP]

:bw/samurott:

[OVERVIEW]

Samurott is one of the best offensive Water-types in the tier due to its amazing coverage and great offensive stats that grant it a sense of unpredictability, as each of its sets has its own set of checks and counters. It also has good natural bulk for an offensive Pokemon, letting it take a hit from the likes of Kangaskhan, Charizard, and Skuntank. Its typing is good both offensively and defensively, letting it check Fire-, Rock-, and Ground-types such as Charizard, Regirock, and Piloswine, and synergizes well with its solid bulk. It also has access to Aqua Jet to bypass its relatively mediocre Speed tier. This also lets it cleaned more weakened teams after a Swords Dance.

However, Samurott's Speed tier still plagues it greatly, as it means it is over reliant on Aqua Jet to outspeed Pokemon. This also makes it quite vulnerable to faster Pokemon that can threaten it such as Ludicolo and Charizard. Do not be mistaken however, Samurott is one of the defining and most threatening Pokemon in the tier, and should always be looked out for when building a team.

This set aims to act as a boosting sweeper, letting it make good use of its solid bulk to set up. In tandem with its great Attack stat, it can pose a formidable foe. Waterfall is Samurott’s strongest STAB option and boasts a nasty 30% flinch chance to exploit slower foes with. Razor Shell is a viable alternative, having an overall more effective side effect, since Samurott’s middling Speed tier means it will not be flinching very often. Aqua Jet is a strong STAB priority attack that lets Samurott deal with potential revenge killers. It also allows it great late-game potential as a cleaner. Megahorn is Samurott’s best coverage option, hitting Psychic- and Grass-types such as Musharna and Ludicolo super effectively.

=============

List some options for the Pokemon user that are plausible but not always recommended due to either being not consistent enough or too outclassed by other Pokemon in the metagame.
