Tournament RUPL X Commencement Thread

Hey, the Heavy Metal Highlights won't be opening a server for tryouts, but I'll respond to replays or showcase teams sent to me via Discord (Floss#2329), and you can also request me for SV or SS games there. For replay tryouts, I request to limit the amount of replays to 5 games in total. As for tryout games, I prefer to be DMed on Discord (even if I'm online on PS) to make it easier to keep track of stuff. Good luck to everyone signing up!
UUFPL has created a discord server for tryouts where people can share replays and managers can easily search through the available talent pool. I think it would be a good idea to make a channel in the RU discord for this since it's a lot easier for players than sending everyone the same replays and it's a lot easier for managers to go over all the options in one place.
RUTL PERSONAL MANAGER PRs ROFLLLLL
Honestly these aren't even properly ranked, I just felt like throwing jabs at my people for the memes but with some numbers on the side. Expect actual manager PRs properly done when the entire RUPL PR is released.
The mons used are not the official mascots, they are just the cooler ones that showed up in the /ds command when using the abilities, so I could use the new icons.

Noble Guardians - sensei axew & Punny
This team is heavily nerfed by the fact that only one of the managers can selfbuy. It's either a clueless manager in sensei axew that will force his SM players to use some nonsense, or a Punny that's just there chilling in the back with whichever friend sensei axew can buy. Both of them have access to some good old gens teams, but none of them is a known active builder in them, so it might not be too hard to predict what they'll use. As for SV, they are gonna have to rely on a good smoghorse to provide teams. Regardless, I think both are the most experienced in team tours to know what to do, but I can already see some draft shenanigans from sensei happening.

Sleek Slush Rushers - MrAldo
I don't always see eye to eye with Aldo's usual drafts, but I can't deny that they work (at least it did last year). Aldo has both a decent knowledge of good players to get for specific tiers, and a bunch of ancient teams (old even for their respective gens) that usually work due to how forgotten some of the techs used are. Having won the last RUPL, paired with a really unpredictable upbidding skill, I see nothing but a bright auction for Aldo in this RUPL...

Punk Rock Perpetrators - Oathkeeper & EviGaro
Last time Oath managed an RU team was in the last RU Snake Draft we had, and he had some solid picks, albeit some really weird ones as well. Regardless, he proved that he's no slouch at all (even tho he tried to pick fights with me occasionally for NO REASON), and this team rank is hard carried by Evi, who is going to be playing as well it seems. That means the entire SV lineup will be equipped with really out of the box techs like Vespiquen or Pikachu, while the ORAS slot will be stuck using Glalie Omastar for the 6th time. Evi also is known for being an ally to the French, making the teams they'll use even more obscure and unknown. Having played for Evi before, I can say that the teams drafted are usually alright and good, but it will all depend on the matchups whether she loses her mind midtour.

Almighty Gluttons - gorex & ninjadog
From getting a sad last place in RU Snake Draft, to getting the second-best record of the regular season in RUPL, losing to a tiebreak against the eventual champs of the tour in the semis. gorex has proved that he can assemble a decent team, the issue here is that not only is his timezone unviable, but his comanager is just as unviable in that regard. Everytime gorex says good morning, crossbow will be done asking for people to play SM with, as nobody is awake at that time but him. ninjadog will hard carry the BW slot, hoping to repeat last year's 6-1. That's it ROFL idk what else to say.

Heavy Metal Highlights - Floss
Floss alone is stuck in the #5 slot, as I have nothing negative to say about him as a manager, but he has yet to achieve any feats that would want to make me rank him higher. His SS support will be greatly appreciated in this tour, but he'll need to come up with new stuff if he doesn't want his Lucario Guzzlord team to be cteamed multiple times throughout this tour. It'll be fun to see Floss just try to assemble the monotype gang in this tour while all the other managers will just upbid him for the lols.

Deranged Hustlers - Beraldo
Similar to Floss, I don't have any info on Beraldo as a manager to rank him higher, but I can rank him lower than Floss cause I can already see his teammates asking "Hey man what should I use this week" and being hit with the "idgaf". In general, he can provide as much SS support as Floss, if not a bit more cause I know he has a bunch of unused teams, but it's also not too hard to know which friends he'll try to draft and get upbid on for the laughs, which will probably work cause auction experience is something that's lacking in Beraldo's skilset.

Optical Illusionists - Mac3 & eifo
This team is heavily nerfed by the eifo effect. He either loses a game and brings the whole mood down or does well and keeps complaining about everything, but with a little pride this time. Mac3 on the other hand will try to make people use "fun" (I am lying, it is never fun stuff for their opponents) stuff, but as seen by his recent SV results and opinions, you can only stray so far away from the main meta without crossing the unviable territory. Old gens feel covered well enough, but the environment for the team is something they'll have to work on to have a fun tour.

tbd - GoldCat & bb skarm
These guys couldn't even come up with a name, I'm not even expecting a draft plan for the auction ROFL. bb skarm gave me the impression that during the UUPL draft, he had a plan going, but once it started falling apart, he just lost sight of key slots to prioritize while having a bunch of money. GoldCat lately feels like a walking meme, just commenting stuff to sting people, so idk if he'll be able to make a serious draft either without crossing the meme line (every PL needs a meme team after all).
