RMT of the Month

The aim of this project is to generate attention for people who put effort into making quality RMTs. There are a lot of teams posted that are well-built and presented but left unappreciated, and RMT of the Month looks to bring them into the spotlight.

Concept
  • Every month, official Team Raters will monitor the RMTs posted in their respective tiers.
  • A few will be chosen that the RMT staff feel exemplify the qualities of an excellent RMT.
  • These RMTs will be posted in this thread, along with a paragraph explaining why the particular team was selected. This will allow posters to gain an idea of what constitutes high-quality RMTs, and hopefully consider these aspects when posting their own teams.
Prizes
  • The selected teams will be announced in the RMT Discord server and in the RMT room on PS.
  • They will also be recorded in the Hall of Fame, which will be maintained in the OP for each week.
  • Being selected also increases the chance of having your RMT added to Team Showcase, subject to review.
Requirements
  • Make sure your team is viable and effective. If your team doesn't fit into its tier or metagame, or lacks any kind of success, it won't have a high chance of being selected. It doesn't have to be archive worthy though, and it doesn't have to have peaked at #1 - a moderately successful team can make it, but it has to work.
  • Your team should be well-presented. If you put effort into presenting your team attractively, people will be more willing to rate it. We appreciate it when you take time to work on the quality of your RMT, as it enhances the quality of the forum.
  • Be nice and receptive to people's opinions - no one likes to rate the team of a close-minded person.

Astroworld - Ske Mask The Slump God

Astroworld by Ski Mask dominated during the recent OLT. It is focussed around a core of Swords Dance Bullet Seed Mega Heracross and specially defensive Tapu Bulu. Mega Heracross acts as the team's main ballreaker, and in partnership with Tapu Bulu's Grassy Terrain becomes a potent force that can pose a threat to any defensive build. Tapu Bulu reaps the benefits of Heracross's destruction with the use of Swords Dance, making it a potent win condition. Zygarde also takes full advantage of Heracross's wallbreaking abilities, which enable it to find plenty of opportunities to set up. Ash-Greninja provides the team with some much-needed speed control, and can also set up Spikes to wear down the opposing team. Heatran provides crucial defensive utility and Stealth Rock support, while being a very hard hitter itself thanks to Steelium Z and the Special Attack investment. Lastly, Choice Scarf Landorus-T provides another form of speed control, while also having the ability to gain momentum for the team with U-turn and provide emergency Defog support.

Double Z Blitz Balanced - helpinghans

Double Z-Blitz by helpinghans found a lot of success during OLT season. The team is centred around a core of Mega Pinsir and Thundurus-Therian, which is fierce offensive duo cable of breaking apart many defensive cores. Marowak rounds off the offensive core, adding a crucial stall-breaking component while also providing valuable defensive utility. Magearna and Alomomola unite to form a defensive core that can make a frustrating experience for opponents attempting to break it. Tornadus-T finishes things off by patching up some defensive holes, as well as providing speed control and Defog support.

Death's Blossoms - Le Val

Le Val's Death's Blossom is a solid take on bulky offense based around Hydreigon, a rising star in the tier thanks to both its offensive capacities and defensive utility that allow it to check the likes of Heatran and Ash Greninja. Rotom-W starts off the defensive backbone of the team, providing a sturdy physical wall and Defog support. Assault Vest Tangrowth works perfectly in conjunction with Rotom-W, providing an excellent check to special attackers that Rotom-W might have difficulty dealing with. The next Pokémon is Mega Mawile, which provides amazing offensive presence alongside Hydreigon, and is even able to transform itself into a terrifying win condition thanks to Swords Dance. Standard Choice Scarf Landorus-Therian provides important speed control and a valuable Ground typing that completes the VoltTurn core with Rotom-W. Heatran rounds off the team by providing a second Steel-type that helps the team check Tapu Lele and Magearna. It also sets up Stealth Rock, and can supportsMega Mawile in its stallbreaker role with Taunt.

SM UU

Barbed Wire - Pak

Pak's Barbed Wire is a post-Gliscor SM UU team centred around Choice Band Tsareena. Tsareena acts as the team's primary wallbreaker, capable of overpowering the majority of the metagame and gaining momentum over Pokemon it can't defeat with U-turn. Gliscor is used to overwhelm passive teams which may attempt to wall the remaining members of the squad, while also providing important defensive utility and a reliable win condition. Klefki holds the essential role of setting up Spikes, and also patches up several defensive issues. Jellicent is the team's spinblocker, while Nihilego is the team's Stealth Rock setter. The latter also posses a valuable Rock typing that comes in handy against Flying-types, and is equipped with Electrium-Z to destroy common hazard removers. Finally, Choice Scarf Hydreigon provides the team with much-needed speed control, and also packs Defog to relieve the team of entry hazard damage.

SM Monotype

Tomorrow Will Be Special - Eien

Tomorrow Will Be Special is an imaginative approach to Mono-Ground by Eien, featuring a variety of sets and Pokemon that have risen in popularity in the metagame. Mega Steelix is the focal point of the team and sports a RestTalk Curse set, which acts as an excellent win condition and becomes increasingly hard as it acquires more boosts. Gravity Landorus-T removes Pokemon that Mega Steelix struggles with, while also grounding all Flying-types and Pokemon with Levitate, allowing the rest of the team to take advantage. Garchomp is the team's Stealth Rock setter, but also provides a valuable offensive presence. Thanks to Gastrodon's fantastic ability in Water Absorb, typing and commendable bulk, it serves as the teams' primary Water-type answer, which is essential for any Mono-Ground team. Arena Trap on top of blinding speed allows Dugtrio to play a crucial role as a revenge killer to various threats that other members may struggle against. Finally, Excadrill provides an additional layer of speed control, while also possessing the potential to act as a late-game cleaner or remove hazards off the field with Rapid Spin.

Other Metas

Wigeons - Pigeons

Pigeons' Wigeons is an Anything Goes hyper offense team built on the evolution and extension of several trends that have been evolving in the metagame. The team features Excadrill, a suicide lead capable of keeping entry hazards away with Rapid Spin and crippling opponents with Toxic and Rock Tomb. This allows Excadrill to instantly gain momentum for the team's powerful wallbreakers. Calm Mind + Water Spout Primal Kyogre, Dragon Dance Mega Rayquaza, and offensive Calm Mind Arceus-Steel work excellently together, as all three put pressure on each other's checks and can become significantly harder to deal with if granted a free turn. Bulky Calm Mind Arceus-Fairy allows the team to handle several common threats very well, functioning as a check to a myriad of threats including Dragon Dance Zygarde and Choice Scarf Yveltal. Finally, Marshadow serves as a revenge killer and setup sweeper with its Bulk Up Marshadium Z set, and its mere presence forces teams to be very careful about preserving specific checks to avoid outright losing to Marshadow late-game.
