[OVERVIEW]

Registeel's excellent bulk and great defensive typing make it one of the most resilient defensive Pokemon in RU. Key resistances to Flying, Fairy, Grass, and Dragon allow it to pivot into threats such as Togekiss, Noivern, Roserade, Dragalge, and Gardevior. This is supplemented by its great natural bulk, which allows it to also take powerful neutral hits from the likes of Xurkitree and Toxtricity. Registeel also has Stealth Rock, and its ability to annoy common Defoggers like Togekiss and Crobat makes it a good user of the move. Registeel is unfortunately reliant on its Leftovers to stay healthy, which makes Knock Off incredibly threatening to it. Registeel is also rather passive compared to other Steel-types, as it is much more reliant on the likes of Toxic to make progress than its Steel-type competition of Steelix and Metagross. Annoying weaknesses to Fire-, Ground-, and Fighting-type moves leaves Registeel open to common Pokemon such as Chandelure, Darmanitan, Zygarde-10%, and Heracross.

[SET COMMENTS]

Toxic is required, as it allows Registeel to pressure Pokemon such as Noivern, Togekiss, and Milotic in the long term. Seismic Toss allows Registeel to dole out consistent damage to everything that isn't a Ghost-type, making it less passive overall. Body Press can be used instead, however, as it puts more damage onto certain threats such as Zarude, Cobalion, and Stakataka. Heavy Slam is the preferred last move, as it gives Registeel a decently strong STAB move that hits threats such as Togekiss, Sylveon, and Mimikyu. Protect can be used instead to get more Leftovers recovery and scout Choice-locked moves from the likes of Toxtricity and Darmanitan. Earthquake is a viable option to OHKO Toxtricity and surprise certain Fire-types such as Chandelure and Salazzle.

Registeel is a great fit for balance teams, as it provides them with the ever important Stealth Rock while also checking threatening Pokemon such as Nasty Plot Togekiss, Toxtricity, and Choice Specs Sylveon. Fighting-resistant Pokemon are important for Registeel, so adding a partner like Togekiss, Noivern, or Galarian Slowbro is recommended. Bulky Water-types such as Suicune and Milotic can help Registeel check Ground- and Fire-types, while Rock-types such as Rhyperior can also aid in checking Fire-types. Pokemon such as Zarude, Mienshao, and Golisopod appreciate Registeel checking Flying-types such as Togekiss, Noivern, and Crobat. Ground-types such as Rhyperior, Zygarde-10%, and Gastrodon appreciate Registeel switching into Zarude and Roserade, and they in return can prevent Registeel from getting worn down by Volt Switch from Toxtricity and Xurkitree. Knock Off absorbers are very important for the Leftovers-reliant Registeel. Options such as Galarian Weezing and Colbur Berry Galarian Slowbro can switch into Mienshao and Heracross, while Gastrodon can deal with Incineroar and Golisopod. Registeel is also setup bait for bulky Calm Mind users such as Galarian Slowbro, Reuniclus, and Suicune. Galarian Slowbro and Reuniclus can be dealt with via powerful Ghost-types such as Alolan Marowak and Chandelure, while Suicune can collapse under constant pressure from Grass-types like Zarude and Electric-types like Raikou and Toxtricity. Registeel can be supported via Wish users like Sylveon and Umbreon if you are not comfortable with it just relying on Leftovers to stay healthy. Sylveon can also take on the Fighting-types that Registeel dislikes, while Umbreon can aid Registeel against Toxtricity and Chandelure.

A Body Press + Iron Defense set is viable as a bulky sweeper that is tougher for physical attackers to beat, but such a set misses out on some of Registeel's utility in Heavy Slam. It also has competition from Steelix, which has higher Defense and thus a more powerful Body Press.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Fighting-types and Fighting-type Coverage**: Cobalion, Heracross, Mienshao, and Toxicroak all threaten Registeel greatly with their STAB moves. In addition, Pokemon such as Zarude, Raikou, Obstagoon, and Sharpedo can all viably run powerful Fighting-type coverage and therefore threaten Registeel.

**Ground-types**: Ground-types such as Zygarde-10%, Rhyperior, and Seismitoad can all hit Registeel hard with their STAB moves and force it out. This gives the latter two an opportunity to set Stealth Rock safely.

**Fire-types**: Fire-types such as Darmanitan, Chandelure, Salazzle, and Incineroar threaten Registeel greatly with their STAB moves, although Registeel can run Earthquake to surprise them as they switch in.

**Bulky Calm Mind Users**: Calm Mind Reuniclus and Galarian Slowbro set up on Registeel easily. The same goes for Substitute variants of Calm Mind Suicune as long as it doesn't switch directly into Toxic, and RestTalk Suicune wins regardless.

**Item Removal**: Losing Leftovers via Knock Off or Trick makes Registeel incredibly easy for teams to wear down.

[OVERVIEW]

- Also note its passivity when compared to other bulky Steel-types that compete for a teamslot (Steelix, Stakataka, Metagross, etc.)

[Specially Defensive]

- Worth noting that Sylveon handles Fighting-types for Registeel decently well and Umbreon covers Chandelure while helping Registeel against Toxtricity

[Checks and Counters]

- Kind of not a fan of HJK mention on Shao since it's basically always Regen CC.
- Note that the Grounds all can be annoyed by something from Regi (attacks in Zydog's case and Toxic in Rhyp's and Seis's case)
- I'd add in bulky Calm Mind boosters since they capitalize on Registeel's passive nature to set up a sweep. Suicune, Reuniclus, and Galarian Slowbro are the best examples since they have an avenue around Toxic (Suicune with 101 HP Subs or Rest, Reuniclus with Magic Guard, and Galar Bro with its Poison typing)

[QC 1/2] Solid work as always. You can just add these small points in the write up

Registeel is also rather passive compared to other Steel-types, as it is much more reliant on the likes of Toxic to make progress than its Steel-type competition of Steelix and Metagross Stakataka. Toxic is required, as it allows Registeel to cripple Pokemon such as Noivern, Togekiss, and Milotic in the long term. Seismic Toss allows Registeel to dole out consistent damage to everything that isn't a Ghost-type, making it less passive overall. Body Press can be used instead, however, as it pushes more damage onto certain threats such as Zarude, Cobalion, and Stakataka. Heavy Slam is the preferred last move, as it gives Registeel a decently strong STAB-move and hits threats such as Togekiss, Sylveon, and Mimikyu. Protect can be used instead to scout Choiced moves from the likes of Toxtricity and Darmanitan while also giving Registeel an opportunity to get more Leftovers recovery. Earthquake is a viable option to OHKO Toxtricity and surprise certain Fire-types such as Chandelure and Salazzle. Max Special Defense EVs are preferred in order to maximize Registeel's special bulk and take hits from things such as Choice Specs Toxtricity, Xurkitree, and Noivern.

Registeel is a great fit for balance teams due to the resistances it provides their defensive backbone as well as providing them with the ever important Stealth Rock (That description fits any Steel-type. Ask yourself: Why is Registeel a great fit on balance? What threats do it deal with that balance teams commonly struggle with? Does Registeel check things that other Steel-types fall short of? So, instead mention how Registeel help balance teams by checking NP Togekiss, Toxtricity, and Specs Sylveon). Covering Registeel's weaknesses is important for its teams to do in order for it to succeed. (Obv. that applies to any mon.) Fighting- and Ground-types can be checked by Pokemon such as Galarian Slowbro, Togekiss, and Zarude (Misleading, makes it sound like Slowbro-G can check grounds and Zarude fighters.). Fire-resists are also important. This can be achieved with a Water-type partner such as Milotic or Suicune, or a Rock-type such as Rhyperior. (Combine this with previous sentence and say Water-types can check both Ground- and Fire-types for Registeel. Then make Fighting-type answers a separate mention.) Rhyperior also gives Registeel's team an Electric-immunity, which is very helpful as it prevents Xurkitree and Toxtricity from clicking Volt Switch on Registeel for free. (Redundant, you go on to mention this later on.) Registeel's resistances can also be utilized by its teammates. Grass-types like Zarude, for example, Pokemon such as Zarude, Mienshao, and Golisopod appreciate Registeel checking Flying-types such as Togekiss, Noivern, and Crobat. Ground-types such as Rhyperior, Zygarde-10%, and Gastrodon appreciate Registeel offering them a switch-in to Roserade and Zarude resistances to Ice- and Grass-type attacks, and they in return can help prevent Registeel from getting worn down by Xurkitree and Toxtricity repeatly pivoting with Volt Switch. mess with Electric-types looking to Volt Switch on it. Registeel can be supported via Wish if you are not comfortable with it just relying on Leftovers to stay healthy. This can make wish passers such as Sylveon and Umbreon viable teammates. Sylveon can also take on the Fighting-types that Registeel dislikes, while Umbreon can aid Registeel against Toxtricity and Chandelure.

(You've mentioned how vulnerable Registeel is to Knock Off, but haven't provided any Knock switch-ins. Weezing-G and Colbur Slowbro-G are good for Mienshao and Heracross while Gastrodon deals with Incineroar and Golisopod. In Checks and Counters you also mention CM users, but again haven't mention any teammates to help Registeel.)

A Body Press and Iron Defense set is viable as a bulky sweeper while also making Registeel tough to break on the physical side, but such a set misses out on some of Registeel's utility (In what way?). It also has competition from Steelix, who is far bulkier on the physical side, giving it a more powerful Body Press.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Fighting-types and Fighting-type coverage**: Registeel's weakness to Fighting can be abused by the myriad of viable Fighting-types in the tier. Cobalion, Heracross, Mienshao, and Toxicroak all threaten Registeel greatly with their STAB moves. In addition, Pokemon such as Thundurus, Zarude, Raikou, Obstagoon, and Sharpedo can all viably run powerful Fighting-type coverage, therefore also threatening Registeel.

**Ground-types**: Ground-types such as Zygarde-10%, Rhyperior, and Seismitoad can all hit Registeel hard with their STAB moves and force it out. This can also give the latter two an opportunity to set up Stealth Rock safely on Registeel's team.

**Fire-types**: Fire-types such as Darmanitan, Chandelure, Salazzle, and Incineroar can all threaten Registeel greatly with their STAB moves, although Registeel can run Earthquake to surprise them as they switch in.

**Bulky Calm Mind Users**: The bulky Calm Mind Sweepers of the tier are capable of setting up on Registeel with ease, as Reuniclus and Galarian Slowbro both set up on Registeel easily. The same goes for Substitute variants of Calm Mind Suicune as long as it doesn't switch directly into Toxic, and RestTalk Suicune wins regardless.

**Item Removal**: Losing Leftovers via Knock Off, Corrosive Gas, or Trick is incredibly crippling to Registeel, as it relies on them to keep it healthy throughout the match. Registeel is incredibly easy for teams to wear down and remove if it is not holding its Leftovers, so keeping the item should be a top priority.

**Fighting-types and Fighting-type Coverage**: Cobalion, Heracross, Mienshao, and Toxicroak all threaten Registeel greatly with their STAB moves. In addition, Pokemon such as Zarude, Raikou, Obstagoon, and Sharpedo can all viably run powerful Fighting-type coverage, (RC) and therefore also threatening threaten Registeel.

**Ground-types**: Ground-types such as Zygarde-10%, Rhyperior, and Seismitoad can all hit Registeel hard with their STAB moves and force it out. This gives the latter two an opportunity to set up Stealth Rock safely.
